A refreshing romantic comedy! Get ready to put your feet on the dash, turn up the music, and travel in a 1969 Mini Cooper with two witty, laugh out loud sisters in this romantic comedy. A heart-warming tale of misadventures, music, soul-searching, love, and a rescue dog named Lone-Lee.
Mar and Joan have always had an unbreakable bond. More than sisters, they are best friends. When a life-changing event tries to drag Joan down, her headstrong and playful little sister, Mar, comes to the rescue. The only cure - an epic road trip from California to New York. Along the way, Mar crosses paths with a charming man. Is he a reason, season, or a lifetime? Joan dares her to find out.
From a Napa wine tasting gone awry to a hunt for spirit animals, Mar's appetite for mischief knows no bounds. It's one uproarious adventure to the next with heartfelt moments of clarity in between.
A delightful mix between Notting Hill and Sisters. Hop in, grab your pretend microphone, and buckle up. Get ready to fall in love with Mar, Joan, and, of course, Lone-Lee.

She called the Bay Area home for ten years before moving to colorful Colorado with her handsome husband and charismatic and amazing son.
JB is an animal lover with four dogs and a rescue cat. Most days she writes, but on the off chance she isn't, you can find her trying new foods or going on adventures. She is a self-proclaimed music trivia champion, inventor of Dirty Scrabble, and a Mini Cooper enthusiast. Her favorite author is Sophie Kinsella. She's a huge Richard Curtis fan.
No Alcohol Beyond This Point is a humorous romantic comedy about two sisters on a road trip.
After finding out her husband is cheating on her, Joan convinces her sister, Mar, to take a cross country road trip with her. Joan is trying to move on and Mar feels stuck with her life. It is so funny hearing about the funny things that happen to these sisters. Some of the situations Mar and Joan get themselves in I would never even think of. I was laughing throughout the book. Mar and Joan both find romantic interests and have to decide what they want to come out of that. Both are left to determine where their future will lead and both end up with possibilities they never would’ve imagined. No Alcohol is a reminder to road trips and fun times with family and friends. I highly recommend No Alcohol Beyond this Point for fans of Sophie Kinsella and romantic comedies.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Zura Johnson and she did a fantastic job. Johnson has the perfect voice for telling this entertaining story.
Thank you Zura Johnson for the audiobook No Alcohol Beyond This Point.
People need people. Like it or not- that is the simple truth. Us humans are very social beings! However, most individuals we come across in our lives come and go. There one day and gone the next. Be that as it may, the fortunate ones in this world will have someone who stays with them forever. Through thick and thin... always there to provide love, support, and encouragement. In J.B Teller's novel, No Alcohol Beyond This Point, we are treated to a first-hand display of such loyalty and devotion. A perfect read for those who thrive on stories about love and friendship, which are drenched with a very healthy dose of comedy and fun!
The novel follows the travels and escapades of two dynamic sisters named Joan and Mar. The former has just experienced a life-altering event that threatens to bring her to her knees. Life as she knows it is no more. Fortunately for Joan, she has a secret weapon who goes by the name of Mar. A devoted sister to the core. To help get Joan out of her "funk," Mar proposes the pair go on a cross-country tour from California to New York. Let the games begin! What follows is a hilarious journey filled with adventure and intrigue. However, it also comes with sudden and unexpected romance. Where did that come from? That was not in Mar's original plan! Well... life does not always go according to plan, and we are about to find out how the spirited sisters will respond!
I found this to be a thoroughly enjoyable novel to read. The wacky and hilarious antics of the sisters kept me entirely in stitches with each passing page. The author does a fantastic job at tying together all the kooky adventures into a smooth, flowing story. So much so that she almost makes it all seen to be normal behavior! How is Teller able to accomplish that, you may ask? Simple really. The story feeds off what we all really want and long for in life- freedom, love, and re-discovery. Who would not want to join Joan and Mar on their journey? All that being said, while this story may be a side-splitter, it is ultimately about friendship, love, and relationships. That is what makes everything work so well. It is the reason why this story is so powerful.
While the novel's plot flows seamlessly through the pages, it is aptly supported by a whole host of genuine and authentic characters. From the greaseball Frank to the steadfast Will. Loving Thomas to the devoted Marie. As readers, we can clearly picture these players. They are real and believable people who we see each and every day. The stars of the show are definitely Mar and Joan, however. We are introduced to them in an outrageous fashion right from the onset of the story. After that it is full steam ahead! Their ongoing antics are hilarious and fit them to a tee. Character development at its best.
Overall, I would highly recommend No Alcohol Beyond This Point. It is a romantic comedy which is full of love, humor and excitement. It will definitely grab you right from the start as it is relentless in its execution.
Omg this is the best RomCom I have read all year (a year when EVERYONE needs to be reading RomComs to stay sane), possibly ever. This is a book about sisters, family, taking chances, having fun, and all soundtracked to awesome music. This book is truly laugh out loud funny (seriously almost every page) but also deeply moving and touching. I loved every page!
Love love love this book so far!! The author has a way of really putting you in the story right along side the characters. I couldn't stop reading but didn't want it to end either. Can't wait for her next book!
From a castle party to Tennessee whiskey, this book grabbed me in and made me a fan. Now, I must admit, Road trips make me happy, but Mar and Joan are the sisters I never had and made me laugh out loud. Their shenanigans are priceless and it felt like I was with them on their journey. I had so much fun reading it, I am now in the “No Book Zone” and feel lost. I am definitely looking forward to JB Teller’s second book next summer!!!
This book was perfect for me for the reason I have sisters about the same age as mine. And we have bond just as awesome as Mar and Joan.
The story is about two sisters with opposite personality, they have a bond that is precious, funny, entertaining and beautiful. Joan is almost 3 years older than Mar, they have already shared the same sense of humor. Joan is much more of a homebody, while Mar is a party animal. I really liked the closeness and love they shared. I sometimes got emotional while reading this book. When joan got selected in the University of Texas, Mar feels her absense and used to miss her a lot and what's more beautiful is they get each other company again when after 3 years, Joan also got the same University. They have one sister cum friend, Marie. Marie and Mar enjoyed their college life inspired by a quote "You Only Live Once". As the story progresses, you will see their bond getting more stronger, they travel together, they explore new things together, their crazy adventures are entertaining, they really set an example of a perfect sister goals.
From start to finish, No Alcohol Beyond This Point had me laughing out loud. It is such a bundle of entertainment. Once you start reading this book, you won't be able to put it down. After every page, my heart wanted to read more and more. I can’t wait to see what Mar and Joan get into next!”
A wonderful book that covers friendship, sisterhood, humor, adventures, love, enjoyment relationshipsa and yes the alcohol haha! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoy reading books that involves fun and adventure. I am so excited to read the next part!
No alcohol beyond this point is a feel good book. It’s a romcom full of adventure. It portrays a lovely relationship between sisters along with a strong bond between friends and parental support. When we grow up, sometimes we miss those little things between siblings from old simple times, especially when one goes off to college or starts their own family. I am a pretty emotional person myself and departing from meeting my family, relatives or friends was always difficult for me as well, like the sisters in this story. It’s full of humor, music references and lots of love with a happy ending. Beautiful description of country side with wineries, authentic food and handsome men. It teaches you the true meaning of coming out of a sad relationship and learning to live and love again. Definitely would make you want to take a road trip. All you want is enough money, lots of vacation time or take a sabbatical, and a carefree life.
I received this book as a goodreads giveaway and this is my honest opinion. Teller takes us on a journey with two sisters who are at crossroads in their lives. If you have a sister or were raised with someone close to you that you thought of as a sibling this book is for you. There were a few points in this novel that were a little unrealistic, but the narrative and story line keeps the reader entertained. Mar is a charismatic main character that gives the reader laughs along the way. If you are able to read and enjoy a book just as a work of fiction this delightful tale is for you. I recommend this novel for anyone who enjoys contemporary romance, chick lit, or contemporary fiction.
Lovely! A hilarious story about two sisters who embark on a roadtrip to cast their worries aside. Their wild hijinx and great coincidences and luck were just the best. I absolutely believe these are real people. They're so funny and the dynamic is legitimate. I'm fairly certain the author has a sister so I'd imagine that part is rooted in reality.
Thanks for a fantastically fun story that kept me laughing and kept me guessing. I also loved how the ending was done.
I listened to the audiobook on Audible and very much appreciated the reader who did voices and everything!

Love wine? Hate cheaters? Do you dance in the car with your girls, singing at the top of your lungs to get through all of life’s problems? Than this one’s definitely for you!
"Maybe you don't want anything now, but don't count him out -- people come into your life for a reason. You have to find out if he's a reason, season, or a lifetime."
Mar & Joan are the sisters and friends everyone wants to have in their lives. Truly the life of the party wherever they go, these were some of the most fun book characters I had the pleasure of traveling alongside in this fun road trip title. Who wouldn’t want to get in the car and just GO, on someone else’s dime to have an experience like the one depicted in this book? I know I would happily jump in the car and just GO like these ladies!
Not only was this title a fun story about friendship, family, and moving on but we got the perfect balance of women’s fiction and chick lit with swoon-worthy romances. I’m already looking forward to my next title by J.B. Teller, thank you for allowing me to read this book!
If you want to laugh out loud and go on a fun filled road trip, then ride along with Mar and Joan! Laugh at their crazy adventures during a cross country, soul searching road trip. You won’t want to put the book down until you’re finished! I can’t wait to find out what’s next for Mar and Joan!
This book was amazing! Very reminiscent of classic Sophie Kinsella. Laugh out loud funny and an great relaxing read. Can’t wait for more fro JB Teller.
I just finished reading the book. It is one of the best romantic comedy books I’ve read in awhile. The author make everything and everyone come alive. I laughed out loud, yet the closeness and tenderness of the sisters tugs at your heart. This is a must read.
Loved this book. So much fun, a reminder to live your life by the seat of your pants, and that those gal friendships are what gets you thru lifes rough patches.
J.B. Teller has you feeling every emotion along with the characters. I feel like I'm traveling right along side by side w/Joan & Mar...Highly recommend reading and sharing with your friends.
HOLY COW GUYS, this book is amazing. It's such a feel good book with a ton of humor, music references, friendship, love, relationships, alcohol, self discovery, sisterhood, the list goes on! I won this in a giveaway I entered after reading @booksaremagictoo's review. The title automatically intrigued me and I was so excited to have won @Jbteller's giveaway. Joan and Mar are two sisters from Texas who currently live in California. Mar and her friend Marie own a cupcake shop and Joan just finds out that her husband was cheating on her. The two of them decide to go on a road trip across the United States and everywhere in between to find themselves and do some soul searching. What they don't expect is to meet some influential people on the way who help them to do that very soul searching they are looking for. This book made me laugh so hard I was tearing up, but was also extremely heartwarming and was such a joy to read. Mr. LoneLee is my favorite dog ever and he may have convinced me to adopt a dog of my own! I loved seeing Joan and Mar's character development an the growth they both experienced throughout the trip. They are spontaneous, hilarious and really love each other. I loved JB Teller's writing style and this book was just what I needed to get myself out of the little reading slump I was in. I recommend this book wholeheartedly to anyone needing a lighthearted, and fun read. I am so excited there's a sequel and I'm counting down the days!

If you want a great read that will leave you feeling great and making you laugh the whole time, then this your book! It is down to earth and completely refreshing. I want to be Mar and Joan's sister! I want to grab my bags and jump in the car for a fun adventure.
Adorable story, so funny and cute. I wish she went a little more in depth with the story. I feel like some parts were skated over. Over all I am happy I read it!
No Alcohol beyond this point is what I must describe as an electrifying adventure undertaken by the two siblings Mar & Joan. The relationship between the two sisters is such a tight-knit bond that they are unequivocally called, Inseparable. So, Mar & Joana set out for an unprepared unknown adventure, in thoughts of going on a road trip across the American continent, starting from the good old California straight towards New York City.
The sudden road trip being triggered by the scruples in the love life of Joana, and the sisters being the kind who share their feelings over the air Mar decides to set off on a road trip in her little Mini Cooper to do a bit of soul searching and of course to make Joana anything and everything about her cheating husband that is Frank.
Over and across the journey they figure out and find themselves all over again, doing silly mischief and going all out on their childish whims. Sometimes their over the top friendliness might make you feel unrealistic because most of the siblings out there are frenemies rather than being soulmates. And this book does just that, make the siblings look like their actual soulmates.
No Alcohol beyond this point is a journey beyond despair and into everything that is white happiness, the ride is joyous and get more so as the girls make new acquaintances, across America's loneliest road, into the bosom of colorado and across gorges swinging their way in.
The book is light easy to read and beyond all of that hopeful, it might be regarded a little slow for the once who are not into the genre of RomCom, but once across the threshold, even you will want to know what becomes of the weird sisters and their exploits in their love life?
After reading this book I found so many similarities in my life with Marguerite and her sister Joan. I remember the same fun I had with my sister in San Francisco and our cross country ride from Los Angeles to SFO. I remember our wine nights and our secret codes.. our similar tag line “I’m not dating anyone, unless you count my love affair with wine…and coffee…and chocolate.”
It’s a beautiful story about 2 super rich sisters, there is a sibling bond, drama, love, happiness, accident that even lead to a mere survival from death, fancy cars, road trip, luxury and lots of wine..I loved it completely and more so because this reminds me of my closeness to my sister who stays in US. I loved every bit of it. Author J B Teller’s writing proves what an amazing and fun loving character she is. One won’t get bored and will have smile on her/his face while reading this book. Best part is the audio version of it...
I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for reminding me all the lovely memories with my sister.
If you love your sister then this is the best gift for her...
This was a cute little romantic comedy. A little too perfect (cheating husband aside) in many ways, but "suspension of disbelief" and all that. Two sisters with a great relationship, great relationship with their parents, road trip - both happen to find super perfect guys even though they weren't even looking for that. Also a dog. Plenty of money and time and ability to pretty much live the dream, doing whatever they want. But it was cute and funny and a welcome shfit from the WW2 or dystopian/apocalyptic that is often on my TBR list of late.
Older protagonists, so a little more mature with the sexual situations (not Harlequin romance bodice ripper) and a little language.
I received a copy of the audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review. I really liked the narration, the narrator (Zura Johnson) was great, in enunciation, character voices, and just very pleasing to listen to.
