Appellations is book 3 in the Harken Darringer series that chronicles the AIDS Era years of an underground young man that has given up trying to make sense of how he got where he is in the world. This is a rambling last ride through sex in San Francisco with a bomb ticking under the skin. The ever pressing pressure of lost time cooks under Harken's skin as he tries to make the most of whatever time he knows he has left, and find connection. Lost without his friends and contacts in Los Angeles over the years he turns to sex as his greatest confidant, despite the terror sex brings during the AIDS years.
DoctorBuckles is an adventurer with an avid fascination for human proclivities. One proclivity brought him his name: DoctorBuckles. He laughs when asked what it means because it blurs the boundary between his former sex-work profession, his current professional life, and that of being a gay artist. He says, “It keeps people guessing.” He is also a gay overachiever amassing no less than four degrees – Bachelors in Art, with special emphasis on life drawing, a Doctor of Education in Counseling Psychology, a Masters in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling, and a Masters in Art Therapy. He also trained at the Stanford University Department of Psychiatry Drug and Alcohol Clinic while launching his career as an advocate and social therapist for gang-affiliated mothers and at-risk youth as well as homeless populations and people with AIDS/HIV. Currently he is a Chemical Dependency Recovery Specialist working with licensed professional populations. He lives in the hub of Boystown in West Hollywood, California and is active in the gay community.
