Xander Nobody swipes right on a guy who’s built his muscles shoveling grave dirt. Running the cemetery in Deadwood, South Dakota, that’s been in my family for generations pays well and gives me the freedom to live life on my terms. But I wouldn’t mind finding somebody to share that life with. When my best friend dies unexpectedly, far too young, it shakes me — and makes me wonder who’ll be left to cry for me when I’m gone. That’s why I sign up for the Find Your Boo speed dating event. I try not to get my hopes up. At least not until she walks in — red lips, legs for days, and curves that demand to be worshipped.
Autumn The last place I want to be is Deadwood. I mean, come on, just look at the name. But after my modeling career goes belly up, that’s exactly where I find myself. My friend registers me for Find Your Boo, like I need speed dating after everything that’s happened. Still, I go. Because somewhere beneath all the jadedness and wounds I earned in New York City, there’s a part of me that still longs to be loved just as I am. There’s about a snowflake’s chance in hell that I’ll find what I’m aching for in Deadwood. But I can’t give up hope. That’s all I’ve got left.

This is set in the small town of Deadwood, South Dakota... which is just awesome! I loved Xander, who literally lives in a Graveyard. The cemetery in Deadwood has been in his family for generations. He loves his job, but it keeps the women at bay. Xander and his brother go to a Bar in town and he gets roped into a Speed Dating thing called "Find Your Boo".
Autumn is the girl that walks into his life. She has just returned home after a failed attempt at a modeling career in New York. It's definitely insta-love, but it's a super short novella so it works just fine for me! I love love love Halloween... and this was such a fun read! There are Graveyard shenanigans that go down and plenty of fun costumes to boot. While it is steamy, it's also very sweet and heartfelt. Both Xander and Autumn are extremely lonely and just about to give up hope for happiness. However, they are exactly what the other person needs in their life. I can't wait to try others in the Hunky Halloween series now!
I really liked this sweet story. Both Autumn and Xander are struggling with their loneliness and the direction life is going. Goaded into participating in a speed dating event, they find themselves at passion's doorstep. Let's just say that the moans in the graveyard aren't from ghosts and goblins! 😉
In addition to being sweet, there's fun, laughter, heat, and plenty of heart as these two open themselves up to their potential. If you're looking for a quick Halloween themed easy read, this is it!

I’m getting a few Halloween stories in before Oct. 31 and this one was absolutely perfect. I fell for Xander right away. And when Autumn entered the picture, I felt their chemistry sizzling. A great, quick read!
A thought popped in my head, the lonely hearts club. Xander was the owner/caretaker of the town's cemetery. It's been in his family for many generations. One thing, he loves the place but he's lonely. His brother left as soon as he could and now has a full life with a great job, beautiful wife and family. Xander wants that. Autumn was returning home from NYC to live in her parents basement. So much happened to her in the City but she too was lonely. Both of them found themself in the town's bar attending a speed dating night. They make a connection. You'll have to read about their connection. It's really good, of course it's centered around Halloween. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Written by Cindy :)
I love this story! There is no drama and it’s about two people feeling lonely and finding exactly what they needed when least expected. It’s sweet and funny and naughty!
Wonderful!! This was a nice quick, short read. I absolutely love it.
Xander meets Autumn at the only bar in town on speed dating. Xander is lonely, his father left him the cemetery his family has owned for generations. He doesn’t date, he barely goes out. His mother and brother worry about him. Autumn tried to be a model in NYC. Everyone told her she was to curvy being a size 6 instead of 0. She even went in a reality show but was blacklisted. She heads to her parents home in Deadwood, South Dakota. After arriving her taxi isn’t waiting for her so she walks into the small town. Xanders brother suggest they go out, needing some time away from the cemetery he does. They head to The Bision Saloon, the only bar in town. As they order their beers Xander attention is drawn to the other room. He ask what’s going on, the bartender tells him it’s speed dating event. His brother tells him to do it, reluctantly he does. Autumn arrives at the bar to find out she can’t catch a ride home. So she goes inside the bar. After she finishes a beer a woman pulls her into the speed dating, telling her they need more woman. After they all take a break, Xander catches Autumn heading into the bathroom. He watches for her to come out. When they start up another round Xander find the seat across from her. After a nervous conversation, they are pulled towards each other and being to kiss. They hear cheers all around them. He asks her if he can take her someplace. She tells him yes she trusts him. After they arrive at the cemetery he explains to her that it’s his. He pulls out a blanket and they sit and talk. They both tell each other they feel a pull towards the other. After they make out he takes her back to his home. A few days later they attend the annual Halloween party at the bar. Autumn meets his mom and brother and Xander meets her parents. One year later with a three month old and pregnant again happily married they once again attend the annual Halloween party at the same bar they met just a year ago.

This book hit close to home for me. Reading the synopsis at first I thought about skipping it because of Xander’s job. My reasoning is I don’t do books about cemeteries or death like that. I lost one of my 12 year twin boys last year and my whole life just crumbled into ruin and rubble and I’m still suffering major ptsd from it. I’m really a shell of a man that I use to be after losing my marriage and family over it. So I avoid these kind of books, but I’m very loyal and I enjoy Poppy’s books very much so I decided to give it a whirl. I’m very glad I did. Xander and Autumn truly shared a beautiful story and I think quite a blessed union. Their HEA was truly deserved. Poppy, as usual paints such a vivid world in her stories that I just felt the loneliness coming off of these two and listening to Jed’s story I too teared up some. Mostly because I share in that loneliness. I can only hope that I will have an HEA myself one day. This story was truly mesmerizing because it had me smiling. The modeling world is truly cutthroat and people being petty and evil as can be drove this woman from her dreams and home but luckily into the arms of Xander and a better future. So I guess the saying when one door closes look for a window, eh? The chemistry between Xander and Autumn was also off the charts hot! I enjoyed how they came together and just knew they belonged. I know that’s rare but it does exist. If you’ve haven’t read any of Poppy’s books I beg you to start. She truly is skilled and pulling her readers into the worlds she creates and they’re made of magic. You will enjoy these stories and become instant fans. This one gets 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 radiant stars from me.
Boo Boy by Poppy Parkes is part of the multi-author Hunky Halloween series. This is a fast-paced and fun short story about Autumn and Xander. Xander was born and grew up in Deadwood, South Dakota with his brother Andrew and the family cemetery. Andrew left town but Xander has stayed as he took over the cemetery when his father died, as a dying wish from him. Xander is feeling a bit on edge as he loves and hates the cemetery. It also does not help that everyone in his family seems to think Andrew is the golden boy. Autumn is coming to live in Deadwood, not by choice but more as a retreat. She had moved to New York City with dreams of becoming a model but at a size 6 instead of 0 let's just say that her curvier figure is not what was desired. But Autumn really felt the sting of rejection with a modeling reality show that had everyone piling on her until she snapped and then social media also piled on some more. She was blackballed from the industry so she decided to come stay with her parents for a while to decide what she wants to do next. It is a good thing they have a basement suite she can stay in. Xander and Autumn meet at the only bar in town, The Bison Saloon, a few nights before Halloween at the Find Your Boo speed dating event. Neither actually went to the saloon for the event but they both ended up there and they made a connection.
I enjoyed this story and found it well written with an interesting story-line. The characters are good and their internal dialogue kept me reading. The epilogue was a nice look a few years into their future with some great results.
WHAT did I just read? I wanted a quick, fun Halloween romance, and this was uh, something. I got the feeling the author spat something out for the sake of a deadline, so it turned into a waste of everyone's time. I'm too irritated to write a true review, so here are the bullet points:
- With a hero who is a graveyard caretaker, you'd think the meet-cute would be intriguing and maybe a little spooky. Instead, they met in an underwhelming encounter at a bar.
- The sex wasn't great-- "cauldron" was literally used as a euphemism.
- I wish the author had put a warning that this was an insta-love story. If insta-love is your bag, then maybe you'll like this.
- Despite living in Montana, it's obvious the author has never set foot in Deadwood, South Dakota, and couldn't be bothered to do any research. I know this is a short piece of fluff and Amazon competition is stiff, but research on this would've been extremely easy. First, there is no commercial airport in walking distance of Deadwood. Next, Deadwood is painted as a nothing town, but in reality, the casinos and bars fuel a pretty good night life. Also, how can you write about Halloween in Deadwood and *not* mention Deadweird, i.e., the massive party that shuts down nearly all of Main Street? Finally, the hero is the town cemetery caretaker, but the author completely erased Mount Moriah, Deadwood's most famous cemetery. I honestly don't know why the author chose Deadwood as a setting only to completely ignore it. She did SD dirty.
Poppy Parkes has delivered a super cute, sweet and steamy insta love romance in her contribution to the Hunky Halloween series. Xander is the caretaker of his family's graveyard in Deadwood. While he loves his job and the family legacy, he is feeling lonely, like something in missing. Autumn has just returned from New York City after a failed modeling career to move into her parents' basement, when she stumbles into The Bison bar. Xander is there with his brother, and both get dragged into the Halloween-themed speed dating event taking place. It is during a break in the event that Xander first spots Autumn, and once he has, he is a goner - and it is not a one-sided attraction. The instant chemistry and connection between these two is super sweet and steamy.
If you are looking for a quick and satisfying insta love romance, this is one Halloween treat you will not be sorry you snatched up.

I liked this short story. It was entertaining and enjoyable for the most part. The characters were interesting and likable. Autumn and Xander were both very lucky in that their families were loving and supportive of them and their decisions. The way they meet was a crack up for me. There are plenty of feels with this story. At first, I wanted Xander to walk away from the graveyard, but I soon realized it was more than just the graveyard that made him feel the way that he did. Autumn amazed me with her bravery in trying something and her willingness to do what was necessary when it didn't work the way she wanted it to. Autumn and Xander had some major instalove going on after they meet at the speed dating event. I loved their happy ever after and I recommend reading this book.

First things first; I love the cover of this book! Boo boy is the first book in the ‘’hunky Halloween’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Xander is a little lost in life. He loves his home and his job but he is feeling a little lost. After her modelling career fails to take off, Autumn decides to visit her parents in a small town. When she gets talked into speed dating she doesn’t expect to find love. The chemistry between Xander and Autumn is clear to see and I liked them together. I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for more books from this series.
This is a great story! I didn't want it to end. I enjoyed every second of it. I always enjoy reading stories by Poppy Parkes.

What a fun Halloween story! No one expects to find love at a speed dating event, especially not two people who jump in at the very last moment. What I liked most was that Xander and Autumn created a true connection, beyond physical attraction, by being open and honest with one another. Both are lonely, both searching for something more. Fast paced, with quirky elements, steamy encounters, and instalove celebrated. This brought a smile to my face, as it sure to do yours! Happy Reading!!

Autumn gets more than she bargained for when she comes home to Deadwood and winds up at a speed dating event right after she arrives. Xander can’t take his eyes off Autumn the moment he sees her and as Autumn pours her heart out to him, he is falling head over heels for her. As they go off for a romp in the cemetery, Xander knows just what to do to keep her warm and by the end of the night they are inseparable as they work towards their HEA.

This Book is part of a new series called Hunky Halloween Series, a must read.

Despite this being a Halloween themed story, there is nothing scary about it. It is just very sweet. And because it is as short as it is, of course there is not really great depth to anything. But despite that it was a very good short romance and it certainly did deliver what it said it would in the BLURB. So fine four stars go to this story.

I’ve been waiting for this book to come out and it did not disappoint. This was a quick and cute read. Xander has taken over the family graveyard and feels like he fits better with the dead than the living. Autumn came back home due to the bullying and cruelness in the modeling world. Both are lonely. They end up joining a Boo speed dating event at a bar. Their connection was sweet and they fit together so well.
Xander has lived in Deadwood forever. He inherited the cemetery. His brother wants him to meet someone. When they go to a bar, they discover there is a speed dating round set up there. Xander decides to join in. He meets Autumn there. Autumn has moved to Deadwood to live in her parents basement. The characters are relatable. They have chemistry. This is a short read.

Small Town, Speed Date, who would have thought.... I love Xander and Autumn's story it fun, sweet, and hot. Xander is a graveyard keeper (yes weird) and Autumn is head to live in her parent's basement ( but it has it's own kitchen). I love how they met in at speed dating that neither of them really wanted to join.
This story is will just warm you heart and get you ready for the season.

3.5 stars Speed dating can be fun. Especially in Deadwood land. It’s Halloween time there and Bison saloon is having a “flind your Boo event”. Autumn is lonely and is asked to participate to even the odds. Zander participates to have fun. In teh three minute time, Autumn’s hesitation is not an option. Short read for the Boo in you. No cliffhanger customer optional

This is a sweet instalove romance between Xander, who owns and runs a cemetary and Autumn, who returns to Deadwood after trying to launch a modelling career in New York. Both characters are very likeable and their connection through a speed dating event at the local pub was unexpected. The Halloween theme was largely confined to the epilogue, but this was a quick, fun read, not just for Halloween.
Xander is lonely, being the good son who stayed to take over the family business, A graveyard, it's all its cracked up to be. Autumn left NYC behind along with her failed modeling career and retreats to her parents in Deadwood never expecting to meet her soulmate at a speed dating event her first night in town but she and Xander just connect in this sweet read.
A whirlwind romance of finding that someone when you least expect and taking away the loneliness. Good couple that just click on all levels, making it seem so easy. Like that this was simple with no high drama. Cute read with a wonderful ending.

Autumn is headed home to her parents house with her tail tucked between her legs. She didn't make it as a fashion model and now she has to live in her parents basement. On the way she stops at a saloon and is talked into doing a speed date thing. There she meets Xander, who owns the cemetery. It has a great ending.
A wonderful heartwarming story about two very lonely people Xander and Autumn who find love in a local bar called The Bison in a town called Deadwood near my favourite time of year Halloween. This is a sweet Halloween treat no tricks and I loved this short story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
