The final whistle blows at Anfield and we have beaten Wolves 2-0 but I know that we have been pipped to the Premier League title on the final day of the season by our rivals Manchester City – despite our record league points total. The hairs on the back of my neck stand up as the fans defiantly sing ‘We Shall Not Be Moved’.
July 22, 2020 . . .
I watch Hendo dance and thrust the Premier League trophy into the sky at a near-deserted Anfield after a fifteen-month spell in which we have become European Cup, Super Cup and, for the first time, World Club Cup winners.
Robbo: Now You’re Gonna Believe Us is the inside story of an unrivalled period in the illustrious history of Liverpool Football Club – as seen through my eyes.
Taking you behind the scenes at Anfield and Melwood, I’ll reveal how it all happened – how doubters turned to believers and brought the league title home after a thirty-year wait.
From the dressing room to the pitch, this is my story of our year to remember.
Andrew Henry Robertson is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a left back for Premier League club Liverpool and the Scotland national team.
I'm incredibly biased, but I enjoyed every second of this reading experience. With the shade of doom and gloom currently hanging around the club following the derby draw and Virgil's injury, this book did well to capture the rapturous magic of last season, but it also sharpened the sense of loss borne of how drastically the mood has shifted this season. Still, this book reminded me that "mentality monsters" isn't just a marketing slogan and that Liverpool, as a club, is still more than arguably its best player. I still have faith in Jürgen to steady the ship, faith in Robbo and the other boys that they won't let their heads drop, and even though something bruised and tender twisted inside me at each mention of Virgil, I have faith that he'll be back better than before.
Focusing on the book itself, I really enjoyed it for all the peeks behind the curtain and Robbo's little love letters to his teammates. I'm glad that how close and tight-knit the boys appear to be seems to be well-founded in reality and it was just really heart-warming to read Robbo waxing lyrical about Hendo, Milly, Ads, and the other boys. It was fun reliving the historical season Liverpool had through Robbo's eyes and reminded me of what it felt like to be part of something greater than myself, to ride the cresting tide of collective euphoria that had been years in the making. Maybe it's silly and fairly daft to people who don't view sport in this lens, but I will always be grateful for the joy Liverpool F.C. have given me.
Reading Robbo was like having a milk shake for dinner. It was a wonderful little guilty pleasure for this five-decades long Liverpool fan. Having suffered through an interminable 30-year wait for Liverpool to win the league, the 2019/20 season looked to be a brilliant realization of that aim until Covid-19 shut the whole thing down in March. Robertson, with honesty, humor, and decency (no tales out of school here) gives us an insiders view of the season and the effects of the pandemic on the EPL and, ultimately, the title win itself. He does so in a way that reflects great credit on him and his club and again, when he discusses the horrific events of Sean Cox's almost fatal injuries - it is refreshing to know that he, his teammates, and the people at the club showed great concern for Cox and his family in their time of need. It made me proud to be a Liverpool fan.
I’m an Andy Robertson fan first, human being second. If Robertson has one million fans, I’m one of them. If Robertson has 10 fans, I’m one of them. If Robertson has 1 fan, that fan is me. If Robertson has no fans then I’m no longer on earth. If the world is against Andy Robertson, then I’m against the world.
I'm a die hard Liverpool fan, born and bred in the home of said club.
This book was everything that I thought it would be, from humour to sorrow, he says everything that every Liverpool fan for the past 30 years and even now with how our season has gone but it inspires hope. If anyone who is a die hard red knows what robbo is about, how his personality comes through no matter what, whether it is an interview on tv, in an article or in this book, it just glows no matter what.
The feeling this book gave me really is immense, I have rellived all of the highs and all of the lows, the good, bad and the (rare) ugly, oh my god the laughter not only the interviews and the funny things coming from the boss and from our lads and the tears of the incredible season that our lads gave us, the video of watching the lads watch the match that handed us the Premier League for the first time in the 30 years (watching Jurgen Klopp dad dancing), seeing our lads being interviewed with some of our very cheeky lads interupting them haha. thank you robbo for letting me relive the season and that night through your eyes. i was 5 months old the last time we won the league and all i've heard are stories, now i have my own to tell
The book is an authentic and interesting account of a phenomenal left-back of Liverpool Football Club about the legendary season where they won a series of prestigious trophies, especially the Premier League after a 30-year wait. In his story of the whole season, he offered his personal insights and shared his emotions about each key moment. Having read the autobiography by Steven Gerrard where he suffered massively after letting the Premier League title slip when it was too close to grab, this book is a very satisfying read. Compared to the era of Steven Gerrard, this current Liverpool FC was gifted with a lot of fortunes: a great manager and a great squad with the best players in each position. I enjoyed reading about Jordan Henderson because he was the only player in both the Gerrard era and the current squad. Despite criticisms earlier in his career, he worked hard to disprove the critics with his technical skills and leadership qualities. Lastly, it was interesting to have a peek into Robbo's personal life as a loving dad and a dedicated community member who tried so hard to help the underprivileged in his hometown.
If you've read Andy's article for the player's tribune and thought that was amazing then you will be blown away with how incredible this book is. I think it is important for whoever is reading this to know that Robertson is my all-time favorite player so my opinion may be slightly biased but my mom, a Tottenham fan enjoyed what she read of the book as well. I have never been so hyped up about a book being released but luckily the book exceeded my already high expectations. If you are ever debating as to whether or not you should get this book, I strongly recommend that you do and I can promise that you will not be disappointed.
En tant que supportrice de Liverpool mon avis est probablement biaisé mais j'ai adoré ma lecture. Un plaisir de ce remémorer cette saison bien qu'elle fut particulière. J'ai aimé l'honnêteté d'Andy Robertson.
Even if this book was crap it would still get 5 stars because it’s Andrew Robertson, but this was genuinely the best football book I’ve read up to now.

Great book giving one of my favourite player's perspectives on the events of last season where LFC finally ended the 30 year wait for a league title win :-D Having followed a lot of media coverage throughout the season, and the time where COVID-19 meant that the season was potentially going to be null and voided, seeing it from the other side of the curtain made for some interesting reading. Also how Klopp and the backroom staff are integral to everything that the club has achieved over the past 2-3 years, and little elements like preparing for a new season by training to hold their breath underwater, taken from a pro surfer that was brought in, to help them cope with moments where the pressure was building. Well worth reading for any football fans, but especially Liverpool fans.
As a Liverpool supporter, my view will obviously be biased. The best part of this book is hearing Robbo's perspective and re-living the incredible 2019/2020 campaign through his eyes and perspectives. Highlights include how he missed part of pre-season due to a spider bite and focus on their mentality in each game.
However, I could not give it five stars as while the content was incredible and fascinating, the quality of writing itself made some chapters a struggle. Would recommend to anyone who wants first-hand insight into an incredible year.
I cannot rate that book unbiased it is five stars just for the background of it. I am a massive Liverpool fan and this book that follows our journey to the first Premier League title was just something to read that got to my feelings. I liked how the story was told and how hit pinpointed the important events around in the year. I really liked that it did not shy away from critique and also showed the feelings of the players.
Nothing will top the feeling this book gave me. Reliving the highs and the lows, the good and the bad, the laughter and the tears of the most incredible season to be a Liverpool fan.
Robbo told the story of the season that saw the craziest turn of events in a way that made me laugh while I was crying, and wish I had been in the Liverpool FC dressing room the whole way through.
Brilliant book. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this and a number of laughs along the way. As Robbie is my favourite Liverpool player it was really great to read about his journey to the premier league title. Interesting insight into how the players coped with the lockdown and the impact upon them. Highly recommended and an easy read
Always good to relive something that's fresh in your mind. Highly reccomend this book to any LFC fan. I always held Robbo in a high regard but his stock has gone up much more after reading this. He may be the best left back in the world but that doesn't stop him from being a down to earth and humble bloke.
Excellent read that brings you a closer picture of Klopp’s man management skills, the camaraderie of the team and a behind-the-scenes narrative of the title-winning season.
Read this and watch the matches on LFC REPLAYED on YouTube and relive THE ROAD TO #19.
Loved Robbo before reading this, love him even more now. The lad personifies what LFC is all about. His story of the magical and ultimately bizzarre season that ended our 30 year wait for an elusive league title is all at once heartfelt, informative and entertaining. Well in Robbo La, YNWA
Robbo has done a pretty good job providing his insight into what it takes to be a great footballer and an insider account of the most incredibly difficult Premier League season ever. What does it feel like to be the Champions of Europe, the World and the Premier League in one calendar year? Robbo provides the answers. YNWA
Heavily biased as a Liverpool fan but this was an amazing read - takes you through all the key moments in the season Liverpool won and makes you feel like you were there. Whilst it wasn't a Robbo biography, there was still plenty of good information and stories about his life.
As an HUGE Liverpool fan, it was great to get behind the scenes in one of the greatest seasons in premier league history & get an insight into how the boys think, and what their performance mindset is like.
A good read (especially as a Liverpool supporter) - an interesting, warm and funny account of Liverpool’s 2019/20 winning premiership season through the eyes of one of the fans’ favourite Andy Robertson.
