McKAY

I wasn’t the one who broke her but I played my part.

She came to us when she was ten. I raised her. I loved her. I taught her how to survive in a world of evil men. But it wasn’t enough.

ADAM

I wasn’t the one who saved her but I did my best.

She needed me as much as I needed her. Bought and paid for on the auction block. But not for the reasons you think. She was my weapon.

DONOVAN

I wasn’t the one who lied to her but I hid her truth. She was broken before I got there. Wild and angry. Defiant and bratty. But she trusted me most. She loved me best.

So I set her free.

Indie Anna Accorsi is a woman lost in her past.

A pretty little nightmare.

A gorgeous piece of misery.

A mess of lovely darkness.

She is creeping beautiful.

And now we want her back.

J.A. Huss never wanted to be a writer and she still dreams of that elusive career as an astronaut. She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.

After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.

So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for a Voice Arts Award and an Audie award in 2016 and 2017 respectively, her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017, and her book, Taking Turns, was nominated for an Audie Award in 2018. Johnathan McClain is her first (and only) writing partner and even though they are worlds apart in just about every way imaginable, it works.

She lives on a ranch in Central Colorado with her family.

Original and so very compelling!

The first half of this book is told in the form of flashbacks in order to tell the backstory of the main characters, three men that have been part of “The Company” since birth. The Company is an organization of Powerful families and individuals that will do anything it takes to get what they want. They purchase women to use as breeders, and put their children into assassin training programs then put them out on teams to clean up problems (i.e. kill people that get in their way).

Adam’s father purchased McKay from his father who was a Company Arms dealer, as a sort of replacement for Adam when he was supposed to join one of the teams, but at the last minute Adam’s father got Adam out of the Program. Adam and McKay became best friends and five years after Adam’s Father and many of the Company’s top Team leaders were taken out at a wedding, Adam got bored with nothing to do and so much money to burn so he decided to start up a team.

He goes to an auction and purchases a ten year old girl named Indie Anna Accorsi. Indie has also been brought up by The Company and although Adam is interested in purchasing her, he is talked into it even more by another guy named Donovan who, like Adam is an untouchable. Which means he comes from a Company founding family. Though Donovan is only fifteen, he is a genius who has graduated college and is starting medical school and agrees to help Adam and McKay in training Indie. He will take care of her psychological well-being.

The three of them each fall in love with Indie as she grows into adulthood and it isn’t weird because all of them, including Indie have never really been children with the way they grew up and also because hey are respectful of her as a child. Though there were some times when Adam and McKay were able to play as kids when they were best friends together when they were young and for Indie as well, while she is growing up between jobs. They live on a Louisiana bayou plantation she is best friends with their only neighbor, Nathan whom she spends all her time with when she isn’t training or on missions.

Nathan is her first love and her first kiss. The description of that first kiss is the best I have ever read, bar none! But she also loves Adam, because he is always there to save her, McKay because he takes care of her and Donovan because he is always interested in what she has to say. I can see how it could be possible for someone to love more than one person.

The relationships are really complex in this book, but also so beautiful and deep because they are based off of great friendships and the kinds of bonds that you make with people that may not be your actual family by blood, but that you choose to be family with.

“If the way I feel about Indie is love, then the way I feel about McKay is… obsession.”

I don’t want to give anything more about the plot, but to reiterate that it is original, completely unpredictable and I couldn’t put it down from start to finish! And it is soooo good!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Creeping Beautiful is not the kind of book you simply read. You experience it. You live it. This story and these characters will burrow under your skin and embed themselves in your soul… and you will welcome it. This is a book that stays with you long after you’ve finished reading it. It’s intense and engaging and thoughtful and absolutely riveting. It is heartbreaking and hopeful all at once. It will you leave you emotionally wrung out and reeling, and so happy for the experience. You don’t need to have read any of JA Huss’s previous books to become thoroughly immersed in this one. Although you may find yourself drawn to her previous books after you’ve read this one, and that can only mean good things for you. I, myself, am a long-time reader and admirer of JA Huss’s work, so you’d think I’d be used to the dark and twisty by now… but there is no preparing for Creeping Beautiful. What I wouldn’t give to live in JA Huss’s mind for just one day! Although, I’m not at all sure my psyche is prepared for such an experience. Machiavelli has nothing on you, Ms. Huss. Lucky for us, you choose to use your powers for good, which translates to hours of enjoyment for your readers. I honestly cannot recommend this book highly enough, and I will be counting the days for the next book in this masterful and compelling series.

3.5 STARS!
We all have a little serial killer inside us, don't we?
Twisted and weird, for sure. And entertaining. So I have to round up.

If I had to complain, I would say I never got a handle on these multi-layered characters because it was written in a way to keep the reader guessing . . . and I was kept guessing for too long. But this story is a long-game with multiple books, so yeah . . . next installment!

ARC received from author.

Where do I even begin with this review? The synopsis leads you into believing it’s of the RH/menage theme (which is true), but something I generally dislike across most authors except J.A. Huss. I knew that she would take my dislike and turn it into love, because this is what happens every time. She blew it out of the water this time! Pay attention to the ‘suspense’ label this book has because it’s no joke. This one is suspenseful!

This book tells the story of Indie, a Company child who Adam was convinced to purchase by McKay. She comes with a load of psychological training done on her. Adam purchases her to be a Company child and be trained to kill and run his jobs for him. That’s the first part of her life. Consequences from this overshadow the rest of the book.

There are three guys: Adam, the one who buys her, McKay, who convinces him to buy her, and Donavan. Each of them play their own role in her life. Adam is the stoic father, goes to church, and is the “owner” of her. McKay is her friend. He’s the one who raised her growing up, did things with her, became her buddy. Donavan popped by when he could and conducted sessions on her, training her mind and blocking what they needed. In turn, he became her confidant.

This book is told in the present and the past, with the past eventually catching up to the present. What helped make this book more interesting and less confusing with the multi perspectives was who told what part. When Indie shows up on his doorstep after four years, McKay tells the present. He does a lot of hinting toward the unknown of four years ago and her disappearance. Donavan’s chapters only focused on the session recordings and his notes. These chapters usually aligned with what was occuring in the book. Adam’s chapters focused on her past. When he saw her, bought her, and all the years following. His chapters are vital for seeing how the past played out and how they lead up to McKay’s chapters. Eventually the book catches up and we see Donavan and Adam in the present with Indie’s reappearance. Indie also tells the book in the past, but from a different parallel perspective to Adam.

This book is hard to explain without you reading it. See, there’s a fourth guy. Because while there are three wonderful men there with her, they are adults and she is a child. Indie falls in love with the boy next door and plays out her child and teen years with him. What happens with him also is vital in the reason for her running away. Her chapters focus on her life with him, and fighting the guys to be with him.

Needless to say, there is so much background of them all and the situation. By the time the end of the novel came, I was exploding.

What makes this book stand out so much is the lack of romance in it. As much of this book is told with her growing up, we get to see the forms bond between them all. It’s real love that is coming our way because I just read the deepest of loves: parental, sibling, friend, and lover, all mixed together for each man. Although there is some sex, it is such a minor aspect of this book. (Minor, as in not overshadowing the plot. One scene is vital to the plot.) The present focuses on answers, reconnecting, and setting up for the next book. Going back to the RH theme, maybe I typically dislike them because we’re so often thrown into them. This book builds such a deep relationship between them all that I would cry if this didn’t be RH. Funny, right? While reading, I fell in love with each of the guys. Because nothing happened for so many years, I saw how much they deeply cared for her and would do anything for her. Indie says so herself - she can’t just have one; she needs them all. She does. Because this isn’t another RH that focuses on sex and I don’t feel that she needs to choose just one. No, there is no just one for her. They are all equal in this, in their caring and love for her, and her them, that I would give up this series if only one guy was chosen. No one is more surprised to read this review than I am.

The plot of the book is unique, interesting, and captivating. I was fighting myself at work to not just ignore everything and read. I was so hooked by this book. This is 6 stars all the way!!! I think I need a physical copy of this one for my shelves.

Well, that was not a romance.

It was engaging, sordid and pulled me quickly in to a story that did not slow down. It was dark and intense. But romance is not quite a word I would use to describe this story. Told in present day and in flashbacks, Creeping Beautiful is the story of Indie Anna Accorsi, a child purchased to fill a role in the mysterious “Company”. At the age of ten, Indie is bought at auction and in a very “La Femme Nikita” manner, trained by her guardians to be an assassin. Indie is loved and protected by the people in her life: Adam, her disciplinarian and father figure; McKay, who showed her care and tended to her needs; Donovan, her therapist who manipulated her mind for her own good; and Nathan, the literal boy next door. But Indie had a past before she came to Adam’s home in the Louisiana bayou, one that even she doesn’t realize is programmed within her mind. Possibly by the Company, that shadowy organization that controls all of their lives. It all comes to a climax on her twentieth birthday.

I have mixed feelings about this story. One the one hand, I loved it. It was interesting and different and filled with twists and turns that made me unable to put it down. On the other….I’m not exactly sure how it ended! Was it a cliff hanger? Was it a “gotcha” ending? Frankly, I don’t know! One thing I did not realize going in was that this story is told in a world that already exists in other books. While I understood probably 90% of the story, I feel like there were some important points that I may have missed, or questions I had that may have been resolved had I been aware of previous plot points. This didn’t stop me from being thoroughly entertained. I’m just a bit bewildered. I can’t hold that against the author though. Her writing did its job of fully engrossing me in its pages.

JA Huss Creeping Beautiful

Creeping Beautiful has been one hell of an awesome ride, I can just imagine how twice of a mind-freaking-blowing the rest of this phenomenal series is going to be!!

OMG, I devoured this fabulous and unique read in less than 24 hours (no kidding). This is another mindbending masterpiece, and the begining of an amazing series that will stay with you for a long time.

An exceptionally well-crafted story, beautifully well-written, with compelling characters, an incredible world-building, and twists and turns that will leave you in awe. Author JA Huss is obviously a gifted writer that never ceases to amaze me.

Creeping Beautiful is intense, deeply moving, emotionally gripping, thought-provoking, engaging, captivating and highly entertaining. Indie, Adam, McKay, and Donovan's journey is filled with suspense, secrets, revelations, intrigue, lies, love and much more.

I wish I can give you more details, put I see that you already got plenty of it. Just know that this is an utterly amazing story that feels incredibly alive, and is a truly unputdownable masterpiece. A must read that left me wanting so much more, and yet content to see that this is just the begining of a phenomenal, wild journey!

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Note: Just so you know, you don't need to have read The Company series to start reading this book. However, after you're done with this story, you may be dying to read The Company of your own accord. And believe me, you're going to freaking loved it!!

Wow. I am definitely the minority here, so maybe just maybe this is a me thing and not the book thing. I don't know. All I do know is that my expectations going in were high (I mean, that blurb and cover...) and the book didn't reach those expectations. It makes me sad to have to leave a not so glowing review, especially when so many others loved the shit out of it.

Creeping Beautiful was a cherry breaker for me. I've never read J.A. Huss before this; therefore, I have nothing to compare it to. I'd like to say I would try this author again, but I honestly don't know if I will. It took me two weeks to finish this one. When I finish other books in between picking the book back up, that's most definitely not a good sign.

The book felt long and drawn out, even with the twists and turns. Which I'll admit were good ones. But overall, I felt for the length of the book, the pacing moved slow. There wasn't enough action. I say this because our characters were killers and cleaners, yet we never actually saw any of these missions. It was more of a tell than show. I wanted more from these scenes. I wanted to see "The Company" in action.

I get that Indie had amnesia after her "assignments". But I think it would of added a hell of a lot more to the story if we got to actually see how demented and dangerous Indie was, instead of just being told about it. She never seemed like the dark and deadly type. More like a teenager going through love and rebellion. Nothing about this story convinced me we had a cold blooded operative on our hands. There were sessions and tapes of Indie's hypnosis after her "trips", but none really disclosed anything, until the final chapters. So much potential in just these little tapes, yet was never fully executed.

I also wanted a little more back story on each character. When you get to the end, the author tells you the books you will find them in originally. Technically, this can be read as a standalone, but I felt a little lost. Maybe those who have read the others will like this one better, as they have a complete sense of the characters.

For me, this didn't really feel dark, forbidden, or taboo until about the 80% mark. I needed this aspect much sooner.

Due to all of this, I never really connected with any of the characters. Which made the ending a bit uncomfortable. This scenario is usually a hit or miss for me -adding in a spoiler tag - so for this I do not blame the author. That part is all on me.

I went with 3 stars because even though I didn't connect with the characters I still liked them well enough. Their secrets and the suspense is what kept me from DNFing.

Anyway, I hope if you decide to read this that you'll have a better time with it than I did.

Excited doesn't even start  to qualify my state as I am writing that review.

Do you remember the Company, Sasha, Nick, etc..? In creeping beautiful, we are plunged back into that madening atmosphere of killers, mental manipulation, conditioning, and such. Ah, do I like that universe.

Told in four points of view, that story kept me completely mesmerized from civer to cover. I definitely can't get enough of the way the author builds her stories, unveiling, revealing little bit by little bit the bigger picture. The mystery surrounding the dynamics between the four main characters, Adam, McKay, Donovan and India was masterly handled. It felt delicious to wonder about thr whys and hows, to connect (or not) with the men and their methods. I felt for the Indie right from the beginning, she is tough, smart, she adapts very well to the circumstances. The men intrigued me, all with their different personalities and surrounding the heroine.

It's very difficult to say anything more without spoiling the originality of the storyline. I really recommend that gripping reading. Enjoy!!!

4.5 Stars

Three vastly different Company men and one very dangerous young girl make up an extremely unlikely team of assassins. And they have been keeping some very volatile secrets... from the world... and from each other...

Indie Anna Accorsi was saved from certain death, but her training under the dark shadow organization known as The Company has turned her brain into... something else. And the only way to ensure she doesn't go from knowingly damaged to off-the-hinges insane is by feeding her thirst for violence... in a very controlled way...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Creeping Beautiful was the suspenseful, sexy and utterly engrossing introduction to the complicated relationship shared between Indie, Adam, McKay and Donovan. Indie is not the same young girl who was taken in by the dubious trio of men a decade ago. With their mission to help her live a stable, yet operational existence, she is sent on jobs to help to keep her fulfilled... and challenged just enough to slake her stronger urges. But when their complex arrangement changes into something much more carnal, nothing will ever be easy for the group again...
Indie Anna Accorsi is an enigma, and after her disappearance four years ago, the men who love her are left trying to piece together the Indie who has suddenly returned to their lives.
Adam Boucher, (Core) McKay, and Donovan Couture are not good men, but they have dedicated themselves to the role of taking care of Indie, for better or for worse. But when the boy next door threatens the life they have built for Indie, the truth of their feelings for each other will come out... whether they want them to or not. You see, Indie loves all of them equally... but so very, very differently...
Whew, the suspense and intricate storyline of this book had me absolutely glued to it's pages from the very beginning. From some literal palm sweating scenes, to a small taste of the sexiness that is to come, this story expertly laid the groundwork for what kind of craziness we can expect to come next in this series. From the relationship between the four main characters, their secrets that are believed to have been buried and forgotten, and the danger that certainly lurks for everyone involved, this book is a wild ride from beginning to end... and I’d do it all again...
The next book in this series is titled Pretty Nightmare, and is set to release in May 2020.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
This was … hmmm, okay … um …. OKAY, so what had happened was …. *looks around nervously* … I don’t fucking know, okay. I have no clue what I just read. I mean I knooooooow what I just read but …. I’m not sure. I know it is the beginning of something and that something is epically compelling and uniquely twisted. I am in awe. This is not a fluff piece. Your mind will always be engaged during your read. If you try and skim, you’ll have to go back so just don’t do it because there is not a single moment in this timeline that you will want to miss. Trust me on this. This book is mentally exhausting but worth it. I cannot stress this enough LOL IT IS WORTH IT.
This is just the beginning, but I wouldn’t wait for the books to be published before I started reading. This is an epic mind-fuck and you’re gonna want to breath between books #TRUST
Bravo, my mind is well and truly blown! A Brilliant, Mind-Bending Romantic Suspense! This is one twisted...roller coaster of a book. There are intersecting characters that show up in this spin-off of the company series among a few other characters but this is a completely new series and you DO NOT need to read any of the prior books to understand what is happening. Core McCay raised and trained her, Adam Boucher bought her yet calmed her and Donavan Couture was her protector yet could he be trusted? All of them had a part of molding Indie Anna Accors into the weapon she is today. A company player, an asset...an assassin but, behind it all she was still just a girl and they all loved her. Indie shows up at McKay’s after being gone for four years needing his help to find someone. He agrees but isn’t sure what’s truly going on or what memories helping her might unleash. “You’re not like other people. None of us are. We don’t fit in anywhere but in the world of the company.” This goes back and forth between a 14 year time period to give you the full story of all these characters and how they found their way into each others lives. Each gives a part of themselves to Indie that bonds them all together. Once you’re in “the company” you never really can leave...can you? My mind is blown with all the twists and information passing through this brilliant book. I really cannot say too much but get ready and enjoy! There are so many revelations unveiled with each turn of the page. I could not put this down! This does end leading into the next book. Told in multiple POV
Ummm... wow. My mind is mush right now. This book is definitely not a fairytale... or maybe it’s the flip side of the coin... Dark secrets? Check! Complicated half-truths and tangled lies? Check, check! Flawed, broken, yet strangely likable characters? Triple check! There isn’t much fluff in this one, and if I’m being honest, these are the books where I think Julie really hits her stride as an author. Don’t get me wrong. I love her lighter ones too. But these stories with their intricately tangled storylines, the ones where you might get one answer to every ten questions until you get to the end of the series? These are my favourite. They drive me crazy with guessing, and they keep me up thinking about them. But I’ll take the kind of book that I’m still thinking about weeks later over a forgettable one.
A huge standout for me about Creeping Beautiful (also - that name?! So great) is that when I started reading, I thought... how am I going to keep so many characters separate in my head? Surely they’ll just blur. But they didn’t. Adam, McKay, Donovan, and even Nathan, all have their own personalities which are built and explored to the point that you can definitely pick them apart in a line up.
And Indie. My goodness. Poor, damaged, sweet Indie. This book may have solved one part of the mystery, but it’s very clear that there’s a lot more to come in this world before we get any semblance of a happily ever after. And I’ll be sitting here on tenterhooks until that happens!
And we go again. J.A. Huss and that deliciously creative brain of hers has blown me away yet again with Creeping Beautiful. A story wildly intricate, you have to play very close attention to each and every word to truly understand just what has transpired. The way she gives each of her characters their 'time in the sun' so to speak with multiple POVs is utterly brilliant. You don't get lost when you should. You don't get confused when you would otherwise. Instead you are privy to a seemingly complicated tale that is ultimately a simply one as the story reaches its conclusion, because at the center of it all is the love for a woman named Indie by the men who adore her.
JA Huss Creeping Beautiful
Adam, McKay and Donovan. The three men who each have their role in the upbringing of a 10 year old name Indie Anna. We get to go back in time with some of their chapters, extracting info on the how and whys of Indie and her young past. All the while trying to figure out where she has been, in present time, and how their fractured, unconventional little family became that way.
I tell ya, I couldn't look away if I wanted to. I get so caught up in Huss's words and the way she meticulously weaves this story, throwing in tangents from prior books, allowing me to have more than one happy 'omg' moment as the puzzle pieces start to fall into place. It's a reading experience like no other.
With Indie at the forefront of this story, feeling all the affection, whether somewhat misplaced or not, her 3 men just want her safe and happy. All holding secrets of their own, the journey to true satisfaction for them all is filled with numerous detours, a ton of stops and starts and missteps. But I'm always intrigued to watch it all unfold in only the way Huss can deliver.
I won't and wouldn't give away anything more but to say: 'read it'. Get lost in Creeping Beautiful or actually any of Huss's books. They are unique, well thought out, smart and enticing. I am always at a loss for words as the last few pages are read except a few 'damns' thrown out because I can't believe how masterful a storyteller Huss is that she can tie up all the supposed loose ends in such a freaking incredible way.
Creeping Beautiful is haunting and real. It's crazy and confusing. But in the end, it is wonderful and is deserving of 5 huge stars!
Three hot men, one boy next door, and one white-hot mess of a girl create a ripe garden of possibilities in J.A. Huss’ Creeping Beautiful. The author’s superb scene setting, fantastically tormented characters, and intricately entwined plot make for the most enthralling reading. Just like the intriguing cover, Creeping Beautiful is filled with fabulous symbolism that kept me questioning everything and everyone from the start to the finish.
Indie, Adam, McKay, Donovan and Nathan’s story is told in multiple POV, and the timeline toggles back and forth from the present to various points in the past that have greatly affected the main characters. Interspersed in the narrative are a smattering of recorded conversations that add to the story and character development in addition to creating an interesting story layout. Ms. Huss provides an excellent backstory and character development. Creeping Beautiful is the perfect setup for a series without feeling like a series starter book, until the incredibly suspenseful cliffhanger ending.
Creeping Beautiful is definitely a standalone read, however, for long time fans, who have read the author’s prior work, you can see the parallel and concurrent timelines of various other stories via literary Easter eggs. This story left me (and clearly a few characters) wondering who is running the show, and whose version of reality is closest to the truth. The book left me thirsting for more, and I know that the author will fill my cup and then some as the series progresses.
Holy mind bend! My heart starting skipping a beat half way through..... So what do you remember about the Company? Well forget. Just put it out of your mind except for the shear mind bending that comes with knowing a "little" about them.
Creeping Beautiful takes us on a tale that only JA Huss can tell. We are walking along with people that we "KNOW" aren't quite right. We understand that anyone having anything to do with the "company" is going to be a little left of center.
We meet Indie, Adam, McKay, and Donavon.
Adam seems a little bored with his life but Donavon is young and has plan. If Adam would just go along with it. His plot goes in the toilet because Indie isn't who or what they thought she would and control is an issue. McKay seems to be everyone's constant protector.
Does anyone know anything about anyone? Is anyone telling the truth? Or is everyone leaving inside a secret.
Hands down one of her best story lines. It isn't a continuation of the Company books, so it is best to be read alone without thinking too much about what you already forgot.
Don't wait! Add this to your TBR shelf and pre-order it. It's worth the read.
This was pretty crazy!
This is definitely not a romance. At times I was wondering WTH?! Of course I know to expect some serious craziness since it's a "Company" Book.
I typically hate flashback type stories, but this one worked. All I can say is Indie is one messed up chic and these guys are all hiding things from each other.
Onto the next one to see how this can be fixed...
I think this book is definitely better read at least after the Company books. I am glad I have read all these interconnected books as it just makes them even more interesting. JA Huss is a mastermind with these!
Creeping Beautiful
Creeping Beautiful is set in the Company world. You DO NOT need to have read the other Company novels to absolutely fall in love with this book but for those of us who have read the Company novels, this is a hugely nostalgic read and it felt like coming home!
Julie’s writing style is so unique and her talent for dark is unrivalled, truly. Creeping Beautiful is a story that hooks you from page one and does not let go, staying with you far beyond the final words and leaving you waiting with baited breath for more.
Our new leading characters, Indie, Adam, McKay and Donovan bring to the table a mixture of insanity, intense emotions and each of them have a whole backstory full of dangerous secrets that will come back to haunt them.
This story is told from multiple points of view going backwards and forwards in time, always leaving a veil over the most important information so you are left wondering which puzzle pieces are missing.
I absolutely urge anyone and everyone to read this incredible start to the new series and wait (not so) patiently for what comes next in Pretty Nightmare.
WOW...…. Just...WOW!!!
J.A Huss has outdone herself with Creeping Beautiful, The Queen of mind blowing is back with a vengeance with this angst filled story of intrigue, suspense and mind bending twists that it will make you lose sleep wanting to devour this story without stopping.
I was hooked from the very first chapter and when I thought that I KNEW what was going to happen or what the outcome of a certain aspect was I get thrown for loop after loop with another plot twist and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!
This story is such and emotional rollercoaster I didn't know if I wanted to cheer, yell, cry and throw my kindle across the room and throw a tantrum myself... AND I WOULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!
I have a feeling this is just the beginning for Indie Anna Accorsi, McKay, Donavan and Adam and I cant wait to see how everything else will unfold.
Wow, Book to Brain overload...
JA Huss Creeping Beautiful
14 years and one giant organization covered in one read. No, we don’t have all or even many answers yet, but what we do know has my mind swimming with possibilities. I admit I started reading Huss after the Company, so I don’t have previous knowledge of all of these characters. I did read the Misters and Bossy series, that tells me this is going to be one twisted mind blowing ride. Adam, McKay, Donovan, Indie, they all make their way into your heart and it’s a good thing because then you can overlook or at least forgive their flaws. And they all have them. Lies, secrets, misconceptions, jealousy contrast the loving care, devotion, fun, and even a few sexy times this crew live through and I felt it all. I cannot wait for the next installment, but after the revelations at the end I am also going to have to read portions of this one again.
I don't want to give anything away, so I'm not going to. What I am going to do is just say like, Oh My Goodness.
This story has everything I always loved about JA Huss. My favorites of hers have been the Rook and Ronin/Company/321 type stories. This book ties into that world but can totally be read all on its lonesome.
There's a girl. There are 3 guys. She loves them all. They all love her. They all care for her in different ways. But she's not an ordinary girl. And these aren't average guys. They are the Company.
I loved loved loved this book. There are so many secrets and JA Huss is mastermind at secret telling. I kept thinking there couldn't be another surprise, but I was wrong! Right up through the epilogue, she was dropping bombs on me. I cannot wait for more!!
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
This story is just WOW! It is a suspenseful story to keep you on the edge of your seat until the end kind of story. The main characters are part of The Company that makes assassins. Adam has McKay, who was gotten for him when they were young so Adam would not be alone. Now Adam is looking for a young girl to train. On the island, there are many young girls to choose from but he knows which one he wants when he sees her.
Creepingly Beautiful was what came to mind when Adam first saw Indie Anna Accorsi. He knew she was the one he wanted to bring home. And everyone else was bidding on her too. But Adam got what he came after. She was 10 years old when she came to live with Adam and McKay. While Adam was her protector, McKay was her trainer and Donavan was the one to help keep her mind safe. And then there was Nathan St. James, the boy next door well he lived across the woods from them.
For years she would do a job, Donavan would talk to her and help her process things and Nathan would be her friend and then her boyfriend. Sometimes Indie would disappear but she couldn't remember where she went. It was like her mind was hiding things from her.
After being gone for four years, Indie finally comes back and the four are back together. And the things that happened and the reasons she left all come back. Can they help Indie remember without her losing her mind for good? Will She leave again when she learns the truth? Will they find out who was in control of her mind?
This was a mind-bending story that will have you glued to your kindle because you have to know what will happen next. It is a dark and twisted story and I want to see where book 2 goes.
If you are a fan of JA Huss you are going to LOVE this book. You don't just read a Huss book, you live it, you feel it, you emerge yourself in it. It takes you forever to get over the book hangover. Is it worth it? So worth it!
This is a very dark and twisted book but filled with love and hopefulness as well. You get the light and the dark, the good and the bad. It all has a balance. Which makes this book such an entertaining read.
You won't see the surprises coming. They will just jump right out of the book and smack you in the face. This sounds bad, but it isn't. If you love great suspense with so many twists and turns that you don't think you'll ever reach the other side, then this is the book for you.
I love that JA Huss uses words that would normally be off-putting. Nightmare, misery, and darkness. You might think this is horrible or tragic and then JA Huss, in her brilliance, makes the darkness beautiful. A pretty little nightmare. A gorgeous piece of misery. A mess of lovely darkness. She takes the broken characters and makes them beautiful in their own way.
As you can tell, I am not writing a book report for you. You can read the blurb and get an idea of what the story is about. What I am telling you is how this book made me feel and how amazing the writing is. I can't wait for the next book to come out!
I went into this not knowing what to expect... And what I got... Well, holy fucking shit. What a mind fuck... My head was reeling, my mind on overdrive. This was dark, twisted and kept me on the edge of my seat. I have read a few books by this author now and she never ceases to blow me away. Just when I thought I had things figured out for these characters, the author comes swooping in and throws me through a tunnel of twists and turns I didn't see coming.
This was full of angst, emotion, pain. suffering, hurt and passion and the suspense element had me crawling at these pages to get to the other. I honestly couldn't get it enough. It was an amazing feeling falling into this authors crazy, messed up, drama-filled, twisted and dark worlds she creates. It had been some time since my last book by her and now I feel I need to do a massive binge!
Flawless! So well written, flowed with ease which made it easy to fall into this plot and lose myself. I was at this author's mercy and I cannot wait for the next book!
First off let me say this was my favorite JA Huss novel so far. I am so awed by her writing. Every book seems to get better and better. She did such an amazing job by describing Indie from the get go in that snake cage. And the men. Holy smokes those guys were PERFECTION. Adam, McKay and Donavan were enigmas that you just didnt want to look away from. And how much they loved, protected and guided Indie into who she is now...MAN I LOVED IT! There were so many twists and I couldnt put this book down no matter how much sleep I needed. Also, from the beginning I noticed this was a story told in the world of The Company and I thought I would be lost since I havent read those yet. NOPE! And I also love that she wrote POV's for each person! I need the next book like, yesterday. 10 stars!
