Travel through time and experience the gastronomic history of Hill Valley with this colorful cookbook inspired by the Back to the Future trilogy.
Hill Valley may have changed a lot over the years, but the idyllic town of the beloved Back to the Future movies is a treat to visit in any time period. Divided into five chapters, this quirky cookbook explores the complicated history of Hill Valley through the best possible medium: food.
Start your culinary journey in good ol' 1985 with some delicious American comfort food, then travel back to 1955 for some classic diner cuisine. Jump to the far future of 2015 and nosh on some dehydrated pizza. Things might get a little greasy in Biff s alternative, dystopian 1985, but the hardy frontier food of 1885 will keep you going through shoot-outs, train robberies, and whatever else the Wild West has to throw at you.
Featuring full-color photography, alternative ingredient suggestions, and helpful notes from some of your favorite characters (Hi, Doc!), this time-hopping, genre-defying cookbook is the perfect gift for foodies, home cooks, and Back to the Future fans of all ages!
Okay, so everyone knows I'm a pretty big fan of Back to the Future. This cookbook summarizes the majority of the important scenes in the film, and even adds a humorous amount of extras just for kicks and giggles. Definitely worth a shot at cooking them. You bet I'm gonna show up to a party with the "jail" cake.
There is absolutely no reason to buy this unless you're a BTTF fan. The recipes are good and all, but you are buying it for the clever recipe names/descriptions, art, and just for the fact that there's a freaking BTTF cookbook. Cannot wait to make Biffs corned beef hash.
I love a good themed cookbook. This one is a nice balance between nerdy and practical. Photos of many recipes, good tie-ins to all three movies. Recipes I would actually make and my kids would actually eat (Frozen-in-Time Pudding Pops). Ideas for a train tea party and a movie marathon. Fun!
*Review to come in the future (or maybe the past). See what I did there?* (Leaving this here because I think it's funny)
Review is below.... I had no idea there was a "Back to the Future" cookbook, so I had to check it out. Turns out it's so much more. I learned a few movie facts as well as something about pine nuts. Not only will you find recipes for food served in all three movies but also tips on what kind of bakeware to use as well as tips on techniques. I have always loved the "Back to the Future" trilogy and this cookbook is the perfect companion. It's funny and informative and has some great photographs. I'm not a baker and I don't cook much but I want to try a few of these recipes (Hoverboard Cookies, anyone?). And that being said, I no longer buy books on a whim (that's why I love my library!), but I'm seriously considering buying this one. It's really well-written and stays true to the movies. If you're not a BTTF fan, this book may not appeal to you but for those of us who are big fans, it's far out!
Absolutely terrible! The recipes themselves are horrible and unappetizing. The little bits of reading before each recipe is just lame. Literally the only thing this book has going for it, is the nostalgia of the Back to the Future trilogy (which is amazing) and adding it to a cookbook collection with other similar books. 👎
I would have liked some popular 1885, 1955, and 1985 recipes to give this a more authentic timer travel feel. I am a sucker for a tv/movie/book-themed cookbook and am happy to add this to my collection. There are a few recipes, like Hoverboard cookies, I"m looking forward to trying, and some, like the blob from outer space, that I might not try. It's a super fun book for any fan of the trilogy.
