Isabella Espinoza faces a threat that may be too much even for her: Someone with command over death itself. After superhuman detective Isabella Espinoza and smuggler Jack McCrae rescue Amari from a camp of slavers, she presents them a new case.
Her own murder.
Amari believes she was killed and resurrected by a mysterious figure known only as The Necromancer. As his first success, The Necromancer wants to recapture Amari, and he’ll stop at nothing until he has her. Soon, Isabella and Amari have no choice but to face him.
But how can they defeat someone who has seemingly mastered death?

Book two certainly doesn’t disappoint, it’s full of the same fat paced, action paced, thinking on the fly, book as the first one. It picked up from the last book running. I loved it, all the bad situations that need to be gotten out of and now there’s two ass kicking women. They’re very special women, that have had some serious things done to them. This is a great book with a wonderful story, that easily took me on quite a journey. I absolutely love the characters. I hope to read book 3, I have to know how the rest of the story goes.
This is book two of the Isabella Espinoza series and sees former detective Isabella hired by the supposed uncle of a missing woman called Amari. Her friend and occasional lover, smuggler Jack McCrae, accompanies her on this latest job as she managed to trace Amari to a difficult location. It seems that Amari is being held in an enslaver’s compound, which has watchtowers on each corner and a heavily guarded front gate. She may have been used to tackling night stalkers alone, after having been bitten by one, and saved from turning into one by her friend and scientist David, who managed to make a serum. It didn’t stop all the changes, and has left her with extra strength and other abilities, but also red eyes which frighten some. Having Jack along allows him to distract the guards while Isabella jumps the fence and finds the missing woman.
She is quite an important prisoner, as Isabella finds out. Someone called the Necromancer, has been experimenting on survivors, trying to bring someone back from the dead. Amari is his first success and he wants her back! The Necromancer has managed to make certain changes to others in his group, including quick healing, somewhat like Isabella after her bite, but much quicker. Isabella notices this after observing Amari being shot, but being completely healed by the time she gets her to any medical help from her former police boss and mentor’s daughter in the Cathedral Hill compound. Isabella goes off to check Amari’s abduction site and manages to catch a few of her abductors, but they are all fairly tight lipped about what their boss wants with her and are even willing to die to keep their secrets! When she gets word of an attack on the Cathedral Hill enclave, she has to use her special powers to get back in time, to find the whole compound is under attack by night stalkers, who somehow seem to be working together, and not just going for the easiest target, including their fellow injured creatures. They are almost overrun, until an unexpected source comes to their aid.
Someone had a tracker in Amari and David manages to trace back where the originating signal comes from, but that is not exactly good news for Isabella. It leads back into the depths of the Void and next to the location of the portal that initially opened, bringing all the creatures into their world. The area is full of night crawlers and is bathed in absolute darkness, which no light can penetrate and only Isabella’s enhanced vision allows her to see where she is going. Someone seems to be following or tracking her to this dangerous place. Finding herself facing someone who has seemingly mastered death and is somehow also controlling the night crawlers, is a daunting prospect and one she may not be able to manage even with her additional powers. A shocking revelation linking the Necromancer to her arch nemesis Camilla Arkwright, and to someone she thought on her side, brings disappointment and anger to Isabella.
The inner part of the Necromancer’s compound is the portal itself and what they are doing linking to it and the dangers that come through it, are unclear. It seems a huge amount of power is being pulled through this portal and for what reason, Isabella and Amari will need to find out or try to destroy what is there, to stop more attacks on the innocents inside their compounds. Their journey to figuring out what the Necromancer is really up to, is going to take them into even more dangerous territory and allow them to come face to face with the man himself and find out what other dangerous plans he has for their world. This book certainly has an explosive and high action ending, but the danger isn’t over yet and Isabella and Amari are going to be facing even more foes in the next instalment. This book is full of action, betrayal, wicked foes and some very dramatic fight scenes, as Isabella and Amari will be facing creatures beyond their widest fears and with even more wicked and deadly killing methods. What will happen next will need everyone to work together, if they are to have any chance of survival. I can’t wait. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
✳️✳️ONE BLOCK BUSTING TREAT✳️✳️ Holy hell Hades! Hanson delivers with this skillfully spun debacle, with her no holds barred, take no prisoner's and no turning back attitude, hooking you from the start and reeling you in for the duration, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Navigating a vicious plot chock-full of daring drama, perilous intrigue, ruthless brutality, escalating danger, spiraling suspense, along with intense situations, manipulation of the sinister deeds and heinous acts, along with a boatload of revelations, make for one mind-blowing masterpiece. Observing the formidable trials and challenging tribulations, noting the deadly twists and dramatic turns, broken boundaries and shredded limitations are amplified and expanded, igniting a fierce surge of determination with such intensity and precision, thrusting this gem into the eye of the storm, kicking it into a tailspin with a jaw dropping realization. One action packed, hard hitting, heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, nailbiting, unnerving, page flipping bombshell, launching this jewel to staggering heights. The characters, banter, interactions and charged atmosphere are realistic, complex and genuine with traits and qualities, add depth and diversity, blending into charismatic personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions that feel as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Fantastic job Hanson, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.
I would like to thank the author for allowing me to read this second book in the series: "Isabella Espinoza".
I love the book covers of this series. Here we see the pretty Isabella ready to attack holding a weapon in the may and on the other a knife.
We find the pretty Isabella who here is confronted with something very big for her, the death is ordered by someone. In the first book Isabella and Jack McCrae saved Amari from a slave camp, here she is in a new investigation the one of his death. Amari thinks that Isabella was killed and that a Necromancer gave her back to life. This one wants to kill Amari and he will not stop until Amari is dead. Will they succeed in defeating this Necromancer who seems to have mastered death so well?
A book read in one go, so much so that I immediately fell in love with the story, so captivating, addictive, full of suspense and twists and turns with characters as endearing as ever. Can't wait to read book three.
Another fast paced installment of Isabella Espinosa's adventures!!!
The book picks up after the events of the first book and is as engrossing and captivating. The plot twists kept me on my seat's edge and I read in one sitting, not daring to stray my eyes from my e-reader. The plot thickens and new characters enter the picture, while those we met in the first book make their appearance as well and play an important role in the storyline.
If you've read "Eternal Dusk", then this is a must read. And if you haven't... well, that's your loss. I highly recommend the series for all fans of urban fantasy!!!
A gripping page turner of an urban fantasy read, brilliantly written, fantastically developed characters with amazingly strong chemistry throughout a brilliantly engaging storyline. An urban fantasy leading on shortly after the 1st book finishes, filled with deception, action, murder, suspense, intrigue, friendship, perceived betrayal, a little sexy time and an ending making me want to read the next book. This is my first series by K Hanson, a fantastic series so far and I cannot wait for what comes next.

Great read with plenty of interesting characters and lots of action. The lead character is a female detective who has accidentally gained extra abilities when she takes an experimental antidote intended to reverse the effects that come from bring bitten by a night stalker. Amazingly she still pursues justice and to bring criminals to account even though law and order has broken down. Whilst I don't usually read apocalyptic fantasy, this story held my interest and I actually look forward to the next in series.. who knew?!
The second in the series Isabella Espinoza. Isabella with the help of Jack rescue Amari for a client. Amari then explains she was killed and brought back to life by the Necromancer. Now the client (Necromancer) wants Amari back. I love the strong female character, fast paced, action packed, surprises, and vivid world building with a touch of steam. I'm dying to find out what if anything goes on with Isabella and Jack in the third of the series!

Isabella and Jack has rescued Amari and now she has to be their client. She thinks she was murdered and that a Necromancer brought her back to life. And she was positive that he wanted her back to prove that he’d done it! This storyline was a adventure as they work to find answers and help her stay safe! The characters were perfect as they pulled you into this intriguing story.

So the fast-paced, butt-kicking, flying by the seat of your pants from the first book definitely continued in this one. Isabella is still awesome and her story still exciting. A great continuation from the first, a flawless transition from book 1 to 2 by the way. Can't wait to read book 3!

I liked this story and revisiting Isabella. It had action, suspense, mystery and great characters. It made me laugh and groan but kept me reading to the end to get the answers to why someone wants Amari. Just a fun world and story line that was fun to read. Loved this world and series.
A urban adventure full of action, suspenseful intrigue with an exciting female leading the charge. The characters are charismatic, attention grabbing and fun with wonderful chemistry.
