An ancient myth is being re-told... and we are the featured cast.
Elijah’s Ovate—Tyler—is visited by a strange, but alluring, princess from Annwn. He's immediately captivated by her--but Elijah fears the princess has ulterior motives. Is the princess who she claims to be, or is she another pawn in the Morrigan's scheme? The cosmic struggle between Elijah, his Order, and the Morrigan and her legions comes to a head in the final installment of the Gates of Eden: the Druid Legacy Trilogy.
Theophilus Monroe is a fantasy author with a knack for real-life characters whose supernatural experiences speak to the pangs of ordinary life. After earning his Ph.D. in Theology, he decided that academic treatises that no one will read (beyond other academics) was a dull way to spend his life. So, he began using his background in religious studies to create new worlds and forms of magic-informed by religious myths, ancient and modern-that would intrigue readers, inspire imaginations, and speak to real-world problems in fantastical ways.
Well just when I didn't think things could get more intense, they did! A showdown with the Morrigan is inevitable and good me was that a battle! Loved the action! As is signature to this author's storytelling, he sets a fast pace throughout and builds on his unique take in his unique world. A world that transports me from Annwn to facing magical creatures. I really enjoyed seeing Emilie come into her own as a bard, although, their relationship is sti...complicated, there are wonderful glimpses of their affection. There's the added solving of mystery, like a Princess who suddenly appears but what IS her agenda? What does she want with Elijah? Well heck, best you find out for yourself! This author has a genuine gift, his imaginative Another fantastic read by this fantastic author, who'll keep you guessing and thoroughly enthralled!
In this the 3rd book we get to read Tyler's story as the ovate in Elijah's group and he encounters a princess from Annwn who had come to the human realm in search of a partner and he fall in love with her however Elijah is not sure of her own agenda. He suspects that she might be another who is sent by their enemy the Morrigan but he travels with Emilie, his bard into Annwn trying to stop the wedding from taking place. A fairy known as wee willie winker aids Elijah to cross the borders. Many things happen during this story as the clash with the Morrigan and her minions comes to a head and this brings us to the end of the trilogy providing us with a very satisfying ending.
Ovate's Call: A Modern Arthurian Fantasy (Gates of Eden: The Druid Legacy Book 3) , my twenty-seventh read from author Theophilus Monroe. Now this is what I'm used to from Theophilus Monroe. Well written & enjoyable read, the overall series, an epic in the making. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. William Turbett's narration again adds to the enjoyment of the book. I look forward to my next read from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Ovate's Call (Gates of Eden: The Druid Legacy 3. Also part of Druids, Dragons and Demigods boxset) by Theophilus Monroe. I totally recommend all books I have read by this writer. I know others will enjoy too. In this book Elijah's Ovate-Tyler- is visited by a strange princess from Annwn. Elijah fears the princess has ulterior motives. Is the princess who she claims to be or is she another pawn of the Morrigan's scheme? The cosmic struggle between Elijah, his Order and the Morrigan and her legions come to a head. Who will be the victor?
Was looking, as always, for something different to read and lucked into this series. Great characters, lots of them. I can see a lot of promise in this series. I'll check out the others. We have King Arthur, some fairies, spirits, Elementals, possibly Ents,, and some more I've forgotten. This author has a great pedigree for taking science, religion and philosophy, one that you don 't, not even remotely, suspect and turning it into a must read
Myth, legends and fantasy. An interesting blend of myths and legends. I have to admit that books two and three were a bit confusing trying to keep up with all the jumping around between times and worlds but still an interesting story.
Wow! What fantastic twists in this story! I’m really pleased with how it ended with lots of HEA’s and there is so much happening in between! I can’t wait to read the spin off series’ and see what all the other characters get up to, I need more!!
Easy read (listen). Decent enough story. Unsure I will remember it in a few years, but I was entertained enough to not hate it - which is a HARD think to come by these days..."I'm lookin at you, Alchemised!"
