A woman’s body in a freezer, a web of connections over two countries and she was pregnant too! Not just another day for the sample management group at Nash Pharmaceutical Services, not a simple case for Detective Sergeant Dave Thompson and his team, but when is it ever? His boss is losing it, his boss’s boss has more scales than a pit viper and the team has its own issues to contend with, not least who’s turn is it to pay for their weekly cream cake celebration. So who did bump off the French-Canadian woman? The lovers; the haters or just the indifferent?
A very engaging and enjoyable murder mystery that keeps you guessing and reguessing. The characters are well formed and very relatable. I loved the detail and realism of the setting and that is so relateable to our current situation with Covid as it takes place in a research facility. Enjoyed all the twists and turns, as cliche as it is to say, this really was a page turner and there are lots of pages! Mark Dennis is an author that has been added to my must buy list. I have just purchased the second in this series and am anxiously awaiting its arrival.
I confess to being biased, the author is a friend. For all that though I thought it was a good read with engaging characters and an interesting story. I have worked in the environment this novel is set in and thught it captured the human interactions rather well. Waiting for the next one now.
