The Internet is the most powerful tool of our day; to be Internet literate means to become a knowledgeable user who can create, publish and communicate effectively. The fourth edition of Internet Literacy by Fred Hofstetter teaches the fundamentals of the Internet, from the basic skills to get online and communicate over it, to creating and publishing Web pages with audio and video, while always probing the societal issues, emerging technologies and best security practices that affect us all.
A decent baseline book to learn about the Internet, history of it as well as some personalization options that I found pretty cool. What was most annoying was how out dated the book is for these times. My college professor did tell us to expect it to be out of date and also mentioned that we were the last class she was using this book for, but it just makes me wonder if I had chosen to take my ICS class one semester later, would I have ended up with a more current education? Probably. And that irks me. But it was still a well written book even though I wish it hadn't been used for my class.
