During a holiday feast in King Arthur's caste, a mysterious stranger arrives, inviting the king and his knights to play an unusual--and deadly--game. One young knight--Gawain, nephew of the king--bravely confronts the stranger, and brash action that has horrific consequences. This is Part I of a two-part retelling of the famous story of Gawain and the Green Knight. This Latin novella is accessible to advanced beginners or low-intermediate readers of Latin.
Wow, this little Latin reader was fascinating to read! I could hardly put it down! It has a medieval story line, with the main character as Gawain, King Arthur's nephew. He has to fight a giant green knight who challenges the king. But beware, this book ends on a massive cliff-hanger, so be ready to hang on to the story until you can get the next book! Magic, knights, adventure, swordfights, mystery, and bravery are all part of this Latin reader by Andrew Olimpi. I can't wait to read the sequel when it comes out!
I read this book in my Latin 3 class and it really helped me to understand different endings and actions throughout Latin. I thought the story was very interesting but also confusing and a little weird.
