From REMINGTON KANE, the author of the TAKEN! SeriesCONTENDER - A Tanner Novel - Book 38Tanner and the lethal assassin Soulless compete to kill the same target.
Remington Kane is an American author that writes action-packed thrillers. The author might be unfamiliar to some people because Remington Kane is actually a pseudonym for Donald Wells.
Donald Wells has garnered a reputation for writing darker and somewhat serious novels about killers. The author was born in New Jersey. He never really left and has since made a home there. Like most of his peers, Donald Wells was an avid reader as a child.
He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. Like many aspiring authors, Donald Wells knew he had the capacity to tell stories. However, he was a little hesitant to venture into such uncharted waters, not only because he didn’t know where to start with regards to writing a book but also because he didn’t have confidence in his own ability to produce compelling fiction.
Again, like most notable authors, Donald meandered about for a while. Rather than going into publishing the first chance he got, Donald tried his hand at various odd jobs. He worked as an insurance salesman, a Real Estate Sales person, and even a Retail manager.
The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.
He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.
Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.
By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.
This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.
When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.
Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.
Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.
Tanner, on a contract for Thomas Lawson, travels to Africa. Soulless, a sociopath contending for the title of Greatest Assassin, also travels to Africa on a contract - same target, different client. Once there, they compete in a match of dance moves, show tunes, and interpretive poetry.
..and by "match of dance moves, show tunes, and interpretive poetry", I mean killing tons of people.
This is about two different assassins and the way they choose to compete the same contract. One chooses the indirect approach and loses to the one who chose the more direct approach. As Tanner said "Soulless uses overkill" to do his job. He leaves death and destruction in his wake when it's not necessary. He is a despicable character that needs to be taken out of the storyline.
When Thomas Lawson calls, Tanner comes running. The lawman has a contract that only Tanner can fulfill. However, unbeknownst to them, a foreign country has hired “Soulless”, who views himself as the world’s greatest assassin, to fulfill the same contract, killing an evil African leader. Both assassins race to complete the impossible task, albeit in different ways. The methods and the race provide the action, and there’s plenty of it.
Whenever, wherever I get the notice informing me of the arrival of a new Kane Remington book I Drop Everything because it's time for me to indulge! I've read a great lot of books in my 66 years but I can't tell you what it is about Tanner, etc. that makes me go nuts - other than that for a brief moment when it's just me & Kane I'm completely full up with delight!! Galloping action, drama, humor and surprise - Remington Kane delivers it all Every Single Time.
This was an amazing book from Remington Kane so much excitement and action it puts you right in the Middle of it all and leaves you gasping for breath. This is a book you will not be able to put . A must read for anyone who is a fan of amazement. My dream is to be invited to watch him work and what the Author goes though while writing. Highly recommend this wonderful story.
Finally, a book without plumbing problems. No flush toilet in holes or water sources cut off that don't drain the tanks. However, I feel the family dynamic is off. NO mother is going to take a phone from her son and immediately say "oh daddy, have you killed someone today?" Not only would that skew Lucas view of tanner, but what happens when career day roles around at school?
I stumbled across a random Tanner book and liked it. I went to the first book of the series and kept reading the books. Usually I would have enough after reading a half a dozen, but the author is a good writer and I finished the series. I liked the concept, the characters, and I have to say again good writing. If you like action adventure books read this series.
Tanner and Soulless become rivals in a quest on an assassination to kill the general in Africa. This looks almost impossible for the hit to happen. Tanner makes a decision to go one way to get to the general while Soulless attempts another way question is who will get there first. Good luck, but you have to really pay attention and follow it closely. There’s a lot of detail.
Sure, the cartel & the Conglomerate had him overwhelmingly outnumbered, but not even the Citadel was as challenging to pull off as trying to assassinate an warlord general in his African mine fortified palace protected by his former child soldiers… did I mention Soulless got a contract for the general too!! Its gonna be epic!
The action is jaw dropping good and trouble is following Tanner as it always does. We are thrown right in the tick of it,as we find our hero right in the middle of a contract and coupe. The writer gets it right on all counts and our man finally gets to see the one who's out to take the number one spot. Can not what for the next nail bitter!
Another exciting adventure awaits Tanner as he once again faces insurmountable odds to keep his record as top in his field. This venture takes him to Africa where unbeknownst, another hit man Soulless is after the same prey.
Gosh what a read two deadly Assassins after the same target couldn't fathom how this was going to go down what a read .Mr Kane certainly knows how to write a page turner .Think Soulless will feature again in this series !!what a great series hope it never ends .
This author will never disappoint you. From start to finish he will keep your attention. Still waiting for the White family to come back though. Love this author!!!
