Trapline Chatter: Life and Love with 'Last Alaskan' Bob Harte

Rate this book
A story of love, loss, family and discovery — a story of life on a trapline in the Far North. “Bob Harte was well-known to those of us in the trapping community long before he became an international celebrity as a star of the Last Alaskans TV program. Bob was born to live a remote lifestyle and found his slice of heaven in the remote region of northeast Alaska. Nancy's book offers a perspective on their life together in the wilderness. Readers will gain a new understanding of what it's like to live in one of the most isolated places on earth. The lifestyle is simple and challenging, but very rewarding.” — Randy Zarnke – President of the Alaska Trappers Association

After watching The Last Alaskans and longing to live a simpler life, I found this gem of a book.
Such an honest look into Bob and Nancy’s lives in Alaska and on the trap line. It was a fascinating insight into how to live in the wilderness and everything that comes with it.
I can’t wait to read Nancy’s next instalment.

What a great recollection of her time with Bob in Alaska, written simply yet very descriptive. It was easy for me to connect with the experience. I tend to romanticize "living in the bush", everything will be fine and dandy, peaches and cream. Along with the romantic, she includes the tragedy. Can't beat the story told by one who actually experienced it, and refrained from embellishment. I cannot wait for her sequel, "The Rest of the Story". I'm ready for it. Most of all, I appreciate Nancy for telling it like it is, opening up and being vulnerable. Much Love to you Nancy! May you be Well and Happy :)

Anyone who has watched Last Alaskans should read

Nancy’s story is such an important part of Bob’s story. Nancy is an incredible woman. She was every bit as tough and determined as any trapper in the ANWR. If you loved the series you will love this book.

This is the back story of Bon Hart and his family as told by his wife Nancy. The Last Alaskan show left me wanting to learn more about these great people.

I was somewhat disappointed as I thought this book would be more about Bob and his life.

I love the story of Bob. I admire his drive to do what he wanted. However, the story is told from Nancy's perspective. It is easy to get the feeling that she would have never been in the picture if Bob hadn't become famous from the TV series. She left him and only came back to make money off of his story. Or at least that's how I see it. Regardless, this is one of my top three books to read.
