From the bestselling author of AM I DOING THIS RIGHT? comes an honest, hilarious, entirely relatable illustrated guide to living life right. And wrong. This is not your average self-help book.
There are no filters, no frittatas and no fake. In Help Self, Tanya gets real as she discusses food, love, friendship, careers and mental health, and (of course) she gets real hilarious too.
From being mistaken for a pregnant woman when she'd just had too many Cheezels, to understanding whatever alien language your friend's child is speaking, to overcoming an unexpected breakup with your best friend, Tanya Hennessy has all the life-hack, pro-tips for getting through this chaos we call life.
If Amy Schumer and Rebel Wilson had a love child, you'd get Tanya Hennessy - comedian, radio announcer and social media sensation. Originally from Newcastle, Tanya started in radio in 2012. Since then she has become an international social media sensation; written her first book, bestseller Am I Doing This Right?; become an ambassador for Priceline Pharmacy; sold out 27 venues for her first comedy show Low Expectations; and appeared on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! In 2017 Tanya's rising star was recognized when she won the Junkee Award for Breakthrough Artist, was nominated for Cosmo Woman of the Year, selected to perform at Australia's first VIDCON and won best radio documentary at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards. Talented and hilarious, Tanya is a true multi-media star.
This amazing book speaks for itself and is a must have for every bookshelf!
I was very kindly gifted Am I doing this right for Christmas 2 years ago and it was exactly the book I needed to kick off my 2019 reading journey with the A to Z on what to do and what maybe not to do in life.
This incredible 2nd book contains everything from food to the best expresso martini recipe ever, relationships, beauty, fashion, mind body spirit, fitness (goals), mental health, careers and other random shit.
The books is physically stunning. There is so much detail and thought that’s gone into every single page. The extra notes and marks and her dads quote on the back the book is priceless. There are so many great quotes but this would have to be hands down my favourite;
“Fuck your fears, Lead with kindness and always have gratitude.”
I devoured this book in one day. I absolutely loved Tanya's first book and knew I would love Help Self. I laughed and happy cried. I needed to read this book, the details and the photos just make it even more special.
There are some good but fleeting moments in this book; unfortunately the most interesting and 'helpful' parts were never gone into in more depth than one or two lines. I do like Tanya Hennessy in general, but I don't like this book.
I love Tanya and I loved her first book. I felt like this one was a bit try hard funny. But also, I just didn’t relate to it at all so perhaps that’s why I didn’t really connect to it.
There were parts that didn't fully resonate otherwise I'd give it 5 stars.
Hilarious, helpful and relatable life advice from someone I look up to and who's done everything she writes about so it inspires me to do and want to do it too.
So glad to be able to come back to this time and time again whether to have a laugh at her antics or to feel like someone else gets it and its really okay.
I'm curious to know more about the things that didn't work and getting into the nitty gritty of that and be able to connect at a much deeper level, but still a great and enjoyable read.
This book is like pizza. Once you start you have to keep going. When you know you're full but you're enjoying it so much you'll keep going till you've got only a little left. Then you regret the next day that you have only a little bit left over. Or you went all out and finished it all in one go, and regret that you don't have any left overs for tomorrow. Only the book doesn't give you fat thighs and leave you reassessing your life choices. Love it!
If I could give this book more stars I would. What a fantastic and enjoyable read. Tanya Hennessy you have done it again!!! I absolutely loved this book and would recommend to everyone. I have never laughed so hard before, some of her little stories are hilarious and very entertaining.
I don't know who she is (i dont live in Australia) but it was on sale and she looks cute/quirky/like I'd want to have a wine with her.
Unfortunately I think you need to be a fan to understand this book. Otherwise it's just self deprecating ramblings or vapid listicles that try to hard to be amusing. All peppered an abundance of poop jokes.
Absolutely brilliant. Tanya brings all her sass, hilarity, honesty and wonderful talent to yet another fantastic read. The book is easy to read, the content is raw, funny, cringe-worthy but mostly binge-worthy. It’s such a great read if you’re up for something definitely helping self worthy.
It was good. I never put much stock into self help books and I know this one isn't all that serious but it did get me to think a little different for a change. It was funny in some places but it didn't really have a whole lot of content and some wasn't applicable to me but it's worth a look
