For a certain LOL competition, a certain online streamer famous for pissing people off was currently explaining and broadcasting it at the same time.
Streamer: This support, so tr*sh.
Streamer: If that jungler was my teammate, I would already be idling at the fountain and playing piano for him by now.
Streamer: I recommend that this player go back and properly practice how to last hit.
Audience: What bullshit! If you’re any better, then you do it!
Streamer: Daddy I really can do it.
Audience: Okokok. If you can do it then I’ll chop off my head so you can kick it.
A few months later, LOL’s veteran pro team TTC announced a new mid laner. A boy with flashy blue hair appeared in front of the audience and played Zed to utter perfection, killing everyone he saw, causing all the female fans to begin toeing the line of infidelity.
During the MVP interview after the match, everyone held their breath and eagerly watched this newcomer.
Only to see the boy accept the microphone, smile and ask, “That water friend with the StarTV user ID ‘Suburb King 101,’ my team’s address is on the official website, when will you mail your head over?”
After a certain regular season match finished, the staff member went backstage to urge the team members to go onstage and conduct their interviews, only to see TTC’s new mid laner and jungler standing in the corner.
TTC’s number one ace · jungler daddy Road pressed their team’s new mid laner Soft against the wall. He lowered his eyes and asked slowly, “The interview later, do you know what to do?”
That quick-tempered mid laner, who had solidified his image as a troll in the audience’s eyes the very first time he went on stage, was currently blushing completely red. “I know. I won’t curse at anyone… I definitely won’t curse at anyone.”
The humor never ceased! Still had me squealing, blushing and kicking my feet!!

➺ 5/5🌟 First read: Dec. 2021
I am completely, utterly ignorant about e-sports and gaming. I never played LoL before. For real. And I was anxious that, despite knowing how well-loved this novel is, I won't be able to enjoy it. But my worries were all for naught. This novel, though it has a lot of technical terms that I've seen for the first time here, it didn't affect my total enjoyment. The gameplay is understandable. The translator did a good job at providing footnotes for those LoL terms, and aside from that I actually found myself google-ing. I really did learn some basics about the game.
The MC (Jian Rong/Soft), I freaking love him so much!! I've seen countless shameless characters with different levels of arrogance in a novel, but I can tell you that the MC has a charming uniqueness in his characterization. He's the absolute king of trash talks. He claimed to be the kind of person who never fails an argument, and I actually can't imagine him losing to one. Aside from being so good in playing, he's also great at throwing insults. He's a trueborn savage! He only clams up in front of his idol, the ML (Lu Boyuan/Road). It was actually so funny when he was trying to act like a decent, well-behaved person in front of the ML, though his fierceness is one of the many things the ML loved about him. Their relationship can be considered slow romance because they got official pretty late, but I'm telling you, the dog food crumbs were scattered since the beginning. You won't be starving from their sweetness. I also freaking loved the other people in their team: Xiao Bai, Pine, Yuan Qian and their coach Ding-ge, and also the pro players in the other teams like XIU, Savior, Kongkong, etc. All their dynamics are so entertaining and so funny (Savior is the absolute pure human being, he's so adorable!!)
And the most hilarious part of this novel? Of course it's Soft's dad fans!!! They're the most unique fans I've ever seen, and their interactions with Soft are just as unique. Reading their barrage, my stomach genuinely hurt from laughing so much. It's so much fun reading how Soft and his dad fans exchanged insults with each other, but they're also the most real fans out there. Soft actually doesn't need his anti-fans anymore because his dad fans can do the job of flaming him themselves. They're the kind of people that will beat someone who will bully you, because they're the only ones allowed to bully you. They're the best!
Also, the extra 7-chapter story of the side couple (Xiao Bai and Pine) weren't really enough!!! I want more chapters of them!! It's just too bad that the two of them really developed into that kind of relationship after the main story, otherwise, we might have received more dog foods from them.
Try reading this one out, I swear you're not gonna regret it! You'll definitely enjoy it.
This was a very enjoyable read! I lost sleep for three days trying to finish this one.😅
This is my first 5 star rating for this year and it totally deserves it.😍
So this is an esport novel with romance and comedy on it. The game featured in this story is LoL so I was okay with the game jargons used. I love how detailed the esport community was presented in this novel.
The author was able to blend the esport world with comedy and romance so well. It was solidly balanced and I was really very into the story. Also the translation is great.👍
The main characters have depth and the humor is a huge hit on me.😆 I laughed and smiled a lot while reading this.❤
I really love books with live streaming on it. I so love the funny banter between the host and the fans. I love the MC and his daddy fans. Their interaction is sooo chaotic but funny and touching(?). Lol.😂
There are so many aspects of the book that I love.❤ Can't believe I just found this novel recently. The plot is great, the characters are also good, the humor is very inline with my humor and the romance is quite cutesy with bits of nsfw-ish scenes.
Highly recommended and will definitely reread in the future.❤👍
PS: I feel pity for Ding-ge but still it was funny. Lol.😂 And Bye and Pine's extra chapters are a nice surprise.👍 What else? I just love this book.❤
PPS: I forgot to say how much I love the main couple in this story. Soft and Road forever.❤ Soft is the world's greatest flamer!😂 TTC is bad*ss.👊
I really loved this story. Jian Rong /Soft (our MC) and Lu Boyuan / Road (our ML) were a match made in heaven and League of Legends seemes to be a cool game. It took me some googling to figure out the rules and what the five different roles were supposed to do because there is an abundance of characters to play in the game.
Once again I loved the social media interactions and their streaming. Soft had a wonderfully foul mouth and I enjoyed his interactions with everyone (especially Savior). The love story was sweet. The problem I had with this book is simple: It wasn’t as intriguing as FOG (to me). The in game fighting in ICDI wasn’t as exciting and gripping, the love story developed a bit too smoothly for my liking and the stakes weren’t as high with this mid season tournament (MSI) compared to a world championship. Don’t get me wrong, ICDI it was a great story but FOG blew me away. Here I was entertained but I didn’t fall as much in love as anticipated.
From what I’ve seen in other peoples’ reviews it seems like a ‘me problem’. Anyway, it was fun and all in all I still flew through this in no time. Jiang Zi Bei definitely writes engaging stories.
i am emerging from my three day binge-read of this novel with a raging headache from staring at my phone screen for too long and with a massive toothache from all the sweet moments
icdi was my first esports novel and even though the only games i play is animal crossing/sims i was sitting there rooting for TTC the whole entire time. i started idci for the main couple and stayed for them but also stayed for the phenomenal cast of characters. seriously! i had no clue that i would not only root for the rest of the team but also the opposing teams too (XIU & savior my beloveds).
the romance between road and soft had me kicking my feet and hiding my face from second hand embarrassment (rip soft you never had a fighting chance) because even though the romance was slow there were so many endearing moments sprinkled in. road and soft were lovely and hilarious and full of chemistry—i thought for sure things would head into toxic territory since there is an age gap and the whole idol worship thing going on but surprisingly…it never did. every time there a misunderstanding it was cleared up within the same chapter because the characters knew how to communicate and trust each other.
icdi was pretty much all fluff & humor with barely any angst but considering i’m reading heavier novels rn this was a perfect little treat. esports was the last genre i thought i would ever get into but now i’m currently on my way to picking up the authors other two books in the same universe
p.s. soft’s water fans are one of my favorite things about this book. every time there were comments from his ‘dad’s’ i would be snickering and internally saying similar things in my mind. they were constantly dragging soft through the mud and always there to witness his most embarrassing moments. soft is a tsundere who would only be soft for road so it makes since that his fanbase were the same way
Jian Rong and his fans' dad relationship had me dying! Like, who else has fans who flame him more than his antis to the point that even the antis are confused? I loved how it was already routine for his fans to open 10+ side accounts because he always bans them during his streams lol.
I loved Jian Rong, this arrogant brat who's known to roast everyone for not playing well. Except he's actually a soft boy but only in the face of his idol and crush. The slow burn romance and gay panic were so good and funny! I died from laughing at all of the embarrassing moments Jian Rong always seemed to have with Lu Boyuan. It was almost as bad as Shi Luo's embarrassing side account in FOG!
Lu Boyuan is your typical gentle, doting male lead, which plays a nice contrast with the ever prickly Jian Rong. He's a capable captain and is a little more relatable because of his family relationship issues. I like how he understands that Jian Rong has a huge fan filter on him and actively tries to get him to see past that.
His teammates were all great. I liked how poor Xiao Bai kept on ruining their moments together and didn't know he was on the verge of death every time it happened lol. Their poor coach definitely didn't have it easy since Jian Rong kept on getting penalties from insulting people lmao.
And, of course, the games were exciting and riveting! There were so many good plays during each fight, and the teammates comments were hilarious! Listening to the commentators' analysis verses what actually happened in the games were also pretty funny lol.
Definitely recommend this book if you like esports or just want to read a good book.
I love this book so much, I’m so attached to the characters omgomg. I love the main story, mc and ml is just too cute, honestly never thought I’ll be into these kinds of e sports books, especially when I don’t even know what is going on, I do have an idea since I play mobile legends but it’s totally different from it
Jiang rong my beloved, I think this little dumbass charmed my heart. How I wish they were real!! I relate to him so much, show don’t tell, what a perfect love language. They’re so perfect together ahhhh ily babies!!!
I love the side couple sm too, their dynamite is just chef’s kiss (or maybe I’m just biased towards sunshine x grumpy tropes)
Perfect amount of Romance and gaming mixed together, I love. There’s actual relationship buildup and I didn’t feel an ounce of awkwardness despite the age gap, what magic did Jiang zi bei feed into this book ahhaha.
Re-read 2024 Sooooo I've now read this 4 times and I'm still in love. Laugh, cry, squealing, and fist pumping. I love these boys so much.
Also I'm so glad I re-read and saw the newest Extra because hahahahahha OMG BAI?!?!? Their poor manager seriously just hahahha that poor man. ----------------------- wth why was this so good????? Addicted. Lost sleep over. Guess I'm now going to go read more webnovels...
I enjoyed it a lot, but I’m dropping it at 67% (chapter 99) not because it’s lacking but because I’m craving something else. Also, since the main leads got together that’s my cue to leave.
"No matter what champion you give me, I'll always be able to carry.”
Soft, a popular League of Legends streamer on StarTV, is known for shamelessly and ruthlessly trash talking professional LoL players. However, his viewers quickly notice a certain pattern. He has never once trash talked the professional player Road, no, he even seems to be a fan of his! Due to his great playing abilities, Soft ends up getting invited into TTC, the professional LoL team Road is the captain of. It doesn’t take much for the relationship between the captain and the new professional player to change.
"I like you."
Jian Rong (Soft), seems to be shameless as he insults nearly everyone he comes across. However, as soon as Lu Boyuan (Road) appears near him, he changes his whole behavior — he sits up correctly, stays quiet and just overall is suddenly able to behave. Although, he does keep slipping up, which is where the moments full of secondhand embarrassment enter the room. Lu Boyuan seems to be fond of the newcomer, and the special treatment doesn’t exactly go unnoticed by others either. Despite this novel being more of a slow burn, the tension and chemistry between Jian Rong and Lu Boyuan are easily noticeable before the establishment of their relationship.
Until his hand was held by someone.
Apart from Jian Rong and Lu Boyuan as the main character and main lead, all the other characters were written well and given proper individual personalities. The novel is filled with funny dialogues and many other humorous aspects and doesn’t explicitly deal with any angst.
As this is my first esports novel, all my expectations were exceeded. I didn’t know a single thing about LoL, but was still able to easily follow the content of each match and even was able to recall details about each of their positions by the end. The slow burn is definitely worth it, as the tension between the two of them is just that intense. As soon as I started reading, I could not put this novel down and therefore ended up finishing it in roughly a day.
Amazing. For me, the stars of the book were Soft's entire fanbase, his "dads." They're the first ones to laugh and point at Soft's mistakes, but also the first ones to jump in when anyone else tries to do so lol.
They were so hilarious, and I couldn't help but laugh a couple of times while reading their comments. I find it so accurate, because chinese netizens are just so creatively funny. Seeing the rest of the characters dumbfounded at how Soft's fanbase acts is just the cherry on top.
I love Soft so much, you guys don't understand. He's such a shameless brat, and he's not only good at trash-talking, but he has the talent to back it up. It was always funny to see him trying to behave whenever Road is in the vicinity, even when Road adores how much of a gremlin he is.
The attraction between Road and Soft is there from their very first interaction. Both of them are the kings of acts of service as a love language, and you can tell they deeply care.
I was a little worried about the power imbalance; Soft is a long-time fan, and if Road was any less great, maybe things would get muddy. But nothing to worry about, they're so sweet and embarrassing together, and they communicate perfectly with each other.
E-sports. Competition. Comedy. This was fun to read 😂 I laughed out loud several times. Coincidentally, I was reading this during LOL Worlds Final. Reality is really no different than a shōnen manga.
I have officially fallen down the danmei rabbit hole. I have no idea why I’m here, I know nothing about e-sports. However, I definitely had a good time with this one. All the characters are trolls, and they rub off on each other and make each other worse. It’s very entertaining.
I will say that the age gap between the main pairing made me a little uncomfortable especially because it felt a little too convenient that Jian Rong turned 18 before Lu Boyuan started hitting on him. It felt as though he was waiting, which I guess is better than the alternative, but it still felt a little weird. Even so, I will say that Lu Boyuan handled it carefully.
All in all, I never thought I’d enjoy a story about gamers this much, but here we are. I’ve learned more about League of Legends than I ever planned on. It’s a brain rot read when you want something easy and fun, and if you’re a diehard gamer, this is definitely for you.
I had so much fun while reading this novel! Great world-building, complex characters, amazing couple dynamic, gold-tier comedy, and exciting scenes of e-Sports competitions. One of the best-written novels I have read in this genre.
Gosh this was cute. What a comfort read these past couple of weeks. This is definitely not the type of webnovel I'd normally pick up, but I enjoyed it so much that I'm interested in checking out the author's other works. I loved these characters so much!
I Can Do It is such a treat! The book is simply amazing! I've been consuming too much angst for the past weeks to help me vent the stress I've been feeling with our finals so I wanted a change to that. This book easily crawled its way to my heart, striking me so hard that even Zhonya's Hourglass won't help dispel the infatuation I am being subjected to with this book.
Jian Rong and Lu Boyuan is such an endearing couple! They are simply adorable and are both very strong individuals which really adds to their dynamic's charm. I also love that if you really think about it, Road is a much more bigger menace than our Soft. He's the really biggest jungler daddy in the whole world. And Soft is just like his name, a softie. And I love that for them.
The plot isn't that hard to follow and there are no deep conflicts but the tournaments can really make you grip your sheets. Aside from the hilarious banters, the game plays and team compositions are really meticulous that it makes me think that Jiang Zi Bei is also beating people up in Diamond. Also, the outplays are also amazing! I can vividly imagine them to the point that it felt like I was the one on the games. Insane level of mastery, to be honest.
Now, I want to talk about the other pro players. I noticed that even if their trashtalks are really somehow "rotten," they never spat out homophobic remarks especially after when our couple came out of the closet. Sure, they're pointing out that dating inside the team made them weaker but that's just the limit. I really respect that.
Wait, I really want to talk about other pro players, okay? Haha! Whenever LCK is getting mentioned, I can't help but think of T1 and picture Faker. That Daddy of ours is really strong! Congratulations to them for winning Worlds 2024! Speaking of LCK, I believe that Savior is just the cutest! Shiliu too, a really good friend, just like XIU. There are also some nasty characters but they're basically harmless. It's normal to crash cars and trash talk each other to death especially in the league, so I was never really pissed off. In fact, I am amused all throughout the roastings!
On TTC, they're all so so adorable and amazing! Our very dependable Qian-ge. Our dynamic duo Pine and Xiao Bai. Our backbone, Road. And of course, the world's number 1 mid laner, our Soft! Congratulations to them! Really paving the way for the whole LoL industry in their world! I wish for more gifts and salary raises to my children. Let's hope Ding-ge doesn't get tired of being with them no matter how naughty they are! Haha! TTC for the win!
I, myself, have been a fan of eSports ever since because I have friends who are on that industry, and I also occasionally join university-wide tournaments when I want to. I'm pretty sure this book isn't a hard read for the ones who doesn't play because the translators did a really great job with how they worded the novel. I am beyond thankful for them. I was really blushing-giggling-kicking my feet in the air because of this book! Maybe it's just me but I would really love to know more about Road and Soft's background. I mean, the foundation is there but some parts are really vague. But it's okay! I'm still contented. It's also a bonus that Pine and Xiao Bai being together is real and canon! I'm so happy!
I'm sending my heart out to Ding-ge, he's really hanging in there with the troubles his members are giving him. But this Laoniang is so satisfied I feel like I could be Fu-ge for a moment and bestow large red envelopes to the whole team!
This novel was SOOO GOOD!! I adored it! The characters are so lovable, their interactions had me giggling, smiling uncontrollably and literally kicking my feet while reading. It’s just that cute.
The esports theme made it extra interesting, especially since I don’t know much about esports myself, but it pulled me in right away. The whole team was amazing, every member was so well thought out, even their manager and I grew so attached to them all. I also loved how there were characters outside the team that added even more charm to the story and whom I loved so much as well!
The MC being a trash talker was such a unique twist. I’ve read a lot of arrogant characters before, but he felt fresh and original. His relationship with his fans was also so wholesome and entertaining and mainly very very unique. I loved that so much!
The romance was definitely a slow burn (they only get together around chapter 80+ out of 145 I think), which I loved. For me, the build-up and tension are often even better than the relationship itself, and this one delivered perfectly. Their relationship was soft, pure, and adorable. There isn’t explicit smut (which makes sense considering the coming-of-age aspect), but there are very softly written scenes that felt just right. The side couple’s story only really gets confirmed in the extras (in the main story they play pretend for the fans), but I enjoyed them too and more of them would’ve been welcome, though it didn’t feel like a huge miss either.
Overall, this novel was adorable, funny and engaging the whole way through. I’d absolutely recommend it if you’re looking for something sweet, refreshing and fun to read!
Buddy Reading this with thewhelmedlife (Ope) who is my fellow danmei sister in heart.
I am a suck at gaming related books since I was an ex-gamer. So, when I heard about this book being a top rated Danmei in China, I had to read it.
This book is a slice of life of a pro-gamer and a streamer turned pro-gamer in the world of League of Legends (LoL), a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game. While I am unfamiliar with the techniques of MOBA games, I do have a sense of how the game works but was still concerned about it being overwhelming due to the technical aspects of it. My worries were unfounded since the author did an amazing job breaking down the technical terms and the translator was great enough to add footnotes for LoL terms.
The book itself is a sweet romance and features Jian Rong/Gamer ID: Soft, the MC who is a streamer turned pro-gamer and his journey as he grew as a pro-gamer and developed throughout the book. He is a riot! Being a huge trash talker and a strong confident person with fierce competitive skills to back it up, his arrogance knows no bounds except when it comes to his idol and captain, Lu Boyuan/Gamer ID: Road, the ML where he acts so decent and good. The irony, lol! I love how they started out as teammates and admire each other. Their romance can be considered slow burn since they didn’t get together until mid-way through the book..but the author is kind enough to give us a lot of sweet moments scattered here and there - The obliviousness they had towards each other and their feelings were too funny!
The author is an expert of bringing humour to her books and this book littered with it. Soft’s dad and mum’s fans are just TOO FUNNY for words with such unique interactions that I cannot help but lol’ed at certain moments. I also love the supporting characters especially the eventual side couple, Xiao Bai and Pine featured in the extras.
Honestly, you can’t go wrong with this read! If I had to compared it to a recent c-drama, it would closely resemble “Falling with Your Smile” although the main leads there are boy/girl love.
What a pleasant & fun read this whole book has been throughout. Despite having read a fair amount of danmei starting earlier this year, I haven't really check out much of those with e-sports genre. Kinda weird though because everything I've read with this particular genre has been nothing but good stuffs. I've finished 2 (and maybe 3 if we're counting The King's Avatar's earlier volumes), and currently reading a few whose translation are still ongoing, and perhaps, this has become another personal favorite of mine to date.
It was just so wholesome & hilarious, I'm not even kidding. Even though I also found Glory & AA E-Sports a highly enjoyable read at the moment, but the biggest reason why I love I Can Do It was due to how palpably enjoyable the main characters' journey in terms of slowly building a relationship as lovers that flowed in the most natural ways possible. The amount of secondhand embarrasment in this story was unbeliavable to say the least, and yet it added flavour to the story, which is something I rarely took a liking when reading. Not to mention, everything was well-balanced; be it the amount of parts that were put into the game itself or the budding relationship that existed outside it.
If we're gonna talking about my favorite bits about this novel, Jian Rong would definitely not be left out lol. The whole being that he is, the transition he went through from a merely streamer to a top player, the way he falls in love and manage to grow while trying to nurturing it with his best, and his whole savage personality that brought so much hilarity through his interactions with his fans are surely things that I'd be greatly miss from the book. And Lu Boyuan!I just love our captain so much♥️
The rest of characters were plenty entertaining too, Xiao Bai has been a constant joy to read, and Ding-ge was hilarious when he was pushed into the corner lol. Contrary to the other books, I actually enjoyed reading fans & netizens' comments throughout, I do think they added so much color to the story even until the end.
I'd absolutely love to revisit this in the future; a perfect moodbooster with a truckload amount of humor & fluff!
trashtalking nd good flaming is what makes this novel good 4 me. 1 hater 2 another, this dumbass novel is pretty good.
love how funny and entertaining this e-sports novel was. all thanks to the protagonist who is a such an op trashtalker/flamer. im a fake gamer and suck at competitive gaming, so i didnt reaaallyyy care abt the flow of the game that much tbh but the way the author wrote was definitely hype worthy and i had fun when it came to their matches.
the intra and inter team dynamics were really fun esp with the typical stressed out manager bc of how handful they are trope. i love good team rivalry and banter equivalent inner conflicts. tho the focus really isnt that much on inter team dynamics, it's more on the relationship nd a bit on gaming which was expected for a light e-sports romance read but i can complain. im a soft fan anyway.
i liked soft's dad fans, they were like their grandfather indeed, absolutely hilarious. and soft's influence on saviour (whos probably one my fave characters) was pretty great i loved their moments. soft corrupting saviour was the highlight 4 me, wish the author focused more on those aspects more. would have loved if these kind of dynamics were explored more.
i also wish the author could have done some things differently, the xenophobia was kind of annoying and uncomfortable. esp the last arc, the xenophobic elements made some plot points really stupid. which makes u side eye the author bc the things were going pretty well then the unnecessary xenophobia kicks in :/
4.5 stars rounded up to 4 bc it was a fun novel nd its been a while since ive read a contemporary novel so idk what my evaluation criteria is for a contemporary read.
I literally re-read firstly before coming to rate and writing review, I sound like am NPC😭, but no this is absolutely good and devoured hahaha.
Amazing love and all between the ml and mc, and how their interaction is, is my favorite, and please can we talk about how nasty and foul Jian Rong is lol, makes me like him more! go off my self-confident king and absolute diva!!
Appreciating how well-written and amazingly the connection between all the characters!!! This is equivalent to found family ngl, even with how Xiao Bai and soft bicker like there's no tomorrow. The connection between the ml and mc is top-notch and the water friends make me laugh I don't know but I can read this immediately after finishing!!!!
