From Sorelle Amore, the well-known photographer, filmmaker, influencer and savvy business person whose #Blessed Instagram and Advanced Selfie University programs have inspired her millions followers across the globe to up their selfie game and improve their online presence!
Enjoyed this. Really about self-portraiture rather than snappy selfies. The technical information is pretty basic but I enjoyed her take on preparation for desired images and the importance of committing to the process.
I am truly disappointed by this book. As a big fan of Sorelle's photography and youtube channel I probably have set my expectations too high. This book seems to be just a way to give her another stream of income rather than provide readers with an actual value. Overall there were maybe 3 tips that I found useful across the whole book- is it enough to print a book and pollute the planet? Don't think so.
This is a fantastic (and beautiful) book with a lot of helpful tips on posing, technical aspects, and (most importantly) navigating the mindset and creativity that you'll need to employ to figure out how you want your photos to look. The photography and examples in this are stunning! Good-looking photography is important--whether you need it for professional reasons, or just for personal expression! Honestly, any reason is a good enough reason.
It's is nice and easy to read but doesn't have anything groundbreaking she hasn't already said in her videos. I expected a little bit more, especially academic knowledge, but I mean it says in the title it's a selfie handbook, so maybe that's my problem. All in all, it is an inspiring read but a little repetitive and lacks useful information. Like the basic colour wheel would have been so much better instead of another diary-ish story.
Selfie is not just you taking a picture of yourself trying to look cool. It's whenever you're alone in a photo.
As serious professionals, we all want to project a polished image of our best imagined selves. So here are great tips from selfie expert now millionaire Sorelle Amore
Sure, Sorelle is tall, thin, and gorgeous, but that doesn't mean we can't look less fugly with the right angles and poses. I tried her specific strategies and it worked! Now my flabs and frown lines are out of focus. Just skim through the incredible locales for inspiration. I don't have time to watch "Dune" much less pose in a dune.
Once you know how to present your best side, you can delete your cringey posts and replace it with flattering ones. You only need one great shot to use forever until you retire. . . and beyond!
Take Your Selfie Seriously is about the art of taking good selfies. The author, Sorelle Amore, has gained renown for her artsy photos and was featured in several magazines for her work. I know her from her youtube channel, which sometimes brushes against other topics I'm interested in (finance and investing.)
The premise is that you should learn how to take good photos of yourself and that the selfie should be considered a form of art.
Well, I buy it.
Since my online persona has diminished to zero these last five years, I welcome Amore's encouragement. Her book is for the amateur, thus the grand majority of us. She makes it all very unintimidating.
Amore gives little examples about what to do and what not to do. And she spices the book up with pictures by famous artists.
The second half of Amore's book gives the basics of photography: Aperture, ISO, Shutterspeed, Lighting, Composition, Angles, Editing, etc.
It is an easy and short read. The physical format is preferable since the colors that make so much an impact on the viewer don't come out on a Kindle Paperwhite.
Anyone needing encouragement to take their selfie game up a notch or who needs to know it is ok to express themselves artistically would do well to read this book. More valuable for younger readers since selfies will feature more importantly in their love, social, and financial lives.
The content isn't gold, but the positivity and premise are solid.
As an artist, I have always been fascinated with and by portraits and self portraiture, in all forms of expression. I love costumes and playing dress ups and can take an ok photo, though it’s probably more a creative eye that gets me by! I certainly haven’t mastered the selfie, so this little book has plenty of easy, practical tips...now I just have to figure out how to photos of my ageing selfie that I like! 🤪
Super helpful if you are getting into your portraiture game, or like me, you weren’t a fan of being in front of the camera, but are now taking the leap. Glad to know, some of this I was beginning to do naturally, this book just sped up the process. There is a nice little section at the end, that takes you the beginner stuff, if you are new to the art portion of a selfie.
So I know this is a work book with exercises but I read the whole thing in one day because I have wanted to know this information for so long. I'm extremely excited to go back and start actually putting what I've read into practice.
I LOVED this book!!! SO great & interesting!!! You really learn a lot and it's very fun to read! The last page was so deep & philosophical in a way. I'd definitely recommend buying this book!!! So many beautiful pictures inside too!!! It was mesmerizing!
I did enjoy reading through the pages. However, I think because I took her self- photography course, this didn't have as much of an impact as her course. If you have the means and time, I highly recommend going through the self-paced course.
