"THE MOST NOTORIOUS JAILBREAKERS: Untold Stories of Escaped Convicts" how can I say no to this title? I was so intrigued with the title, I took the book within a week of its delivery and finished it in 2-3 sittings. I read it around 6-7 weeks back and unfortunately, I forgot to write a review of the book. So I am trying my best to give you a full review (even though I read 3-4 more books in between)

You may consider this book as a collection of non-fiction short stories. Each dedicated to one notorious jailbreaking. But storytelling is different, it is not mere documentation. Those who have seen the prison break series must have seen the level of planning required to escape from jail. You may think the Indian system is corrupted but most of these prisoners were famous enough to escape just by paying bribes. Each chapter describes how meticulous planning and patience helped them.

Well, those who wanted well-documented articles may find content shallow. But for those who are satisfied with a newspaper like stories or short articles will find the book very entertaining. The language used is simple to follow and easy for the 14+ age group. As the book is hardly 200 pages long and content divided into 16 chapters, the content demands a very very fast pace narration style. If you get bored or dislike any chapter you can easily skip it. You will find many interesting villain's names that you might have heard in movies, for example, I thought Natvarlal was a fictitious character only.

Overall I will give 3.5 out of 5.

It was okay and informative.
Book written for/around crimes/criminal should have some thrill, and danger,, the book don't have.
Its rather feel like reading Wikipedia, with some sensational word threw in.
Though good for research as the sources of information is given.
Nothing revealing though,, just collection of information from secondary sources.
As I said, good for research purpose. And I do like research, but not on this topic.

Have you ever thought about what goes on in a criminal's mind or how is someone able to escape from prison or the type of prison escapes we see in movies is actually possible or not? If the answer to any one of those questions is a 'yes' then this book is meant for you.

'The most notorious jail breakers,' is a book about some infamous criminals who have managed to escape the walls of prison all over India. The author has managed to cover escapes spanning from 1962 to recent years. This book contains sixteen escape stories and each chapter is dedicated to one story.

Reading each of these stories feels like you are a part of a high definition, suspenseful thriller movie. You might as well sit with some popcorn because the stories will keep you at the edge of your seat, some of them might disgust you as well, and some prison breaks are so bizarre it might take the reader some time to wrap their head around it. As you read one story after the other you realise there is a link or common point in all the escapes, which is the virtue of patience. The patience to spend time in prison, the patience to plan their escape, the patience to wait years before their plan unfolds.

Kapoor has done extensive research for each story, he has mentioned the criminal history of each escapee and made sure the reader has all the necessary details required to read about the criminal and his escape. Most of the details provided are from secondary research done by the author. The escape stories also show the gaps in the police system, because these escapes keep happening again and again throughout the years.

From the infamous 'bikini killer' to the 'great Natwarlal' the author has made sure to include them all. The stories are crisp and to the point making sure the attention of the reader is not lost making this a fast paced and enjoyable read.

This book stands tall amongst its contemporaries as not only does it make for an engrossing read it also provides details about the source of information making it a good research material. The author was able to deliver what he promised, i.e., the most notorious jailbreaks.

The Most Notorious Jailbreakers was a truly very interesting book! I was hooked on from the very start getting to know the ins-and-outs, the thoughts and planning that went behind every escape. The whole idea of writing a book about these daring escapades was just so amazing that the premise was enough to hook me in.
From the synopsis itself, one can understand how these infamous criminals of India made out of the dreaded prisons. Apart from the entire criminal nature of it all, one is compelled to really applaud the ingenuity of these criminals. I mean, damn, were they super clever and sly! Could we do the same if we were locked up? Haha!
I also think the writing style of the author was just very intriguing. Instead of making it into a list of actions and plans and such, the author weaved an intricate plot, mush like the amazing money heist movies that draw us in from the very start.
Reading about these criminals was just such a cool time! It was like I fell down this rabbit hole once I picked up this book and ended up finishing the book in like three hours. With just 181 pages, this book was a real stunner. I really enjoyed it (if that hadn't been obvious so far) and the only thing it lacked was perhaps a few pictures of these prisons, and these criminals. I rated it 4/5 stars!

The most notorious jailbreakers by abeer Kapoor is the collection of stories of convicts who have escaped the gated walls of prison all over the India.

The author has told the stories of 16 criminals like the famous conman of India, Natwarlal, killer of Phoolan Devi, Sher Singh Rana, Geeta parmar, Bitihotra mohanty, Mir Laik ali, Psycho Shankar and many more.

The cover is neat and the title is apt for the story. Every story is very interesting to read and you are left wondering at the end of each story "what has happened exactly that day?"

The language used by author is simple and easy to understand. The writing style of the author keeps you hooked till the end of the book.

My favourite stories from the book are Natwarlal, The Nawada Jailbreak : A tale of two gangsters, Psycho killer : Thank God he is dead.

The book is only around 200 pages so it's a fast paced and quick read. The author has done a lot of research work for this book.

I would definitely recommend this book.

Now, this fast paced narrative required just 2 hours to be over! The 2 hours just flew as I got totally engrossed in the detailed accounting of thrilling jail escapades!

Pros
Informative
Enthralling
Well Written
A Quick Read

Cons
My only complain is that there's an absence of insightful images for the readers. With the inclusion of pictures of the people concerned or the sight of the escapades, this book would have been a great source for research as well as an even more interesting and captivating read!

The Most Notorious Jailbreakers is a collection of 16 narratives that expose the escapades of some of the infamous convicts like Natwarlal, Mir Laik Ali, Phoolan Devi’s murderer, Shanker, Walcott Jr., Sao and many more. Most of the names are the ones that once got lost in the records and their stories never really reached people. But when you read this book, it is sure to startle you!
