Keep the Faith: Standing for Biblical Truth, Discerning Ministry Trends, Reaching forward with the Gospel

Rate this book
When the apostle Paul finished his course, he left two significant spiritual accomplishments. First, he kept the faith. And second, he had trained others to do the same. Through Paul’s mentoring and training ministry, Timothy, Titus, and even their spiritual descendants for centuries to come were faithful to Christ and held fast to His truth. In fact, we have the truth today because others have kept the faith, holding God’s Word and its doctrines above personal preferences, petty divisions, and worldly philosophies. The question then Are we keeping the faith? Furthermore, are we training spiritual disciples who will stand fast for Christ no matter which direction the winds of culture blow? In these thorough, well-researched pages, Paul Chappell takes readers on a journey through the history of those who have courageously stood for truth as he explores what impact the doctrine of separation made in the shaping of our spiritual heritage. He then explores several current ministry trends and terms, holding each up to Scripture to discern their strengths and weaknesses. Throughout each chapter, you will find an emphasis on Scripture as our final authority, Christ as our target, and reaching others with the gospel as our calling. Read and be challenged to tenaciously stand for truth, wisely discern current ministry trends, and faithfully build for future generations.

Earnestly Contending with Grace

I have always appreciated Pastor Chappell’s balance in ministry philosophy and methodology as well as his firm stand on Biblical doctrine. He does not disappoint in Keep the Faith!
While I may hold a different perspective on some of the more minor details related to the points he makes (I.e. - that it is the younger pastors who are walking away from the fundamentals and who have the bad attitudes. I would contend that it is the hateful and pharisaical pastors who walked away from the fundamentals when they began teaching for doctrine the tradition of men and their own preferences.), I certainly stand with him in the importance of upholding Jesus Christ, the Gospel, and the doctrine we find in the Word of God.
The history lesson he gives throughout the book is really eye opening. Do yourself a favor and read Keep the Faith!

Keep the Faith by @paulchappell of West Coast Baptist College is a discussion of recent ministry trends. So much of what is important to church leadership has come from societal pressures and not biblical convictions. This book discusses biblical separation, social justice, hyper-grace, the history of fundamentalism and much more. It’s an easy read and so relevant for current pastors both young and old. #paulchappell #westcoastbaptistcollege #wcbcedu #strivingtogetherpublications #booksiveread #purposefulpassion #christianliving #

A lot of good things brought out in this book.

I agree mostly with everything he said. I do believe I have to be very careful with the books I read.
