Call of the Wolf #2

Path of the Wolves

Rate this book
An unexpected visitor. A high-profile murder. No one she can trust.

Fire witch Alyssa Crawford and shifter Alpha Marcus Walker have their hands full with the discovery of the High Priestess’s body. There’s no trace of Marcus’s father, and neither of them know if this exonerates him or makes him look like even more of a suspect.

It seems like a break in the case when Alyssa’s boss gives her a classified document that possibly ties everything together. Only one problem: she’s bound by magic to keep the secret under wraps…or suffer the consequences.

But when the document disappears from her home, and magic doesn’t seem to be involved, Alyssa must choose between obeying the bond…or involving Marcus in a case where his father could very well be responsible for the string of supernatural murders.

My name is Adam Dark.

I write horror and paranormal stories based on my vivid dreams. It's the best way that I know of to get the demons out and onto paper. I hope they haunt you and leave your heart pumping like they do me.

I established my first LLC. when I was ten years old. My friends were my first employees. Other than sharing my stories with others, I love making videos on YouTube. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth a million. I've directed two movies so far. You can find them on YouTube at Super Plus Toys.

Outside of writing, I spend most of my time playing guitar or golf. Travel is also high on my list of leisure activities. I've been to seven countries within Europe and plan to visit many more in the years to come. The richness of other cultures is thrilling!

I have a pet tarantula named Venom; a dog named Emma; and cat named Ellie. They are my secret confidants to the mysterious worlds I create. I have both an American and Danish passport. Feel free to ask me more about my Polish heritage.

Some other things I enjoy are rock n' roll, public speaking, broccoli (I know, isn't that weird!), school, and heart-wrenching horror movies that leave me clinging to the seat. While I love learning, I dislike homework, disrespectful and rude people, senseless drama, and bullies. There is no room for hatred. We only have one life to live; let's do it to the best that we can and treat everyone with love and kindness.

“Path of the Wolves” by Adam Dark & Matthew Thrush, the second installment in the “Call of the Wolf” series, is a fast-paced, urban fantasy action adventure that blends mystery and procedural with UF tropes.

The protagonist duo, fire witch Alyssa and alpha werewolf Markus are tasked with finding the killer of the High Priestess. A high-profile case that will test Alyssa’s and Markus’s relationship, beyond their own boundaries. Alyssa is under secret oath to keep information that could break the case strictly under wraps, but as the related documentation is stolen, she would have to choose between keeping her oath or rely in Markus and deal with the consequences, giving Markus the difficult choice between his own father or the truth.

“Call of the Wolf” is a thrilling paranormal romance series, that entices with fast-paced action and captivates the reader with a very well-crafted fantasy world, interesting characters and intelligent plots. As stories go, this is even better than the last!

Wolves and witches don’t mix!

Alyssa Crawford is a fire witch and a police detective. Marcus Walker is the Alpha-in-training to the Walker Pack and with his father’s disappearance, he is the acting Alpha. Alyssa was banned by Logan Walker but she and Marcus cannot deny the sparks that exist between them even if the Pack is hostile toward her. She was hoping that her investigation of a pack member’s murder would change their attitude, but someone is blocking her investigation and when the High Priestess witch is murdered at a charity gala, the evidence seems to implicate a wolf. Something is going on and the “higher-ups” want it concealed and do not want Alyssa on the case.

This is a good, fast-paced paranormal crime novel with enough intrigue and twists to make it interesting. I really enjoyed the book and would have given it 5 stars except I did not like the giant cliff-hanger at the end. I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

Rcvd an advanced reader copy from the author for giving my two cents. The plot thickens...the 1st book ended in death and we begin this book with questions around that-said death. Alyssa is up to her eyeballs in unknowns. Who would kill someone with such high standing and in their own home? And what of Marcus' father still missing? And to top it off Alyssa is suspended...OMG...what could get worse? Marcus has an idea but its a horrible one that goes against everything Alyssa stands for. Then a mysterious phone call at midnight leads to information and that information leads to more unknowns and threats. Can Alyssa stand her ground? Secrecy, lies, drama and a lot of OMGs makes this a page turner.

Continuing from Book 1, Alyssa Crawford, a Fire Witch, and her ex-lover, Marcus Walker, the Alpha’s son and next in line, feel their old relationship spark to life again as they work together on a murder case. They are trying to look into the death of pack mate Ren as well as find out what happened to Logan Walker, the Alpha of the pack.

Alyssa’s boss gives her a classified document that may tie everything together, but bound by magic, she can’t use the information. When the document goes missing, will she continue to keep the document confidential or will she involve Marcus in a case where his father could be responsible for the supernatural murders?

Cliffhanger ending looms ahead, but the next book will quickly roll out to keep up the momentum.

What the heck?!?

Not gonna lie, I didn’t see that ending coming...

2nd book in the series, and the story continues with Alison & Marcus. Of course, all of the other characters are still here, but with a few new ones. We get a little bit more background on Anna and she’s pretty badass.

I have my suspicions of Anthony, the second son of Alpha Walker. He’s just too smug, too involved, and too smart mouthed for his own good.

Christy, Marcus’ second in command, is such a hot-head. I must admit I found it unusual for her to be in this position. Not because she couldn’t handle the job, I’m just not used to reading of it this way. Bravo to the writers for this!

As I close this review, I’m off to begin the 3rd book! Let the adventure continue!

The story and the stakes amps up in this thrilling sequel of Call of the Wolf. We pickup from right were we fell of the cliff from the previous book and dive right into a new murder...but is it different murderer? New twists and turns emerge from the shadows while keeping you on your toes and the questions spinning. New details from past and present come to light bringing only more questions and new enemies with them. Much like the last book this one ends on quite the cliffhanger which I feel will be a signature move for the entire series, so you’ve been warned...but isn’t that part of the fun?

When you get into this one you will already be invested with the two characters. Alyssa and Marcus still have their hands full with even more overflowing from their plate. There is also a twist to this one where she is concerned that caught my attention to the point of her being bound by magic to keep it secret I did find interesting. Another interesting element was the choices and seeing which would be chosen. This one even more of a thriller than last one so that tells me each one going to be a winner.

A WHODUNNIT WITHOUT AN IMMEDIATE ANSWER

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review

This is the second book in the series, Call of the Wolf, and is a cliffhanger. Elyssa is a fire witch and Marcus is acting alpha of the Walker wolf pack. Marcus’s father is missing and Marcus has enlisted Alyssa to help find him. Marcus’s father had banned Alyssa from the pack years ago and the wolves hate her. Death, sibling hatred, murder, kidnapping, and yearning abound in the book. There are twists and turns and the testing of integrity in the book.

The second book in the series finds Alyssa, a fire witch detective and shifter Marcus searching for his missing father. The High Priestess is murdered and pups are missing. Alyssa receives some information on the case, but is not allowed to share it with Marcus. Will the killer be found before more deaths occur? Suspense abounds in this exciting story!

Unpredictable, page-turner,twisted, tragic, and Hunting
Alassa liked being back with her long time friend Marcus. Feelings are not too far off reminiscing about the past. A high priestess is murder alpha logan walker is missing. Very strange indeed, so suspicious with all the Croak and Dagga

This story is good. It shows that Alyssa is frustrated and trying to find a thread she can pull is not happening. I can see were even a small tip can be blown out of proportion. I don't know why but I keep thinking about Anthony. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Well if this wasn't a wild ride to Hades and back! It was well written and even got me in the feels a few times. I love Alyssa and Marcus, could do without Anthony and Christy and the supernatural dating policies but I can not wait to find out what happens!

Next book please!

Good

Really liking the story. Wishing it would speed up romantically. Only complaint is grammar. Also, two big storyline errors. Going back to her apartment after the gala and then they are at his place. Someone needed more editing. Still a good read.

I am going to stick with my review from the first book in this series. I thought to give it one more try. While the characters or good and the plot is there, it just does not call to me.

This series has me so captivated and the suspense is killing me. I have to jump to book 3 right now!! I can't believe that cliffhanger! Bigger than in the first book.
The character development is really interesting. The tension between Marcus and Alyssa just keeps on building and now I really want to know the story about the newly introduced characters.

Alyssa and Marcus need to find out who killed Ren and the High Priestess. They also need to figure out where Marcus’s father went and who is taking the pups. So many mysteries and secrets. I am enjoying Alyssa and Marcus’s story and I like how the books end with a bang and start up at the same point the last one ended with. An exciting series. I would recommend this book.
