Once upon a time she’d been an intern.
Once upon a time he’d been a rookie.

Then he’d broken her heart. Well, not just broken it. He’d torn it to shreds. Shattered it. Freaking nuked it.

But now Charlotte was older. Leaner. Meaner. Okay, so the last wasn’t really true, but she’d certainly spent the eight years since her fling with one Logan Walker—star defenseman and that former rookie—building fortified walls around her heart at the same rate she built her career.

She was great at building. Great at winning. So much so that she’d become the new GM for the Gold—a GM who was quite possibly going insane because she’d decided to bring Logan to the team. Her heart aside, the team needed his skills to win, needed him to plug a hole in the roster.

What she didn’t need?

Logan deciding that the hole he wanted to plug was the one he’d created in her heart all those years before.

I enjoy reading Elise Faber for numerous reasons. That should be no surprise to anyone. She is consistent, as far as I have read, with her style and voice. That’s how she can get me to read a story of hers on one sitting lol Charging was no different on all fronts.

This is the 10th book in this series and although I didn’t find any reason why someone could not read this story without having read the rest of the team’s stories, it doesn’t mean you should not start from the beginning. The first book of this series that I read was the fifth but at the time, I immediately jumped back, and binge read the books because this is a team and obviously, the girl gets the guy so that’s not any kind of spoiler, but things that happen during their individual journeys could be revealed in books and those are spoilers. Wow, that turned out longer than expected LOL

Charlotte and Logan’s story had me all up in my feelings and some of them weren’t good. I got way frustrated with the back and forth because it honestly dragged on too long. Not my story to tell, but #JesusSaveMe from adults acting all kinds of mad-ridiculous. Seriously. That’s a peeve for me. It’s why I rarely dive into the world of New Adult. Those kids drive me bananas, but at least I expect them too lol it comes with the territory. I can’t do it with grown people. It gets my eyes rolling and no one wants that. Aside from that small thing, I found every aspect of the story chosen well by the author.

Go forth and enjoy a great sports romance story about how a GM and a player get their second chance to get it right :)

Charging is book 10 in the Gold Hockey series by Elise Faber. This is Charlotte and Logan's story. It can be read as a standalone book. This is a sweet 2nd chance romance where the main characters are alittle older and are able to fix what broke them up the first time, that is, if they don't allow it to happen again. It's a bit of a bumpy road but it is a good read and it's great to see previous characters from other books make appearances in the book. I liked Logan and Charlotte. It was a good story that's slowburn plus also is 2nd chance romance.

My Rating: 4.3 stars ********

I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the 9th book in the series and it easily stands alone. I have read a few books in the series but not all of them and I was not lost at all. It stars Char who is the GM of the hockey team and a player , Logan. Years before when they were just starting out she was the intern and he was the rookie for a different team. He dumped her in a very painful way and now that she has achieved her dreams he wants to resurrect their romance.

I had one issue with this story and that was I like to picture characters in my head and so descriptions are really important when reading a story. At one point Char calls herself a woman of color but later she also is described as a red head and with a Scottish relative in her family tree. I was picturing her one way and then had to change the way I saw her. This is a pet peeve of mine and it didn't detract from the romance of the story.

This story is really about Logan and Char reconnecting. He says he loves her very early on and that he did what he did to give Char her dream. This story is him getting to know her again and showing her how he deserves a chance. It was very sweet and a romantic story with no real obstacles except for their hearts.

Long ago when she was young, Charlotte was an intern and met the love of her life, Logan. But he broke her heart when he broke up with her then took up with woman after woman and she had to watch it all play out in the tabloids. She persevered though, and made a success of her life. Now she's the GM of the Gold Hockey team. The GM who had to trade for the love of her life because the team needs him. But she's got walls around her heart, the heart Logan so painfully broke.

Logan made the choice back then to protect Char from ruining her life by leaving her internship to follow him and allow him his dreams. Instead of asking her and them making the decision together, he made it unilaterally, and lost her, or more accurately, pushed her away. Now years later, he's back in her world and he's determined to get the second chance he's never stopped wanting since the minute he pushed her away. Will Char allow him back into her heart, or has he hurt her too badly for her to give him that second chance at love?

The push and pull, the will she let him back in was sometimes painful, but I loved Charlotte and Logan's second chance story. It's emotional and gave me all the feels, it's seriously sexy, and I can't think of anyone who deserved a second chance at love more than these two lovable characters.

4 Star review of Charging (Gold Hockey #10) by Elise Faber

Elise Faber is a relatively new author to me and Charging is the first book I have read in the Gold Hockey series. I do feel that I may have enjoyed this book more if I had read some, if not all of the previous books in the series but having said that I wasn’t lost reading Charging.

This is Charlotte (Char) Harris and Logan Walker’s second chance at love story and one I enjoyed. Both have been focused on their careers and yet there is something missing in their lives. Could it be because they let one another get away? I enjoyed Ms. Faber’s writing style and found Charging to be well written.

Both these characters frustrated me at times; the push and pull in their relationships got a little too much on occasion. However, overall I enjoyed the story and when time permits I will look at the previous books in the series.
Will Char listen to what Logan has to say about their breakup? Will she give him a second chance? Can they come to terms with the past and in doing so move on and have a future together? One click and find out.

Char didn’t become the GM of a professional hockey team by being unable to make the difficult decisions. So if her team needs the best player available and if he happens to be the same man who broke her heart years earlier so be it. She has built a wall around her heart and will keep their relationship strictly professional.

Although it was difficult for both of them Logan knew that he did the right thing ending their relationship even if he didn’t handle it in the best way. He wants a second chance and is determined to show her that it now their time.

Their journey wasn’t without its challenges however there is no doubting that Char and Logan belong together and it proves that sometimes life has a bigger plan even if you can’t see it at the time.

Slow burn romance equals fast paced heartache. Char and Logan will put emotions through the wringer. Charging is a second chance romance that pull at the heart even as it tempts the senses. Faber is good at stirring up feelings. From frustrating to heartbreaking, these people pack quite the punch. Yet they also leave a lasting impression.

This is the 10th book in this awesome series and each one just seems to get better and better. This is Logan and Charlotte’s journey. After a messy breakup 8-year previously, which left them both broken hearted, they have both been focused on their careers, and Logan is one of the top defensemen as a professional hockey player, while Char has reached the top of her career in a man’s world and has been hired as GM of a hockey team. Logan just wants to explain the reason for their breakup, but Char makes him work for it. Can these two finally move on together? This is a beautifully written 2nd chance poignant love story which pulls at the heartstrings and is an entertaining and steamy read. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend for all readers.

Charlotte and Logan both had strong spirits, stubbornness and lofty goals. Broken apart at the beginning of their paths to meet their life goals, they both found what they were looking for - mostly. Both characters, while accomplished in their careers, find themselves missing out on love, family and dreaming of what could have been.
I love that the author doesn't force the characters back right way in typical HEA fashion. The H has to WORK for it. Their break was messy, and the author puts both characters back in a beautifully written story.
While this is a series, I have not read the previous ones. While this can be read as a standalone, I wish I'd read the previous stories so I understood some of the plot better. I will be going back to read the previous books in this series. Great read.

First of all I'm gonna admit I had a bit of a hard time with this story. Please don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it. The first part was great and the end was wonderful. However, my mind started wondering the more Charlotte started talking about being a strong individual female who could take care of herself and didn't need a man doing things for her. That's wonderful and all but this is a romance novel. I want fantasy, fairy tale. I don't want reality. I want swoon. I want men and/or women taking care of the person they love and vise versa. Who cares who pays for dinner. Who cares who does what for each other. Just let me get out of my head so I can swoon and dream.

With that said I had a love hate relationship with both Charlotte and Logan. I loved how he came barreling back into her life. I loved how he was trying to fix things with her. But I also didn't like how one minute he was pushy and the next he was scared to take the next step. Then with Charlotte I loved how headstrong she was. But I also didn't like how she always seemed to push him aside and would get angry before hearing what he had to say.

I was so excited for this book and loved that these two got their HEA. However the need for being "politically correct" right now lessened that joy. Chivalry isn't dead it's just misplaced and often forgotten.

Elise Faber prevails with Charging (Gold Hockey # 10). Gold Hockey General Manager, Charlotte Harris and defenseman Logan Walker have a past. Now that the season is over, Logan is set out to win Charlotte back. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult readers.

Logan is a good guy. He broke up with Charlotte because he did not want her to sacrifice her career because of him. His intentions were good, but he did not let Charlotte decide for herself. Charlotte is an impressive heroine. She has achieved great things and is ambitious. Logan broke her heart, and she needs to decide if she is going to give him a second chance.

Logan and Charlotte dated at the beginning of their careers; It is now eight years later. They have both matured a lot since they dated. I like how well they know each other despite the time spent apart. They never stopped loving each other. Both suffered because of their breakup. The story was believable and heartfelt. It is a great addition to the Gold Hockey series. It was easy to follow and entertaining. The story had a wonderful ending. I recommend this book to people who enjoy sports romances. Charging is an emotional and beautiful story about second chances, sexy hockey players and learning to trust again.

Logan and Charlotte first met when he was a rookie hockey player and she was a young intern. Charlotte fell in love with Logan but unfortunately, he broke her heart. Now, they are brought together again for the first time in eight years.

Charlotte is now the General Manager of the Gold hockey team. She is the first and only black female GM in the league, so she holds herself to a higher standard and works hard to try to prove herself. The Gold team is unlike any other team; they have many women in positions men have usually held.

Logan has been playing hockey with the Gold for a year. Charlotte agreed to bring him on the team because he was the best fit, but she tries to keep her heart and feelings for him buried. Logan is a good guy who tried to do what he felt was the right thing. Now, he is trying to get the girl back.

I loved Logan and how hard he tries to win back Charlotte. Logan and Charlotte do a slow dance of back and forth. They care about each other, but Charlotte is afraid to trust Logan again and Logan isn’t sure how to make her understand how much he cares.

Charlotte has been the General Manager of the Gold for a full season now - and she has done a fine job keeping her professionalism with Logan, despite the fact that he shattered her heart eight years prior, the last time they were working for the same team. But now that the season is over, Logan is ready to win back the heart of the love of his life.

Charging is a sweet second chance romance featuring two souls that found their other halves too young. When Logan was traded as a rookie, he broke all ties with Char. So burned by the rejection, she put her relationships on the back burner and focused on her career. Logan definitely has a lot of explaining, and eating crow .. to get Char to even listen to his story.

It's easy to root for this couple - Logan treats Charlotte like a queen, and even though she's a strong, independent woman, she's beginning to realize how much she closed herself off from all relationships after he left, and she's been missing out on a lot.

As Logan searches for a way back into her heart, Char begins to open herself up to the Gold family. I love the dynamic that Faber has created with this team, and Logan and Charlotte fit right in. Definitely a great addition to the ever expanding family of the San Francisco Gold.

What do you do when your team needs a strong defenseman and you're the GM? You go out and get the best one there is. Big, strong, fast and ferociously talented. Char is top notch at being professional. She's built walls around herself to keep her insulated, it's not easy being a woman in a man's world, fierce, but approachable, it's a fine line to walk. I like when we finally see the cracks in her composure, a peek into what she finally realizes she's missing and how she internalizes whether or not she's ready to reach for it. No matter the old wounds that still cut deep.
Logan is one of the best there in on the ice, a real team kind of guy. Steps up on the ice and off. Now if he can just figure out how to get what he wants more than anything. Past mistakes make it a challenge, one he's decided he's up for. Will his efforts be all for naught or will he keep his eye on the prize and do whatever it takes?
This is the first book of the series I've read, followed along just fine, still may go back and read some of the others, I'll admit, I'm curious now.

Charlotte is the poster girl for "once bitten, twice shy". Ever since her heart was broken 8 years ago, she's been reluctant to form any sort of attachment to another human being. Even her family has been frozen out. But she's managed to live life so far. Then Logan Walker reappears in her life, and it becomes harder for Charlotte to pretend that everything is still okay in her life.

Logan knows that he hurt Charlotte badly. After biding his time, he dives headfirst into his bid to earn her love, trust and forgiveness. But the issues that plagued him eight years ago haven't disappeared. And as he and Char reconnect, they might cause more harm than good.

This was a good slow-burn, second chance romance. Logan & Charlotte hadn't fallen out of love despite the pain, time and distance. This gave their story an added layer of reality. Letting go of the past and making a conscious effort to ensure that it didn't taint their future was something they both needed to work on.

I enjoyed this book and recommend it. This series is really great.

This is the first book I have read by Elise Faber and that means I’m prove Charging can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone, that being said I will be looking to play catch up with the Gold Hockey Series as soon as time permits and I will certainly be checking out other works by this author.
This is Logan Walker and Charlotte ( Char) Harris’s second chance romance, Logan and Char messed up years ago when they dated and now it’s Logan’s change at explaining what happened back then. A couple both focused on their careers get a second change at love but will the past be too much of an hurdle to jump or will fate succeed in making Char take a leap of faith, hopping Logan will catch her...
If you love second chance romance or sports romances this book should define on your radar, it has characters you will love and a story that will captivate and draw you in from the first page to the last line and I high recommend you one click this gem.

I’ve read several books in Elise Faber’s Gold Hockey series. This one was much less hockey, and more relationship angst on multiple fronts. Charlotte (Char) has focused on work in the 8 years since Logan broke her heart. She’s built up walls around her heart and has isolated herself from those around her. Logan has suffered from doing what he felt was the right thing in breaking up with Char 8 rears ago, but now that the season is over for the Gold he feels like he can start to rebuild the trust he broke.

This book devolved so much more into their attempts to rebuild their relationship after Logan explains what he did and why. This had less interaction with the characters from previous books than what is typical from past books in the series. While I enjoyed the book, it wasn’t as easy a read as most of the Gold Hockey series.

I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Charging is Book 10 of Elise Faber’s Gold Hockey series and is one helluva sexy second chance romance read. Charlotte has made history in the league by being the first black woman to hold the position of GM. Strong willed, determined and beautiful, she is all those things and more. Logan is an uber talented player. His dedication and strong work ethic make him an integral part of the team.
Charlotte and Logan were once an item. He was the rookie, she was the intern. Their relationship did not last long but was nevertheless intense. Having realized that he would only ever stand in her way, Logan walked away. Their breakup was painful for both of them, more so for Charlotte who was devastated. Fast forward almost a decade and they are once again working together. This time Logan is determined to win back the woman he never stopped loving.I absolutely loved watching Logan work his sexy hockey butt off to win back his woman. It made for a sexy read. TBR Charging and Enjoy!

I love a good grovel and apology!

Logan Walker had always regretted breaking up with Charlotte Harris, but he knew she would never reach her dream if she quit her internship to follow him in his professional hockey career. Logan played for the San Francisco Gold and when she was hired as the new general manager, he knew that he could finally explain why he broke up with her because she knew his family and she would hopefully forgive him and give him another chance.

Charging is a second chance romance, but I love Logan trying to grovel and apologize to get Charlotte to talk to him other than as one of her players. The entire Gold Hockey Series takes the usual sports romance and turns it upside down with people in very unexpected positions that starts with the first book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Charging is book 10 in the Gold Hockey series, as I have not kept up with every book I was worried I would feel like I was missing something but this book is a standalone with previously characters popping in and out through out.

Charlotte has reached her goal, she is at the top of career and being a female in her position she is always giving 110%, her love life has suffered and when she recruited Logan, the one that broke her heart she knew it wasn’t going to be easy because all those feeling she through she locked away are right there front and centre!
Logan broke his own heart that day, he wanted everything for her but letting her go was the best; he now wants her back and he will stop at nothing to make her his.

I personally enjoyed this story, Logan hooked me in from the moment he gave her the first present. Faber has again pulled me in and left me wanting more.

The higher the walls the more you need to tear them down. Charlotte has extremely well saved feelings because Logan hurt her much. Logan needs to do a lot of work to win her back. I loved how the two of them worked out the past, and tried to move forward. It's hard for Charlotte to succeed in a man's world and I understand Logan's way to deal with it in the past. Charlotte is absolute 100 percent working - obsessed, and it needs much time to get her out of her shell. Logan is a strong character and together both are supporting each other.
I enjoyed this book a lot there were fewer characters from the team and more feelings to go through but it's a well written heartwarming book in the Gold Series.

I enjoyed this story of a reunion/second chance at love. Charlotte was a strong woman, determined to succeed in a man's world, though her heart was missing something. Logan was actually a sweet man. He hid his guilt and hurt, and bulldozed his way back into Charlotte's life. I loved how the two of them worked out the past, accepted the reasons for it, and moved forward. I had tears each time they supported each other, were there for each other. This was my first in the world of Gold Hockey, and I look forward to reading more.

I received a copy of this story through Elle Wood Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.

Loved it

Charlotte is the GM for the Gold. She has broken more barriers than most in the league but the one barrier that she can't overcome is her broke heart.

Logan, Charlotte's first love and current defenseman on the Gold. Logan and Charlotte were together years ago when both were coming into the league. Logan knew he couldn't stand in the way of her dreams so he ends things with her so she can be everything she was meant to be.. But now he is on her team and more determined than ever to win her back.

Watching them redevelop a friendship and then a love, Charlotte being there for Logan just as much as Logan is there for Charlotte. Will this second chance survive?

Another book in the Gold hockey series and this time we get to know Charlotte and Logan. Char is the GM of
The team and has made little time for love since her heart was broken years ago and she turned her focus on her career. Logan was brought to the Gold this season as a veteran player that could help the Gold win the cup and although him and Char have a history (remember that heartbreak?), they have kept Their distance throughout the season. After the playoffs, all bets are off and Logan begins his pursuit of Char. These two have history and a love that never quite went away so it’s an interesting journey to watch them open up and rediscover what the can be together.

This is a wonderful second chance romance about Logan and Charlotte. When Logan comes to the Gold hockey team, the General Manager is Charlotte Harris, the woman he left eight years before, breaking her heart. Charlotte is not happy to see Logan on her team, but he's a good player so she will suck it up and work with him. But as their season ends, Logan is determined to win Charlotte back and if he has to bare his soul to do it, then that's what he'll do. As Logan begins to share his reasons for leaving all those years ago, Charlotte begins to soften towards him. This story was light, enjoyable and great escapism to curl up to.

I've really grown to enjoy the novels by Elise Faber. Charging is the latest in her Gold Hockey series and it's book 10. This might be a bit daunting if you haven't read any of the others but don't worry - I've only read one other in the series (Centered book 9) but had no problem following the story. It's very much the story of Charlotte and Logan. This couple have history that makes for a very readable story with drama and conflict and misunderstandings and hurt feelings. It did take me a bit to warm up to Char as she's very much a hard-headed businesswoman but once the two of them started communicating, my enjoyment grew very quickly.

This book in the Gold Hockey series features Charlotte (GM of the Gold) and defenseman Logan. I've read about half the books in the series and really didn't have a difficult time keeping characters straight. I felt the story had the perfect amount of angst, too much and it takes away from the story. There was resolve for both Char and Logan, both of whom had outside conflicts with family. There wasn't really any hockey here, so if that's what you're looking for, this book starts right at the end of hockey season. Overall, I liked the story. The pacing and flow felt right for a second chance relationship. I'll be reading the rest of the series.

Into the future!

As the general manager of Gold Hockey Charlotte, a young black woman is in a role that is dominated by men. She has worked her way up and forsaken other dreams in order to conquer this one. Having been cast aside years earlier by a man she thought was her true love. When Logan, steps back into her life and into her work their close proximity reminds them of the past. Can they overcome the break up to find a way forward? Are the feelings still there?
This book was one of redemption and a climb to forever. It had heartache and betrayal but also understanding and hope. A great read by Elise that had me hooked

Book no 10 of the Gold Hockey Series. It’s standalone but as the previous 9 are great as well go for them before 😉

It’s a great second chance sports romance around The Gold’s a SF Hockey Team. Char and Logan met when Logan started his career and Char was an intern at his hockey team. Logan got traded and brook it off.

Char had been heartbroken and put her whole energy into her work.... ending as The Golds GM hiring Logan. I love the way they worked out their past together and how close they are to their families.

Getting to read about the previous characters was great. Especially about Rebecca;). So mich in love with all of them.

Every book I read by Elise I'm turning into a bigger fan. Her way of writing speaks to me and I absolutely love it.

This second chance was filled with hidden hurts and trying to find the way to repair them and to find the HEA both of them deserved. It gave me hope that there is always a way for love to prevail. I loved the slow burn even though it was driving me mental. But since they managed to work it all out, I'm OK now.
