There was some solid stuff in here reflecting on some of Lewis’ most seminal works. There was also a weird obsession with his marriage, a couple concepts too abstract for a beginner retreat book, and a very twisted sentiment of death.
This book was a gift for my girlfriend, who knows that I am a big fan of CS Lewis and his work. The book however is not one of his, but uses him as a retreat leader for religious study.
For the most part I did enjoy the book, although I feel it would've benefited much more adding a few pages to deepen the connection between the reader and Louis. The seventh chapter, the one regarding her relationship with death, feels particularly lacking wheel motion and depth, something that Louis would've been able to accomplish much better than the author of this book. Not only that, but there is a difference between doctrines regarding the state of the dead that the separate me even further from the chapter.
