Horoscopes always seemed a bit woo-woo to me, but I don't know how else to explain why it feels like the cosmic universe is pushing me in the direction of the mysterious North Easton, who miraculously comes into my life at just the right time. We’re nothing alike, but for the first time since my mom passed away, life is finally fun again thanks to him.
Even though we just met, it would be stupid to run away from love when all signs point to him being the one, right?
North Easton
I’ve always been a lust at first sight kind of a guy, but Elias makes me rethink everything I know about love. It seems like our romance was written in the stars, especially since his horoscope predicted I would become the greatest love of his life.
There’s just one tiny problem: he doesn't know that I actually write the horoscopes he believes brought us together. Do I tell him the truth or let him keep being a believer?
Love Directions is the fifth book in the Good Bad Idea series. This novel features a love at first sight, mistaken identity, opposites attract romance. Full of cute sweetness and sexy fun, every story ends with a satisfying HEA and no cliffhangers. Each book can be read as a standalone or as part of the series in order.
A.F. Zoelle loves spicing up her angst with some fiery heat. Her books are a dramatic wild ride, but there’s always a guaranteed happily ever after. She embraces the philosophy of “the more the merrier” when it comes to her passionate characters finding their perfect partners. But sometimes she’s in the mood for something more light-hearted. If you are too, check out her Ariella Zoelle books.
I was kind of irritated that the couple found each other at 26% and decided after one dinner to be boyfriends. The whole story was nice but I felt like nothing really happened. Also Elias kept talking about his Exboyfriend ALL THE TIME during every activity. North was an interesting character which was not really developed. There could have been more of him and his issues.
Yay! Elias gets his HEA after an awful previous relationship that we hear about in book 4 of the series. He is so sweet and easily lovable, proven by how quickly North falls for him. It's also so lovely how he is rebuilding the relationship with his father after the loss of his mother who he was extremely close to. Feelings are very quick to develop on for both Elias and North but it feels really natural between them even though this is North's first proper relationship and Elias is not long out of an abusive relationship. North is so caring and surprises himself as it's not something he's been interested in before. This book is filled with instalove, hurt/comfort and is low angst as well as having brilliant friends and family who are so fun, loving and supportive of each other. I love how Elias' mum pops up through the story, in her own way initiating their romance and giving little love notes and a sense of support initially just to Elias but welcomes North to the family. Another fantastic story in this series that I am seriously loving and highly recommend. It's a good time as well for such a happy romance. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
This had potential but was VERY disappointing. First, how is there not a content warning for constant discussion of verbal/emotional and sexual abuse? They literally never stop talking about it, even during intimate scenes. Maybe that's realistic but I don't necessarily want to read about it, especially when it comes as a surprise.
Second, they get together immediately and there's not really any development of the relationship. Character-wise, Elias is the only one who really gets fleshed out. We don't really get much of North's inner journey from promiscuous to practically proposing overnight.
Third, the writing and editing was sloppy and full of errors.
Love this Good Bad Idea series by A.F.Zoelle, it just keeps getting better and better. While each is a standalone, it is fun to find out what some of the guys from previous books are up to also. It's Elias's turn to find his happy and North is just the right guy to help him, but it will take some work to find that forever they both have been searching for.

I needed this book. I have been having a hard time getting into books lately and this one sucked me in and didn't let go! This is an insta-love story, sometimes those stories don't work but this one was awesome! Elias and North are so different but work so well together. I loved the dual point of view because I felt like I really got to know each of them. This book picked me up and was an enjoyable read, highly recommend.
I stumbled across Ariella Zoelle's books on K.M. Neuhold's Facebook fanpage. She promises sweet, fluff, low/no angst, lots of humor, and no slow burn. This is her Good Bad Idea series (which kicks off her Sunnyside universe). The fifth book is titled "Love Directions." ["Elias Forthwright Horoscopes always seemed a bit woo-woo to me, but I don't know how else to explain why it feels like the cosmic universe is pushing me in the direction of the mysterious North Easton, who miraculously comes into my life at just the right time. Do I tell him the truth or let him keep being a believer?"] Elias deserves all of the love after being with AssholeJosh (yes, that’s his full and legal name), and I’m so happy that he found it with North. And I'm also going to give this one trigger warnings, because AssholeJosh was more of an asshole than I even imagined (as well Elias's other ex), but North went ABOVE and BEYOND with his consent and reassurances and kindness (he was fucking amazing--consent is sexy y'all).
And Elias's mom with the horoscope and the birthday present and the "when. you mean your future forever" card and GOD, make me ugly cry, why don't you! D: The ooky spooky on this was chilling (but in a beautiful and loved-not-matter-what kind of way). You seriously just have to read it to understand.
Trigger Warnings: abusive ex, abusive relationship, domestic abuse is more than just violence, degradation (and not the kinky, consensual kind), manipulation, lying, consent issues surround sex and prep and mutual satisfaction and fuck AssholeJosh, and more
If you don’t enjoy insta-love, insta-connections, and magical love matches, then this is not the book for you. However, if you’re open to it, this book may just make you into a believer. As for me, I adore insta-love stories. In fact, I’m living proof they really do happen. So, bring it! I’m ready!
This book was an utter delight, from the moment it started to the epilogue. There’s even a bonus epilogue! I cannot decide what part I loved most, or who was my favorite character. I loved it all. In fact, I wanna read it again, and again...
Elias is struggling. He lost his mom to cancer earlier in the year, and recently ended an abusive relationship, and he’s also working on building a closer relationship with his dad. Elias’ ex, Josh, did a number on him—as did his previous ex. Josh deserves bad, bad things to befall him. It was heartwarming to see Elias gain confidence, and find joy in a healthy relationship. He deserves the world, and I couldn’t have produced a better person for him than North.
North may be 22, and he may have a long history of meaningless sex, but that all changed when he met Elias. Underneath North’s exterior, lies a huge heart. I loved how caring, patient, gentle, and kind he was with Elias. He brought out the best in Elias, and vice versa.
Watching their relationship grow was a great way to spend my time. I only wish life allowed me to read this in one sitting, because it would be so easy to do. The storyline was very captivating, as were the side characters.
It was fun getting a peek at previous characters, and I loved how they were connected to our main characters. North’s family was a hoot! I wanted to spend more time with them! I felt like the characters were all well thought out and provided an added layer of fun to the story. It gave us a deeper look into Elias’ and North’s lives.
I really, really enjoyed this addition to the series. It was well written, and such a great read. It can be read as a stand-alone, but it will make you want to read the others, so be warned. Also, while it gives you plenty of details to know what happened, some of the events discussed happened in a previous book. So, there is merit to reading them in order, but it’s not a requirement.

I started this series in the middle, with Love Fool, and caught glimpses of Elias there. Going into this story, I wanted so badly for him to have a HEA—after what happened to him in Love Fool. I was happy to see him get that and so much more here. That said, I would caution anyone who doesn't like insta-connection (possibly insta-love), and a bit of potential ghostly interference, to pass this one by.
Elias has had a rough year. He lost his beloved mother, and just got out of an awful, abusive relationship with the help of new friends. When he meets North, he takes an uncharacteristic chance and gets to know North. These two men are very different in how they view relationships. North finds himself interested in more than a one off for once, and Elias finds himself opening up to North when he is not even sure he wants to risk being in another relationship.
Elias was a gentle soul, and I really hated everything his ex-boyfriends did to him. I was happy to see him give North a chance, and that North took that trust and delivered everything one could hope for to help Elias. North did his best to show Elias how much he cared and that what Elias has experienced previously was not normal, and not his fault. I loved the patience that North had with Elias. I liked seeing Elias grow closer to his dad and find a new wonderful family with North, his mom, and his sister. The humor and the craziness of North, and his family, was as unexpected as it was a lot of fun. I would have loved to have met Elias's mother, but the correspondence she left for Elias was heartfelt and fun.
I suspect I know who is next in the series and I can't wait to see how their story plays out. I need to make time to read the earlier books in this series soon.

If you are in need of a sweet, insta-love story to read with ALL the steam, then Love Directions will be just the thing. You will be able to immerse yourself in Elias and North's love story without alot of angst to slow you down. One of the things this author does so well is to setup a story that delivers all the warm and fuzzy feelings romance readers look for when reading. But as a result, it takes me awhile to read these Good Bad Idea books because I keep re-reading paragraphs to savor the words to feel all the feels before I can turn the page.
Elias has some past issues to work through due to bad ex-boyfriends that North is surprisingly wonderful to help him with. I say "surprisingly" because North is a bit younger in years than Elias, but has a LOT more experience with men since he has spent his time in college partaking in any — and most all —hookups available to him. He didn't think that love was what he was particularly looking for, even though deep down, of course, he was. There are layers here that we get to uncover...... and swoon over.
There are a few visits from previous characters in past books that add to the story. However, readers do not have to read all the prior books before this one. It can easily work as a stand-alone (although the previous books are just as charming and worth putting on your reading list). Love Directions also contains some wonderful familial moments that are worth their weight in gold in the heartfelt category. I had smiles, and goosebumps, throughout the entire journey.
I cannot wait for more in the Good Bad Idea series because this world we live in could use more love in it and Zoelle delivers that on all fronts, page after page.
AF Zoelle's Love Directions is a great romance. The fifth book in the Good Bad Idea series, it's a perfect addition to the fun.
North and Elias' love story is one of insta-love, with a connection that is intense and all consuming. They are two men who weren't looking for love and really didn't want it. Until it hit them in the face.
North is an author with a side gig, which leads to some tension. His family is the absolute best and they alone are worth the read. He has a quirky mom, a talking cat, and an adorable family.
Elias meanwhile is scared off from relationships after his ex. I was so mad and disgusted with Elias' exes, but delighted with the way North handles him. And then there's the emotional and loving letters from Elias' mom, which will just gut you.
Their story is one of opposites, with one being an extrovert and the other an introvert.
Written in alternating 1st person pov, the author fully pulls us into the emotions and quirkiness of this story. It's full of intrigue and memorable moments, as well as families that are out of this world. Seriously, you will love every second of their family moments.
Love Directions is sweet, sweet, sweet. AF Zoelle delights with this delightful tale of two men who are meant to be. It's tough to top this one. Just read it.
I adore AF Zoelle’s books. This whole series is such a great escape and the characters are so much fun. If you are looking for some amazing good feels and a nice little read with lots of love and happiness, look no further. They are low angst stories with happily ever afters and can be read without reading the rest of the series. Having read the other books in the Good Idea, Bad Idea series just gives you background information as each book centers on a different couple. North’s family is a hoot and I would love to be around people like this all the time. Elias was so pitiful in the previous book, Love Fool, being taken such advantage of by Josh so it was great to see him get his chance to heal and shine. The family he meets through North are zany and fun and help him begin to live again despite missing his mother and her “ooky spooky” ways. This book also shows how it is so much better to forgive those who have failed us and move forward instead of living in the past. It would have been so easy for Elias to remain bitter and angry towards his dad, but they both work on being father and son again now that his mother is gone. I loved this book and can’t wait to read the next one!
This was such an adorable and fun story. Even my TTS, Stuart, agrees with me. 😁
I loved the creativity the author used to bring the MCs together in this one. It was a bit more “the stars have aligned,” and mom’s working from the great beyond, even though this was not a supernatural book. There was even a cat that talked, and wore crowns, and who may have believed himself to be a dog, even though they still sashayed like a cat. Twins named North and West, but not North and South because their mom, “wanted them to remain close through life and not be polar opposites.”
Friends from past books in the “Good, Bad Idea Series,” pop up here and there making the story that much more fun. I have adored this series since the first book came out, and I have not read one I have not fallen head over heels for yet! I loved the direction Zoelle went with this, taking the grief process and giving a sweet uplifting story of hope and happiness to a topic that is sometimes tough to write about. So far, my favorite story in the series.💖
The next book is coming in January 2021!!! Woohoo!!!!
Each book of this series that I read I swear that there is no way that the next book will be better. And then the author makes me eat my words. Every time. I have read this series since Bet on Love where I fell in love with Rhys and Luci. Then as more romance and HEAs were added, I found myself immersed in this world and wishing I could meet the characters on the pages.
This book has topped all the others. The relationship between Elias and North is so beautiful. To see North’s ability to reprogram all the negative thoughts in Elias’s head and transform them from pain to pleasure, hurt to love, is heartwarming. The addition of North’s wacky family and the ooky spookiness of the intuition of Elias’s mother just added a Cherry or two on top of the sundae. I am on pins and needles waiting for the next to see if the author can once again prove me wrong. This review is an honest and unbiased reflection of my thoughts after reading an advanced readers copy of the book. I want to mention that I did also purchase a copy for my personal library.

So I just finished this book and I'm over here blubbering like a fool. I do love a good happy ending. I will admit that there were some moments with Elias that made me cry for all that he has gone through. This book is everything that you could want in a romance. North and Elias will just melt your heart with how perfect they are together. Elias' mom Genevieve is clearly helping out her son in her own special way, even if it's from the other side. It will take all of the love that he can get to help him to heal his broken spirit. When you first meet North you have no idea what kind of a guy he is capable of being. He turns out to be so much more than his first impression. I love how he was so patient and loving with Elias, and he showed him what a true loving relationship was like. I think they are the perfect balance for each other. Such a beautiful story! Now I have to go read the rest of the series because I have to know everyone else's story. Happy reading! I did receive a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review.
This is definitely an instalove story, Elias and North fell in love almost at first sight. And yes, I do believe that some people are able to just know upon first meeting that they have found someone special. North was exactly what Elias needed in his life. To be completely honest, Elias also needs a really good therapist in his life as well. He has some demons he needs help battling, and could really stand to learn how to be stronger, as well as more confident. North is so patient with him through it all, I found myself loving the wonderful man that he was even more. The way North's family immediately welcomed Elias in, the sense of family they were able to give him, it was heartwarming. And, the new relationship Elias and his dad were developing would have made his mom so happy. I must also mention that West was great, and she needs to find her forever love now too. Always happy to read about a deserving couple getting their happily ever after. Love really does have a funny way of finding us sometimes.
This was cute story that definitely features insta love. Insta love can be a hit or miss depending on the individual story, and I know it's not everyone's favorite, but it actually works with this one.
The characters could not be more different from each other, but they balance each other out. I did kind of cringe from all the hook up references or whatever, but I get that college is a time to explore. I liked that the alternating point of view allowed for additional information about both characters; it helped to understand them more. There were some light and fluffy moments, and then some not so light and fluffy moments, especially when unwanted exes make their presence needlessly known.
While there are several appearances from couples from the previous series, I don't think it is quite necessary to read the whole series or at least read it in order. I mean, it would help, and they are great books, but they can pretty much stand on their own.
This series has some absolute gems in it and some that are just fair. This is a gem for me. I loved how much emphasis there was on love, family, and growth. There isn't much that I can complain about for both men except for how they sometimes fall into a caricature of themselves for little moments when some of the side characters made an appearance. But it was in the depth achieved through creating true individuals in North and Elias that really sold me on this story.
The weird cat was kind of just icing on the cake. I know it had to have weirded out some other readers, but I don't mind a "unique" animal in a story. Overall there was a whole lot of quirky, tender feels that gave me a lift and that's a lot of what I find myself gravitating toward lately in books I read. And in finding more than a love for your soul, but a family that you thought you'd lost a chance at through your own tragedies...that, that's what made my heart sing. Adding that to the already wonderful dynamic between North and Elias and I was so very sold.
I love that these books are just made to make you feel all of the cheesy, hopeful, happy love in the world. I adore the characters and the nod to the cosmic universe. I’m not a believer, but these books make me want to be. Also, birds. So many birds. And making recovery from abusive relationships not heavy and dark is always going to be a plus. Elias deserved this HEA so much. Feeling a kinship with North over having a life full of crazy stories that no one believes was a nice surprise as well.
Knocked off a star because the editor had another bad day/week/whatever. It didn’t detract from the story, but it was noticeable. Well, noticeable to me, at least, but I’m a perfectionist so I don’t hold that against anyone else.
10/10, will always recommend, just don’t be that person who gets mad at the over-the-top, almost too good to be true love story. You need to know what you’re going into, and it’s a land where love is never half-done and always amazing. If only real life could be so wonderful.
I’ve been looking forward to reading Elias’s story and suffice to say, it completely blew me away. Elias deserved a beautiful HEA of his own after everything he went through and the stars definitely brought him someone very special.
Elias and North were beautiful together. Elias lit up every time North looked his way and it was nice to see him come out of his shell.
North’s lack of filter made me laugh. He was down to earth, funny, sweet and patient - he was pretty much everything Elias needed to heal and open his heart.
Elias’s mum’s letter made me cry. The letters were funny, sweet and so incredibly moving. I had to re-read what his mum named his new bird - was it a coincidence or was his mum playing match maker from beyond? I’d like to think it was the latter.
Amazing story with several heart melting and cry worthy moments.
*I voluntarily read this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*
I was a little worried about this book, the previous one in the series having not clicked for me at all, but Elias and North totally made it work for me. Even though they came together very quickly, they sold me on the depth of their emotions, and I believed in their connection.
I really appreciated how genuine they were with one another, how they could be their real selves and find acceptance. Elias’s past relationships were truly awful (and should probably have had a content warning), and it was uplifting to see North be genuinely patient and understanding and just give Elias everything he needs completely naturally. North was far more assured in general but still had a few uncertainties to help the relationship feel more balanced.
North’s family, Elias’s dad, and the art and letters from Genevieve were hugely entertaining and enriched the romance a lot. This is definitely one of my favourites of the series.
I loved it!! I’m so glad I pre-ordered this!! to be 100 % honest I’m not much of a fan of “instalove” because in most cases is just “instalust” trying to be pass as love. However, with this book I genuinely believe the main characters, North and Elias, are in love, not only for the fact that they didn’t jump at having intimacy right away, but because they actually try and get to know one another. Also, Elias and North are absolutely perfect for each other. They heal and complement each other in such a beautiful and lovable way. I couldn’t help falling in love with them. I know that they are not real people but I felt like they were and it made me so happy that they found each other. To the author, thank you for writing this story. I really enjoyed reading it.
Although this was a cute story with adorable MC - the cute lawyer Elias who reads horoscopes because his mum loves them, and North Eastern (!) the zany student/barman who he meets on a fateful day...
..i discovered I just don't like instalove, it's not my thing. It feels like "well we already know it's HEA so why read the rest"?
Having said that I did finish this, and give it 4 stars, but wouldn't read again.
Things i liked - Elias and his bird sculptures from his mum, and his fierce powerful-lawyer personality whilst not being in any way arrogant - North and his very funny family with silly stories and equally silly names - plot twist that North is the horoscope writer! - the COMMUNICATION between the MC was great - what a CHANGE!
Things I didn't like - it was far too quick to get to instalove - that's it really! SO that made it feel rather insubstantial

This is another book with sweet characters who fall in love, because Elias and North are perfect for each other. But because of Elias' past relationships, it leaves him a bit damaged and it's not until North shows him how relationships are supposed to be that Elias starts to trust himself and open up to those around him. There is a lot to this story and I don't want to give anything away, but Elias had two failed relationships, both seemed abusive in their own way, and it's devastating to see Elias doubt himself because of it. The two men are good for each other and you sense that the more you read. Another wonderful book in the series with a great deal of emotion and love. Highly recommended!
This book had so much pure emotion in it that I actually teared up a few times while reading it. Elias has been hurt, mentally and somewhat physically, by past relationships and is SO incredibly done with even trying...until he meets North Easton. North is pure chaos wrapped up in a beautiful, almost magical package. The connection that these two have is intense and so sweet. The way North helps Elias heal is so beautiful. Elias's mom, Genevieve, was an incredible character that made me cry with her words and actions. She truly had a gift that keeps on giving. North's family made me laugh out loud and made me wish that I knew them personally! Everything about this book was incredible. A.F. Zoelle created another masterpiece with this installment in the Good Bad Idea series.
This book was completely boring and full of clichés. The MC's ages were unbelievable, Elias didn t act like a mature grown up while North who was younger and technically the superficial type was mature, understanding and completely opposite of how the author described him. I didn t enjoy this, it bored me, from the ridiculous "coincidences" (the last present his mother gives him before passing is a bird named North, just like his current love interest) to the constant comparisons of North to his ex's. I saw this having good reviews and expected something great, to each its own I guess. I unfortunately didn t like it, it had no plot, no drama, action, nothing. Just 2 guys meeting and confessing never dying love.
Elias and North's story is a wonderful instalove story. Elias has never had a good romantic relationship and doesn't believe they exist. North has never been in a romantic relationship and doesn't know how to navigate the feelings Elias brings out of him. But even never having felt for anyone the way he feels about Elias, North is determined to help Elias see they are meant for each other and that Elias deserves love, devotion, and consideration. With their families and friends being a wonderful cast of characters surrounding them, they navigate the ups and downs of new love. I highly recommend you read their story. It has a little heartache, and a lot of humor and love.
So now we have Elias and North. If you haven’t read the series yet I suggest you start with a Bet on Love and loose yourself in the love.
Elias and North’s story was so sweet. Elias has been through hell and back. He has put of relationships since his last one was completely abusive. The North walks into his life and changes everything Elias ever thought about himself and his ex’s are wrong. North opens up something inside Elias that hasn’t been there before.
Their story will make you cry, smile, laugh and laughcry. They are just so sweet and beautiful together. I can’t wait for the next book! I want so much more from these guys.
4.5 stars ..A fantastic start as Elias and North meet in a bar in usual storyline. The guys are perfect for each other, Elias was the shy nerd, and North happened to be the werried partier person. Both couldnt forget a their first meeting, and Callum helps out.. This includes sad part for Elias, his mum sounded like a super cool lady. A beautiful romance with a fast connection they both feel. Lots of emotions in this book and a hidden lie by omittance. Baggages with past Ex's and more to the book. I'd read this as a standalone and a new author for me. Elias had his freind, Callum but sadly he lost his mum 8 months ago and missed her. Reading daily horoscopes had him feeling closer to her.
