ONE NIGHT ONLY is here in KU and Audible Escape to heat you up! This is a red-hot, sexy forbidden love story featuring a strong, protective bodyguard, the beautiful, brilliant hotel heiress he protects, and the fantasies they explore . . . including a smoking hot MFM sequence!
Wow, these two took ages to realise they were meant for each other. Luckily, with Callum employed as Ivy's bodyguard, they spend a lot of time together. Refreshingly, these two have a lovely relationship before they even head into the bedroom. I think this friendship made it easy for the two of them to indulge their desires and for Ivy to trust Callum to give her what she needed.
The narration was done exceptionally well and I loved that there were enough narrators to 'perform' each of the parties in the bedroom. I didn't have to judge Emma Wilder's male voice or Joe Arden's and Jacob Morgan's female voices. This made it a very easy listen.
To be honest, I wasn't really expecting the heat level to be as high as it was. I just hit the listen button because it's a Lauren Blakely. Even though it was an MFM, it really wasn't OTT. I never felt that slight uncomfortableness when a couple brings in someone else and you question *HOW COULD THEY NOT BE JEALOUS???* It was obvious that it was really only about Callum and Ivy. Saying that, I really liked Stone and I definitely want to 'see' his story come to life.
I enjoyed One Night Only and I will definitely be interested in going on with the series. You really can't go wrong with a Lauren Blakely.
I thought reading this novella was hot, but listening to it took things to an entirely new level! Joe Arden, Emma Wilder, and Jacob Morgan were scorching hot and the surprise cameo by Teddy Hamilton as Jackson was the best! I am a fan of all of these narrators and they complement each other so well. They all do such a great job voicing both male and female characters. I love these After Dark novellas!
***** One Night Only is a sexy and delicious forbidden/bodyguard novella. It's part of Lauren Blakely's After Dark series, so readers shouldn't go in expecting her usual light romcoms. You can feel the sexual tension between Callum and Ivy right from the start, and I loved the build up between these two. Watching them toe the line between their working relationship and more was so fun. I appreciated how Ivy embraced her sexual desires and really came into her own and how Callum was always so supportive and encouraging. Ivy's happiness was always the most important thing in his mind. There's a smoking hot MFM scene that might melt your kindle and have you fanning yourself and it also sets up a future story line very well.
I always love the Easter eggs that Lauren Blakely throws into her books - nods to previous characters and even some real life mentions too (ahem, Candi Kane). One Night Only was just the sexy read I was looking for!
*I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book*
A história de Callum e Ivy, poderia até ser o cliché do guarda costas mas Lauren Blakely consegue tornar o cliché em algo fabuloso. Sexy and steamy 😇 Também nos "apresenta" Stone e Jackson da série One Time Only.
This was erotically yummy. Ivy Carmichael is a Co CEO at a upscale Vegas hotel and in need of a bodyguard. Callum Blackwell is the owner of a security company and after his first meeting with Ivy he decides he wants to personally be her bodyguard.
They try to do the professional thing and keep their relationship strictly business but eventually they give in to their needs and wants. They have explosive chemistry together and then invite in a third person for a steamy threesome.
If you want a very sexy low conflict read this is for you.
“This pull I feel toward my bodyguard. A pull I’ve never acted on for so many reasons. He’s the perfect distraction.”
Under-pressure hotel heiress Ivy needs a distraction and ripped bodyguard Callum is it -- if they get on the same page. This steamfest has ALL the sexy vibes and then some. It’s off the charts sexy and a character all by itself. The MCs’ willpower to tease, pull back, indulge, and then deny each other revealed amazing self-control. But, eventually I was desensitized to sustained seduction that left me hanging. Also, I’m not a fan of ménage, even as “harmless” as this one was, and I definitely need more dinner with my show. Except for a stalker mention that amounts to nothing, there wasn’t even a story of any kind. Just raw sensuality and pure, erotic sexiness: thinking about sex, fantasizing about sex, talking about sex, commiserating about sex, flirting with sex, denying sex, and FINALLY having sex. Does anyone not know how this turns out?
Blakely does seduction and erotic romance very well and usually entertains me. I’ve got 24 of her books to prove it, so it feels somewhat hypocritical saying this novella goes overboard on seduction. Finally, halfway through I’d had enough footdragging and wanted the characters to just stop stalling, making excuses not to be together, and give in to the desire. But, that would have required a storyline and not just the “physical”.
In fairness, the setup of the pair was tantalizing with dialogue, like this:
“Do you have any idea how much I want you?” “How much?” “So much I can’t breathe right now.” “So breathe me in.”
And then, when they’d had enough denial:
“We are blurred lines and danger. There is absolutely a line. And I’m crossing it. I’m vaulting over it.”
Whose jets aren’t revved by talk like that? But the seduction is all about facing their desires for each other and dominant Callum setting Ivy free of control in the bedroom to indulge in her dirty fantasies. Problem is, the fantasy part was meh. Have seen it all before, so the reality of their delayed gratification wasn't as satisfying as the seductive tease. Ivy wasn't at all appealing, but I was smitten with Callum. I needed more, and got less ... even though the seduction part was the best part, it was overlong.
FYI: Crossover characters appear from One Exquisite Touch, Maybe This Time, One Time Only. Nice tie-ins.
Ivy Carmichael grew up in privileged alongside her twin sister as hotel heiresses. And ever since their parents died it’s been their mission to re-launch their hotel as one of the best in Las Vegas by organizing spectacular concerts with the world’s best performers. She doesn’t have time to indulge in pleasure, much less seek to fulfill her dirty fantasies with the man whose job is to protect her.
For the past year, Callum Blackwell’s mission has been to observe and protect Ivy. He’s done more than that, he’s gotten to know her, become her best friend, and more importantly, he wants her and knows she wants him too. Crossing that line could put her safety and friendship at risk. But resisting is near impossible and then rock god Stone Zenith and Callum’s best friend pushes them over.
This novella was deliciously hot and I didn’t just enjoy it for the sexy factor even though it was certainly sizzling. I really like strong characters and Ivy and Callum fit the bill perfectly.
I didn’t just like Ivy because she’s smart and accomplished, she’s also strong and I loved that she embraced both sides of her personality, her professional side and her dark vixen one which helped inflame the attraction between her and Callum. Clearly Callum was more than perfect for her and completely delish is him alphaness. I loved how he could anticipate Ivy’s needs and did his best to take her of her in every way including indulging her kinks. I liked how Blakely blends sexy with sweet with intimate and touching moments during which the characters cement their relationship that goes beyond the bedroom.
One Night Only is a novella of the After Dark series by Lauren Blakely. It is a standalone erotic romance told from various points of view with a happy ending. MFM.

This is now my fourth sinfully decadent (that’s my name for these book because *fans self*) read by Lauren and I can tell you I am already very addicted. I might even have to just go back and binge read them for the pleasure of it, if you feel me … LOL
I have to say, the absolute best part of these short(ish) reads is that they are decadent and also laced with Lauren’s signature humor undertones. It’s reading the best of both worlds because she is really quite good with both! It helps that this story was a bodyguard story, of course, because they absolutely always ooze sexual appeal and Lauren made sure Callum was top-notch alpha and also, so was Ivy. Two strong characters with delicious chemistry that jumped off the page from the get-go! I know these are quick reads, but there is nothing quick about the feelings they invoke when you read them! #TRUST Do with that information what you will ;) lol
4.5 stars Ivy Carmichael is a Co-CEO and hotel owner working on revamping her family's flagship hotel. She is intelligent, focused, and tightly wound. She has her proper public facade that hides her baser wants and needs.
Callum Blackwell has been her bodyguard for over a year. He is honest, dependable, intuitive, and very protective. He has become her friend, sounding board, and confidante. But he is also highly attractive, sexy, and intense. Callum is used to being observant and watching Ivy closely. But he also would love to get even closer to her.
They both know it should be off-limits. Their working relationship is important. They have a deep level of trust and a close bond. Callum is especially professional and trying hard to resist temptation. But they are finally near their breaking point.
His best friend, rock star Stone Zenith is determined to push them towards the point of no return. He just wants his friend to get what he wants. And he has a good feeling about Ivy too. But none of them could anticipate the ripple effect that Stone was about to set off.
I loved this after dark novella about risks, rewards, trust, and embracing your true self. It can be read as a total stand-alone but LB fans will see a few familiar names dropped and cameos.
Callum is amazing. The perfect combination of a tough manly man with a vulnerable heart. I loved how he could instinctively read Ivy's needs and do his best to take care of her in all ways. And Ivy is trying to reconcile all the parts of herself to feel whole and accepted. She is not sure if it is smart to explore some of her wants, but Callum makes every situation a safe place for her. They just have this electricity between them and a connection that is more than physical. It is ridiculously hot! And they are also good friends that share fun banter and camaraderie. I just loved them together.
And Stone. Gah! He is cocky, pushy, unfiltered, and sexy in his own right. I also loved his bodyguard, Jackson. They also have a witty rapport. I loved getting all of their points of view. I am hoping to see more of Stone and Jackson in the future.
The hotel heiress and her bodyguard, sound hot? You bet!! Lauren Blakely’s newest After Dark novella is “One Night Only” and boy is it steamy, sexy, and beautiful. I like the employer/employee troupe a lot especially when you have a super sexy, ruggedly handsome/former military, and heart-of-gold alpha. Mmmmm….Callum is all that and then some. During his time guarding Ivy, Callum has been observing/learning her wants, desires, and sexy desires. When Callum discovers Ivy’s “darker” desires he sets out to deliver. Enlisting the help of his best friend, Stone, together they bring Ivy more pleasure than she has ever known. Stone just might be the type of friend to do the “matchmaking” thing while discovering a thing or two about himself. Love this After Dark series. This book also has a very well written MFM scene as well. If this is not your usual thing, I highly encourage you to step out and try it. The scene is so well written as is the whole story. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. 5 stars*****
I have said it before and I will say it again Lauren does Dirty WELL! I hope we will get more from her like this… HOT, HOT, HOT. The chemistry between these characters is scorching!
I very much enjoyed that Ivy’s fantasies synced up with Callum’s but she was unafraid to tell him what she wanted and needed. Even though sometimes she didn’t come right out and say it he knew.
The MFM parts holy heck man did I say HOT before… lol it was smoken!
I can’t wait to see more of the characters mentioned in this book get their own books.
Can we take a moment for the narrators because YES, YES they are amazing they give this book that it factor. Loved with my whole heart.
I really enjoyed this newest addition to the After Dark series.
I haven't read too many stories in which a bodyguard falls in love with the person he's assigned to protect but after finishing this one I feel like maybe I should change that. Not only was this leading man protective in more ways than one, but he was also thoughtful, considerate, and attentive to the needs of the leading lady.
Both main characters were well written and easy to connect with which I always appreciate in a novella length story. I also really like it when I don't feel like it needed to be longer to better flesh out the story. This one was really good as is.
The steam in this story was off the charts but also really well written. Overall I've been really enjoying this series and look forward to more coming. They're a perfect little palette cleanser between longer stories since they're short, steamy and fun.
This is a short story, so naturally lacks the complexity of full-length novels. However, if you're looking for something fun and sexy, here's your next read! Bonus points if you listen to the audiobook! Some gorgeous voices and Joe Arden always delivering the best narration.
This was smut but with more sweetness to the story. I enjoyed it but I gotta say, I found this one played it kind of safe, especially with the MFM scene. I wanted it dirtier
OMG!!! You have to listen to this book on Audible! The narrators are Joe Arden as Callum the sexy bodyguard, Emma Wilder as Ivy the heiress, and Jacob Morgan as Stone the famous rock star and Callum best friend. Fast past hot as hell romance!! Such a great storyline, with body guard and client, sexual chemistry, passionate, delicious and sensuous, well paced story. I am so in with this author!!
This "after dark" romance is about a body guard, his client and the chemistry they share, but she harbors dirty secret fantasies that he decides to make come true. Not my cup of tea, but it might be yours. The narration is excellent and helps bring the characters to life so the story is enjoyable enough, but unless you are the liked to be spanked type or desire a threesome then you may want to pass on this one as well.
** Full review in portuguese @Pausa para umCapítulo.
Ivy Carmichael is a hotel heiress working to rebuild her family’s hotel brand. She is very aware of the visibility her career places her in, and draws a clear line between her work persona and her private persona. She is a strong character, and I’ve always liked her influence in previous After Dark books. Getting a glimpse at her interests was bound to be entertaining.
Callum Blackwell has been her personal bodyguard for over a year. He takes his position seriously and though he can feel the chemistry between them, he has a rule to not get involved with his clients. He is focused and rigid in his work, but his feelings about Ivy mean he is even more invested in the job. I loved how this focus meant he knew exactly what she wanted and needed, even before she could articulate it.
The tension crackles between these two from the very beginning, though they each have their own reasons for keeping things professional. First and foremost they are friends, and the way they bounce ideas and work together was warm and easygoing, despite the sexual tension simmering beneath the surface. It takes a slight push from Callum’s visiting friend to cause them to cross the line from professional to personal, and the steam heats up exponentially as soon as they do.
This was a quick read, but there is no lack of heat between these characters. I loved the little connections to other Blakely books, and the little teaser to a future After Dark couple.
One Night Only is another sexy addition to the Lauren Blakely After Dark books. Lauren's books always bring the sexy and fun, and these book are no different. They just give us more of the sexy. Ivy is a CEO who's trying to revamp her hotel and make it the next big thing. Callum is her bodyguard. He's supposed to be off limits, but she can't help the way she's fallen for him in the last year. Callum's job is to protect Ivy. Watch over her and never let anything happen to her. He can't do that if he's physically involved with her, so he doesn't let her get that close. Until one night when he sees desire in her eyes. Desire for something he knows he can give her. But he has to touch her first. Experience just him and Ivy. Then he needs to walk away and do his job. Ivy can't stop thinking about the one night she shared with Callum. She wants more, but she knows it probably won't happen. Callum finally realizes he can't stay away from her and he wants to give her the fantasy she's dying for. Him, her and his best friend, Stone. He's a sexy rockstar who would love nothing more than to help out his best friend. Just one night. The three of them together to give Ivy what she craves. This story is so hot! But it's more than just steamy and sexy. Ivy's job is demanding and she has to learn that she can have both the high powered job and be submissive to her man. Callum has to realize her can still keep the woman he wants safe, while he gives in to his feelings. One night of forbidden passion just fuels the connection between Ivy and Callum. Overall I loved it! It's a short, fast read full of heat and heart. I can't wait for Stone's story!
“This is terrific. A little sweet, but with a little kick.” “Sounds like you,” Callum says, and he’s definitely being flirty too. Maybe something is in the air tonight.
I swear with every single one of the After Dark books, Lauren Blakely is getting hotter and hotter…this newest book is a perfect example of what I’m talking about.
I’m NOT giving away anything about this story other than it’s a fabulous story of discovering that a woman and man can be more than what their mold says they can and should be. There’s a struggle with Ivy and the image she puts to the public and Callum as her bodyguard is at odds with his feelings for her and his duty to protect her.
Let’s just say that in One Night, everything and I mean EVERYTHING changes…and you need to have a fan and a cool drink ready because WOWZA!!! Ms. Blakely has outdone herself with the searing sexual chemistry in this book and Ivy and Callum are a couple you’ll want to read again and again!
Ivy is sophisticated CO-CEO of Extravagant, a hotel left to her and her twin sister. She wants nothing more than to have it succeed.
Callum is her trusty bodyguard who takes his job seriously. Running his own security firm business, his main priority is keeping Ivy safe.
These two have a strong desire for each other that neither know about or will act on. Ivy has longed to live out her filthiest and dirtiest fantasies with Callum. He on the other hand has always been fascinated with her but always stuck with his “Do not touch” rule. When Ivy tells him her secret plan for the hotel, he decides he can help her by introducing her to his friend Stone. Stone not only agrees but can’t help but want to give Callum a little nudge towards the one person he wants the most. So when Callum discovers one of Ivy fantasies, he asks the only friend he can trust, Stone for only one night.
The desire between these two wonderful characters is insanely HOT. It will leave you wanting more and will set your inside on fire. Outstanding job on another great book Lauren!!!
4.5 star Review of One Night Only by Lauren Blakely
If you are looking for a fast, spicy hot read then One Night Only is the book for you. This is Ivy Carmichael and Callum Blackwell’s story and is an entertaining read that had me invested from the first to the last chapter.
As I have come to expect from Ms. Blakely, the story was funny with characters you cannot help but fall for and who are easy to relate too.
The chemistry between Ivy and Callum sizzles and as the intensity of their feelings build it almost bursts into flames.
I fell hard and fast for Callum and was intrigued by the way he drew Ivy out from behind her public persona. A steamy story that ticked the boxes for me.
Emma Wilder rocked the narration in this sexy tale and Joe Arden was the perfect bodyguard and that growly voice- oh my! Jacob Morgan nailed the sexy rockstar and Blakely wrote a titillating story about a woman in power and her sexual release.
You'll want to meet Ivy, Callum, and Stone. I loved their interactions. A keeper.
This is a quick, sexy, read about a woman who seems to have everything except what she really wants - the love of her bodyguard. She makes the first move with a kiss. He reciprocates and the relationship progresses from there with only a minor hiccup or two, and a game-changing threesome.
