Was soll Georg nur tun?
Michael Atamanov was born in 1975 in Grozny, Chechnia. He excelled at school, winning numerous national science and writing competitions. Having graduated with honors, he entered Moscow University to study material engineering. Soon, however, he had no home to return to: their house was destroyed during the first Chechen campaign. Michael's family fled the war, taking shelter with some relatives in Stavropol Territory in the South of Russia.
Having graduated from the University, Michael was forced to accept whatever work was available. He moonlighted in chemical labs, loaded trucks, translated technical articles, worked as a software installer as well as scene shifter for local artists and events. At the same time he never stopped writing, even when squatting in some seedy Moscow hostels. Writing became an urgent need for Michael, driving him to submit articles to science publications, news fillers for a variety of web sites and a plethora of technical and copywriting gigs.
Then one day unexpectedly for himself he started writing fairy tales and science fiction novels. For several years, his audience consisted of only one person: Michael's elder son. Then, at the end of 2014 he decided to upload one of his manuscripts to a free online writers resource. Readers liked it and demanded a sequel. Michael uploaded another book, and yet another, his audience growing as did his list. It was his readers who helped Michael hone his writing style. He finally had the breakthrough he deserved when the Moscow-based EKSMO - the biggest publishing house in Europe - offered him a contract for his first and consequent books.
Without the ending, 3 to 4 stars as it's better than the first one.
Now the MP is officially the stupidest man on earth. Anybody can figure what's happening! And it would have been funny to see him acting like an adult.
Zkrátka - nejdřív budete milovat lit-RPG, pak tuhle sérii a nakonec i žánr space opery.
Takže milý Atamanove - zvýšení globální slávy a reputace o 100%!
good second, but when the mc gets back in his body, the whole plot goes to hell, i mean, ig he just concludes that he was in a game, why does he accept that he was made and heroin user? this implies that while he was in the otehr body, the prince was using his, also, he got cheated, the prince screwed his life so bad and he made the prince untouchable... dont think i will read the next one coming as fast or if i read it at all, he does figure out the truth, but he got the short end of the stick. All in all i did enjoy the book.
Not half as organized or thought out as the first book. Without ships, without crew, without translations, heavily wounded and stranded from his territories, main character, Ruslan (playing Georg with a game-like system created by Miya the witch/truth-seer/futurist/consort of the "real" Georg) It's turning into a harem (isekai-ed immersed into another universe through a game-like system) Sci-Fi story (Even the "Insects"/Reptiles are changing their genders for the author and Georg/Ruslan). The main character Georg is stranded on Earth, in Moscow (deep winter) while his "witch"/consort (Miya) is vacationing in the Mediterranean. Both Georg and Miya are junkies to Crystals (Highly addictive and degenerative drug in this Alternate Universe). The main plot is a joke and totally irrational/nonsensical/illogical (gamer is getting paid Russian Rubles by a couple of washed out junkies, to conquer and control this alternate reality Universe while at the same time being forced by Miya's supernatural powers to stay in this alternate reality Universe or face torture, mutilation and gruesome death). So, the discretion of two junkies that were unable to function in their normal lives will decide the fate of this Alternate Universe and Sci-Fi story series??? Ruslan, main character (gamer turned into Crowned Prince in alternate reality Universe) might be a good strategist but is a total push-over in the story, commits continuous statutory rape (both as Ruslan and as Georg the Crowned Prince) with Astra (17 year old orphaned Princess) who seems to get exponentially dumber as the pages turn. I have never ever met a 47-48 year old Crowned Prince that looks 70+ years old or older (old man on cover) by the way... The idea that a good strategist can survive just because he might have been good in a game, is lost over constant drunkenness, debauchery, lack of common sense and a total destruction of the original purpose of this story (which was to protect sector Eight from its enemies). There is no point to the alliances (main character has no real jurisdiction/power to make Treaties with Foreign and Alien races (does not represent the Orange Territories, does not have the authority from the Emperor of the Humans, etc.), no point to the harem ("as an MC I'm gonna sleep with everybody, especially the alien insect/reptile races, attitude) that the author now has (because of a lack of new ideas and probably part of a kind of fan-service to the deviate readers comments to his web novel version of this story)...The author really doesn't describe the sensual liaisons, creates the relationships/courting/romancing/seduction, and basically goes through the motions as filler to this second book in this story... Whatever good the story had in its first book is lost around the middle of this second book when the flotilla of space ships gets turned to mush (but somehow still are able to fight and destroy enemy ships) (with mutilated and dying crew members). Ruslan, executes "cowards" in combat and their crews also die, how is this justified or fair? The thing is, you either take the story seriously, believing that it's a real alternate Universe, or you believe that you are still in a game, and none of it is real and there are really no consequences for anything, but if it's the latter (game), why would this be interesting to read?? Gamers broadcast on Twitch and the rest of social media, hours, days, weeks, months of live video game play...if one wanted to see (real gamers playing fake video games), so why would someone want to read a story of a make-believe video game, where nothing that happens is true or real?? I do not recommend this story any longer.
His time under immersion is quickly coming to close and the MC truly begins to wonder does he really want to go back to earth? What about everything he has built here?
The questions raised in first book get answered and Ruslan manages to move a camel through a needle hole multiple times. Leading to build strong capabilities but it is all something he needs to give up when he goes back to earth.
I love the interplay that happens and the hopes that build as the last page turns and you know there is more in the series awaits.
More of the same, really. So, if you like the last book, you will like this one. Which I did.
I think the author is purposely leading us on and making us question whether Perimeter Defense is really a game. I'm undecided on that but I will eventually finds out so I'm not worried. For now I'm just satisfied letting the author string me along on this incredible journey.
Mediocre sci-fi gets worse in this sequel. All possible political intrigue is dropped as the fleet advances into alien-controlled space. Characters continue to be empty shells without any interesting details. The made up science is atrociously bad and self-contradicting.
Did not finish.
This is now the third Atamanov series I have abandoned. I can definitively say I will not bother to read another Atamanov novel.
The ups and downs in this book just frustrated the heck out of me. I enjoyed it, but it was a little bit of a letdown after the first book, the pacing of the storyline felt a little off in places, the interaction between the characters irritated me a little, and The MC’s side chic had no place in the story thus far. Flora made more sense to the story than she did.
I'm going to just pretend that the last few pages didn't get written and this was the end of the series. It wasn't really doing much for entertaining me - which is not a reflection on the author (I've really enjoyed other things they wrote) but more this particular game / setting.
Sick of trashy harem litrpg and want something a bit classier. Grab this series with both hands! Will not disappoint. Low on rpg elements. High on sci fi
If you enjoyed the first book in this series, you should probably continue. It's unique as space 4x and the character development throughout the series is enjoyable.
Similar tactics like the last time except mainly with the inclusion of stealth bombers which somehow served the dream role of every submarine captain in WW2.
Book 02, Beyond Death, is better than book 01. Though it still lacks something for me personally. Could explain some but not up to it. In the middle of moving to a "new" apartment, and it is much smaller. Kinda like fitting a battleship's crew into a frigate instead. Book 03 sounds kinda interesting with the ending of 02. It really has NOT felt like a game. Hell, I don't think anyone has left the game but a few rare occasions. Certainly not our MC. And now he is going to be ?replaced? with the original guy who it appears has been living our MC's life IR. Well, partly perhaps. Some Amazon reviews stated these books (this series) do a decent job of world building and practically nothing significant for character building. Gotta agree mostly. But no need to explain. I've got enough time to get started on book 03... to get far enough into it to perhaps get the real crux of what is changing and how. I seriously hope they do SOME character building as it is significant to the seeming upcoming changes in persons playing which character. And what "new contract" exactly our MC will be given. Hope he has been stashing hundreds of millions or even billions of the money he grew out of so little. And a bit of a fleet too perhaps, though I suspect he will have a strong leadership role in combat notably. And gotta see how the original guy screws up all that our MC has built. Notably interpersonally. And with alliances and whatnot. All the so-called stats of fame and reputation and such to put it clinically.
