Keith and Kristyn Getty occupy a unique space in the world of music as modern hymn writers, international worship leaders, and conference speakers. Perhaps best-known for the modern hymn, “In Christ Alone” (written by Keith with Stuart Townend and performed by Keith and Kristyn), the Gettys have reinvented the traditional hymn form and created a catalog of songs teaching Christian doctrine and crossing the genres of traditional, classical, folk, and contemporary composition. Keith and Kristyn live between Northern Ireland and Nashville with their daughters, Eliza Joy, Charlotte, and Grace.

I'm listening to a different audio New Testament each week this summer (and I listened to this narration of both testaments last summer). This one is a good one. Listening to someone with a different accent than my own helps point out some unique readings of this translation, but the narration is smooth enough that you must keep checking yourself to make sure you don't let it turn into just background noise.

I was delighted to discover Kristyn Getty's reading of the ESV Bible. Best use of an Audible credit! Thankfully, no background music (shudder), just the words of life. Kristyn's Irish voice is the right blend of measured, steady, direct. I think David Suchet's narration remains my favorite, but it was good to hear a woman's voice reading.

It's funny about Biblical names. A ridiculous thing to nitpick, but one is attached to the pronunciations one grew up with. I had such a hard time listening to Getty's "Elisha" with a short i. Particularly when "Elijah" was pronounced eee-LIE-juh.

When I found my attention meandering, I would either replay that day's portion, or sit down and read with my eyes.

One of my favorite yearly traditions now is to read the entire Bible in 1-2 months at the start of the new year. It is spiritually uplifting and convicting to see the broad picture of God’s plan for all man-kind, of which I’m just a tiny part of. This audio version was music to my ears. I love Kristyn’s soothing voice. One of my new favorite ways to consume Gods word is by turning it on while I do dishes or drive etc. I’m so glad we live in an age where we can listen to His word, not just read it.

I read through the Bible for lent and listening to Kristyn Getty on audio was so soothing! I recommend going through the Bible quickly at least once, you get such a great view of the whole Bible and when Jesus is born it’s this actual feeling of relief and peace because He kept His promise and came for us like the Old Testament continually pointed to. Wonderful, wonderful news.

Her gentle reading of the Bible is such a sweet way to hear God's word. Her voice is soothing and refreshing and beautiful to listen to and easy to understand at the same time. Love it so much and would rate it ten stars out of five if I could :-)

Love, love, love Getty's voice. Not the "voice of god" as they say in narration, but not too soft. Just right.

Scripture itself always gets five stars! This recording itself I would give four.

Oh my. I am so thankful I stumbled on this audiobook of the Bible. The ESV is not my usual translation, although I think it excellent. However, when I discovered this audiobook was narrated by Kristyn Getty in her soft and beautiful Irish accent, I had to own it and listen to it. First, I have never come across a Bible narration by a woman before, and hearing Kristy's soothing voice made the Bible reading feel more personal. If you've been looking for an audio version of the Bible, I would highly recommend this one, even if the ESV isn't your chosen translation for study.

UPDATE: I used this audiobook again in 2025 and I still feel the same way.

I enjoy Kristyn Getty's voice so much! This is my third "Re-read" since I found her.

I have previously tried dramatic readings and enjoyed them, however, I couldn't take more than the allotted 15 minutes a day to stay on track with my reading the Bible in a year's plan.

Now, if I listen to anything less than thirty minutes, in the morning and night, something is missing.

I know that has a lot to do with the Holy Spirit and my yearning to get more, however, her voice paved the way.
