Isobel's heart skipped a beat every time she noticed a redhead coming her way. She is enamoured by the young, kind pickpocket who always shows up when she needs him.
Until he doesn't.
Isobel's heart is broken, not just because Martin disappeared without a word, but because her little sister, Faye, is getting sicker by the day. Not able to buy a crust of bread, or pay rent, it feels as if she is failing in her duty as a sister.
On a day where she think it can't get much worse, she is set upon by a group of scallywags, who takes her last few coins. She feels broken, and fear her sister won't make it through the week. That is the only reason she is even considering an offer by local bad boy, Jon Walker.
Will this innocent young girl be able to do whatever is necessary to protect her little sister? Or is there another way?
This was another great book by Catherine James. It's about two orphan girls in which the younger girl is 11 years old and sickly. Her older sister takes her responsibility of taking care of them both seriously. This is a continuation of the first book The Forgotten Orphan. Well developed characters with a beautiful ending.
This was a very good book and kept you interested till the end. It shows you how far one sister will go for another and how friendship never quits. I think you'd like this book.
This was a story of survival on the streets of London. Two sisters to young to be on their own. It is the story of rags to riches only because the girls never lost faith. I was fearful when the eldest was forced into woking for savory characters just to keep them in shelter and food.
