A father and his family find sanctuary in their old family homestead, hidden deep in the forest during an EMP crisis.
Protecting Our Home
Cody Russell leaves the city with his family and heads to his father’s old homestead, concealed deep in the woods. For Russell, the only thing worse than failing to reach sanctuary is the failure to protect his family in this dangerous post-EMP world.
The Final Stand
Prepare and survive.
When an EMP cripples the nation's power grid, lawlessness erupts across the country. Fighting against the chaos, Detective Mike Thorton must rescue his family from the city and bring them to his sister's cabin in the mountains.
Surviving The Blackout consists of two stories entrenched into a post apocalyptic EMP world. Both storylines feature an adventure focusing on maintaining family security and safety in a chaotic world. The book is well written and maintains your attention with its creativity.

The first book is three stars and the second book is five stars. I would love to read a sequel to James Hunt’s book. How do Mike and Katy and Lisa cope with the new reality? There are many unanswered questions at the end. What about town? Will more terrorists invade. And exactly who are the terrorists? What country set off the EMP?
I say a reasonable plot but a trifle contrived as to the origin of the EMP. From that there are quite a few errors as to what works or doesn’t. The first instant was the police radio that was “dead” but with static sounding. A few others but then this is fiction. All in all an American hero cop and a serial killer, hero wins but then what would one expect.
I chose 5 stars because I thought both e books in the box set were well written, great story line and followed a logical story line with a good set of characters which one can identify with the event. (With a pinch of salt). I enjoyed it and will look out for more work by Colton lively.
TEOTWAWKI scenarios are usually badly written. No plot, Rambo-like characters, grammatically incorrect, and a miserable rot half way through. Not this one. Read all of it and have no complaints. The serial killer element actually made sense. Don't give up on the genre until you read Lively's book.
I really enjoyed reading this EMP boxset. Each book is well written and pulls you in from the start. The stories are interesting and hard to put down. I would recommend reading.

Too bad the author has such an issue with Conservatives as I was actually enjoying the book. But its attitudes like he repeats over and over that changed me from a left leaning moderate into a anti-liberal. It’s really a shame because I would have liked to have finished the book.
I didn’t realize this was two separate books, thought it was a series but it was still good. Each of them could easily be made into a series because they both end with still so much up in the air. I enjoyed the storylines and the characters.
This is my first time reading this author and overall, he did a good job. I would have liked it better if he’d kept his politics to himself as I enjoy reading as a break from reality.

The diaspora depicted here is fairly standard but making the primary character a police detective is a great move. The characters are well developed and earn our empathy, especially Mike's damaged veteran sister. Worth the read
Pretty good story and I would give the editing a B-
I am so very disappointed in the Kindle Unlimited collection of books. The story lines aren't bad, but the editing is anywhere from B- to atrocious. I would give this book a C at best.
Interesting book. I believe this is a very possible thing that could happen to is. We definitely need to work together instead of people trying to control people. This is important for our society to try go work together.
Very poor writing, mistakes, and story line, very childlike, reminds me of Enid Blyton series for kids. Waste of time, easy to read but poor substance, too unrealistic for this topic.
I loved it. Love the writing. Would have like for it to continue. I definitely will read mor from this author. Best I’ve read in a while. He made it seem so real.
