Neck-Romancer #2

Neck-Rological

Rate this book
Goddess, I know I said I'd try to stop being a whiny loser, but here we are.

What do you get when you cross a ghost, a Lycan, and a warlock with a necromancer? A bunch of funny business—the kind that could land Jaz in big trouble.

As the only necromancer in the world, the one thing Jaz should be able to do is resurrect the dead. When she fails at that, she’s about ready to give up on magic altogether.

If that weren’t bad enough, she’s helping her soulmates hide Pierce, a Lycan, on campus, in the middle of a war against magical beasts. Flouting the rules to keep one of her guys safe is one thing—but if Pierce is caught, everyone will assume he’s the enemy. Trouble won’t even begin to cover the repercussions they’ll face.

Worst of all, Jaz can’t even bring herself to admit her feelings for any of her soulmates—not even to herself, much less out loud.

When the Lycans come for them, the men she loves will risk everything to keep her safe. If she can’t tell them how she feels, she could lose them all. Forever.

Neck-Rological is book two in the Neck-Romancer series, a medium-burn reverse harem paranormal academy romance with three hot, protective men and a reluctant necromancer, perfect for fans of G. Bailey, Auryn Hadley, and Sadie Moss.

Overall, this series was entertaining. At times I found it to be over the top. For instance, each book has minimum of one if not two or three problems. In one book, The girls switch bodies (think Freaky Friday) only to find out it’s now Jas‘s wedding day! In my opinion there’s too much s3x (and that’s saying a lot because i love smut!) but the characters do it at the most inappropriate times and also each chapter there’s a new scene. Sometimes less is more. I also found the characters to be juvenile. I am new to this author so i am unsure if it’s her writing style or if she just wrote these characters like this. I cringed every times I read “for reals” and such. Eeek.

I DO like the bit of mystery that was set up throughtout the series and also how Jas kept adding to her harem throughout to series. I wanted to cry reading what really happened to Gilbert.

The series was three stars for me.

Jaz has got her hands full! This is a fast paced, steamy read, filled with some hilarious snark. The amount of times I giggled out loud with this book made my husband doubt my sanity - rude. Some cute and intriguing new characters make an appearance. The character development takes more of a back seat to the plot development, which is what you would expect in a second book, i enjoyed the relationships development. Really great read!

Continue Jaz's story with Neck-Rological!

I wanna be Jaz when I grow up. Badass lady, fiercely loyal, and knows what's in her heart.

She is reluctant about her powers, but for good reason. Why wouldn't she be after thinking she didn't have any? Elizabeth Dunlap did a splendid job once again, sucking me in from the very first word. I can't wait for the next installment! I mean book. You know. We gotta continue her story. We just gotta. What's the spin on words title going to be?

Also. I want Alec. Please?

*NOTE: this review is of the series NOT just this book. Minor spoilers ahead*

This series follows necromancer Jaz Neck following the discovery of her previously thought to be non-existent magic.

Overall, I have enjoyed this series. The premise, while slightly cliche (girl discovers she is Super Special after thinking she was Normal) was still enjoyable and made for a fun reading experience. There is plenty of humour within this series, but there is also plenty of substance and some proper gut-wrenching moments as is expected with a longer series. There are plenty of twists and turns, introductions to new characters and shifts in relationship dynamics.

My favourite thing about this series, perhaps apart from some of the humour, is how the characters interact with each other. I felt like every relationship within this series, whether it be between Jaz and her mates, siblings, friends or otherwise had depth and a story. Sometimes side characters can feel like tools to drive the plot, but I didn't feel that way with this series. Each of the side characters were likeable (or at least understandable) and were complex beings with their own thoughts, feelings and qualities. I loved reading the different interactions between any of the characters, and I felt like it really enriched the series at points were the plot might have been slower, making the series overall much more interesting to read.

I also loved that the love interests were introduced at different points in the series and developed relationships with Jaz at different paces. This is very much my preference when it comes to longer series, as I feel things can get a little boring if the mates are all "dumped" in book one and most of the tension is resolved halfway through the series. That being said, I do feel like some of Jaz's mates got a little more "screen time" than others. I am yet to read the last book though, so we shall see.

All in all, I found this to be a fun read without too angst. That being said, definitely check the trigger warnings because there are some more intense themes that come about in later books.

Burn: medium

Spice 4.5/5

Harem size: 5

M/M: yes

Great new sequel!

Neck-Rological is the second book in the Neck-Romancer series by Elizabeth Dunlap. I've also been lucky to read the first book in the series, which I loved and recommend you take the time to read it too. This time we get to know Jaz and her soul-mates as a unit, whom we were just introduced to in the first book. It's nice to see how they all work as a "family-unit". Not to mention we get to see how Jaz is still reeling and dealing with her necromancer powers not working as she wished. This book was all about growth, personal growth amongst the group, at the forfront, and redefining the definition of family to fit the four of them. And that ending... that ending... Well I won't spoil it for you, but it was something. Ms. Dunlap has done it again in my opinion, and I can't wait for the next book! Hope you enjoy!

Jaz is trying to come to terms with her powers and what happened with centaur. Alec takes everyone to his family home to get Jaz away from school. Jaz is pretty much left on her own there. Jaz gets to meet Alec's parents and Alec makes a surprising announcement. They decide it is time to go back. When they get back to school, they find out somethings have changed.
Jaz will continue to bond with her guys. She is afraid of her feeling for them, she doesn't like being vulnerable. Jaz also sees a face from her past in the last place she thought she would. Jaz will have some major decisions about her powers, her men, and what is next for her.

This was a good read. The character is trying to figure out some major life decisions. There are some steamy scenes but doesn't take away from the story.

I enjoy watching all these characters grow and gradually become their best selves. None of them are perfect from the start, but they work hard on truly being there for each other and to form a cohesive unit against everything that threatens them. The author also introduces us to some beautiful side characters, fully embracing the fact that love is love. It's quite refreshing that the issues regarding love in this series or more based on "witches vs. beasts" then on whether you love men, women or both.

I'm personally one of those readers that often switches between books and quickly loses interest as series continue. This series is different though; after finishing a book, I feel the need to immediately hop onto the next one. So that's what I'm gonna do right now; I recommend everyone to do the same ;-).

While this book is better than book 1, it still had a lot of stuff that dragged it down. There's a lot that happens that's not explained real well, leaving me confused way too much. Jaz/Jasmine is much more likable & less immature in this book, almost making her seem like a different character. The guys are a well working machine -as a RH, almost too smooth, considering they are all different types. Somehow, the 4 characters are a bit flat for the most part, I really don't feel like I know any of them very well to like them very much. I wanted more than just the sex between them, than was given. I want the relationships to feel real, not just chemistry or a bond. I'm torn on whether I liked this enough to want to continue or not when the next book releases in the series.

This book continues where book 1 ended, and it doe not disappoint. It is book 2 in the series and does end on a cliffhanger.
Jaz has her 3 soulmates, but is still trying to learn how to control her new powers.
This book is all about Jaz and her mates, and I love how this book centres on their relationship. Too many just jump into whatever crisis they have to deal with and forget about building relationships, so I really enjoyed seeing the characters develop and get to know each other better.
Still lots for Jaz to learn and also the impending fight with the Lycans. Book 3 should be action packed.

Love the name of the book. A play on her name and what she can do. Jaz has three mates. A warlock, a lycan, and a ghost. But they have to keep Pierce the lycan a secret and everyone at school thinks he’s her familiar as they only see him in his wolf form. Because witches and lycans are supposed to be at war and hate each other. But while trying to find out how to her ghost lover Gilbert back to life, they are attacked by Pierce’s old wolf pack and his family members. Now her necromancy powers which haven’t worked so well so far have to, or she will lose a mate. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review

Wow, I’m truly speechless. I truly don’t know where to start with this review. The book is hot and will keep you locked in til the end. Jazmine and her mate’s ( Pierce, Alec and Gabriel) seems to be laying the foundation to their relationship very strongly. I truly love how protective they all are with each other. It’s just solidified that they are meant for each other, not to mention adds another layer to their relationship. I do admire Alec and Pierce for facing their families and express their love for Jaz. I must say I love their new home, where they can be free. Mostly, I love Alec’s free nature. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

This has lots of steaming hot menage activities. Jaz is a new necromancer and she's slowly learning to use her powers. She has three soulmates. Each is different and bring out the best in her. She's a tough cookie who needs love and tenderness. Each supplies her with the support she needs. She's trying to find away to bring her ghost lover back to human form. Her wolf is danger and her warlock is her champion. This is a hot read that you need a cold shower after reading.

This second book had it all! Action, romance, plot building and suspense. I loved watching Jaz come into who she is and I loved her growing relationships with her men. They compliment her so well. The story flows with ease and keeps you tied to the pages needing to find out what will happen next. And that ending, although ends in a big cliffhanger, was epic. I loved this second book and the unique concept of necromancy and other supernatural beings. Looking forward to seeing where the author takes us next in this exciting academy adventure!

I am loving the continuation of this series watching the storyline progress with all the drama and romance. The MC and her men will get you steamy. The characters are continuing to grow and learn their strengths and weaknesses. The author has done a great job on this second book letting the character evolve and the storyline made me feel like I was right in the action watching it happen right there with them. Loved it and would highly recommend especially if read first one.

I loved the first book and this one is just as good. Its fast-paced with action, steam and plenty of laughs. The banter between the guys had me cracking up. Especially the flirting between Alec & Pierce. Those two will have to make good on that one in one of these books (secretly hoping, lol). Jaz (FMC) seems to come into her own & gradually build in confidence in this book. More so after what happened with the Centaur in book 1. Ah i also loved Merlin. What a cutie!! Im loving this series so much and i cant wait for the next book

What kind of Necromancer can't save someone that's what Jazz is left questioning herself about one dead Centaur. Then theres her romantic life her wearwolf's identity has to remain secret and her one bright spot her Warlock well his family may just be displeased about her being a Necromancer so with enemies and unhappy family circling like hungry sharks how is she going to bring back her dead ghost lover. Life and death shouldnt be so complicated well it is if your Jazz.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.

Super Read!!

This book picks up right where the last one ended with Jaz and her three mates at the Claus mansion recovering from the attack.
Jaz is just as funny in this one with her quick sarcasm but it’s great to see her grow and finally start to open up the the boys. All of whom are creating their own brotherly relationships! 😃
Jaz is slowly coming into her power’s and it’s interesting how she develops this!
Pierce’s secret is now starting to be known and it divides friends from foes! I cannot believe that ending though 😮

Second in series, amazing continuation to series

RH, fated mates, rare magic, Academy setting.

I love the relationship growth that occurs in this book. The dynamics of the group, their families and each other are so vastly varied, it makes it interesting to see how Jaz and her guys get along. The unique magic, the war between the magical and mystical. I would love to know how that started...I have a feeling I know at least part of it. Grab some tissue and patience that ending was rough. Need book 3 ASAP!!

The first book in this series was intriguing enough for me to look into the second. I'm always pleased to see polly rep, and i'm especially pleased that Alex is not shy about nor wavering for his appreciation of men, women, and everyone above consenting age. It does feel like this would be a richer story if a little more time was placed on world building. It's a book that feels fast-paced but also like it should be slower. I'll keep an eye out formore audio books from this series, but they won't be my first go-to.

This one

This one made me cry, well the ending did so be prepared.

We see how hard it is for Jaz to be the only Necromancer alive and how her mates do anything to help and protect her, as does she for them. We see the dynamic grow as if they didn't just met or as if there's no war between species, all because of her.

I cant wait to see what happens next and if Gilbert will remember himself.

Lovely continuation of the story. RH +18. The situations develop and the FMC ' abilities continue to develop. If you like a snarky FMC and a great story line with interesting boyfriends keep reading this series.

It was amazing to watch Jaz and her guys come together from where we left off in book 1. This book was filled with humor, steam, and character/group growth. Just a warning that there is a cliffhanger in the end and you may want to steamroll Dunlap for it. LOL. Cannot wait for book 3!

This was a fun easy read. Jaz is on her journey of life and love and trying to learn her skilled craft. I enjoyed it but it did seem to be missing a major challenge or issue, so the story was just pretty consistent. Still fun and enjoyable. Looking forward to book 3.
