I really don't know what this book was supposed to be.

It started out at as a best friend's little sister trope but he couldn't have her because the best friend warned him off so he started to torment her for the next two years? Not only was it a poor excuse, the bullying part didn't even read right. It was a lot of telling rather than showing. He would call her 'grunge', sexually tease/threaten her and she just happened to have only one friend so she was the loser of the school while he was the 'king'

It didn't make any sense.

The author put in time gaps that seemed rushed too and again, at lot of telling rather than showing. They met when she was 14 and H was 16. He fell for her at that moment. Fast forward 2 yrs, he's a senior and she's 16. He's been bullying her and it made me wonder...

How was he 'king'? He got into a private school on a scholarship and that's where he met the best friend. He had a dad who beat him and a mother with addiction problems but this also never went anywhere. On the other hand the h was rich and had two parents with a pretty popular brother and yet she's still the loser here? I don't understand how that's possible. Why does any of them have to be the loser? This is another example of a forcing a trope that just didn't fit, it was not executed well at all.

Anyways after she turns 18, they get together. He tells the brother and all he did was punch him so there was really no angst and again, no reason for the bullying 🙄

AND THEN it became an army/ptsd romance!!!
description

They had about a four yr and some months separation while he and the bestfriend/h brother enlisted in the army. They wrote letters to each other while he was away and then he went into a coma after an incident on the field and was reported missing. Comes back without brother, has nightmares. Brother comes back. h falls pregnant and H freaks out and says they aren't ready and just wanted it to me them for a while. h gets mad, H realizes he messed up and apologizes the next day. The h stays mad but goes to look for him at night worried he's drinking and ends up tripping down the stairs and landing on her belly. They go to the hospital, baby is fine and all is forgiven. They get married and have the baby. It was really corny.

The writing fell flat and the characters had no depth. I personally felt like the author was trying to make so many things happen in the story with this couple and it did not work.

and one last thing, besides calling her the oh-so lovely nickname "grunge" he would call her "baby girl" constantly, it was nauseating.
Unless you look like Michele Morrone, it doesn't work.

Safety:
(ages h-16/H-18)
h virgin including kissing.
H was not, he 'wanted her so bad' but because she wasn't legal, would satisfy his urges elsewhere.

“As if I would really go near you though.” He laughed. “Grunge”
“But let it be known, I may not be able to have you yet, but I don’t want anyone else having you. Got it?” He said through gritted teeth, dropping his hand from my face.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I lean down onto the bed, grabbing her hips and flipping her over as I slam myself into her without any warning. I squeeze my eyes shut as I continue my harsh pounding, her horrible mewing noises escaping her mouth as her hands scrunch up my bedsheets.
“Oh, Conor,” she moans.
The anger grows in me even more, so without thinking, I stretch my arm out, grabbing her tie then reaching forward, I push it into her mouth, gagging her.
“Quiet,” I growled. I didn’t have to look at her, and I definitely didn’t want to hear her calling my name.
My eyes dart open when I hear my bedroom door open. Turning my head to look over my shoulder, I see Darcey standing there.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(the following happens after they're already together)
“God, all the memories are flooding back.”
“Yeah? What ones?” I asked.
“The one where I came into your room, having a little tease. Fuck, Darcey, I wanted you so bad.” He stopped, turning to face me. His hands were in my hair as he pulled my face towards him.
I smirked. “You wanted me so bad that you went to fuck Marie straight after?” My voice was a little harsh.
“Only because I wanted you so bad, but I couldn’t have you. Please, don’t throw that in my face.”
My heart dropped, I physically felt it drop out of my chest and into the pit of my stomach.
“I’m not throwing it in your face, I was just playing around,” I said quietly, moving my face closer to his, our lips so close to touching.

during h's 18th bday, the bartender at her party attempts to rape her but H and brother stop it before anything happens.
Once they're officially together, no cheating and both celibate during separation.

I love all of Ashlee’s books, but this one just sky rocketed to the top of my list. I loved it.

Oh, Connor. He is one gorgeous, brooding & sexy alpha. I don’t want to give too much away, but let’s just say he redeemed himself & then some with Darcey. His love for her made my heart melt. And those letters. Gah!

This is the reason why I love reading romance so much... books like this. Ashlee, you broke my heart & then put it back together again. Connor was everything an alpha should be & Darcey his perfect baby girl. Now I need Chase’s book. I know you’ll break me with that one too & I’m so ready for it. All the stars for this one!!

I’ve got one word for you all... OUTSTANDING.

I’m a fan of Ashlee’s books, but this one brings something extra special.
The sheer emotion conveyed on every single page had me gasping, screaming out loud and my heart pumping.

Ashlee packs more than a punch as she tells the story of Conor and Darcey.
Starting off as a bully romance and turning into so much more.

The characters grew in the best way possible.
From hate to love, there is no stone left unturned.
Heartbreak and loss will have you sat on the edge of your seat.
It takes a hell of a lot for a story to make me cry, and this one did just that.

I don’t want to give anything away, so simply, READ THIS BOOK.
You will devour it, and then be left nursing the biggest book hangover.
And the epilogue... GAH!
I need more!
Get that box of tissues at the ready, you’re going to need them.
Five stars for one of my top reads of 2020.

The plot? NONEXISTENT. Girl this book was all over the place, the “brother’s best friend” trope would have played out great, but the tension and forbidden romance only lasted for the first few chapters. The time jumps were confusing and overall the book it just felt empty.

Ashlee Rose is a new author to me. And boy am I glad I found her!

OMG this book! It. Is. Everything. You will feel all the emotions. You will swoon. You will cry. You will feel the heartbreak. You will laugh. Make sure to have tissues and chocolates handy. And I love that he calls Darcey “Baby girl”. Get ready for King F** Royce!

Second standalone book is coming in 2021 of Chase’s story who is Darcey’s brother! I can not wait!!

CONOR:

I have read and loved all of Ashlee’s books. But Conor has broke me. He’s hot, with the body of a god and tattooed from head to toe. ( well nearly😜)
After promising his best friend Chase that he would stay away from his baby sister. He knows as soon as he lays eyes on Darcey that he can’t keep his promise.
It a story of love and hate but how blurred is that fine line.
This is not a book full of hot sex scenes (and there is some steaming hot scenes trust me). There is a story of life throwing curveballs at every chance for all the main characters.
As you read your pulled into every emotion that Ashlee’s well written word want you to feel.
And I love how entwined things became near the end.
The trouble is as much as life wants to throw everything at them can they stay strong and keep them promises?
Yet another well written book filled with every emotion going. Thank you Ashlee.
Have tissues to hand!!

I loved this beautiful, emotional story and I didn’t want it to end. Ashlee Rose delivers her best work to date with this brother’s best friend forbidden romance. Connor and Darcy were enemies until one fateful night when things change and secrets are revealed. This book is heartbreaking, emotional, heartwarming and so steamy. Connor And Darcy have an undeniable, explosive chemistry. The love these characters feel for each other is almost palpable across the pages. They face many challenges in this story. How far are they willing to go for love? Is their love everlasting? I highly recommend this captivating five star read.

I received an ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
This is my first book by Ashlee and I found her writing compelling. She wrote wonderful characters who really made you think you were right in the book with them. The story is full of emotion in all ways, Connor was a super strong Alpha who eventually made me love him. Darcey was the sweet girl who couldn’t be touched by him as she was his best friends sister. Their eventual love for each other was a thing of beauty. Just loved them.

Wow.
Just wow.
I'm a big fan of Ashlee Rose so i knew i was going to love this book but this is just something else.
I've been lucky enough to be there every step of the way reading this book but the final is out of this world amazing.
Conor and Darcey have a serious love/hate relationship, but they always say where there is hate there is love.
Darcey oh how i loved her, i loved watching her grow as a character and as an adult.
Conor, gah just the name gives me shivers. He has you wanting to hate f*ck him and bury him all at the same time, but again watching his character evolve into the man he becomes.
This book is absolutely amazing and you definitely need to get it.
I'm not willing to share Conor though so your just going to have to love him from afar.
I've loved all of Ashlee's books but this one is 100% my favourite.

The authors writing style isn’t for me. I’m not getting into it because things are just moving so quickly. Everything seems rushed and things are being brushed over. The characters start getting into a scene, something happens and then it’s over so quickly. There’s not much description on what’s happened, their thoughts or their feelings about it.

When Connor was 16 his best friend, Chase, brought him home after school where he meets Darcy, Chase's 14 year old sister. Chase makes Connor promise to stay away from his baby sister. But Connor can't deny his feelings for Darcy so for the next four years he is a down right jerk to her making it so that they both hate each other. But on Darcy's 18th birthday everything changes, drama ensues and they cannot stay away from each other despite the promise Connor made to Chase.

This is another book that I felt had so much potential but too much drama was crammed into to the book so we didn't get to see or feel anything. We were told about the bullying but never saw it, sure a few remarks from Connor but didn't see it. We were just told that they hated each other and were supposed to accept it. Then when all the drama went down at her party there was a flip of the switch and suddenly they are in love. Huh? Then Connor goes away to the army for four years and comes back with PTSD. But again there is a whole lot of telling and glossing over. We don't get to see his return, feel/see his struggles, feel their love. It was all a bit awkward for me. I enjoyed it enough to finish it to see where their story went but it just didn't grab me by the horns.

“Always yours, only mine”
I went into Promise Me a little blind, which I like to do sometimes. It makes the nerves nervier and the anticipation that much greater. With this book, I’m so glad I did. I sat on the edge of my seat at every turn, not knowing what was going to happen next. I guessed, I always guessed, and every time I was wrong. This book is so utterly beautiful I don’t know where to begin.
Darcey Sawyer is a bit of an outcast, a lover of ballet and a hater of her brothers best friend. Conor “King” Royce is the King of the school and used his powers for evil, specifically against Darcey. It’s not until her 18 birthday that the bough breaks and the story truly begins. Navigating each other, the outside world, injuries and unforeseen circumstances make this book more like a glimpse into an actual couples life, rather than a fairy tale you’re reading.
I always shied away from those books, the ones that everyone always says “aren’t your average fairy tale” to me that meant TEARS STRAIGHT AHEAD and I’ve always leaned toward romcom lighter books. This one has opened my eyes to the darker side of romance, but in its own unique way. Without saying too much, this is a couple that just is. No outside forces trying to bring them apart, no secrets kept to be later revealed, this is a couple navigating life together with all the circumstances they’ve been thrown. It’s more like a, watch what they can do, see how hard they work for each other.
There are so many great parts to this book. I’ve never seen a more clear picture of a dress than Darcey’s prom dress, it was vividly described and it felt like that scene in Cinderella where the dress just appears around her. Then there’s a part later on in which I was literally jumping on my bed with joy because FINALLY. (When you know you’ll know)
This book, this relationship, it’s all built on promises, so I’ll leave you with one of my own. I promise, you will not regret reading this book. The palpitating love, the reality, the true fight for happiness, it’s something that will stay with me, and that I will revisit often.

Whew, this took off like a rocket!! You want to grab a readers attention and keep them reading? THIS...this is how you do it. You won’t be able to stop once you start.

Promise Me was like riding on the ultimate, heart pounding, bring you to your knees, mind blowing rollercoaster that you continually get in line to ride. The twists and turns took me by surprise and showed just how incredible of a writer Ashlee is in the way she’s able to make everything work so smoothly together.

This book will have you overwrought as you watch the development of Conor and Darcey, individually and together. (Seriously have a box of tissues near by, you will need them.) The chemistry and adoration between them throughout the book was breathtaking and just so beautiful. Ashlee made me feel every emotion through her writing that I honestly can say I haven’t felt in a long time, if ever, from a book.

If it isn’t already apparent... I LOOOVED THIS BOOK!!!! You NEED to read it!!

The journey Ashlee took me on, from start to finish, is one that took me by complete surprise, after what I originally expected from reading the synopsis. I am BEYOND happy I was able to experience it and I know that this book will stick with me for sure.

I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review.

~Received an arc for an honest review ~

This book has multiple tropes ; brother's best friend, bully romance and military. I love all these tropes and they are my favs usually. However, I don't know what happened but I wasn't able to connect with the characters. The story was good albeit a bit predictable.

This book is about Connor Royce and Darcey Sawyer. Connor is Darcey's brother Chase's best friend and he falls for Darcey at first sight. But He is warned off by Chase so the only way he finds to keep himself close to Darcey but also away from her heart is to bully her. They both hate each other. Then, on her 18th birthday, something happens that brings them back together. They bond and fall in love all over again. But Connor and Chase have enrolled in the army. What will become of them? Will Chase come back home? Even if he does, will their love remain the same? Or will they be left broken and alone?

I loved Chase's epilogue a lot. Looking forward to his book.

Promise Me by Ashlee Rose is a forbidden love story between Darcey and her brother’s best friend, Conor. The tension between them marvelously wrote; Rose did a great job highlighting the hate and love aspects of their complex relationship. Reading how Darcey and Conor evolve into the people they are at the end of the book was an interestingly heartwarming journey, but don’t let that description fool you; the story will break your heart, the good news is that it will also take its time to put it back together. I give this novel a 5 out of 5-star rating!

THE REVIEW FOR THE BOOK PROMISE ME BY ASHLEE ROSE.

GENRE:CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE.
AUTHOR:ASHLEE ROSE.
TYPE: STANDALONE.
POV:DUAL POV.
My RATING: 5 HOT FORBIDDEN STARS.

When Conor and Chase became best friends.... everything was allowed except Chase's little sister Darcey. He made him promise to never go after her but who can resist the taste of forbidden fruit.
When finally their relationship soared, it was time to say goodbye. He and chase got deployed in the army. But some unexpected circumstance increases the distance between them . Will they fight for their relationship? Or Will they succumb to the obstacles in the path of their love?

"Even when things are set out to break us and pull us apart, just know that I will never give up. I will never let that happen. Because you, Conor Royce, are my destiny, my soul mate, my forever. And I will always be yours. Only yours.”

Wow!!! Every page in this book was filled with so much emotions and heartbreaking moments.
I did'nt had the pleasure of reading a book by Ashlee rose but now that that have changed ...I am in love with her writing skill.
The way the development of their relationship was described is just exquisite!!!
The book starts with them being in their teen ages but their first meeting comes off so strong that you just feel it in your bones.
What I would liked more is if the book could have been a little slow pace. It was too fast paced but the story line is still to the point.
This book has multiple of my favourite tropes in it...
#ENEMIES TO LOVERS.
#BULLY ROMANCE.
#MILITARY ROMANCE.
#TEAR JERKER.
#BAD BOY HERO.
#BROTHER'S BEST FRIEND.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and am excited for the next book too! There's romance, chemistry, emotion, time gap, adjustments, hope and satisfaction.
A wonderful, beautiful and for a lifetime relationship is formed making us wanting for more. It's not just a lovey-dovey story but has relationship dynamics too.

This book is not just a love story but also a story of second chances, determination to improve and dedicated & selfless love. We have many aspects here; enemies to lovers, forbidden romance, childhood love and the 'if I can't have you, no one will' appeal.
.
𝐿𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐻𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑡𝑤𝑜 𝑠𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑎𝑚𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑖𝑛.
.
Connor likes Darcey since the first time he saw her. Darcey being his bestfriend's sister makes her off limits but he knows that she'll be his someday and he'll do anything to have her.

Darcey hates Connor, well not completely as she too likes him, but being bullied isn't something she prefers.

On Darcey's 18th birthday, the situation changes which leads them to leave their facade of hate behind and begin to explore their connection.

It's not all roses and unicorns though. There's Darcey's ballet career, Connor's army joining and so many things inside, which are needed to be dealt and outside, which are yet have to faced.
.
Would absolutely recommend this and will suggest you to keep looking for the release of the next book too!
PS: A book with a playlist is always the best ;)

This was my first book from Ashlee Rose and it had a lot of tropes that I enjoy- a bit of bully romance, brother's best friend, and small town romance! This book takes us on the journey of Conor and Darcey who meet in their childhood. Darcey has always had a bit of a crush on Conor and Conor definitely has feelings for Darcey but tries to fight it because of his relationship with her brother and the fact that she's younger and innocent. This book really felt split into two parts- the young love in the first half and a more mature love in the second half of the book. I had a preference towards the second half as I never full understood why Conor was such a bully (I guess it may have been his way of covering his feelings) to Darcey at the beginning. I appreciated the couple's dedication to each other in spite of the obstacles in their way and also enjoyed that the book leaves off with a setup for the next book.

This is my first and certainly not my last read by this author as I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

Connor and Darcey have a love hate relationship. She is off limits as she is the sister to Connors best friend.I loved the journey the author took us on with these characters.

I found this to be a well written story with plenty of emotions. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

WoW! Promise Me is the first book I have read from Ashlee Rose. After a few days of seeing posts about the book I began to be really excited about the book and when the ARC copy landed in my kindle I worried I might have hyped it up too much and it wouldn’t live up to the high expectations I had set for it...I was wrong.

This book was an incredibly captivating and emotional read that I throughly enjoyed reading.

Ashlee has created an ultimate Alpha male in Conor and the prologue of the book alone has you hook line and sinker. It takes amazing talent to create an alpha male that you want to hate but fall in love with immediately- and this is exactly what Ashlee Rose has done here with Conor.

Darcey’s character is written perfectly. I always fear when authors write a beautiful ballet dancer as it’s such a cliche character, However, Ashlee has created a worthy leading lady that is lovable and someone who you connect with instantly.

Ashlee Rose has successfully captured raw emotions and written them in a way where you feel every single emotion deep inside you.
I felt my heart racing, breaking and bursting through the pages of this story.
Just when I thought the story was coming together and things were falling into place the story takes a twist and I’m back to panic speed reading desperate to know what is going to happen next for the characters and story.

I highly recommend this book. Especially those who love a strong and epic alpha male.

If there were more stars I would most definitely rate this book higher. I love Ashlee Rose’s style of writing and this book has left me intrigued and desperate to read more from this author.

Congratulations on a truly phenomenal story and set of characters Ashlee Rose 👏🏼

This story deserves more than 5⭐️. It has captivated me from the beginning.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Connor comes from an unstructured family, with an abusive father and an addicted mother. His friendship with Chase is his lifeline. Chase makes Connor promise not to touch his little sister, she’s off limits. He gives his word but he has not yet met Darcey. The first time he sees her she is 14 and he is 16 and in the moment he sees her, he falls madly in love with her. But he wants to keep his promise so he ends up making Darcey’s high school life hell. But everything changes the day she turns 18. From there, from their first kiss, a fireproof love story begins, which will survive time and distance( they spend more than 4 years apart when Connor and Chase enlist in the Army), and the many problems that come in their way. His love for Darcey is what makes Connor survive and try to overcome the traumas he has experienced in the Army.
It is such a beautiful story, with sweet, tender, romantic and sexy moments, but also with moments that will break your heart.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

“Because this is the night we are going to stop fighting each other. This is the night I am going to own you. Mind, body and soul.” He winked at me. “I don’t think so.” I scoffed, letting out a little laugh as I flicked my long, honey-blonde hair over my shoulder. Even though I wanted him to own me in every way, I wouldn’t let it happen.

“Baby girl, nothing would have happened. I am always going to show up for you. When will you realise that you’re mine? Always,” I muttered.

“I fucking love you, Darcey,” he whispered before collapsing on top of me. “I love you,” I replied, his mouth moving over my lips. I was his. Completely and utterly his. We laid for a moment before he pulled me into him, wrapping his heavy arms around me, not letting me go “you okay?” he whispered in my ear. “I’m amazing” I whispered back. He kissed my neck, squeezing me tighter as I fell into a deep sleep cocooned in his arms.

“Promise me one thing, Darcey,” he mumbled, his voice sounding desperate. “Anything.” My eyes darted back and forth to his. “Promise me you will be strong. I need my Darcey back. The one I fell in love with. “I promise,” I said, even though my voice didn’t sound convincing. I really did want to keep my promise. “Promise me you’ll wait for me” his voice hushed “always.”

“Promise me one thing, Conor.” I sniffed, trying to hold it together. The lump in my throat was burning, I felt like someone had stuck a hot iron rod into my wind pipe, my breath taken away from me, my tears threatening to spill. “Anything, baby girl.” “Come home to me,” I whispered through my silent sobs, my arms clinging round his neck. “Both of you.” “I promise you,” he said as he put me down, leaning in, kissing me softly. “We’ve got to go,” he said as he let me go “No, no, no. Conor, no, I’m not ready,” I shouted as he started to walk away, climbing into the coach that was sitting in the car park. “I love you, Darcey Monroe Sawyer,” he said as he pressed two fingers to his lips and kissed them, holding them out to me. “Always my baby girl,” he said before walking into the coach, Chase following behind him. “I love you,” I cried out to him as the door shut. And just like that, he was gone. I fell to the floor on the gravelled floor, my legs completely giving way under me as I gave up, hot tears burning down my face, my eyes blurring as I shouted out his name. My heart obliterated inside my chest. I was completely broken.

“I HAVE BROKEN MY PROMISE. I BROKE THE PROMISE TO THE GIRL I HAVE LOVED SINCE I WAS SIXTEEN. MY QUEEN. THE GIRL I AM SO DEEPLY IN LOVE WITH IT SCARES ME.”

“I fucking love you, Darcey, I can’t even put into words just how much. I don’t feel like my words could even do my feelings justice. I love you for infinity, forever and always. Only mine, always yours,”“I love you, and I know exactly how you feel because I have been worried that I can’t muster up the words to tell you just how deeply I love you. I just want you to know that it’s always going to be me and you. Whatever happens. You are never going to be without me, and I am never going to be without you. Even when things are set out to break us and pull us apart, just know that I will never give up. I will never let that happen. Because you, Conor Royce, are my destiny, my soul mate, my forever. And I will always be yours. Only yours.”

“Forgive me?” I pleaded. “Always.”“Always?” I muttered. “Always.” She smiled up at me. “Promise me, promise me you will always love me.”“I promise. Promise me you will talk to me more,” she said in a whisper. “I promise.” I nodded at her.

“Baby, I promised you. Promised that I would be by your side, promised that I would always love you. You promised me as well, remember? Only yours, always mine.”“But I keep breaking the fucking promises.” He sighed. “You haven’t broken any, Conor.”Promise me one thing,” I muttered our line. “What?” His lips twitched, trying to mask his smile. “Promise me you won’t give up on yourself, promise me that you won’t give up on us.”“I promise you,” he muttered before placing his hand on the side of my face, cupping it. I leant into it as he craned his neck down to kiss me. “Always yours, only mine.”

I counting the days to read Chase’s story!!!!

***I am so upset I accidentally deleted my review and what is life? BUT I had a copy of my review saved so here we are, but with some new additions.***

I originally rated this 4 stars. Over the last couple of days, I couldnʻt get Conor or Darcey out of my head. Even with my next read, I just found myself comparing the couple in that book to Conor and Darcey. I would be like, “Oh no...Conor WOULD NEVER.” Or “Darcey would do this instead..” I havenʻt gone through this since May. I knew that if I couldnʻt get this couple out of my head, then this is definitely a FIVE star read❤️

I will not lie, I went into this thinking ok...how is this story going to go because in the blurb it says her eighteenth is where things will change from both of their POVs. BOY was I surprised—in the most AMAZING way possible.

The whole storyline was so beautiful. From them first meeting, to Darcey’s 18th birthday, to everything else. Their love was just written in the stars for them, no matter how cheesy that sounds.

I loved their love. Not only their love for each other, but for their family and friends. I love how different this book was from what I usually read. It dealt with war, PTSD, love, and all the hardships that comes with it. This book shed a light on PTSD and mental health which I thought was so important. Many people forget how much sacrifices people make when they enlist in the army...especially their mental health. Both Chase and Conor came back different men; fighting their own internal battles, demons, and ghosts.

I love how much Darcey and Conor love each other. Not only did they fall in love, but they conquered their love and their demons. They were a team and truly showed how much having a support system helped. They leaned on each other and made each other promises to keep each other afloat especially during the hard times. Their promises to each other...MY HEART. They are definitely one of those couples that make you believe in love and soulmates if you donʻt already...and if you do believe in it...they make you believe in it harder.

I cannot wait for Chase’s book. I know that his book will come for our hearts especially with his epilogue💙

3STARS!!!

This is the first book of Ashlee I have read and I really liked how detailed the books was, which can be a good and a bad thing both depending upon the person reading it because some people really like detailed works while some don't.

This story revolves around Conor and Darcey. He is the best friend of Darcey's big brother Chase . Chase made it very clear to conar that her sister was a NO but Conor is one of those bad boys who does what he is not supposed to do. while reading you can feel the sparks between the Darcey and Conor the moment the met.Conners doesn't have a good household so he spends most of the time at Chase's and the parents of Chase are also very accepting.

The story is stretched over a period of 8 to 10 years. They first met when he was 16 and she was 14. They came together when she turned 18. The twist in the story comes when after few days of being together chase and conor have to leave for military school and it's for 4 years and there will be no contact. During this time both Chase and Conor go through a lot of trauma as they were held captive when deployed

I really like how passionate they both were about each other and they also got matching tattoos which was too cute.. this book has angst, love ,trauma, passion and falling in love with brother's best friend is my fav

So I enjoyed reading this Book and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series which deals with story of chase and robiyn who is Darcey's best friend and also the story of carter and freya

Promise Me is a beautiful easy read that will give you all the feels! This is a brother's best friend, enemies to lovers romance. But if enemies to lovers isn't your usual bag, please do not be put off by this! The enemies part isn't dragged out and is laced with sexual tension and desire, leaving no doubt in the reader's mind that the friction is a front to hide their real feelings 🥰
.
I loved that this book is based in the UK, most I read are based in the US so this was an added bonus for me and might be a nice change of pace for American readers too!
The book is quite fast paced and spans over a number of years, but there is so much to overcome for our main characters in this time.
.
It's not only about the love between Conor and Darcey, but also about family and friendship, with amazing supporting characters which I am eager to know more about. It's about trauma, loss, resilience, loyalty, support, understanding, patience and forgiveness. It's fighting so hard for the one thing you want more than any other and not allowing any obstacle to get in your way.
.
Ashlee writes about some painful events in this book, but she does it so well. Handling them both realisticly and delicately.
.
I have only one thing left to say:
𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙚 𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜?
𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠.

I’ve got this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was my introduction to Ashlee Rose and I have to say I loved it!

As I didn’t know what to expect from this book, I went in blind. Every second that I read this book was amazing! In certain parts it was torture, but I wouldn’t change it.

This book starts with two main characters: Darcey and Conor. They hate each other, but deep beneath the surface they love each other. Yes, there is love and hate, passion and hatred.

A few chapters in I thought to myself that if this is how Ashlee writes then I love her! Her writing style, the way her characters think and act is amazing. I seriously loved all of it. I couldn’t get enough. She used the right amount when it came to POV...for me I love when I have more of woman’s than man’s POV, which Ashlee filled to the top! She knew when to use his and hers and at the right time! I couldn’t love her more for this. When you thought that you need this from his POV, there it was and vice versa.

When I got to the point in the book where Conor and Chase had to leave for army, I almost gave up with Darcey. Knowing that army is dangerous and unpredictable, I thought I’d crash and won’t come back.

I honestly don’t want to spoil this book and say too much, but I loved it, feared it, cared for it! This book for me had it all!

By the way: Happy Birthday Darcey! 😊

“She stood out anywhere to me. She could be standing amongst thousands and thousands of people and my eyes would still find her”

Promise Me is a story of second chances, in love and in life. This book has several tropes, brother’s best friend, a bit of bully romance, childhood love, military and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story.

The book is about Conor and Darcey. Conor falls for Darcey since the first time he saw her but she is his best friend’s little sister and so she’s off limits but he knows that she will be his someday. He will do anything to have her and he finds that for now the only way to be close to her is to bully her. Darcey doesn’t love that one bit. She hates him, well not really :), and tries to stay as far away from him as possible.
But then at Darcey’s 18th birthday something happens that changes everything. They find a connection that perhaps has been there all along.

However, this is not just a love story between teenagers. As they grow up they encounter some obstacles because life doesn’t always go the way we want it.
Will Conor be able to face his demons and fix what has been broken? Will their love be strong enough to survive when life throws you a curve ball?

*Thank you for sending me an ARC of Promise Me in exchange for an honest review.

Darcy and her brothers best friend Conor have a complex relationship from the start. They’ve got this hate/love thing going on between them that I loved.

Darcy was probably my favourite character in this book. I loved watching her grow and develop as she gets older and life leaves it’s scars on her. She wasn’t what I was expecting and the more I got to know her, the more I liked her.

Where do I start with Conor? He’s kinda (a lot of) a prick but honestly I love that in my book men so it goes without saying that I quite liked him to begin with. But even I have my limits and Conor definitely liked to test them. There were times I hated him, with a passion. My kindle was getting put down and picked up that often it was making me dizzy. He really knows how to make me see red. Until I started to see the other side to him and let me tell you that side is hard to resist.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters definitely grew on me, I loved their messed up relationship and couldn’t get enough of the chemistry between them. I’m hoping we get Darcys brother Chases book next. I need to know his story.
