Someone Like You

Rate this book
A former Navy SEAL. A father. And totally off-limits.

He was a rugged man she met in a bar--a man Grace couldn't get out of her head...

A week later, she came home to find him sweaty and shirtless with a tape measure in hand, remodeling her loft. As a Parker-King, she's not allowed to want someone like Noah Dalton. She's sick of her life, though. Sick of the rules of being a Parker-King. She wants something more, even if it isn't forever. Finding comfort in the arms of a SEAL is easy, not falling for one . . . not so much.

Noah left the military and moved to New York for one reason: his daughter. Not for some uptight businesswoman--a Manhattan elitist. So when Grace offers him the kind of relationship that no hot-blooded man can turn down, he should say no. And when her seemingly put-together life spins out of control, and his instincts to protect and save kick in, he should turn away. But he doesn't.

A standalone contemporary military romance.

Once again I'm feeling so grateful for indie authors who ask me to review their work. They are so many out there and so many are talented. I've discovered quite a few during the last year, some worked for me some don't but when they do, I know I have one more author to add to the ones I look forward to reading again. And you, there's no such things as too many books... same apply to authors.

I had zero expectations when I begun reading Someone Like You, I read the first 4 chapters a couple of weeks ago so I was intrigued with Grave & Noah. Ex-SEAL with a rich business woman? Two worlds apart colliding? Sign me in!

"The goddamn world was against us from the start. We never had a chance."

Noah & Grace together was evidence from the start. Their attraction is tangible the moment they met. Beginning a relationship is off limits for so many reasons but the pull is too strong to be ignored.
I've loved the part where they turn around each other, when they get to know each other as "friends". There was some kind of slow burn even if it didn't last that long and I enjoyed every moment of it.

" Today is what matters. Fight and make it through the "todays" because living that way means there will always be a tomorrow.

Each time they were together was more powerful than the other. They gave each other strength to go on with what happens in their live.
Noah was sweet, attentive, caring and protective . This guy melted my heart so many times I couldn't count them all.
Grace was a character I enjoyed quite a lot. She's not the rich woman you could meet, she doesn't care who she's supposed to be. She just wants to live the life the way she wants. She was a strong female lead even with her insecurities.

The many twists and turns were what make me give this book 5 stars instead of 4. Brittney, you surprised me with the different directions the story took and with how you wrapped it all. Everything falls into place at one point in the book and it was perfectly done! I was really pleased from A to Z!

Now I'm patiently waiting for Corbin, Jessica, Luke and Cade's stories...

Such a beautiful story, I was lucky enough to get an early copy of Someone Like You and I have to say that I was surprised about how much I loved it.I like the set up, the characters and it felt realistic.

Grace and Noah are opposites, but so perfect together. They fit perfectly together.I couldn't believe it at first but omg these two had an amazing chemistry.Noah is perfect, sweet, protective, sexy and so alpha male.Grace is a great heroine, she might seams a little bit fragile but she is so strong.I enjoyed them together.

Overall it was a great story.I haven't read before a book from this author but I'm going to read more from Brittney really soon!

3.5 STARS!

☾Another single father book! I've been loving these books lately, mostly because I've yet to read a book with a single dad that I don't love. This included this book! It has a lower rating from me only because I feel like the plot was rushed through. There's something I can't put my finger on that I didn't enjoy too much and I'm having trouble figuring out what it is.

☾We were given amazing back stories for both Noah and Grace, and the writing was amazing. I think maybe the duel POV wasn't necessary. I felt like it was a little too straight forward, like I knew what was going to happen - very predictable. I think this was partly due to the two pov's. It was like the small mystery or cliffhanger would be solved in two pages time because of the other pov.

☾I'm not sure I'm explaining it right, this book was written amazingly. There's no denying that, I am obsessed with this author! However, the plot was very predictable and there was no room for questions, or possible plot twists because everything was straightforward. There was no guessing!

☾I'm horrible at explaining things at 3am but just know that the book is very easy to figure out. It's something that's been done so many times before and has a very predictable ending. Beautiful writing, poor story line, sorry :(

Noah was perfectly happy with his life as a Navy SEAL, but his wife Cindy was unhappy and moved herself and his little darling daughter Lily to live with Cindy's new boyfriend in New York!!!
That's where Noah lives now too, on a little houseboat - working as a carpenter. To be near his daughter.
One night he meets this very interesting woman in a bar - but she seemed to be the same kind of lady his wife was. One that would never be happy with a poor worker or soldier.
But then a few days later he meets her again - he's been hired to work on her apartment.
But Grace could never go against Daddy's wishes and date poor carpenter ... or could she??

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO GRACE & NOAH?
WILL THERE BE A HAPPY EVER AFTER?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT! ☺

That was adorable!

Well, not only adorable. It was frustrating and moving and sad and sexy and ...
It was a great romance. About two people from two different worlds fighting for their happily ever after.
And it's not easy. Cindy is making problems for Noah - she wants full custody! And Grace's dad wants her to marry a horrible guy so that their two companies can merge.
Plus there's something that happened to Grace in Greece - she's not over it yet!
Lots of stuff to overcome and fight through until we might see our HEA!

I liked reading it. It was a tiny little bit too ... not really sure. There were too many people in it - lots of potential for more books. Grace's brother will be the next book's hero.
The writing was good - it was just a bit mh here and there - Brittney used MH too often when people said something. And Noah put his fist to his mouth a lot. And I wanted him to be a bit more SEALy - I wanted him to have to save someone from some bad guy or something a little bit action-y. But he kept his cool - so as not to look bad in front of the custody judge - which is totally understandable - but I wanted him to be a bit more of a 'fighter'.
And the Greece thing was mentioned sooo often in the first part of the book - I wanted to yell at the book to just tell us about what happened already - but they took their time giving us details.
And the cover - I kinda love it - but I would've loved it more if the guy's had would've been cut off at the chin ☺ His face looks a bit weird to me :/

But other than that I really enjoyed reading the story.

Boy meets girl, falls in love, and happily ever after follows. At least, that's what we'd like to believe. Someone Like You is the reality, it's heartbreak, family drama, and a heaping pile of lust that's meant to only last a night. Brittney Sahin perfectly describes the feeling that occurs when someone feels so right in your life, but you feel like you have to think with your mind over your heart.

"But it doesn't matter. We're from two different worlds, and I'll never see her again."

I loved the characters, from beginning to end. They were already complex in the beginning and as the story took shape and developed, so too did Noah and Grace. Grace is from the upper crust, a business woman her family treats like a pawn in the game, while Noah is a former Navy SEAL with a kind heart and a daughter he'd do anything for. Grace and Noah recognize the lust between them, but the readers are treated to the truth, that these two have been waiting for someone like each other for longer than they even realized. Mixed in with their attraction is the expectations from their family and those that they have for themselves. They're from different worlds, their lives are on different paths, and yet the chemistry between them burns brighter with each passing day.

"The dark scruff around his lips- he has that sexy kind of dangerous look...but I can tell this man is only dangerous because he's forbidden."

Brittney Sahin has a knack for writing novels that suck you in; with descriptive prose she paints a story that makes you feel as though you are within the pages of the novel. You will feel the waves of the water, experience the burn of lust, and find yourself becoming emotional alongside the characters. It's equal parts sweet and sexy, plus it has just a bit of suspense to make it even more interesting. I really appreciated how much attention Brittney Sahin gave to the small details, I could picture every setting and really felt the impact that Grace's family choices had on her. I too felt deceived by their ability to drag her down and was overjoyed when her friends and Noah helped her realize she didn't need to be a puppet. I questioned every character's motives, it made me think about why we put ourselves into boxes, and it absolutely made me believe that love is worth risking it all. Ultimately, the novel centers around Grace and Noah accepting that life isn't what you expect it to be like and that there is more to gain from seeking happiness than anything else.

"He's smart enough to know he's playing with fire, and I'm the flame. I don't want to burn him though."

Someone Like You is different than Brittney's previous romantic suspense releases, but it shines as a contemporary romance. I was so wrapped up in the novel, in fact I will admit I have already read it twice. There were times I thought that the book could never possibly go my way, but the weaving story lines all work together to finally give the perfect outcome. Brittney Sahin's writing has only improved with each novel and Someone Like You is absolutely her best book yet. Longtime fans and contemporary romance lovers will be enchanted by this new release.

I was not a fan of Miss Sahin. Her last book I read disappointed me. After time goes by, I decided to give it another try. Someone Like You does not disappoint.

The story of 2 people who feels trapped and so lonely was told in a compact and precise writting. The secondary characters do not crowdes the main characters. That is what I like about this book. And with that I can enjoy the story.

I can relate to Grace. Her loneliness traps in her rich selfish family feels so heart breaking. Noah also went through a lot with his nasty divorce. When they met, it is like waiting for the chemistry to explode. And it did. Beautifully.

Strong caring hero. Not a womanizer.
Likable heroine, different from 'typical' female characters in CR.
A bit too messy situation with her family, but overall a nice love story.

“Sometimes what’s beneath the surface is worth getting to know.”

Someone Like You was the perfect book to spend the day getting lost in. Someone Like You is fun, entertaining and very well written.

Someone Like You follows the story of Noah and Grace. Noah and Grace couldn’t be more opposite, but you know the saying, opposites attract, and that certainly is the case in this book. When we first meet up with Noah, I was gutted by the things that were happening in his life. My heart ached for the way that Cindy treated him. I wanted to reach through my kindle and knock some sense into this woman. Flash forward to the future, Noah is trying to get used to a “normal” life, but for this SEAL, he is finding that hard to do. He finds himself living in New York to be closer to his daughter and has a new job working with his sister. The last thing he ever planned on was Grace. Grace is the total opposite of him. She’s rich, beautiful and totally out of his league. She should be off-limits, but Noah is powerless to fight the pull….Grace has her own demons she’s trying to battle; from an arranged marriage that she wants nothing to do with, to a vacation in Greece that she’d rather forget. Grace has a lot on her plate and the last thing she ever expected was Noah. Neither of them have much to offer to the other besides sex. Falling for each other isn’t an option, but soon enough the lines will become blurred….

Someone Like You was a really enjoyable read for me. I was pulled into Noah’s story from page one and was instantly hooked. I wanted to why Cindy was behaving the way that she was and I was desperate to know how Noah’s story would play out. Noah was the perfect man. He served in the military to provide for his family and did the best for them that he could. He is sexy, tough, determined and an overall great guy. He is someone you can’t help but want to get to know and be friends with. I think he was a wonderful match for Grace. He brought out things in her that she didn’t know existed. He made her believe in herself, taught her to fight for the things that mattered and gave her the strength to stand up for herself. Together these two made one hell of a team and they certainly burned up the pages together.

Someone Like You is a terrific read from beginning to end. I laughed. I swooned. I got angry. And I fell in love. This story hit all the marks for me and kept me begging for more. This is my first book by this author and I can not wait to read more from her in the future. I definitely recommend checking this book out.

Brittney Sahin took me on a MAJOR rollercoaster in Someone Like You with so many twists and turns that I did not see coming or going! The book is so well written and captivated my attention and heart throughout the book.

description

Noah is introduced in the Prologue having him currently overseas about to enter a Navy SEAL operation and my heart just shattered and this is all BEFORE Chapter 1!

description

I fell in love with Noah & Grace's mismatched lovers story of the New York City Socialite and Mr. Handyman.

description

"You are you."
"And I'm me."

There are so many things to tell you about the story, but I think it is best going in blind. You are going to LOVE Noah, the Navy SEAL, and all his baggage. You are going to love Grace, NYC Socialite, who is searching for her true self while fighting her past demons and her family ties. This mismatch of lovers are not only just trying to fight an attraction towards each other.

"The goddamn world was against us from the start. We never had a chance."

There are so many layers in the story that Brittney takes us through slowly peeling it back one layer at a time. Honestly, I have never wanted an author to kill off a certain character before, but there is one person in this book that I need an deadly alternate ending for, please!

Go fall in love with our Navy SEAL, Noah, and see if Grace stands a chance to date this book boyfriend!

I liked it. Working class dad, ex military, who will do anything to be with his daughter meets rich spoiled girl who brings memories of his ex wife who is trying to take his daughter away from him.

They start as friends but as they spend time together lines blur, feelings, develop, hot sex ensues but of course there are twist, his bitchy ex wife, her family, both have issues themselves. It was a good read. Nothing that made it special to me but still enjoyable read.

From the moment you read the prologue, Someone Like You will have you hooked on every word. A soldier who would do anything for his family is suddenly faced with the reality of losing his daughter, a successful rich woman who knows what she wants but thanks to her family, voicing her opinion will be taking a back seat. Two people who came from completely different worlds, became each other’s saving grace.

After battling on enemy lines for a long time, Noah Dalton is now in New York getting ready to go to war for his daughter. With a nasty divorce pending, the only thing that he cares about is getting to spend time with his little girl and making her a permanent fixture in his life. But when his ex proves to be more difficult than he can imagine, Noah realizes that getting his daughter back in his life is not going to be easy. Lucky for him, he’s always been a fighter and when he meets someone else that makes him want something he can’t have, fighting for what you want just took on a whole new meaning.

“The scruff on his lips. He has that sexy kind of dangerous look. But I can tell this man is only dangerous because he is forbidden.

Grace Parker-King has everything a girl can dream off. Money, good looks, and a job that she loves. But underneath it all is a woman who’s suffocated by the demands of her high class Family. Told to never be a disappointment and stay in her lane, Grace has always done what was expected of her so why should her love life be any different? Bringing home a man that has saw dust on his jeans and rough callus hands will not be socially acceptable in Grace’s world but one look at Noah, and she’s willing to risk it all for a brief moment with him. But how far will her family go to protect what they think is right for her?

Despite a few issues that I had with certain characters, I have to say that I really liked this one. Noah was one of those guys that from the minute you read their pov’s, you couldn’t help but fall for them. He was sweet and loyal to a fault, but he was also very tough and he loved his daughter fiercely. I really liked Grace in the beginning and I was rooting for her in every aspect of her personal life but she started to irritate me a bit with not standing up for her self. I wanted to shake the hell out of her and tell her it’s ok to make your own decisions!! But aside from that, If you love a good romance with a bit of drama, then this one is perfect for you.

I enjoyed Noah’s story. He is a broken man when he first meets Grace. She’s everything he isn’t looking for but he just can’t escape their amazing chemistry. grace like his soon to be ex wife Cindy comes from money; old money. Everything he never wants a part of again.

Noah is freshly out of the marines, looking to move forward and create a new life with his daughter Lily. He doesn’t have much to offer. He’s living on the Hudson rive t in a tiny boat working with his sister to try and afford an apartment so he can see more of his daughter.

Grace immediately likes Noah. He’s a breath of fresh air. He’s handsome, caring and honest. She’s drawn to his passi9. For his daughter and immediately feels safe with him. Something she hasn’t felt for a long time.
I really enjoyed their ride together. It hits a few road bumps but Grace is able to finally get to grips with being independent from her controlling father when she finally trusts Noah to help her.

I won’t ruin the plot and say too much about what happens but not everything was as predictable as I first thought.
Definitely worth a read.

First half was incredible. Fun, entertaining, and pretty unique. I loved the chemistry between Grace and Noah. Second half? Unnecessary drama with tons of ridiculous and unrealistic family pressures. Yawn. Had to skim read the last 10%. I wish the getting-to-know-each-other phase would have lasted longer. I should have known though. I need to stay away from romances when one of the characters has tons of money, it’s always the same issues. And it’s hard to relate lol I need more normal-people troubles 😂 Still enjoyed it though! Just far from the perfect romance for me

Overall I liked this book. I did like Grace and Noah. However, pretty much everyone is their lives were awful people. Noah's wife leaves him and things begin to go downhill for him. Until he meets Grace. They hit off but her parents are so horrible they almost ruin everything. Thankfully they get their happy ending because they both deserve it.

Its a classic rich girl meets blue collar man. Only the author ups the game from a simple setup with the hero currently in a custody battle and finalising his divorce from a similar rich girl who dumps him for a rich Wall Street fiancé and the heroine with controlling parents who wants her to marry for business.

I would say the plot is pretty predictable but some of the minor characters shine through overshadowing the main characters a bit. Which is why I like the main characters only when they are exploring their blooming romance and relationship by themselves. Put them in a group setting and its the minor characters that stands out. I'm not sure if this is intentional or setting up these characters for their future books.

Surprisingly for a book written in 1st person featuring both hero and heroine's POV, it was well-written and flows easily. The author avoids the common pitfalls of being too descriptive or too many internal monologues that plague most 1st person story.

Plot: 3/5
Characterisation: 3.5/5
Prose: 3.5/5 (2 1st POVs)
How much I enjoyed it: 4/5

I received an arc of Someone Like You from Author Brittney Sahin to review honestly.

This is the first novel I have read by Brittney Sahin and I'm completely speechless. This novel was at times angsty and Emotional but then it also had its sweet and enduring moments. I couldn't get enough!

Noah's life revolved around three things, His wife, his daughter, and being a SEAL. He's about to go on a mission into enemy territory when he gets a call that shocks his system to the core. His wife is leaving him. Now he finds himself in the most difficult battle of a lifetime, the custody of his daughter. After his wife left him, Noah is dead set on never letting another woman in. That is until he meets Grace by chance at a bar.

Grace is the silver spoon character in this story. She's the rich woman with the upscale family and the perfect home. But hidden behind the perfect doors, she's suffering her own battles. Those battles come in the form of her father and his need to control every aspect of her life. Her father is on his own warpath to merge two wealthy families and he's using Grace as a pawn and holding an unwanted proposal that includes an arranged marriage over her head.

Noah and Grace are complete opposites. You wouldn't normally see these two people getting along in the real world and it showed in the beginning of this novel, but beneath the surface I could feel this underlying chemistry between the two.

I loved the strength these two characters showed throughout the novel. I also loved how their relationship progressed, instead of the typical 'wham bam thank you' relationship that typically follows romance novels, this one was different. There were steps these two characters took to lead them down the path to where they are now. They conversed to get to know one another. This point was endearing due to the fact that both characters are closed off emotionally. I loved witnessing them grow closer with every page.

In being completely honest, I have never been more frustrated while reading a novel than when I was reading the Noah/Cindy scenes. His soon to be ex-wife is the bitch of all bitches. I literally threw my kindle down twice. Come to think of it I think Cindy is my most hated character to this date. The way she treated Noah was downright dirty...and not in a good way.

Overall, I really enjoyed Noah and Grace's story! I loved the many emotions this novel brought out of me. I loved the heartbreak, the happiness, and the hope.

What an amazing read by Brittney Sahin, but then again I'm not surprised when it comes to this author who knows how to write and pull me right into the thick of the story. It's not the same action suspense as in the other books but oh my it does not matter as the suspense is all around the main characters, Noah & Grace, their lives and future. Noah's battle with his ex wife, whether he will get custody of his daughter and what's in the envelope she gives him, will he go into private security or stay with his sister in her company, how will he deal with his growing feelings for Grace. Then there is Grace, will she break free from her father and his company, will her brother's stick by her, what happened in Greece and is there still a threat, what will happen with Patrick, as well as her feelings for Noah.
The "no strings attached" gets complicated for both of them as they deal with everything and everyone else around them, finding comfort in each other but not willing to admit there's more strings than either of them anticipated...tying them together.
Noah may will be the perfect man, he was faithful to his ex wife, wasn't a man wh***, honest and always looking out for the other person, controlling his anger when others may have exploded and fighting for his daughter with everything he has and was thoughtful, giving, and intense towards Grace....I don't think I have ever sighed and swooned so much at a character before.
Grace was a little more complicated, living under the thumb of her father, him dictating her life leaving her no control over her future...until Noah. She breaks down her walls for him, trusting him, confiding in him, living for the first time in her life for herself and I loved how the author made it a gradual growth for Grace, chipping away at her defences little by little and reading how she develops to be her own person right in front of my eyes and even willing to sacrifice herself so that Noah can be happy.
A read that left me angry and balling my fists at times, a read that made me sigh and swoon at the steamy and tender times, a read that made my eyes misty and feeling for these two, a read that made me smile so big my jaw hurt when they finally get their HEA they fought so hard to get. CONGRATS Brittney Sahin for a read that has made it into the top 10 of my all time favourites.

This was cute. I needed to get a book off my 10/10 downloaded/loaned kindle unlimited and this one seemed to be the last one the list.

Noah is a SEAL that has dealt with some recent drama in his marriage which is ending, when it rains it pours poor guy can't catch a break. For once (which was a nice change of pace) I am reading about the man not being the rich billionaire but instead its the female lead which was interesting.
Grace is a manhattan woman who deep down knows she's living a lie but continues to be weighed down by her family's company and drama in which she works for. They are polar opposites in a lot of ways, but as the story evolves we come to see the layers peel back from Grace and realize she's not as she is presenting to the world.

Man with little money (not sure how he's so broke, that's never really fully explained), woman with a lot of money, comes from money, VP of her family's company...get together for just sex, sparks fly, drama ensues, she has a past with some trauma and he's there to help...both lean on each other when delving through their evolving issues...someone tries to tear them apart...etc. etc.

Note: I've read Brittney Sahin in the past and honestly had trouble following a lot of the scenes because I didn't like the lack of detail in the writing. One sentence someone is in one room, the next they have skipped a few hours and are somewhere else, and it happens so often I have to skim back to make sure what I missed so my brain can follow. Not a huge deal, and I will say this book was better, but not "fixed" of that issue. I also noted some character connections to Finding His Mark, seems to all be in the same world/plot with connections but they were a little confusing and hard to understand the timeline compared to that book.

Over all, 3/5 ⭐--Something cute to read with some drama, decent characters, but nothing special and won't stay in my mind/give me a book hangover.

Blurb:
He was a nameless guy in a bar—a man Grace couldn’t get out of her head…

A week later, she came home to find him sweaty and shirtless with a tape measure in hand, remodeling her loft. As a Parker-King, she’s not allowed to want someone like Noah Dalton. She’s sick of her life, though. Sick of the rules of being a Parker-King. She wants something more, even if it isn’t forever. Somewhere in history there was that one time where hot, no-strings-attached sex didn’t end badly, right? Finding comfort in the arms of a former SEAL is easy, not falling for one . . . not so much.

Noah left the military and moved to New York for one reason: his daughter. Not for some uptight businesswoman—a Manhattan elitist. So when Grace offers him the kind of relationship that no hot-blooded man can turn down, he should say no. And when her seemingly put-together life spins out of control, and his instincts to protect and save kick in, he should turn away. But he doesn’t.

Can two people from different worlds really live in the moment, knowing they’re on borrowed time, or is someone bound to get hurt?

nice gentle couple and better than the class differences set up - 3*

Generic description: Rich woman with family issues gets together with blue collar ex-military man with family issues.

It is a pretty standard set-up for books of this description. Although we get a hint that it is not so OTT as we might expect from the fairly normal names of Noah and Grace. Noah is trying to get more time with his daughter despite his ex-wife's objections. Grace is being set up by her dad to marry for the good of the company. That part of the story line did not work for me. Similarly the ridiculous notion that Noah would not open up a legal envelope from his ex made me batty.

What was less standard was how the couple just quietly fell in love and there are very few histrionics. While they are instantly attracted to each other this is not insta-love. Both are wanting some comfort and decide to have friendly no strings attached sex. But of course it does not work that way and quickly they both admit it is more than just sex. I enjoyed them together. I was glad the requisite separation was brief.

If I remember I will read the next book in the series when it comes out.

I was beating with myself - if this read should be 4 or 5 stars. As it would be 4.5 stars. But I decided on 4 stars - very little from 5!!
Grace - this girl is so fantastic! She is a girl from powerful family but she has her own need to be free. I really liked her. She seemed so fragile, but that was only a perception. Truly she is so STRONG women considering her family and what had happened.
Noah - he is so sweet and so male. I really liked him, that he wasn't taking a shit in his life! He is a fighter, but he can control himself when there is a need for it. SEAL training left something in him. And his fight in this book was so hard to read about!
I enjoyed greatly reading this book.

Overall this was a decent and satisfying romance, but it lacked the usual suspense that I've grown to expect from a Sahin novel.

The characters, which is where I usually place my heaviest importance in reviews, I found that I liked, but both mains didn't attract me, and I found them a touch one-dimensional at times. Maybe it's because their relationship developed rather quickly into sexual, whereas her other books tend to draw it out much more.

Noah, the main male character, was passionate and certainly seemed more real than Grace, the female character. And maybe a bit underdeveloped. It was a weird dynamic between them, but perhaps that was what the author was going for because they were a bit of an odd couple ... him being a Navy Seal and her being an ultra-rich, spoiled baby who has had a change of heart (which seemed to be like a switch that went off.

Noah's story was a touch easier to get emotionally attached to. He was a Navy Seal whose wife was screwing around on him while he was gone. He, of course, finds out when she leaves him for some rich dude. He leaves the Navy because he wants to establish a solid home for his daughter, but then finds out during the divorce proceedings that Lily isn't his daughter because his wife had another affair (real gem that one). But he doesn't care because as far as he's concerned Lily is his daughter. But this is one of the issues I had because, throughout the entire book, his motivations are clear ... he wants to be there for his daughter. But we don't even see her on the page until almost the end of it. I was a bit frustrated with that.

Now Grace, well she was a bit all over the place and hard to build sympathy for. She's the daughter of a wealthy family and works in the family business along with her two brothers, Cade and Corbin. She experienced an attack in Greece by what was believed to be a serial killer but got away because her brother Corbin saved her. Throughout all of this, I had a difficult time finding sympathy for her. Usually, Sahin is extremely good at developing characters that you feel for. Grace is the first time I've come up against a character that I thought to myself that she was just a whiner and I wasn't sure I believed it.

I guess the one thing that truly made the story for me was the secondary characters, and that's because I knew them already from all of her other books.

Do I recommend this book? I'd say only for the reader who wants just a basic romance without a lot of fluff. It has the usual tropes, the basic ... they meet, they have sex, they break up, they get back together, and it's happily ever after. Not bad, but pretty boring compared to all of her other books!!!

Finding love in the big Apple 🍎

Lt. Noah Dalton, Navy Seal Ret., has been mentioned in a few of the Stealth Ops books, here is his story.

Noah is a SEAL deployed overseas, prepping for a mission when his wife lays a bombshell on him. She is leaving their home in VA, moving to NY with their young daughter and getting a divorce. Noah was on the fence about resigning his commission or staying in four more years. The fear of losing his daughter makes his decision easy.

He moves to NY to be closer to her and starts working with his sister on her interior design / renovation business. One night out with his cousin he meets Grace in a bar. He feels drawn to her and bantering with her sparks something inside him.
She is meeting a date and Noah goes on his way.

Grace Parker-King is a VP for her family’s business. Her title is mostly in name as her father keeps her in the dark & on a short leash. She suffered a traumatic encounter on a recent business trip that has her questioning everything in her life. Being an obedient daughter and secretly dealing with panic attacks has her constantly on edge. She is suffocating greatly under her father’s need to control every aspect of her life.

One day she finds Noah in her penthouse, shirtless with a tape measure. They are both stunned and intrigued to be seeing each other again and that spark Is now slowly smolderIng.
Spending time together while Noah and his sister complete her penthouse redesign is both therapeutic and torture for them.
Tensions run high as Grace’s family is working overtime to bend her to their will, while Noah is in a battle for joint custody of his little girl.
Friends & lovers with no strings sounds great, until it becomes more. This story has all the angst and action you’ve come to expect from this author and a whole lot more.

Brittney Sahin has created a fantastic world with her Stealth Ops series & companion stories. I highly recommend them all. 🥰🔥💜

The synopsis for this book was so intriguing. It was a story that I felt I not only wanted to read but I NEEDED to read. I simply didn't comprehend just how beautiful this story would be.

There are times in our lives when we simply know something, feel it deep down, sense it with our very being and yet, completely do not understand it or know how to accept it. This is Noah and Grace's story.

Noah Dalton is our All-American hero, Navy Seal, southern gentleman, loving husband and father. Until he's not. One moment, one call from home sends him into a downward spiral. Life ceases to exist. He can save the world but he can't save himself.

Grace Parker-King is a strong, confident woman. She commands at her job easily. She's a member of a prominent, wealthy, and feared family. That fear runs rampant within the family as well. And as strong as Grace is, she's living in a bubble of fear. Past childhood experience, social stature, and a recent brush with death have left her weak, unsure, and lonely. Her light has been dimmed.

A chance meeting sets the couple on a crash course in life. The connection, physical and emotional, is there but they attempt to deny it. Both knowing it can't work, won't last. Two different backgrounds but drawn together with an invisible force. Noah provides Grace with protection, momentary freedom...happiness. Grace calms Noah and ignites him simultaneously. They agree to a no strings attached, sex only affair. Unfortunately, they didn't give notice to their hearts.

A vindictive ex, greed, and fear plague the couple. Can they let go of doubts and fears in order to build a life together? Dark forces surround them. Their policy of honesty fades and their theory of dealing with everything tomorrow, just presented itself today.

This was such an incredible couple. You felt their fears, you became involved in their lives. You understood the choices, right and wrong, that they made. Their story tugs at your soul. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll scream at them, and you'll feel their defeats as well.

The supporting cast works perfectly with the storyline. You'll ponder who is good and who you want to bury in your backyard. Yes, there are multiple bodies.

I had the honor of reviewing this book as an ARC and voluntarily submit my Review. This is absolutely a MUST READ! BRAVO!

I have been a HUGE fan of Brittney Sahin's since I stumbled upon her books a month ago. Since then, I have read all of her books! And re read some twice!!!
Someone like You is a little different from Brittany's other books. This book is more romance than a thriller but, DON'T BE FOOLED. Someone like You has it own intrigue and suspenseful moments as well. This book is so very emotional and realistic. In the beginning of the book , there is a scene that I literally had to put the book down, and take a breath because I was so angry, and emotionally hurt, I had to remind myself i was reading a book and this was not personal.
This book made me feel a variety of different emotions. I felt emotionally raw after I was done reading. Making me feel anxious, mad, devastated, excited, curious, hope, happiness, the list could go on and on. Its very easy to become invested in Mrs. Sahin's characters. She writes character chemistry better than anyone else i have ever read (I am an avid reader).
In this book you will meet Noah and Grace. Noah is the all American Bad Ass Ex Navy Seal who is now a civilian working construction for his sister when meets Grace. Grace comes off as having the typical rich bitch complex until you see its all a front. No Strings Attached. Three simple words. Are they really simple? Can it every really be that simple? Do your self a favor and read for yourself and find out!!!
I promise, you will not be disappointed!!!

I highly recommend Someone Like You. I thoroughly enjoyed taking a break from life and emerging myself into this story. Right out of the gate I rooted for Noah and his circumstances. And Cindy..OMG, I can’t say any more than that.

I loved the realistic plot that unfortunately happens more than we’d like to admit, but Sahin created a strong storyline with characters that we can fall in love with.
