I enjoyed this story of a young Dom, and the older sub, an ex-rodeo-cowboy turned diner cook. Troy lost his first Dom twenty years ago, and he's been alone ever since, although he has close friends who give him what they can, from the confines of their D/s twosome. The couple's sub, a tattoo artist, uses Troy's tattoo sessions as a kind of scene, switching to give Troy something of what he needs. But it's not really enough, and he's lonely.
In walks Saul, a 25-year-old bike shop manager and Dom with a little experience and a lot of instincts. The attraction is immediate and intense, even if Troy assumes, from his twenty-years more age and road miles, that there can't be anything beyond a little play, at best. Saul is immediately sure though, that Troy is the one he wants for the long haul.
There is some good hurt comfort, and an interesting opening up of Troy's past, and his needs. I thought Saul was a little too good at what he did right out of the gate, and would've liked a bit more fumbling and figuring each other out. But there was some lovely caring and support.
Do note that while this book is HEA for the couple, it's also very early HFN for a broader poly relationship. If your preference is for settled pairs, that may derail the ending for you a bit. For me, it was a fascinating opening up of possibilities, and I'm curious to see where the series goes from here.
