Show the little ones in your life that distance and separation can't stop us from sharing a special hello with those we love.
It's difficult to be separated from those we love, and sometimes it's hard to feel connected when we can't be together in person.
This board book helps fill that need to connect, with a simple I'm still here, even though I'm not right there beside you . A series of scenarios depicts a narrator employing various forms of communication—from video calls and letters to dolphin-messengers and skywriting—to say a simple "hello" to someone far away.
Exploring the idea of connecting over distance, whether it's through a pane of glass or across a continent, this book delivers its earnest message in a lighthearted way, engaging children's imaginations in thinking of delightful new ways to say "hello." The book will remind them that they are loved by those they can't always see. Instead of emphasizing what we can't do when we're apart, this book takes a positive view and makes a game out of finding new ways we can communicate.
Reassuring and imaginative, this board book fills a growing need to reach out and connect with one another.
When little children aren't able to be with their loved ones, it can be difficult for them to understand. Hello From Here by Pamela Kennedy helps little ones realize that they can connect with them from a distance.
Hello From Here is a beautifully illustrated and sturdy board book that measures about 7 by 7 inches and is longer than some board books at 24 pages. It is full of creative ways that little ones could think about reaching out to their loved ones through wonderfully rhyming verse. Some of them are possible and some of them are imaginary but all of them a great reminders that love travels from one heart to another wherever their loved ones are. There are also some favorite elements in this book like pizza, rockets to the moon and dinosaurs that appeal to both boys and girls. Hello From Here would be a great book for a little person who can't be with their special loved one for awhile.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions within this review are my own.
This board book is already a favorite with my grandson. He loves to point to the pictures while I read the rhymes. And the sentimentalities are warm enough to melt the heart.
The message of this book is that no matter how far we are from loved ones, we still think of them and love them. The story shows creative and whimsical ways to say hello from afar.
I love the colorful illustrations, and the rhyming text flows smoothly. The characters are inclusive, showcasing boys and girls of different ethnicities and abilities. Hello From Here makes a touching and meaningful gift to a child from a distant loved one, reassuring them that no matter how far, they are loved just the same.
What do you do when someone you love lives far away? How do you stay connected with someone when you aren’t physically together?
“Hello From Here” is a darling book about love and explores the various ways we can stay connected even when we are apart. This book is especially relevant for the time we are in. As our world has been turned upside down by the global pandemic, this book serves as a beautiful reminder about the power of a “Hello.” There is power in picking up the phone, writing a letter, sending a thoughtful gift, and more (you’ll have to read the book to learn about all the different ways the narrator comes up with). A hello, whether simple or extravagant tells the recipient “I’m thinking about you,” “you’re important,” “I love you.”
With darling illustrations by MacKenzie Haley and a darling story by Pamela Kennedy, this book is charming, inspiring, and one that may spark your (young ones) imagination on creating and sending your own “hellos”.
“Hello From Here” is a reminder to little ones and grown-ups alike that love transcends distance and is just one hello away.
*special thanks to the wonderful folks at Hachette for sending me this complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review. You guys are awesome!
Pamela Kennedy in HELLO FROM HERE helps the smallest child understand various ways that you can communicate long distance. The book begins with a phone call, then a letter, then sending a picture. As you turn the pages in this book, the methods grow in complexity and imagination such as writing a message in the sky with a jet airplane or tagging a dolphin with a message from you or the echo on a mountain top or flying a rocket to the moon and planting a flag, “See you soon!”
Each page in HELLO FROM HERE combines fun words with colorful illustrations from Mackenzie Haley. Your child will love these words and the message of love “which lasts forever.” I enjoyed this book and recommend it.
This past year most children have missed spending time with those they love who do not live nearby. Even when the pandemic is over there will still be those who are separated by distance. Pamela Kennedy’s Hello from Here is a great book for those situations. I can see grandparents, aunts, uncles, and parents who don’t live with the child (for whatever reason) giving this book to children they love as a reminder of their love. Kennedy shows how children and the adults who love them can say hello from a distance. Practical ideas like phone calls and letters. More silly ideas like notes tied to dolphins and sending a dinosaur. I can see this book becoming a well-loved book by young children. Hello from Here is a board book so it is probably more appropriate in a home library than a school library. I received a complimentary copy of Hello from Here. This is my honest review.
I enjoyed reading this book with my son. Even though it is a board book and he's past that stage, we still enjoyed reading it together.
The pictures are appealing and have children demonstrating the various ways they can say "hello" to someone far away. This book is appropriate for toddlers but could be enjoyed by preschoolers as well.
If you have a loved one who is far away for whatever reason, this book will provide ideas on ways you can keep in touch. After you read it with you child you can also add your own ideas of fun ways of sending love. If you are the one far away it would be a nice gift for a little one in your life.
I received a copy of this book for my honest review from Hachette Book Group.
Such a sweet kids book for a parent or grandparent or aunt, uncle to give to a little one. "Hello From Here" has thick, easy turn pages for little fingers and has a message that says, "no matter where I am I love you." Beautifully and tastefully illustrated, this little book would be the perfect gift for a child whose Mom or Dad is in the military. Well done, Pamela Kennedy and Mackenzie Haley.
Thank you to the publisher for sending me an arc of the book.
This children's book is so wonderful!! This would be great for a baby shower gift, for a home library, or a read aloud in a classroom. Here are all of the ways to tell someone that you love them. From balloons to sending letters, tells everyone that they care. The illustrations were wonderful and so pretty!!
What a fun little board book, with beautiful illustrations! How do you tell someone you love them, when you’re apart? Read “Hello From Here” to children so they will know. The prose flows like poetry, and the illustrations enhance this fun book.
A very nice children’s book. Creative and fun to read. It’s made of thick pages so the little ones can read it again and again. Wonderful message, lovely artwork, and nice rhymes.
“When we’re not together, I wish you were near, so I think of fun ways to say “Hello!” from here,” Pamela Kennedy rhymes at the beginning of her children’s book, Hello from Here.
~ What ~ This twenty-four-page board book with rounded corners targets newborns to children three years old. With no scary scenes, it focuses on remembering someone who loves the young one although they cannot be nearby. Expressive and charming full-color illustrations by Mackenzie Haley grace the pages with an easy-to-read font size.
After a to and from page to fill out, the tale is about a person who cannot be present with the one reading the book so thinks of creative ways to show their love. The four lines per open pages rhyme and include scenes involving cellphone calls when on a walk, sending a letter, writing a message in the sky, giving a note to a dolphin to pass on, shouting on a mountain top, putting a flag on the moon, getting a dinosaur hug, having a pizza with wording, blowing gigantic bubbles, and wishing upon a star. All reinstate how love lasts and does not disappear.
~Why ~ Since we have not seen our eighteen-month granddaughter in over sixteen months due to Covid, this is a timely and needed gift book to give to her when we visit in a couple of weeks. I love the colorful pictures with lots of engaging designs. The idea of having a book to show her that her grandparents love her is ideal.
~ Why Not ~ Those who do not have loved ones who do not live far away may not have any interest in this book. Others may find the two and three-syllable words too hard for beginner readers, but it is geared for younger ones who would have the book read to them.
~ Wish ~ I cannot suggest any changes to this book.
~ Want ~ If you are looking for a charming book for grandparents to give to their out-of-state grandchildren who are toddler age, this is a keeper that will melt your heart.
Thanks to Hachette Book Group, WorthyKids, and the author for this complimentary book that I am under no obligation to review.
