The Keys to a Lockridge Heart A Clean&Sweet Regency Historical Romance
This is a very good and enjoyable collection of stories about family and love of twin sisters and a brother each finding love and happiness after living with a father that is a devious and cruel man Each story is a good standalone story and the characters are realistic and determined and emotional at times and the extended epilogues are all very good. The plots are full of mystery and suspense. This is a wonderful author and I love all she has written
This is an amazing trilogy of story's, that follows the trials of three siblings that have some intriguing trials to overcome. The characters are portrayed wonderfully, and the extended epilogues are a brilliant completion to the story's. This is a box set that will suit anyone who loves clean historical romances that have plenty of twists and turns. I read an ARC copy.
I really enjoyed all the books on the Lockridge siblings. And having them all in one book makes it easier to read the books seamlessly. I already reviewed all the book separately and I highly recommend getting this trilogy of you have not already read the books.
I loved this series. Each story can stand on its own, but together they weave an intricate web.
Melting a Duke's Winter Heart Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love the characters and the plot in this story. It's twisted and endearing at the same time. There's mistaken identity and scandal and an evil father with twin daughters that secretly defy him. This story melted my heart along with the Duke's.
A Loving Duke For The Shy Duchess
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This story is what happens to the sister "Lucille" from the story "Melting a Duke's Winter Heart". It seem Lucille accepts an arrange marriage with Duke Crowan to get out of her father's house. She spends months avoiding her husband out of fear of his reputation. One night after a dinner gone wrong, neither of them can sleep. Reginald finds his wife in the library. She asks him what's wrong and he lays his head in her lap. She allows him this and it changes something in her. From there Reginald and her begin to build a friendship based on respect. What Reginald has unleashed is a veritable tiger. This story continues months after where Sarah's story ends, but we find that Lucille is actually more courageous than her sister, Sarah. Sometimes all a person really needs is the freedom to be themselves.
Freed by the Love of an Earl
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a very intense story. Although, Edmund has loved Margaret for as long as he can remember, with his estate in tatters, he never hoped to marry her anytime soon. Blackmail has risen its ugly head, and Margaret needs to marry and marry wealthy. Edmund offers marriage when he learns that Margaret need to marry quickly. Both fail to tell each other the issue with their finances, and things proceed to quickly go downhill. I found Margaret to be selfish and arrogant to believe that she could handle things herself. The blackmailer was asking for more than the worth of her father's estates. The story is very intense, and the plot is definitely intriguing. It seems to me that Margaret has no common sense and could have prevented Jerome Colbourne from escaping if she wasn't more worried about Edmund and the Ton finding out about her birth. Of course, we wouldn't have had the thrilling climax. In this case, the story is great with the same wonderful characters from the 1st 2 books, but I have a hard time abiding stupid women.
These three stories are compelling. They have strong, interesting characters, flow together and have lots of twists and turns.
Melting a Duke’s Winter Heart Abby Ayles always amazes me with the different ways she finds to create a story about what was a very structured society. I love stories about twins since we have several sets in our family. The differences in personalities even though identical made this story. As the more outspoken twin, Sarah, was the most disliked by her father and therefore not a good candidate as a wife for the Duke, Lord Whitehall. This story has many twists and turns and has an unexpected ending.
A Loving Duke for the Shy Duchess Lucille is the shier of the identical twin daughters of the evil Earl of Lockridge and finds herself married to the secretive Lord Crowan, Reginald. If one expects marriage to end the exploits of her and her twin sister, Sarah, then they, like Lucille, have failed to see the strength she has. True to Abby Ayles’ other novels, this one has a great plot, interesting characters, villains, intrigue, twists and turns, danger and of course, romance
Freed by the Love of an Earl The third story of the Lockridge siblings, this one is about the youngest, the heir, Edmund. Margaret, close friend of the family, is being blackmailed again. She underestimates her tormentor, the strength of the friendship with the Lockridge twins and the love their brother has for her. Again, true to her writing style, this book has a compelling plot, interesting characters, lots of twists, danger and strong females. I have enjoyed all three books.
All three books belonging to "The Keys to a Lockridge heart" by Abby Ayles filled with bright strong women who are loved by the men they love. The men are each very different from each other but are equally engaged into a mystery that affects their love interest. The stories do keep a reader on the edge of their seat with all the actions and mystery throughout each story. But after reading the three stories I felt that the bad Grammer and spelling mistakes took considerable enjoyment out of the reading because I got mired in trying to guess what words the author had used and I hate guessing. Also, I have a pet peeve about an author who keeps referring to the ladies in the stories as "the little lady." There are other ways using language that don't use such trite phrases. I gave the collection 3 stars.
Very hard for me to choose my favorite, all three ladies are strong when confronted with obstacles! First is Sarah, when her shy identical twin sister Lucille is being forced to wed Agustagus Sarah decides to take her place, and as nobody knew if the twins, there are sever trial. Then Reginald Marries Lucile, he loves her, but severe trials occur trying to help her friend Margaret! Where as her problem involves the twins brother Edmund, more trial and tribulations! Very involved, but worth the read as they are all related!
This is a brilliant set to read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great romance and drama with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Three stories about a family with many secrets. Two sisters who trade places when their father tried to marry the timid sister to a cruel Duke. A brother who finally acknowledges that he cares for a friend. Learn the twist and turns of this awesome set. Abby is a fantastic story teller and you will not be disappointed in these stories.
All three books were really GREAT. I liked how they all wove around each other. The extended epilogue on first book was really great and THIRD on was good to but book two was not about Lucille and Reginald. It was the prologue for Maggie and Edmund . You need to fix this problem not the first time no extended epilogue.
Absolutely delightful! Extremely well written characters! They have strength, courage, and depth of emotion! The villain(s) are truly evil and the hero’s and heroines are deliciously imperfectly perfect!
The storylines evolve logically, with delightful hairpin turns and world class roller coaster rides! Well Done, Ms Ayles! Well done!
I have previously read each of these stories. I enjoyed each story the first and second time. The stories are exciting with much action and just enough romance to enjoy.
Faithful to the end. Meet someone and know instinctively they will be in your life forever. Strong women and the men that allowed them to speak their mind.
All of the books needed better proof reading, but the last one was the worse. The stories were good but it was distracting to have figure out what the incorrect words were meant to been.
These girls/women have only known abuse. Each give the other strength in one way or another. It is a beautiful coalition starring love between them. I hope their brother/son finds peace also. Some people are just mean...thank Goodness it does not have to totally ruin lives.
