This is a wonderful resource for developing mindfulness as a parent, cultivating emotional intelligence, and practicing gentle parenting. What I liked best is that this book includes insights and exercises not only for toddlers but also their parents. There is plenty of space devoted to the care of the parents because, obviously, you won't have much to give your kids if your own cup is not full.
There are several simple stories to help introduce mindfulness concepts to kids as well as suggestions for many activities that will help kids develop their own sense of self and coping skills. Although there is a lot of helpful information and advice, the tone is never judgy--we are all acknowledged as fully, imperfectly human. I would recommend this for any parent as well as educators and childcare providers who work with toddlers and preschoolers--there is a lot of useful information here!
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
The layout is easy to understand and everything makes sense. The stories show opportunities to expand and flex emotional intelligence. As a former teacher I would recommend this to other educators and parents who want foundation and examples of exercises they can do with toddlers and even young elementary aged children. The illustrations are cute, even tho the nose is a little off putting to me. Some of the photographs were surprisingly large.
Key concept: mindfulness applied to kids (as title suggests).
Book contains anecdotes of different scenarios you can find yourself in as a parent and how to deal with it by staying calm and acting more on your kids primal brain’s needs rather than trying to act rationally.
Because of the anecdotes the book is rather information sparse, would have probably ranked higher otherwise.
was a quick read was ready for more longer intake. Had a mediation vibe that was cool even participating with stuff animals As this method of quite time is proven to decrease stress in a overly active kids. Was good even had sing along to me was like that new vapor rub commercial with the rub method patch on the kids chest to sleep.
It's good to be reminded that everything will be okay. Parenting is hard. It's hard juggling time for yourself when raising a toddler and this book gives some really good, mindful exercises for yourself and some exercises for your littles to help regulate emotions and self-awareness.
Parenting book with practical suggestions for developing mindfulness with children . Good practical suggestions with real life anecdotes and experiences.
A rather nice introduction to meditation for toddlers. The author also discusses positive parenting and even the relationship with oneself and others. The meditations are nice and can be practised by beginners.
The presentation is a bit unusual, with some stories in italics that continue in the main text. This can be a bit confusing when reading. I also find that some examples do not really fit into the main theme of a chapter.
The book is still a very nice read though, with an introduction to mindfulness, emotional management and positive parenting.
Ciekawa i wartościowa.
