A thrilling family tale of murder and intrigue in Paradise.
Kailua Kona, Hawaii. Retired detective Jessica Kealoha finds herself in the murder trial of her sister Pua and rife with guilt because she's being forced to testify against her sister.
Many in town have already decided Pua's guilt and only see the trial as a formality before they send her to prison for life. Jessica discovers that there is more to the story than meets the eye and must find the evidence that will free her sister before it's too late.
Great read! If you've ever been to Hawaii, you'll feel like your back! The setting and descriptions are so realistic! Many twists and turns in the plot will keep you guessing throughout, chock full of suspense, humor, and some very shady behavior will keep you appropriately glued to this book until the murderer is ultimately revealed. The story also embraces real-life struggles and concerns and how they affect the lives of everyone involved. Overall, a well-written murder mystery that I enjoyed immensely. Good characters keep you riveted and involved from beginning to end, and overall, just hard to put down until you finish. I also recommend the other books in this series, it would be helpful (but not necessary) to read them in order, for a little backstory, but if this is your first book, you'll catch on just fine.
Aloha, I’m J.E. Trent, and I write Hawaii action adventure novels. I lived on the island of Hawaii for twenty-two years. During that time, I’ve met some fascinating characters there that have inspired the stories I write. Follow me on Bookbub. https://www.bookbub.com/profile/j-e-t...

Looking forward to the next Hawaiian adventure! I received an ARC of this book and am providing my honest review, but, I enjoyed it so much I went ahead and purchased the final edited copy.
Death Tide is book 4 in the Hawaii Adventure series, and it keeps the Kona action going. In this book, Jessica’s sister Pua is at the center of the action as she is accused of the murder of her realty business partner. Jessica puts everything aside to help her prove her innocence, while also dealing with the growing dependence of her husband, Sam, on opioids. Many of the wonderful characters return as their lives become richer and more complex. The background of the Big Island of Hawaii never disappoints, and the delicious locations make you want to grab your bathing suit and jump on an airplane. After reading the books, you know all the great places to go. This book has the right blend of action, adventure, and true Hawaiian ohana. It is a pleasure to read.
This is a great book. I was born and raised in Hawai'i, this story is a very accurate portrayal about life in Hawai'i. I was entranced from the beginning of the story until it ended. I read this book in one sitting. It made me homesick. I haven't read the previous books in this series, but I was able to follow it along. I received an ARC of this book and I am happy to leave a review.
This is well written. Fast moving, you will be surprised at the twists and turns. Love Hawaii adventures, he writes so vividly that you are actually in the moving car, sitting in the restaurant. You will want to read the whole series.
Another beautiful book by J.E.Trent, a book that quickly slips away and catches you. As usual a well written book that is worth reading and if you haven't done so I recommend you read the other books by J.E. Trent. Last but not least reading this book you will be catapulted to Hawaii !
Wow!! Death Tide is a fast-moving thriller set in the wonderful Big Island. I love how the author puts the reader in this mystical place where we can see and breathe Hawaii. It has lots of action, suspense, beautiful locations and nonstop twists. Can't wait for the next one in the series!
Excellent read. Finished in a couple of days. One of those books you just want to keep reading. I have recommended this book to several friends, it certainly does not disappoint.
I love these books, each one by JE Trent keeps getting better and better. This may be the best one yet. It is a fast paced, fun read! Great mystery, interesting character development and of course, murder! Read this book, you will not be disappointed.
I love Hawaii. We have been there several times and never ran into things like this. Of course, I never dabbled in real estate when there!!! Jessica really has the hardball thing down. You don’t love someone because he is rich, you love them because they have a good heart and make you laugh. Erica really didn’t believe this. I enjoyed the story and recommend the book.
Just finished the fourth book Death Tide. All in all I enjoyed the books. Liked the character development and action scenes.Easy reads and entertaining
Jessica Kealoha's realtor sister Pua is in a whole heap of trouble, when her narcotics-addicted, shyster business partner, Charles, is murdered - and she's in the frame for it!
Addiction also encroaches on Jessica's private life from another angle, with her husband Sam's near-death experience from prescription drugs.
How can ex-cop Jessica deal with such major issues and still cope with her son, her new PI career, Mr Jiggles the cat - plus a newly-acquired, foul-mouthed mynah bird, (called Pilau) - and still keep her sanity and integrity?
A thrilling family tale of murder, intrigue, drug-dependency, the silent killer cancer and the impact of all these and more, on society and relationships.
J.E.Trent hits the nail on the head with his accurate and engaging descriptions of court cases, NA and AA support for addicts and their families and detailed characters, that together make Death Tide a compelling and relevant modern drama that you simply must not miss!
The main plot of this novel is based upon the real life bogus alert issued to Hawaii for an imminent nuclear attack and the resulting impact on the residents, who thought they were about to die. Because of this, there is a huge confession that will have major ramifications for two sisters and their friends and family. Throughout the book, suspects are alternately charged and cleared, and it’s not until the end that the real murderer is determined. Sam and Jessica’s story is certainly relatable. Addiction is a disease that touches many families. Those of us that have taken the rollercoaster ride involved in loving an addict know the journey all too well. Hawaii plays a major role, and the descriptions of the places and people who inhabit this gorgeous paradise inspire a dream to visit or revisit our 50th state. Both humor and heartache are experienced, and at times the story shifts are a bit abrupt. Overall, I enjoyed it. I would recommend reading the previous books in the series in order to get a better picture of the history of the main characters and their relationships.
When Pau is with her partner at a cafe and a nuclear alert is sent to everyone’s cell phones it comes as a shock. Even more shocking when her partner Charles confesses to embezzling money from her company. When the alert is dismissed and her confess to an even worse crime she is understandably upset. She is then set on a path that will humble her and force her to make changes to her life and lifestyle. Meanwhile her sister Jessica is facing her own battles with her husband that will change their lives forever. I really loved this book. It delves into the more personal lives of the characters. It shows how they react and change to adapt to each other’s personal struggles. But, of course, there is the murder with multiple suspects! I love the setting in Hawaii and the amazing sunsets. You can almost feel the tradewinds blowing! I highly recommend this book and this series!
DEATH. TIDE...J E Trent Pua and Gabbie trying there hand at being PI’s with a camera and trying to catch people in their affairs . They finally deciding it wasn't the work for them. A story of affairs, drugs, blackmail and with a pre nuptial agreement things change deadly. Interesting and good flowing plot, into the life of some people who are rich and have time on their hands. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Sunshine, coffee and murder! Jessica and Pau have lots to deal with in this book. Being accused of murder, real estate rivalry, cheating spouses, drug addiction and hard decisions. A good story, great location and likeable characters. I'll read the rest of the books in this series.
