Rate this book
The love of my life has betrayed me. A past love I forgot has returned. And they both want me back. So, what do I do? Run off to solve a brand-new ancient mystery, of course!

Nia Rivers knows better than anyone that immortality comes at a terrible cost. After all, she's lost entire centuries-and a past relationship-from her memory. So when she hears the Greek gods have found a way to give eternal life to mortals, she heads to Athens to investigate the rumors of a cult of Demeter. What she finds are clues that suggest her own past is entwined in the rituals.

Now, with the help of her bestie Loren, Nia must once again unearth the truth. Are the Olympians the villains of this chapter in history or the benevolent benefactors they claim to be? Her anguish over Zane's betrayal and her conflicting feelings for Tres prove a painful distraction. But if Nia can't get her head in the game, the Titans will rise again, and the souls of all humans on Earth will be at risk...

And that's a little more important than Nia's love life. For now, at least.

Get this hot urban fantasy featuring spine-tingling adventure, twists on historical mysteries, and thrilling romance, where Tomb Raider meets Indiana Jones-and they live forever!

I can't believe I rated this one star but I am so fed up with this book. I hated the love triangle and how she couldn't make up her fucking mind about who she wanted to be with. Tres is courting her and they kiss like 10 times but then she fucking flies back to see Zane and even SLEEPS with him excuse me but that's cheating...you don't get to have a double delight in a relationship. If you don't like Tres then don't kiss him. geez. And her excuse for all this mess? "I'm just trying to find myself?" WTF. What a way to "find" yourself. And I thought she said she was going to forgo relationships after Zane. I understand she's just testing the waters with Tres but making out with each other is pretty intimate & relationship-like. And after she kisses Tres, Zane is standing there. This is after they SLEPT together even though they broke up. LIKE THE FUK. Zane was also like THE FUK. NIA IS A TERRIBLE PERSON.

ALSO CANNOT HANDLE NIA & HER DUMB ASS MEMORY LOSS THAT IS STILL UNRESOLVED. It is getting tedious!

Despite this, I will be reading the next book bc I'm a huge fan of Jasmine but seriously, these two authors have to step it up. Cut the crap with Nia and her tstl syndrome or I'm cutting the series off.

DONE after my angry typing rant. >:(

DNF mainly because Nia's "torn between two lovers" thingy is annoying me.

Some people might like this but I'm always getting distracted of Nia's multiple love life and her "every good looking guy seems to be her ex" thing.

In this installment Loren and Nia are looking for an artifact called the Nunnan Tablet which is said to depict the Eleusinian Mysteries. During their search they find out that there are other kinds of immortals. The Greek gods are actually real (even if it is only the main six, as they can't have children, so e.g. np Persephone). And there are also humans, who have given up their soul either willingly (Chosen) or not (Demon).

Demeter and Nia seem to have been friends once upon a time, but as usual Nia has repressed a memory she didn't like and Demeter is reluctant to share this secret. What I like about this series is that the authors take details like e.g. that 3 of the people on the Nunnan tablet are bigger than the others and spin a story around that fact.

There are also many great characters in these books. I instantly liked the Greek gods. Tres was already a favorite of mine and it was real funny how Nia and him ganged up on Bet regarding his relationship with Demeter.

However I am starting to have some real trouble with Nia. Besides the fact that she is pretty immature and the constant "It belongs in a museum", which even Indiana Jones had trouble pulling of, got really annoying, my growing dislike for her is based on 2 things:

First, she always complains that people have secrets from her, in this case Demeter. I agree with Nia that had Demeter come clean, even though she was embarrassed about this secret, then maybe the whole situation could have been avoided. But here is the thing, the person who keeps the most secrets from Nia is herself. Because unlike the other immortals she actively represses her memory. That we know of her past meeting with the Lin Kuie, her past with the Greek gods and her knowledge of the Mysteries (though this time at least she kept sort of a memory aid that was so cryptic that even she didn't know what it meant) and of course her prior relationship with Tres or Zane. Some of that knowledge is vitally important, so how about having a vault were all notebooks about those memories are locked up or have either Zane or Tres keep them for you.

Second, her relationship with Zane and Tres. I have never been a fan of love triangles and this series most certainly won't change my mind. But for the first time I am not rooting for one of the guys (though if I were it would be Tres because Zane is a little too pussy whipped for my taste), instead I am rooting against her.

Here are some major spoilers to the relationship part of the book to show why I am so annoyed.

Demeter's Tablet: a Nia Rivers Adventure is book two in this amazing series. In this book Nia is out to find or figure out Demeter's tablet but from those whom she has talked to, they all say it never existed. Nia is battling her emotions concerning her break up with Zane but she needs to figure this out for herself. Then crossing paths with another lover from the past throws her for a loop. She's attracted to him but she's questioning it. Her best friend Loren isn't helping because she wants Nia to hook back up with him so that she can live in the lap of luxury. Now they have arrived in Athens after learning that the Greek gods have given their Chosen everlasting life, so long as they choose. Nia wants to learn more about this and the woman who keeps appearing in her dreams. So now Nia will delve into these new things, interact with these gods who remember her but she does not remember them and strive to learn the truth of it all.
Demeter's Tablet is a book that grabbed my attention and took off with it before I knew what was happening. Right from the beginning I was totally engaged with this story. I couldn't put it down if I tried. Nia is so engaging as she struggles with her immortality. It weighs on her but she endures. She is dealing with the heartbreak of her break up but she's not letting it weigh her down. Her best friend is such a great character that I love her one minute and want to smack her the next. LOL! I absolutely loved it. The dynamics between the characters is so engaging and fun to read.
There was nothing that I didn't like in this book. The story is so well written and draws you in right from the beginning. For me not many novels can boast that but this book really hits the mark for me. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. Two thumbs up to the author. Fantastic read and a job very well done indeed.

When I finish a book that I've really enjoyed I get this exciting flattery feeling in my tummy, and that's exactly the feeling I got finishing this book (and still have whilst I'm typing this review). I loved it and I enjoyed it even more than I did the first.

It's such an exciting read. I love that the story arc is fresh and new and that's part of what's keeping me interested. But the world building and characters are also amazingly done too. My favourite character is Loren (she should definitely get her own book), she's really come into her own in this book and she had much more presence than she did in the first. She cracks me up every scene she's in, and I love how she is a great, and honest friend to Nia.

We learnt a lot more about Nia, the immortals and her history in this book. It's great to be uncovering everything about Nia right alongside her. The love triangle in this book got just that little bit more intense. I don't have a clear favourite between the two and I'm undecided about which is right for Nia. Part of me is just thinking she should be able to have both, but then I'm a fan of reverse harem books where you don't have to choose. I'm looking forward to seeing where the authors go with that part of the story.

There were plenty of surprises and twists thrown into this book and I really enjoyed some of the new characters we got to meet. The end of the book has set the scene nicely for the next one and I'm really looking forward to reading that one, in fact I can't wait! This book gets the full five stars from me and I recommend it to anyone who's looking for a new urban fantasy read, however do make sure to read book 1, Dragon Bones, first. A real enjoyable read and it looks like this series is shaping up to be one of my favourites.

Holy wow! This story takes you on one hell of a wild ride! I LOVE the creativity that takes you from the ocean,to Egypt, Rome, and Greece all in one book, without making the story heavy and confining. This is phenomenally written with tons of action and never a dull moment. There are points that seem dull, until you get to the next part of the story and it comes back into play to add a whole new layer of depth and complexity to the story. Holy cow, the ending of this book??!!?!! I cannot wait for the next story!! I can't wait to see what Nia and Loren get up to next, and the setting for the next book just so happens to be my hands down favorite place on earth! Thank you so very, very much for allowing me to review this book, each one gets better and better.

I love this series! This book captured my attention from the beginning and held it to the end. It's fast paced, full of action, mystery, immortals, ancient gods and a dangerous adventure. I love that Nia is an archaeologist and loves to bring treasures and their stories out for the people to know. Nia has been alive for so long, she has forgotten much of her past. Each time she is on an adventure, she relearns about a forgotten time. This is a book that you can immerse yourself in. When the end arrives, all you want is the next book in this series!

Tip that refrigerator

Nia is still hanging with her adventures, solving problems, remembering and learning about her past in small doses. I don't like her indecisiveness when it comes to her love life but I guess that what you would call #immortalproblems. I hope it doesn't take her 10 books to figure it out. I'm looking forward to more answers about her past and not just through dreams and splashes of memory. For her age and since she is all about preserving lost history, you would think she would keep a diary...ijs

Nia worries too much about Zane and Tres. Looks like they can, and have, taken care of each other thru all time. They have more info than she does and won’t enlighten her, she needs some alone time, like Loren keeps telling her. Can’t wait for the next book, and maybe Loren’s books.

I was selected to review this book and given an advanced review copy,I could not find a way to bring it up on kindle, I really read it though. I read the first book and it was OK. Jasmine Walt is one of my favorite authors and the first book was good, had great historical references and likable characters. It was well written, as her books usually are. It was missing the attitude I like from her other main characters but it was well researched and had adventure. I enjoyed it. This book I loved. Basically the first book laid down the foundation and introduced the characters. This one tied several different stories together and made the main character real. Sequels are rarely better than the first book, but this one was amazing. The main character seems to be having a huge identity crisis as she forgets most of her life and friends quite frequently and none will help her.everyone seems to conceal her past from her and she is getting tired of it. She wonders about her origins and has a boyfriend she dated for 500 years at least and keeps going back to.plus there is mythology, gods, historical artifacts, learning how to be friends with a person so different from her, a bunch of guys that cause her more confusion plus the adventures and normal saving the world type thing. This book made me really think and realize there is a tons more to what nia is than she knows and her relationship she keeps forgetting parts of makes me suspicious. I honestly was reading this because I love jasmine Walt's books and enjoy the writing.I never expected it to pull me in as much as the other series. Now I have tons of questions and can't wait for the 3rd book! It is definitely worth reading, especially if you weren't as excited by the first one as you expected. (Though I still gave the first one 4 stars,it was good but this one was a great sequel) sorry for the run on sentences, I don't want to spoil it for anyone but wanted to explain how great the book was!

I received a digital advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was amazing and I read it in one day because it was just that good and I couldn't put it down. Nia is back with her new human bestie Loren who seem to be opposites and yet are so great together. I love reading about their banter and would love having a girl like her for a bestie.

This unlikely duo is in search of a tablet known as Demeter's Tablet which leads them on quite the adventure from a weird would be orgy in Istanbul all the way to Rome where the ancient Gods and Goddesses are still very much alive and more of Nia's past will be revealed.

This book was full of adventure, humor, mystery, magic and at times frustration because I wanted to know how Nia was connected to the Gods and hoping to learn where Nia really came from. Well the first part was answered though the second is still quite the mystery.

I highly recommend reading this book which reminds me of a fascinating mixture of Indiana Jones, Mythology and a reminder that you can always get through anything life throws at you with friends at your side. Plus there's the Broody Billionaire to consider and a few other people that keep popping up to spice things up.

Can't wait until the next book which I haven't read but know already that I will love!

Lately, I have read LOTS of second books in a series, and I have found, for a great majority, the second book has been loads better than the first. This is the second book in the Nia Rivers Adventures series, and it definitely follows that pattern. Not that the first book in this series was awful; it was also very good. It’s just that this book seems to have hit a great stride. Nia is dealing with events from her past that she can’t remember, and for the events taking place in this book, it is vitally important that she remembers. I love this part of the books; I’m hoping she will gradually get some of her memories back, but the journey there is fascinating. Along with this book being well-written, the plot kept the book moving at a great pace throughout, and I was so wrapped up in the book, I didn’t want to put it down. The romance is great in the book, too, and it doesn’t really overwhelm the other parts of the story. I have a slight pet peeve about this, and this is all on my own and nothing to do with the authors, but I am not sure I like the guy I think Nia will ultimately choose. Anyway, this is a great addition to the series, and I am waiting on pins and needles to find out what is coming next for Nia! Highly recommend! Thanks to the author for the e-copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

When you are an Immortal, you are bound to forget a few things from time to time. Names. Places. Which gods or demons are your allies, and which are your aspiring doom. It makes for interesting times, and could be why Nia is an archaeologist, because sites don't lie.

This tale follows Dragon Bones, but kicks it up a notch or two. The action takes place back and forth across the Aegean, mostly among what used to be called the 'jet set', some of whom are beings with vast powers and great antiquity. The pace is fast here, more so than Dragon Bones, and is almost cinematic more than narrative, and builds to what can fairly be called an earth shattering climax. The reader is carried to a great many places, chasing clues with Nia from a bath, to an elegant high rise, and down the close corridors of a crumbling labyrinth, among other places.

This time, Nia, usually accompanied by Loren who is usually alert and on point (ah, but some of those men, and the yacht!), has particular difficulty fitting the odd pieces of evidence together from visions, artifacts and places. When she does, she finds that not only she, but everyone she knows, stands on the edge of catastrophe.

Rated five stars because the book is completely satisfying. A fun read in a unique universe.

*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from the author*

Loooved this one! The first one felt like I was walking through tar to get to the golden bits but this one totally came at me like a freight train of giggles and feels. I loved Loren in the first installment, and she really keeps things light in this one as she bff's it up with her partner in crime, Nia. The Immortal certainly had more emotional things to deal with, and though I didn't get anything directly of her from her past, it still was a fun as hell trip to see her get in the middle of a looming battle amongst the Greek gods. I laughed out loud so much. It helped with the sadder things, like Nia trying to figure out what it was exactly that she wanted. The feels were of all types, but intense, all the same. It was just really entertaining all around. I even had a time or two of wanting to shake her when she did stupid things, but in the end, they all panned out. The writing was great and flowed well, the world building was pretty cool and unique (I loved what they came up with) and I can't wait for the third installment. Just when I thought it couldn't get better....

Nia Rivers may be an Immortal, surrounded by love triangles with her kind, many with pasts she doesn't even remember. One memory she has help with this time around is being besties in the past with a Greek Goddess, Demeter. Nia's goal as a treasure hunter is to find Demeter's tablet, rumored to be a depiction of the Eleusinian mysteries, initiations of believers into Demeter's cult. So this is work and pleasure combined, right? If only she could remember more and be sure people aren't conveniently using her lack of memories to their own ends.

There is a previous book in this series, and reading that first will make a lot of things clearer, but it is possible to read this book alone (why would you want to? Read 'em both!)

I am a very big fan of Jasmine Walt's books. Yup, all of them I've read so far :)

A Greek Adventure:
The pace of the book was perfect and kept me interested in the story right from the beginning. Nia has problems with remembering things that occurred in her past and people she has met before. We don’t know why she can’t remember. Nia is also dealing with her breakup with Zane and with Tres who she had a relationship with many years ago who she has met again. We have amusing interactions with her friend Loren while they commiserate over the breakups of their boyfriends while trying to find Demeter’s tablet. We also get to interact with some Greek gods too! Definitely some twists you do not expect. This was a well written story full of action that sets you up for the next book. I will definitely be reading the next book in this series!

I still don't know if I hate Nia. She just...she acts like every artifact out there is for her to "give" voice and story to. I guess being an immortal can make her play god and whatnot. But that's probably the most annoying part of her. That and her projection about being forgotten when all along she's the one forgetting a lot of things. Ugh. Then there's Zane and Tres. I still don't know, either, if this is RH but ffs I don't ever want to choose between the men. Last but not least, I freaking love the Olympic Gods. Huh u hu I love me some dysfunctional family and they take it probably to the extremes but in the end they're a family. They truly care for one another. They love one another. Unlike the immortals...

Nia Rivers is the kind of girl we all wish to e. She's smart, spunky, resourceful, and has an awesome BFF.
In this second installment, we not only learn of ancient artifacts but also of the birth of the Greek Gods. These authors present it in a most unique and intriguing manner that makes you thirst for more. In addition to the action and everything else that makes the Nia Rivers Adventures wonderful, this book also shows the meaning of true friendship and the importance of it, whether you are immortal or not.
I can't wait to read the next book which will be another incredible adventure.

A great second book in this series!
You'll need to read the first to make sense of some of the relationships in this one.

A kickass adventure stopping old greek gods from rising and eating peoples souls and destroying the world by a female immortal and a human reporter with attitudes.

Amusing and funny, some great little details from the Greek god myths in this story with nods to some of the other great Greek gods based fantasy tales from the characters.

Some trashy romantic scenes so not suitable for children.

In LOVE!

This series is tied as one of my favorites from Jasmine Walt! Bain's Chronicles is an amazing series that I couldn't get enough of! The action and adventure in this series with Nia is enough to make you want to raid tomes on your own! I love the banter between Nia and Loren, not to mention the interactions between the other Immortals. Nia's love life is pulling on my heartstrings and I definitely look forward to where book three will lead us. It sounds like it will be amazinggggg!

All This for ME??!!??

This adventure series is an AMAZING buddy adventure. Two smart women with looks. & charm to spare team up to make doing the right thing look easy & fun.

BUT these stories are so full of history, mystery, mythology and imagination that you feel these authors invested a life time of hard work just for the privilege of telling you a story..to make you smile.

Thank you Jasmine & Ines. It was my honor indeed.

Audiobook review: Demeter’s Tablet finds Nia & her gal pal meeting up with gods. This story is about 1/4 archeology, 1/2 mushy love triangle, and 1/4 action. The story is good but if you were expecting the amount of action seen in the first book you’ll likely be disappointed. The first hour or so, the narrator comes off as mechanical (same as the 1st book) with unnecessary & unusual slight pauses after each sentence.

Nia Rivers has a new best friend, whether she wants her or not. Loren is sticking with Nia and also cheering team Broody Billionaire rather than Zane. Of course Nia did not expect that she would have to help save Loren from a bunch of Greek Gods who are apparently very close and dysfunctional as a family. Of Course Nia's completely forgotten that she was on first name basis with them. Loved the story.

Another amazing chapter in Nia story.

There are so much to love about this book. Nia is amazing, she's smart and a badass but she also has flaws that are very relatable. She makes mistakes and she owns up to them.

I love how history is mixed into these books as well as bits of magic and mythology.

This is a great read and I cannot wait for the next one.

WOW!! I didn't think it was possible but this 2nd book in the series is even better than the first book. Full of action and adventure, humor, romance, magic, and mythology, this story takes you on an incredible journey. I love the strong female character, Nia - her well developed character makes the story.

If you want a book truly well written with a unique but engaging story and a kick ass heroine, well look no further you have found it. This is book 2 in the Nia series and just like the first it's an attention grabber that totally draws into the world created. I read this book in one sitting and by the end I was wishing for more.

What an amazing story! There is a disfunctional family, a love triangle, a dash of history, and some sassy best friends who happen to be pretty bad ass. This book can be read alone, but it is much better if you have read the first book. Book one brings everyone together and explains how the friendships/relationships work between all the characters. I highly recommend this book to everyone!

A big thank you to Jasmine Walt for the ARC for my honest review. Sorry I am a bit late. This is book number 2 in the series and I have not read book number 1. In my opinion this is not a stand alone book-I read it-I liked it but I think I missed a lot because I hadn't read the first book. Just my opinion. I loved the opening and the names are different and unique. I loved Loren-she is the crazy person I wish I was. I was also a bit frustrated as there is no clear cut ending-so if you are expecting everything wrapped up it doesn't happen. I understand it but don't like it. Overall a good book-but I would recommend reading them in order. Let me know if you agree
