A Different Ending: The Side of Love Less Talked About

Aliza is your typical nineteen-year old girl who lives with her boyfriend, Tyler. Growing up, they knew everything about one another and even started dating. Not long after Aliza and Tyler move into their first place together, however, she realizes how much she doesn’t actually know about him. Now she is faced with the side of love that’s not often mentioned.Tyler may have won over Aliza’s heart, but he has also abusively taken control over her life, in ways she never saw coming. Broken and bruised, Aliza makes the most terrifying decision ever and reaches out for help from a guy that she has been friends with in order to escape Tyler’s wrath. Just when Aliza thinks she is free, fueled by his anger Tyler does something awfully drastic and permanent that will alter everyone’s lives forever. Shocked by Tyler’s actions, Aliza discovers that she wasn’t his only victim. Those invisible chains that she felt Tyler once had placed on her are no longer there, and she has never felt so much relief and guilt as she does now.

Aliza is an everyday woman with a job and a bad boyfriend. Her journal entries are neurotic ramblings about her horrible relationship with a guy that cheats, steals, and abuses her. He was a drug addict with violent outbursts and a short fuse. Gee, what a prince! Her life was a disaster in which the bad always followed the good. I certainly like the life she led without the boyfriend, the life that included her friend, Nolan, her work, and her parents. Nolan was definitely her rock, always being there for her and helping her out.

Definitely a different kind of love story here—one told from the darker, seedier side of the tracks. It’s the story of an abuse victim, but she certainly doesn’t play the victim, which made her a stronger character. Her brutal honesty about the whole thing was refreshing. At least she admitted that she allows the abuse to happen by not doing anything about it. Fact of the matter is that she’s too co-dependent. She doesn’t want to be alone.

The candid style and honest reflection collaborate to make this an interesting read.

This book opened my eyes to the cycle of domestic abuse and where it can lead.
The storyline was easy to follow, and I found myself unable to put the book down.

An Interesting read.
I actually got myself reading page after page, It is a book I couldn't put down. The author has clearly illustrated the events in the book and this glued me to want to know what happens next. The lesson I have learnt is sometimes we are afraid of change for many reasons and you actually find yourself afraid of coming out of abuse relationships because of friends and families. This book has clearly shown how we can be drained by abusive relationships and we think the problems happening is because of us, if only we could stop blaming ourselves for any misfortunes that we encounter in relationships we couldn't be facing domestic violence. If we find ourselves in relationships we aren't loved and appreciated, we have to know that there is someone out there who is ready to take you as his/ her flower and water it every single day to make you feel like a princess or a prince. Let's stop keeping quiet and speak up and stop DOMESTIC VIOLENCE!!!!!

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was very well written, well paced kept making you want more. It is easy to become emotionally invested in this and relate to the main character even as a man. At the risk of giving any spoilers a way as a man myself I find it very hard to stomach when other men act violently to a woman like the main character’s ex did to her. I feel he got a way better ending than he deserved

Very good read

This story tugged at my heart as I, too, have been through a similar situation. It was told from a realistic point of view, not dramatized or sugar coated- just true to life tale of an escape from an abusive relationship.

This is a novel about a woman that is suffering domestic violence.
The story is so well-written that you feel empathy for the main characters and hate for Tyler.
In addition, some intense moments will keep you hooked until the end. I definitely recommend A Different Ending.
