Mountain Men #2

Jagged Edge

SEAN:

Rule number one: don’t play with fire.

As an outdoorsman, hosting a survivalist reality show is my dream job—lots of cameras, but it’s taken me all over the world. When we show up in beautiful Park City to film, I’m expecting a quiet, relaxing break from the norm. Eddie’s an alluring change in plans.

He’s laid-back, unhurried, and drives me up the wall every time we’re together—but I can’t get him out of my head. I don’t care that I’ve never been with a man before, Eddie is the breath of fresh air I didn’t realize I needed, and it isn’t long before things get out of hand.

After a terrifying search and rescue mission, we start flirting with danger, and I suddenly find his carefree attitude magnetic. This isn’t like me; I don’t do casual. But I don’t know if Eddie can do serious, either.

And I can’t let him get any closer without things getting complicated.

EDDIE:

There’s a hard man under that harder exterior.

I don’t get starstruck. Not even when my brothers decide to host a gorgeous survival show star and his crew at our bed & breakfast. I’m usually busy working with our local search and rescue team, so I don’t expect to get along with a television crew—until I meet Sean.

For an outdoorsman, Sean is more than good looks and charisma. He’s a survivalist with a good head on his shoulders, and I’m unexpectedly intrigued. Trouble is, he’s a perfectionist who never turns off, and my laid-back attitude rubs him raw.

He says he’s not here for romance, though the long glances we share make me wonder if that’s true. But the closer we inch together, the worse it’ll hurt when he leaves. He’s everything I’m not, and when the show wraps, he’ll have to decide to stay or go.

We may be the definition of “it’s complicated.”

This is the second book in the Mountain Men series. It can be read as a standalone with no cliffhanger.

This is the second book in this series and I have to say I was really excited to see that it is Eddie's story. I was curious about him after the first book featuring his brother Parker and I definitely loved Eddie! He really is such a likable guy with a great heart. Sean, oh Sean, well he took a bit longer for me to fall for him. I did really like these two together and was hoping to see Sean open up and let Eddie in.

So, in this book, Eddie is running the B&B with Parker as well as working the local search and rescue. The two are preparing for a reality survival show coming to stay and that includes host Sean. There's a chemistry between the two right from the start but at first it's not something Sean is interested. He's not looking to give his heart away and have it broken again. Plus, he's pretty rigid, convinced he's always right and his way is best. Eddie's nonchalant, go with the flow personality isn't exactly a fit. They start spending some time together though, Sean even volunteering to help Eddie with some search and rescue missions, and it's there he starts to see how valuable Eddie is, in general and to him.

There is a good amount of will-they, won't-they in this story. Sean is pretty closed off, but once he lets Eddie in, he really does. I loved seeing that change in him and it made this a really touching read. Eddie is just all around great and so easy to love. I definitely enjoyed this book and look forward to more of these characters.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in the Mountain Men series. In this book, Eddie finds he is very attracted to Sean, the star of a reality show that is filming around the B&B he owns with his brother Parker. Sean is the host of the reality show about a group of celebrities trying to survive in the wild. Sean is a survival expert and Eddie is interested in talking to him because Eddie is on the search and rescue team in Park City. Sean is straight, but he thinks Eddie is beautiful and is drawn to him. Eddie and Sean talk about their outdoor skills and Eddie realizes Sean has to be right about everything. Sean and Eddie can't help their feelings, but Sean warns Eddie it will only be a fling and he has no plans to stay. Eddie is ok with a fling, but Sean seems to run hot and cold with him, making him confused as to what Sean really wants. I enjoyed this book, i like Eddie and was glad he got his own book. I was not sure about Sean, i liked him at times and hated him at others. I think that is a sign of a good story when the characters really invoke my feelings. I liked Sean and Eddie together, but i hated the way Sean treated Eddie at times. Eddie deserved to be happy and to be treated like a prince. I think Sean was confused and scared to try to love again. Another great one from Jason.

What happens when you realize you are not the smartest person in the room? Sean is the host of the reality show, Human Nature. He has spent years perfecting his craft as a survivalist expert. He carries a bit of emotional baggage with his backpack. He provides the contestants with what he considers best practices that will ensure their success on the show. Eddie, worked at the B&B with his brother, Parker. Parker was the more serious sibling. Eddie was willing to step out and have a little opportunistic fun during his day. Sean is a right/wrong person. Eddie is more of a finding the best available option person. Eddie has Search & Rescue training under his belt, so he has legitimacy to challenging Sean. Sean is distracted by unexpected feelings and reactions toward Eddie. Is Eddie able to reign in his attraction to Sean? Does Sean figure out why he is more focused on Eddie? Will Sean take that walk on the wild side? Will he enjoy it enough to walk in step with Eddie? Very nice story. All the characters are developed and fun. Mr Collins can not write a bad story. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I've finished the book, and I still don't know if I only just sort of dislike Sean, or actively dislike him. I mean, props to the supposed straight guy recognizing that he's attracted to another guy and not freaking the fuck out, but actually (sort of) just accepting it right away, but the push me/pull me crap he does with Eddie is pure shit. Not once, but 3 times! And then he's got the nerve to not get why Eddie is fed up? I'd have throat punched him when he came back wanting a second chance.

Eddie is a better person than I am, for giving Sean so many chances, but I also wanted to shake him until his teeth rattled for giving him so many chances. There's being forgiving, and then there's being a doormat. At least he finally called Sean on his bullshit, but I actually just wanted him to tell him to go fuck himself, even though this is a romance book.

And it turns out, though I kind of already knew, that I don't actually like HFN endings that much. I want a full-blown HEA, not what this ended as. Not very satisfying to me, unfortunately.

When I read Rugged Guard I got the feeling that Eddie was not a really serious kind of guy. He is a different kind of guy. He is happy and easy to get along with and not much flusters him. The Bed & Breakfast is hosting the cast and crew for a reality show. The host is a serious survivalist named Sean. When they met he had no sense of humor and didn't really talk much beyond his job. I loved the way Eddie could ruffle Sean's feathers so easily and have him thinking about his way of doing things. Sean thought Eddie had no idea what he was talking about but he found out differently. What I didn't like was the way Sean treated Eddie. It's fine if Sean didn't want anything serious, but he kept jerking Eddie around. Pulling him in and flirting then ghosting and avoiding him. I did love how easily Eddie could relate and talk to everyone. The cast, crew, and even a 10 year old kid, Joey. Once Sean got over himself and finally connected with Eddie he was like a different person. I am looking forward to Austin's story. I requested a free advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.

Although I enjoyed this somewhat, I didn't like as much as book one in this series, mainly because I had a hard time with Sean for almost half the story. I couldn't totally dislike him but I hated the way he treated Eddie, and then seemed surprised that Eddie was upset. Anyway, that did improve as the story went along and, as usual with this author, we have a decent tale of two men - one going straight to gay, so maybe I should take it a bit more easy on him - and one sweet man who falls hard, I loved him. My biggest disappointment was that Derek was a no show, he was mentioned a few times but never actually appeared in any of the story-line. Parker was there, and even Austin briefly, but no Derek, he was my favourite in book one, so I'm pouting a little over that. But, all in all a great read.

This second book in this new series from Jason Collins was an incredible love story. Eddie meets the man of his dreams but gets a reality check because the man of his dreams spends most of the time changing his mind on what he wants when it comes to Eddie. Sean has to be the most infuriating character I’ve ever read! He can’t make up his mind when it comes to Eddie. The time line in the book isn’t very long maybe a couple of weeks but their relationship is a roller coaster from start to finish. And I loved every bit of it!

I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!!

As much as I loved the first book in the series, I loved this one more. I really loved the dynamic between Eddie and Sean. The scenes between the two are steamy but what really got to me were their personalities. They were perfect for each other. I really loved the survivalist theme of the book with Sean's career and Eddie's job in Search and Rescue. I enjoyed the banter between the two. I enjoyed seeing Parker again but was slightly disappointed by the lack of Derek (though he is mentioned a lot)and Austin scenes. I would recommend this book.

Great story that is a wonderful addition to the series. Eddie gets his story and his HEA with Sean, the host of a survivalist reality show that the B&B is hosting. They have a strong attraction but Sean has never been with a man before and runs hot and cold all the time. Eddie is incredibly patient with Sean and it's just what Sean needed to be true to himself and to Eddie. Wonderful story that will leave you wanting more from this series. I liked my first sight of the book. The cover enticed me to read about Eddie and Sean. I think that the art was perfect for this story.
I think that the opening pages of this story really did a great job at introducing me to the main characters. Its a nice beginning to a decent story.
I enjoyed reading about Eddie and Sean. They were interesting. I liked their story line. It really kept me entertained.
I received this as an arc and freely left this review.

YOU CAN’T LET THE PAST DICTATE THE PRESENT OR FUTURE

I rated this story 3.5

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review

Eddie is a co-owner of a Mountain Bed and Breakfast. He is also a Search and Rescue member. He meets Sean when Sean’s films a survivalist reality show on the property. Sean believes he is straight until he meets Eddie. The sparks fly and they both have to do some soul searching and come to terms with their pasts in order to find out if they are to be together

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Eddie is getting aggravated over the hot and cold signals, one he was fine if it was just a one and done thing but was it true that Eddie was the only guy or was it just a playboy line that Sean uses to get he way? Sean never wanted to feel the sparks of fireworks again but touching Eddie cause the fireworks to combustion. Unwilling to settle down so after one hookup he has to push him away. With one mispoken word may destroyed any contentions they may have had.  Ole man I just about had a tear-jerk reaction, but so worth it, after all that was the wakeup call someone needed just.... dang wasn't expecting it like that.

I was excited to see Eddie get his story but I wasn’t expecting Sean. Eddie is a happy-go-lucky kind of guy and I enjoyed getting to know more about him. Sean, on the other hand, frustrated me to no end. He gave me emotional whiplash with his hot to cold vacillations. On more than one occasion I actually yelled out loud at him. He had me wondering if he got off on head games. When you get to see what is driving him to behave as he does it makes sense but boy did I want to smack some sense into the guy. Eddie has the patience and forgiveness of a saint. I liked that he didn’t just give in and agree with Sean but stood his own ground or just smiled and disagreed with him. Once Sean opens up and admits his own feelings and desires these two really clicked.

Jagged Edge is book 2 in the Mountain Men series. Eddie works on the Search and Rescue team and also helps his brother run a Bed & Breakfast. When Sean and the crew from the tv show Human Nature come to stay at the B&B while filming sparks fly between him and Eddie. This is an enjoyable steamy book of will they, won't they as Sean doesn't seem to know what he wants, and then they get stuck in a cabin together during a down pour. I do like Sean and Eddie together, though it seemed Sean knew more than he was letting on, they're good for each other and I look forward to more in the series.

*I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Yes to two!

This series is different and fun! I love how they are not supposed to end up together but they fall together and are so spicy. I love the danger and excitement and how we get the different personalities coming together. I really enjoyed Eddie and Sean. Can’t wAit for more!

There's a lot of new MM book but they aren't up my alley or not interesting enough for me to keep going. I need a bit of a fresh air, in a form of a really good book.

This book is really good, I enjoy their relationship very much but I don't like Sean's indecisive attitude. He's a grown man but acted like a child.

I really enjoyed book #1 in the Mountain Men series but Jagged Edge was a disappointment. I didn't care about Sean and also did not enjoy Eddie so my rating is lower than for book 1. I'm half way through book 3 and it is better than 2 but not as good as 1. All 3 books seem to have almost identical sequences of interactions.

It’s forcing me to review this book before I have read it.

I haven’t read it and I am having to review it. Every time I get rid of the screen and then use my right arrow to move to the first screen the darn review this book screen goes up. I can’t move forward without filling out this review. I hope this works!!!

A reality show is filming near, and some of the crew is staying at Eddie's B&B. Sean is the host and survivalist. Sean does not want anything permanent in his life and is not ready for the feelings Eddie provokes in him.

Poor guy

Sean has had it hard and determined not to get close to anyone that he could lose again. But Eddie has his own agenda and is determined to spend whatever time he can with the brooding man. The characters are so real and perfect! I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Very enjoyable read with fun characters

The book started out as a mystery and ended up as a love story with a possible twist at the end. I was enjoying the brothers love interests and the progression of how they developed was a believable plot.

Just as good as the first book.

Sean and Eddie had a rough start to begin with but casually warmed up to each other. I had doubts if Sean would make a commitment or for that matter Eddie. I still would've liked to have a ring given

Yet another Jason worth reading

But do have problems with the sex always being one sided. Isn't any of his "straight but falls for gay" characters even the least bit curious about being a bottom. Jason are strictly a "top only" ?

This second installment of the series wasn't as eventful or suspenseful as the first one. The story still kept me on my toes, though, because there was Sean who took some time to figure out what he wanted.

Despite the small irritation at Sean's warm then cold behavior with Eddie, I really enjoyed the story. This author has a knack for writing amazing characters and having the reader completely involved into their lives, cheering from the sidelines for their happy ending.

Eddie and Sean definitely have things to work through, but their story is sweet and tender. And hot! Can't forget about that. I like that Eddie doesn't give up on Sean and they eventually get their HEA. I was hooked from the very beginning to the very end with this book. I definitely recommend it.

I enjoyed this story. I've liked Eddie since Book1. Wasn't too sure about Sean at first, but he and Sean were great together, when Sean finally stopped pulling away. I'm curious about the new arrival to the B&B at the end... Can't wait for Book3.
