Circle City is besieged by the otherworldly. Meet those who battle back the darkness in this live action, 400+ page photographic novel from the Endless Elsewhere!
J.P. Leck is the architect of The Endless Elsewhere, a vast, multimedia narrative, which consists of novels, short stories, short films, radio plays, comic books and a podcast. Some installments occur in the distant past, while many do so in our own present, and still others are set in the far-off future, yet all of it belongs to one vast, interconnected story. This is a saga of the phantasmal and the fantastic, of the weird and the wondrous, of a great darkness and a greater light that overcomes it.
This collection of photographic novels is nothing short of fantastic! As just one component of a larger multimedia shared universe it gives you just enough information to not be confused but also holds back just enough to make you want to dive into this world head first and read, watch, and listen to every single entry! This collection is well written and well put together. It's creepy, intense, and even funny in parts. I highly recommend reading this, I promise you won't be able to put it down!
For fans of author J.P. Leck's Endless Elsewhere shared narrative, a big part of the joy is the world-building he does which mostly consists of references to other worlds, ranging from offhand to in-depth. One of my person favorite moments was listening to his radio play, THE INVOKED (referenced in this volume in his comic "The Infernal Task") in which all of his disparate characters met up to tackle a larger evil, Avengers-style!
Leck's first collected graphic novel THE REGULARS manages to recapture that feeling, taking readers through the 'modern era' of his Endless Elsewhere narrative, starting shortly after the events of his short film THE NOVELTY and leaning us off in the midst of the apocalyptic events of his original radio play THE GONERS. Leck also reintroduces fan-favorite characters alongside new ones welcomed into the fold! It also seems to set up the podcast that Leck has been quietly teasing for the last couple of years.
Bottom line: if you're a fan of Leck's work, this collection is a must-have... and if you're not a fan, this is a quick and easy way to become one!
This one hit all the spots for me, which is mostly just zombies, but then there’s so much more. The whole paranormal thing hits from every angle imaginable and somehow converges on a welcoming cup of coffee at Joe’s Diner.
And technically/artistically it’s very well done. I love the photography and the page layouts. It was very easy to get lost in the story.
