Continuing the enjoyment of reading the best paranormal cozy series ever! I am so in love with the characters that I just keep coming back to stay in touch with how their lives are progressing, but get a ton of fun by enjoying a mystery along the way. Toss in witches, vampires, knitting and fun friendships along with the mystery and you have great entertainment for hours to come! I can't wait to see what happens to Lucy and the gang next!

More murder and mayhem

Lucy has three more cases to solve along with the members of her vampire knitting club in this box set.

In the first it's Christmas and the knitting club have been busy working on making Christmas stockings and jumpers to sell at the Christmas craft fayre to raise money for charity. She finds the opposite stallholder clinging to life and sets herself the challenge to discover who could possibly want to kill her. With the famous author of a fantasy trilogy who discredited the girls father and a stalker ex-boyfriend Lucy thinks it's going to be easy to work out who but the case isn't as simple as it first appears.

In the second Violet manages to convince Lucy to prepare a love potion for Alice who's beloved boss doesn't seem to notice her. Alice manages to pick the worst moment to give him it and chaos ensues as half the cast of the latest production of Midsummer Night's Dream fall in love with the wrong people. When one of the cast turns up dead it's not clear if the potion caused the death and Lucy's determined to put everything right before anyone else loses their life.

And finally, Violet takes over the position of psychic at the Moreton-under-Wychwood village fête with disasterous results. Rather than giving out happy predictions Violet manages to upset everyone with sad predictions and when dies within minutes the villagers are up in arms. Cries of "Witch!" and "she's cursed us all!" put Violet's life at risk. But there's a bizarre link through a silver watch, bought by the victim from the white elephant stall, to an unsolved murder from 30 years ago and Lucy is not sure that the police are looking in the right direction. Can Lucy solve the crimes before the whole coven are outed?

Fun and light hearted murder mysteries with no bad language. Entertaining and a bit different they are a pleasant read with a twist.

I've enjoyed each book in the series, and this did not disappoint.

Lucy travels to Oxford to visit her grandmother, however, she finds her grandmother's knitting shop closed and her grandmother has passed away, although Lucy was certain she had just seen her grandmother walking down the street. Furthermore, Lucy finds she has inherited the shop and the flat above.

Lucy knows nothing about knitting and isn't certain whether or not to keep the shop. Furthermore, she finds that with the knitting shop she has also inherited a nest of vampires that inhabit the tunnels beneath the shop, and even more disturbing, she finds her grandmother is now a member of the undead. But wait--she also discovers that she is a witch, just as her grandmother had been.

In each book, Lucy encounters a mystery in which she is usually unwillingly pulled into investigating. As she lives and operates the knitting shop, she meets and comes to like the vampires, and unwillingly begins to grow her skills as a witch and continues to struggle with learning to knit, much to the chagrin of the vampires who are all amazing knitters.

These three books contain three totally different mysteries that will keep you guessing until the end. They are lighthearted, but not boring.

Purls and Potions-5* Oh my goodness, this is hilarious. Very attention grabbing and interesting story. Lucy has a very exciting life not to mention her love life/triangle. :) I think the love potion is very....revealing and Lucy is well on her way to being fully-trained in more than one way. Fun to read, very upbeat and full of great, supportive characters.
Fair Isle and Fortunes-5* Thoroughly enjoyed this cozy. Lucy may be a beginner when it comes to her sleuthing and magic but she is still smart when it comes to investigating. I like her because she has a big heart, her antics are hilarious and she is up-front and very compassionate. I love the chemistry between her and Rafe who is a solid rock and always there for her. The mystery plot has many twist and turns and a puzzle that as soon as I thought I have it solved another "but" thought entered my mind, very entertaining and attention grabbing. Love this series, it just keeps getting better.

Overall:
Good, steady entertainment

Stockings and Spells (rating: 3)
Not as engaging as the others. I kept getting sidetracked with other books. Not that anything was wrong with this one, I just found the other books a lot more interesting. My guess is that everything in it was just too easy

Purls and Potions (rating: 4)
Kind of hard to follow with all the Shakespearean parallels, but also really good stuff

Fair Isles and Fortunes (rating: 3)
Loved the Sherlock Holmes reference, but besides that it didn't feel all that inspired

The Vampire Knitting Club series by Nancy Warren is another series that has been collecting dust on my TBR for a while now- but I have finally got my act together (well, somewhat lol) and gotten around to reading it. And I am soooo glad I did, as it turned out to be such an unexpectedly fun read.
One of the reasons I love being on Goodreads is seeing all the book reviews and recommendations that everyone does, and then hunting down the ones that catch my eye. This series would probably never have come to my attention if it hadn’t been for my Goodreads friend, Eliza- so thank you Eliza for your recommendation (in the form of your glowing reviews) which gave me the urge to dive in, even though I didn’t get to them right away- it was such a great series to binge. But one book has now turned into a bit of an addiction lol.
This is quite a long series, so I am going to save myself some time by doing one review for the entire series. So here we go…..
The Vampire Knitting Club is a wonderful paranormal cozy mystery series, with vampires, witches, adventure, action, crime & investigation, witty humour, family, friendship, a small-town setting, dramatic developments, magic, suspense, intrigue, fun, a dash of romance, knitting/knitting group, murder/murder mysteries, whodunnit vibes, danger, secrets, a cat familiar, tangled webs, the supernatural, and a slew of wonderfully quirky characters.
To condense things for the sake of this review, Lucy Swift ‘inherits’ her grandmother’s knitting shop when her grandmother dies…. only grandma is not dead, but is definitely undead. That’s not all she discovers…. so let the adventures begin…
“ …. I run a knitting shop and I can’t knit. I’m a beginning witch who can’t always control her cat, never mind her magic….. Oh, and for some reason, I keep getting involved in murder investigations. Good thing I have my vampire knitters to help sniff out clues.
I really recommend this book/series – especially for those who love a great paranormal cozy mystery.

The series contains…
-Tangles and Treason (Prequel)
-The Vampire Knitting Club (Book #1)
-Stitches and Witches (Book #2)
-Crotchet and Cauldrons (Book #3)
-Stockings and Spells (Book #4)
-Purls and Potions (Book #5)
-Fair Isle and Fortunes (Book #6)
-Lace and Lies (Book #7)
-Bobbles and Broomsticks (Book #8)
-Cats Paws and Curses (Book #8.5)
-Popcorn and Poltergeists (Book #9)
-Garters and Gargoyles (Book #10)
-Diamonds and Daggers (Book #11)
-Herringbones and Hexes (Book #12)
-Ribbing and Runes (Book #13)
-Mosaics and Magic (Book #14)

Can’t wait to explore some of Ms. Warren’s other series now.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Nancy Warren!

This review is for the Audible edition with this ASIN: B09Z7BLVY4, with Sarah Zimmerman as narrator. The writing is marvelous, but Ms. Zimmerman's acting is superb!

This series is so much fun that I can't wait for the next box-set batch of books. As of the middle of the night, I'm already on to books 7-9. It is so much fun it is hard to leave the books and actually go to sleep at night.

Not into vampires, no worries. No biting happens; none of the scary or boring vamps who do interviews. Not conversant in knitting? No problem; no patterns are thrown in the works to get tangled in.

Yet, if you have had some experience with either the undead or yarn, you will feel the author is writing for you personally.

There is a little paranormal romance, but not enough to gum up the works. There is witchy fun despite the cozy murders that keep happening in each book. Regardless of these inabilities, the un-undead, non-knitting heroine will get it figured out.

Now back to my reading/listening fun.

Future prefect?

Who would have thought that telling the truth when telling fortunes could get you into so much trouble; or that helping out with a love potion could produce mayhem?
So much fun!

Fairs and murders

Continuing story of Lucy and her Vampire knitters.
Never a dull moment for her as she tries to fit in to the village and not be a witch.
On to her next adventure.

Good fun

Great ‘yarns’ with some mystery woven in! These books are great for a relaxing read. The characters are interesting enough to keep you engaged and the mysteries complicated enough so that you haven’t worked out who did it half way through the story.

I like these cozy mysteries.
I have to skip the page before each book starts tho, since they rather spoil the first half of it by telling too much! *grumble*

confused

In book one Lucy said she was 27 again in book 2 and 3 but in book 6 she celebrated her 26 birthday it spoilt my enjoyment of the books that her age was not consistent

I love this series. There are some continuity errors between this set of books and the first 3 but the writing is still engaging, easy to read and there's plenty of mystery to drive the story forward.
