This is more like a very short guide book to haunted locations in the south than a book of stories. There are 90 locations in it, I believe, listed in groups by state. Each location is given 1 to 1 1/2 pages for a very brief description of the most popular stories, and there is usually a photo on the page accompanying the description. So with about 170 pages (excluding photo credits and bibliography), you actually get about 85 or so pages of actual written pages.

Of those pages, Ms. Walker and Ms. Gary desperately need a new editor. There are some glaring grammar, spelling, and in some cases historical errors that could have been easily fixed by a good proofreader.

But, for what it is, it’s not a bad book. My family loves taking road trips, so I’ll probably end up giving this book to my kids as a jumping off point of interesting places to go see. But I definitely won’t have trouble sleeping tonight. It’s not that level of scary at all.

3.75 Stars... Ok so I normally would not rate these books, because well they are other people voices and for this book all the stories date back to 1700's and 1800's and passed down stories can be spun and stretched some, so to say I believe the stories well not for me to say. I do know like Blackbeard story was little farfetched. The one of Hank William's his last stay was not in Redmont Hotel, but in Knoxville, TN at the Andrew Johnson. His driver was taking him to concert, and he died on the way. The stories were fun to read, and you can use your own imagination on them. Overall, this was just a fun short read. Recommend to ghost lovers.

Would love to visit some of these places. Maybe experience some of the paranormal.
