They say the devil appears in many different forms. To the town of Sandland, his face was one of them. He was a rebel. A brawler. A bare-knuckle boxer you’d cross the road to avoid if you saw him coming the other way.
When he left our town, no one shed a tear, because Brandon Mathers was trouble and trouble followed him wherever he went. The night he disappeared, he left behind a lifetime of devastation for the rest of us to bear. He didn’t care. He enjoyed creating chaos and leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. But he was never going to stay hidden for long. He had too much bravado; too much ego. He couldn’t cope with being ignored. So, in the dead of night, when the darkness welcomes all the dirty, filthy creatures to come out to play, so does he. He thinks nobody sees him or the wicked things he does. But I do. He thinks I don’t know that he watches. But I see him. I watch him too. He thinks he’s coming for me, but I’m already lying in wait. When the time is right, I’m going to destroy his blackened soul just like he’s tortured mine. He’ll never see it coming, but when it does, I’ll be there to remind him that Karma is real… And her name is Harper Yates.
Tortured Souls is a New Adult Romance and the second instalment in the Rebels of Sandland series from Nikki J Summers. Each book can be read as a standalone, but it will enhance the overall experience if you read Renegade Hearts prior to Tortured Souls. Brandon’s story contains situations of a violent and sexual nature. Therefore, it is only suitable for readers 18 years+. Please take note of the trigger warnings.
Tortured Souls ( Rebels of Sandland #2) is a standalone enemies to lovers novel. I recommend reading book one to have the whole experience as each book is interconnected.
Sweet baby Jesus, this book pulled me in and captivated me from the start. Two tortures souls bound together through a horrific accident. I was not a big fan of Brandon in book one, but I had a feeling it was for show, and we had hints of how horrible his childhood was. I can now say I have done a 180 and love him.
Harper is dealing with grief and struggling to move forward. Brandon is lurking in the shadows helping in his own way for Harper to give her life and waiting for his day to reveal himself. All while dealing with his demons.
These two broke my heart, and you could feel their pain. Brandon's development and maturity level surprised me. His story is heartbreaking, he has learned from the pain and struggling to have his voice heard. Harper is a strong young, independent woman. You can't help but be in awe of her. She is so far my favorite in the series.
The author really outdid herself with this book and such a beautiful story about grief, heartbreak, and healing. I had no clue how she was going to turn Brandon around and add Harper into the mix. She did it in such an incredible way. So many twists and turns with more secrets revealed. This whole town is full of them. A must read series. These Renaissance men are fiercely protective, loyal and hot.
Having read and loved Renegade Hearts, of course I was anticipating for Brandon’s story to be released!!!!
The author’s writing consumed me again, it was captivating and engaging.
Tortured Souls was a heartbreaking story, with great twists and turns, very intriguing yet gut wrenching.
I struggled to get through the first half of this story because I couldn’t connect with Harper. While it was greatly written, I was more interested in Brandon’s side of story than Harper’s.
I am looking forward for Finn’s book from the amazing Renaissance men!!!
This story... Wow, Nikki J. Summers has done it again! She has such a way to captivate you with her writing... this book is filled with hate and love which are interconnected in the best of ways.
I was waiting for Brandon's story. I wasn't very fond of him in book 1 though. He was a cold and unnerving bad boy through and through. I was afraid I'd feel the same, but nope. The author made us feel for him. He was broken and lost. I was rooting for him and wanted him to find his redemption.
That he did in a young woman who was also hurting and broken, but for different reasons than his. Harper had just lost her brother Brodie, who was a fighter. He didn't make it out of the homemade ring. His opponent was Brandon. Which made Harper want nothing to do with him unless it dealt with revenge and making him suffer. Harper just knew that Brandon killed her brother.
As the story unfolds, secrets are made known and hearts are healed. Hate turns to true love and hope flows. What was once broken is made new.
It was against all odds to ever like Brandon Mathers after the events that took place on the previous book and it kept being that way until 40% of THIS book, but hell, the fascinating writing of the author made me take a huge turn on the opposite side!!! With similar footing, Harper wasn't a very likeable person either. Not because I couldn't feel her and understand her, but she was really irritating the fuck out of me!!! But hell, something happened around 40% of the book and i started liking both characters very much!!!! Nikki J. Summers managed to built a heartbreakingly beautiful story and Bradon fuckin' Mathers got under my skin after all!!! His girl too!!!
"There were people in this town I was coming for, that'd never change. But her? I was going to save her."
Well... Something bad happened on the previous book and at the present, Brandon is on the run... But he has so much anger and hatred inside of him for people who might not deserve it!!! And even though he is away, he is not that far away and he is plotting his revenge... The thing is that Brandon was unapologized reckless and stubborn as fuck. He had too much baggage upon his shoulders and his soul is more than tortured, but if you wanted to see a people who was watching his steps, you will not find it on Brandton. Brandon is a disaster waiting to happen and he can ruin everyone standing in his way...
"Heal. I resigned myself to the fact that I'll never heal a long time ago. I have scars on my body but it's the ones inside, the scars that people don't see, that hurt the worst. They're the ones that'll never heal. They'll never go away. I've got a lot of those. I'm a lost cause. A tortured soul."
Harper got through a very big loss in her life, but her form of mourning is unconventional... She is preffering vengeance over healing... And the person who wrong her is nobody else than Brandon... Yep, Bradon was a mean and reckless fucker, but honestly, her hatred toward him was a little bit unjustified... Yep, Harper was hurting, but she didn't have all the facts in her hands and that was making her wrong the others around her, including herself...
"I wanted to show him what he'd done to me when he took away the most important person in my life. He needed to know about the pain he caused."
These two were a wreckage about to happen.... Two tortured souls who were determined to destroy the other... But what if they were just perfect for each other??? Hell, I adored the way that the author brought these two closer.... I loved that she had taken her sweet time to made us realize what these two were dealing in their lives... I loved that she gave space and time to Harper to heal... and to Brandon to realize his own issues... They were two broken souls who together could make something great!!!
"What was this guy doing to me?" He'd smashed into my world like a wrecking ball, but the reverberations of his hits just kept on coming. What had started out as destruction all those months ago had turned into something else entirely. He'd forced his way into my life, given no thought to my sanity, and yet, after everything, he was making me feel."
"This girl was getting under my skin in so many ways I'd lost count. Like a needle feeding me the hardest drug. She was becoming an obsession. Crawling into my warped, broken soul to set up home there. "
And yes, after all this dislike toward our main couple, I was left with beautiful feelings toward them at the end... These two were stubborn, cruel, determined, irrational, but together could be something more than this burning hate... This story gave me all the feels and honestly, I can not wait for more...
"To everyone else you might be the tough guy, the fighter, but not with me. I see what lies behind all of that. The vulnerability, the need for acceptance. You don't ever have to pretend with me, Brandon."
I was so satisfied that the Renaissence boys managed to mend things between them in here, cause i didn't like them broken... Also, I loved that we saw for once again Ryan and Emily!!! And I can not wait for Finn and Zack's turns... I'm too curious for my own good... The only thing that I might didn't like is the fact that I needed a little bit something more between Harper's parents and Brandon... I needed a couple of scenes between them and i missed that we haven't any... Overall, I will recommend this series to a heartbeat!!! Please read these books and you will discover an amazing storyteller in Nikki's pen!!!!
"We are not a reflection of our fathers. We make our own impression in this life. Remember that. The chain can be broken."{Finn}
**I received an ARC for the exchange of an honest review. Thank you!**
Tortured Souls takes place in Sandland, a place with a few locals and not much excitement going on. The story begins as Harper Yates (MC) and her parents are burying her twin brother, Brodie Yates, after a fight ending deadly with Brandon Mathers (MC). There is a lot of grief and sadness going around as the book begins. There are many questions we still have from Renegade Hearts, which will be answered as the story progresses.
In Nikki J. Summers’ second book, in the Rebels of Sandland series, Brandon Mathers embarks on a journey of self-worth and redemption for the previous book’s ending. I really didn’t care too much for Brandon in Renegade Hearts but he makes up for it in this second story. He is trying to make amends with Harper and making her see she is a warrior, inside and out, after her twin brother’s death. Harper and Brandon are both completely broken, but finding each other will be exactly what each of them needs.
The romance that ensues between Brandon and Harper is delightful. There are sparks flying and Ms. Summers makes their characters quite lovable and engaging to the reader. Why do I recommend this book? This book has all sorts of twists and turns, romance and steam that will keep you turning the pages. This is such a great series and Ms. Summers nailed Brandon’s story. She made him likeable and made the reader want him to succeed and be happy for once in his life. Harper is the perfect woman for him and Brandon is the perfect man for Harper. They are each other’s complete soul mates.
This is a story worth reading. Summers does a nice job of combining romance, intrigue, and bullying. I love the constant battle between Brandon and Harper between right and wrong, as well as them finding each other.
Without giving away too much, I look forward to reading the next book in this series, because there are a lot of questions to which I need answers. Overall, I like the characters, I am intrigued by the Renaissance Men, and I want to return to Sandland for Finn’s upcoming story.
Since the first book in this trilogy, Renegade Hearts, is SOOO good, I jump right into the sequel immediately for certain. Tortured Souls focuses on Ryan's mate, Brandon, and his enemy-turned-awesome-gal, Harper, and the character development as well as romantic relationship are no less incredible. To be honest, based on the personality traits and appearances of Brandon, he's definitely the kind of guy your parents will keep warning you about and you probably won't want to mess around with. However, the more we learn about him and his heartbreakingly dark past, the more we'll want to be on his side and protect this soft-hearted guy with a hard exterior. In short, Brandon and Harper's story is undoubtedly worthy of reading and though up to this point, I still prefer Ryan and Emily's story, Brandon and Harper's pretty amazing.
Nikki J Summers only writes the most swoon worthy guys but man does Brandon take the cake.
Brandon. What a fucking man.
I want to say I love Brandon but I honestly feel like it doesn't fully describe just what an impact he made on my heart.
I've previously said that Max Steele from the Madison Kate series is the hardest I've ever fallen for a fictional character. And while he still holds that title Brandon is so close behind him Steele can see his headlights in the rearview mirror.
Nikki J Summers is such a talented author. I felt every emotion Harper went through. From the grief and unjust of losing her brother to her confusion over her feelings for Brandon all the way to her acceptance of her brother's dead and her love for Brandon. Every feeling went through my body.
My only complaint about this book is that there isn't enough Brandon. It could have been 5 times as long and I still would have loved it.
And that teaser at the end. You better believe I downloaded Finn's story immediately.
I've got this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Hold my still beating heart! I wanna cry, I wanna laugh, I wanna be mad, sad, happy, angry...you name the emotion, it's there!
I was anxious to get into this book and when I finally did, the book consumed me whole and spit me out when I didn't expect it! This rollercoaster was effing amazing and horrendous and tempting and just mine! haha.
Oh gosh, I wanna lay it all here. What happened how I felt, just all of it. But a lot of people read reviews and I, myself, have spoilers. So I'll try to muster up enough words to put this review together without spoilers.
I kind of knew what I was getting myself into, until I opened the book and read the first chapter. That's right. THE first chapter and I knew I'm done and just drowned.
I loved Harper for all she represented. She was strong, fearless, true, broken and mad but through it all she rose up like a Phoenix. She lost a part of herself she won't ever get back. She was heartbroken looking for revenge, but in the process she almost lost herself, yet she was able to save herself as well. I love reading characters like Harper, because it means there are girls that can get through tough times and come out stronger, which I think we all need in our lives, or at least I really do need.
Brandon? Oh gosh *drooling*, yep that is me. He is a machine, he is broken yet beautiful. Let me get one thing straight, yes I imagined Brandon exactly the way I see him on the cover of this precious book and I couldn't get enough, uh *sigh*. But now let's get to the part that ain't funny. This man right here has been through hell and survived. He became a master to be feared, but through it all he never betrayed his brotherhood The Renaissance Men. He got his back and they got his. This Tortured Soul has had a lot, yet he always gave more and was never selfish. He'd rather sacrifice his life than to see other people suffer. I love Brandon, let's be honest here, he is my dream man. And boxing? I mean c'mon, could Nikki kill me any further? Haha.
Altogether, this book was an effing masterpiece and I can't wait to buy the paperback signed by Nikki. I love this book and oh gosh, I do want to hear more about Brandon and Harper.
"You’ve lost a lot because of me… But that sparkle in your eyes? I wanted to give that back to you. I wanted to see that happiness on your face again."
Ugh my heart can't take it! Brandon Mathers officially owns me.
This is the kind of story I love... Bad boy with a troubled past but a heart of gold who fights for the ones he loves. When I first read Renegade Hearts (Ryan's story), Brandon stole my heart and I just knew his book was going to slay me.
Half way through I had a 😱😱 moment and had to message Nikki to try and squeeze her for info, but of course she was 🤐🤐
This book is incredible, so much so it took me only a couple of hours to devour it! Couldn't put it down!
I was so thrilled when Nikki announced her surprise release because I couldn't wait to read this book.
Nikki has become one of my favourite authors and I am so excited for Finn's book next!
Nikki J Summers wrote an amazing young adult romance where hate and love mixed together and you're not certain a damn thing until the last chapter. Brandon and Harper will take you on the highest level of emotions, total rollercoaster. They went through a lot and long way in their complicated relationship. They were looking for their own revenge but what they've truly found was not what they've expected. So grab your copy today and meet Brandon, the most rebellious hero, beautiful outside but so broken inside and Harper, strong and feisty heroine. This is must read in The Rebel of Sandland standalone series.
Another great book by Nikki J Summers! Brandon’s book was exactly what I was anticipating it to be and I had a great time reading it - I just had a little bit of a hard time connecting to the more emotional side of the story as the characters felt quite young in this one.
This book 🥺😭🥺😭 it's literally heart breaking from page one. If you have read renegade hearts then you know what happened at the end.. we follow on from that horrific event. With Harper, Brodies twin sister. And of course, our broken soul Brandon. Both as broken as each other, Harper maybe even more so. The pain in this book from both characters is heart wrenching and it really tugs on your heart strings. This book really is hate to love. The hate is unreal 🥺 this book is dark, please check its old for you! 🖤
"She was unstable, unpredictable, and slightly psychotic. It was like looking in a mirror at a daintier, blinder version of me. Hell, she was me."
There is a big turning point in this story, it made my heart swell. It was round about the time Brandon decided to save her instead of break her 🥺🖤
"What sort of things should I do if I wanted to be...I dunno...romantic and shit?" 🤣🤣
Brandon's love for Finn is the best 🥺 he sees finn as his opposite, and for that reason he puts himself out there to help Finn toughen up and learn to defend himself, Finn sees the good in people and Brandon trusts no one. He thinks that's why Finn needs him around. At times I couldnt help but laugh, he truly believed he was giving Finn words of wisdom 😂 it couldnt be further from the truth. It was horrible advice at times 🤣 he even calls Finn his good luck charm 🥺 not out loud obvs 😂
Brandon's mum is the nastiest fucking bitch. I was literally sobbing when she said that shit to him 🥺😭💔 my heart couldnt break for him anymore!! All he wanted was his mums love and approval..she couldnt even remember who he was 😭 I just want to give him the biggest hug of his life!!! He is so misunderstood 😭
When Brandon sent the youtube link for this song, I of course listened to it on spotify and burst into tears!!
"When you feel my heat Look into my eyes It's where my demons hide It's where my demons hide Don't get too close It's dark inside It's where my demons hide It's where my demons hide." - Imagine Dragons 🥺 god what a perfect song for him 🖤😭
"I think you're probably the only person who loves me out of choice." 😭❤
Also, Brandon's nan deserves a shoutout because she is absolutely HILARIOUS 🤣🤣 I burst out laughing the way she spoke to Harper!! What a lady 😅
I thought I was done crying.. nope.. our poor Finn, I was wondering what made him so quiet and kept to himself.. that ending I did NOT see coming!!! I had pure goosebumps. What the hell!! No one hurts our Finn 🤬🤬
I absolutely love this author! She writes MMCs that you end up absolutely adoring. This wasn't my favorite of hers because it had one element that I'm not a huge fan of. I skipped the first book because I wasn't super interested in the plot, so I didn't know that Brandon had a thing for the FMC in the previous book. That was sort of annoying. Luckily, there wasn't much of a focus on it. It was only mentioned a few times, but I guess his feelings for her were the reason for their fallout. He does realize that his feelings for Emily are friendly love and not being in love, but still. It's just not my thing.
However, the book was great! I loved Brandon. I truly couldn't see how she could ever be with Brandon because of what happened to her brother, but the author did an amazing job with the plot and character development. It was believable that Harper could be with Brandon regardless of the circumstances. Can't wait to read about Finn!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Nikki J gave us Brandon, the broken boy, the one I had been waiting for since reading about him in Renegade Hearts.... and this book DID NOT disappoint! It was everything I needed and more.
Brandon’s story is heartbreaking beautiful. A boy that went through hell to become a man that would go to war for those he loves. Enter Harper. Harper Yates may just be my favourite heroine of Nikki’s. She is strong, fierce but also compassionate and caring. The silent strength she exudes from the pages is admirable.
This story is amazing, and then Nikki goes and drops one hell of an epilogue that has me yearning for the next book in this series! Outstanding! Perfect! Wonderful! All the stars!
I was really lucky to get to read this fantastic book super early. I found myself getting annoyed that everyday life got in the way of me reading it. I couldn't wait to read more of Harper and Brandon. I adored Brandon in Renegade Hearts so I was excited to read his story, Nikki didn't disappoint. He's a beautiful tortured a*rsehole, you get more of his back story and you cannot help but fall in love with him. A fantastic 2nd book to a series I love, I cannot wait for Finns book. ❤️
It’s offical. I can’t get enough of this series. The characters. The writing style. The setting. It’s all brilliant!
I loved the double narrative of Harper and Brandon. I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy it as much after Emily and Ryan’s commentary but I possibly enjoyed it even more.
I don’t want to give too much away but I definitely came round to liking Brandon a lot more than in the previous story.
I thought the way Nikki incorporated it into the previous novel was fantastic. It followed on so smoothly despite the change in narrator.
I particularly enjoyed the first half and the end. I did find a section, somewhere in the middle, a little slow but that’s only compared to the fast thrilling sections that came before and after. Nikki also has a fantastic way of slipping in extra mystery aside from the main story line just to keep us on our toes.
After all the destruction and hurt Brandon caused at the end of the first book, I couldn’t even imagine how he’d come back from it all!
There’s so much anger and heartbreak, vulnerability and redemption then hope and love in this unpredictable story and it was so fucking worth the read!
Even with all the emotional angst this story gave me, there were other moments that literally had me crying with laughter. Those chatroom comments were the best!
I can’t wait to read more of the Rebels of Sandland and I just know Finn’s story is going to be just as epic as the first two.
Can't say enough about these characters. Can't wait for the next book. You will not regret reading these books. So good and unbelievably relatable. Just do it. Download and read.
I. Loved. This. Book. Nikki Summers wrote an amazing story that gives a tale of second chances at life. Brandon is such a broken soul and Harper is the girl he needs to help him. His little warrior set out too help her lion.
Oh Brandon you almost stole my heart in Renegade Hearts but now it's yours. I loved this book and Harper is now one of my favourite's heroines. It wasn't easy for her when she lost her twin brother. She hated Brandon until everything changed. I liked it when Brandon was there for her and helped her his own way. I liked how they were together and they were perfect for each other. Ending for their story was so good but that epilogue. Can't wait to read Finn's story.
Fighting is the only thing that helps him, until that fateful night when it robbed him of his life. All Brandon wants is to come out of hiding and get his life back. He watches everyone from the shadows. His friends were the only family he had left but they turned and forgot all about him. The little control over his life has slipped out of his fingers all because of her. She wants his blood, but he wants to save her.
Holding her twin brother as he breathed his last breath broke Harper. All she can see is the rage, hate, and need for revenge on the guy who stole her brother, Brandon. She knows he is out there watching her, but she is tired of playing his little game. She will go into the shadows to find him and break him as he broke her.
What exactly happened the night of the fight? Did Brandon's friends turn on him? Can Harper fix herself with the help of some online friends? Can love fix these two tortured souls or are some things unforgivable?
The first time I read this book I was hooked before I read the first page. We meet Brandon in the first Rebel of Sandland book and I needed to know more about him. Brandon made me so mad because he kept making mistakes but when he fixed it all I couldn't help but cheer. I love that even though you will feel pity for Harper she is the type of girl who doesn't need it. I love how Nikki wrote about strong females, as well as strong males, and Harper is no different. The one thing I love the most about this book is that Brandon and Harper do not let what others think about them matter to them. I want to be Harper and I want Brandon to be my best friend
Brandon and Harper are two damaged souls that end up needing each other. Brandon had a horrific childhood and has grown up to be a tattooed, sexy bad boy. Harper can hold her own and has been through the death of her brother. A totally emotional roller coaster ride with this couple.
First, definitely read book one first. It gives you some more background. Book two of this series is phenomenal. I ordered book one when it was free on amazon then immediately pre ordered book two. Nikki did a wonderful job with this series. Brandon is misunderstood. I love him. His abs Harpers love story is full of grit and pain and every emotion you can conjure. Loving it all.
I loved this book from the beginning, Brandon and Harper we're amazing. This was a page-turner I cannot stop reading. Brandon was a beautiful ashole and so needed for Harper but in the end, she was perfect for him. Nikki did it again I can say this is my favorite book of hers. All the stars for this amazing book. I can’t wait now for Finn’s story!!
Oh my god! What an amazing and addicting story. When I read the blurb of this book,I knew this one will going to be a emotional and interesting one but when I read it it was so so much more than my expectations. This book had me in tears for all the right reasons.😭
This is the story of Harper who feel angry and lost after his twin brother's death. She wants to take her revenge and make Brandon pay for his brother's murder.
"I wanted him dead, and I wanted to be there when he took his last breath, so I could tell him what a low-life shit-bag he really was."
Brandon feel angry and broken because he's hiding in shadows and everyone in his town turned their back on him.Everyone thinks that he's a murderer. He hates Harper because she painted him as a villain in his town.He wants to break her and to make her suffer.
" I wanted to see her suffer. Make her feel like she was losing her mind just like I was."
After watching her and trying his best to break her,she somehow become his obsession. Her fire and strength attracts him and make him feel happy. And now instead of breaking her,he wants to heal her and to make her feel alive💖
I absolutely loved this story, the broken, strong and determined personality of Harper and aggressive, caring and vulnerable personality of Brandon.I was absolutely amazed by the connection between them, love and passion between them and most importantly how they healed each other. It was absolutely mesmerizing.😍
"This broken man was mine. I was his. We weren’t perfect, but together we made perfect sense."
The title of this book is absolutely accurate. Yes this is the story of two tortured souls who completed each other, healed each other and loved each other unconditionally. This story is also about survival, moving on with your life and never giving up.☺️
To all the survivors,to all the people who lost their loved ones and to all the tortured souls, this is the book for you😍
I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. This book is freaking awesome! 5stars isn’t enough. Nikki’s storytelling is incredible. She drew me in and had me utterly consumed from the first page with her incredibly descriptive writing and it just got better and better the more the story developed. As dark as this book is the wit and banter was perfect. Harper was broken and grieving after her brothers death and seeking revenge, but as the story went on she became extremely strong and stood up for those she loved. Brandon was damaged, broken, misunderstood and full of self loathing, but again as the story went on he gained strength in those around him. All the characters in this book, whether they were the Renaissance Men or other characters, all had a place and enriched the storyline. Then there was Brandon’s Nan! She was absolutely hilarious and I loved her! This book is a real page turner and I certainly wasn’t expecting that twist! Epic! I highly recommend this book BUT you must read Renegade Hearts first. If any book had a message about grief then this is it. Grief is personal and affects every sufferer differently and dealt with at their own pace. I also loved the anti bullying message it gave too. 👏👏👏
Book two in the must read Rebels of Sandland series defines “all the feels”. The highs, the lows and everything in between was here...Brandon and Harper are a beautiful mess!
A broken boy and a broken girl find the most unlikely romantic connection borne from hate, grief, anger, and revenge. Brandon gives a whole new meaning to tattooed bad boy, while Harper is a force to be reckoned with. Finding solace in the most unlikely of places, these two forge a relationship that ends up being flawed but perfect!
The levels of emotion I felt while reading was totally unexpected, but Nikki J. Summers captured these characters and made them so likeable (even when maybe they shouldn’t have been) that my empathy for them felt real. I couldn’t help but embrace every part of this story. So so damn good!
Hang on for an epilogue that will put you on the edge of your seat as we get a glimpse of what’s to come in Book #3!
This book was outstanding. I have to say I wasn’t all that drawn in at first. I really didn’t not love Brandon in Renegade Hearts and I really didn’t think he was redeemable, I was so so so very wrong. Brandon is an incredible character. We get to really start seeing him as he developed a relationship with Harper without her even realizing it is him. And who I thought was a disgusting, selfish, mean jerk really is a compassionate, deeply empathetic, selfless man who would do absolutely anything for someone he cares about. Even Harper is and unexpected surprise, she starts off the book completely broken and out of control and winds up being incredibly strong. Harper and Brandon are exactly what each other needs.
This book has all sorts of twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages. This is such a great series.
The ending is a killer though as it definitely ends on a cliff hanger, but don’t worry there is still a happily ever after for Brandon and Harper.
