This book could’ve been shorter since most of the information is basically important in all dog guardianship; keeping up with your dog’s regular hygiene, veterinary care, and training, etc.
There are a few chapters about the malinois specifically (history, temperament, health problems) but if you want a clear notion of what it’s actually like living with one this book just regurgitates what the internet says. Although I really enjoyed that throughout the book there are quotes from breeders giving pointers to possible new malinois owners, but again nothing an internet search won’t tell you.
Some advice is very good, like listing traits of your ideal dog which will help narrow down if a certain breed (in this case, a Belgian Malinois) is right for you. Then there’s some questionable tips that are definitely outdated, specifically with training. I suggest to use your own discretion when reading some of the advice offered in this book.
In conclusion, you could probably just save your money and do research online, or talk to a malinois owner/breeder to get the full scoop on the breed.
