Revenge of the Kitten Queen

Rate this book
Our feline warlord has begun his reign as Emperor of the Universe! His headquarters? The litterbox command center in the Banerjee family basement. But be careful what you wish for--as Klawde finds out, even the lord of all living matter has to follow the rules, even if they're designed to squelch evil dreams. What's more, plots to otherthrow him are rampant, and Klawde needs allies. Who can he turn to? Barx and the space rangers of the Dog Star Galaxy? (Hairball.) Ffangg and the other Allied Warlords of Evil? (Double hairball.) Or--least appealing of all--the Calico Queen, his former earthcat protege and current ruler Lyttyrboks? Meanwhile, Raj is trying to survive in an even more perilous group of enemies and allies: the students and parents of the Elba Middle School Newspaper Club.

Once again, Klawde has another hit. While he's busy ignoring Barx, who's nagging Klawde to do his Emperor-ish duties and sign bills and legislation making the universe a better place, Klawde is planning how to unseat the Kitten Queen from her rule on Lyttrbox – well, in between naps, that is.

The mangy, unable-to-speak Earth kitten sets events in motion to lure Klawde into her claws, first by kidnapping Barx (which Klawde is blissfully aware of, but uninclined to do anything about), engineering the betrayal of his top henchman, Floofyfur (which Klawde is mildly annoyed by, but all good cats betray their leaders, so was to be expected, really), and finally, kidnaping Raj.

Ahem.

No one messes with the Emperor's pet.

Raj of course doesn't think of himself that way, but he does get to go on an interstellar adventure this time, including wormhole travel and everything!

This is a fantastic installment in the Klawde series and I look forward to more of his adventures. Enjoy!

Klawde is discovering that being Emperor isn't all he thought it would be. No one is taking his orders seriously, and that renegade calico seems to have designs on taking his spot. Raj's mom volunteered to help oversee the school newspaper which means he also has to join. He wanted to write about the school lunch options but editor Scorpion took that and assigned Raj to investigate the school bathroom situation with Cedar. And Raj's dad has decided to take a class on fermented foods, so suddenly there's an abundance of sauerkraut and kombucha.

This book demonstrates why it is important for governments to have checks and balances. It also highlights the importance of freedom of the press and how journalism can be a force for good. Klawde spends much of the book taking out his frustrations on Raj, but when a crisis moment arrives he does come through and show he at least has a little heart.

Notes on content: No language issues. No sexual content. Klawde and his enemies talk mean but no one is actually hurt (except some cat scratches).

Whenever I pick up a book from this series, I find myself constantly surprised. It's such a fun and pleasurable read every time. The illustrations do a wonderful job of bringing the text to life and depicting the diversity in the cast. The story itself is very funny and wholesome read. I hope all the contributors continue with this series because I certainly can't get enough.

Jester's thoughts.
I've enjoyed every book in this series! It's absolutely entertaining and funny!

Klawde and Raj continue to be great characters.

It's the last book, and I'm glad past characters have returned! I love them all, even if they are evil aliens.

Klawde has moved on to bigger and better things. With no longer any plans to conquer the feline planet Lytterboks, he is now Emperor of the Universe. Bigger! Badder! Better! Well… he's trying to be badder. See, there are rules to follow when you rule the universe, like: The Universal Code of Good Conduct. Plus, with the Cosmic Council and Barx as Klawde's prime minister, things don't go exactly as the Emperor wants. Then there's the business of The Calico Queen… Oh, and Klawde has to deal with online trolls. Prayers for Klawde, please.

Imperial Edict #81: All spotted Earth cats who have left their home planet must learn how to SPEAK ACTUAL WORDS.

Klawde, I love and worship you, but you're starting to sound like that Annoying Orange who is also president.

"It's the old team, together again!" Flooffee said. "Team Klawde! The Fearsome Foursome!"

"The Good Boys!" Barx said.

Oh, Barx, I love you!

This is a great series and I highly recommend it!
