For the past few years, April Johnson has watched her brothers and sister fall in love and marry, and now she wants that for herself as well.
When Noah Donner steps into April Johnson’s veterinary clinic a few days after Christmas in need of someone to adopt his ailing grandfather’s schnauzer, there is no way she can say no to those blue-green eyes and Captain America shoulders. Noah’s, not the pooch’s, although little Pookie’s eyes have her in a puddle, too. And it’s just her luck that the kind-hearted soldier is being deployed in a few weeks.
Noah is overwhelmed with gratitude when he learns April is visiting his grandfather while he’s away. And when the letters and care packages start arriving, Noah can’t help the feelings that grow for her. When he returns for the holidays and sees April in person, he gets to witness her generosity and smiles firsthand. She’s even more beautiful--inside and out--in person than she is in her letters. But has he misinterpreted her acts of kindness or could there be something more between them than peppermints and packages?
Marianne Rice writes small town contemporary romance and women's fiction. Her heroes are big and strong, yet value family and humor, while her heroines are smart, sexy, sometimes a little bit sassy, and are often battling a strong internal conflict. Together, they deal with real life issues and always find everlasting love.
When she’s not writing, Marianne spends her time drooling over shoes, eating chocolate, attending her children's sporting events, and when there’s time, relaxing with fancy drinks and romance books.
This was a great story to get you in the mood for the holiday season and I loved reading it. April and Noah meet when he brings his ailing grandfather’s schnauzer into her veterinary clinic to find someone to adopt Pookie. He's a Marine being deployed back to active duty. It was an amazing story that kept me engaged for the entire read and I loved it.

This was a sweet romance between a veterinarian and a Marine who is making sure his grandfather who has dementia and is being placed in a home and his grandfather's Miniature Schnauzer Pookie are taken care before he goes back to active duty. April moves into house with the dog and Noah lives there too when he's on leave, but they have separate rooms. I loved Noah's grandfather who loved his little dog and had plenty of stories to tell April about Noah. Noah and April correspond from a distance and become friends. I loved that she sent him monthly funny thoughtful gifts for obscure holidays. Her family is funny, loud, loving, and welcoming. I laughed and smiled reading this made for Hallmark holiday romance.
Welcome back to Wilton Hills with a new Holiday romance by Marianne Rice called "Peppermint & Packages." This is the third book in a three-book series and I absolutely loved it. The other two books are "Marshmallows & Mistletoe," and "Cocoa & Carols." I highly recommend all 3 as the stories tie into each other. I just wished that this series could continue with more stories.
Veterinarian April Johnson first meets Noah Donner when he comes into her clinic with his Grandfather's schnauzer, Pookie, to get him checked out in order to be re-homed. Noah is in the military and is going to be deployed and his Grandfather aka Popsis close to 90 and has started showing signs of Dementia. Pops is going to be going into a nursing home and Noah needs to find a home for Pookie. Luckily April is the answer to all of Noah's prayers.
Solid 4.5 star I loved Noah and April they are soo meant to be together but neither act on it and keep things as "friends" while she looks after his Grandfathers home and adopts Pops dog Pookie while Noah is overseas on active duty. There are loads of laughs ie the crazy holiday gifts as well as Aprils family as well as sadness of Noah's Pops condition, along with fun times (or not) with cute doggies as well as festivities galore! This is just such a sweet and funny read that you will definitely want to read it again. 💖

OMG I loved this Wilton Hills Christmas story. In this sweet holiday romantic read we meet April and Noah. It’s fun and loving and will leave you with a smile. I love the packages and letters that April sends Noah whilst he is deployed and it’s just the way they become friends first and how they interact that makes this such a heartwarming, feel good story.
I wish I could give it 10 starts because that's how much I enjoyed the book. This story had it all when it came to love and family. April and Noah may have kept their feelings from each other a little to long but it just made it all the better. The author has an amazing way of making you feel warm and fuzzy with how Noah described his love to April. Great book and perfect start to our holiday season. I only wish I had a Noah...darn that guy had everything a girl could or would want.
Peppermints & Packages is the third book in the "A Wilton Hills Christmas" series.

Sweet and Clean Romance This wonderful book is such a complete story. It has all the feels; a Marine, an ailing Grandpa, a big family with open arms, and dogs. Isn't that enough? It definitely left me with a smile in my heart. I have not read any of this series but think that I need to after reading this. I received this ARC book for free from Booksprout and this is my honest review.

Peppermints and Packages is book three of A Wilton Hills Christmas and is April and Noah's story. This is a sweet, heartwarming Holiday romance. I loved the way April and Noah exchanged letters and packages while Noah was deployed. I really enjoyed reading this well written, beautiful love story and I look forward to reading more books by this author in the future. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
April is the veterinarian who takes care of Pookie, who belongs to Mr. Donner. Noah is Mr. Donner's grandson, home between deployments as a Marine. Grandpa is headed into a nursing home due to his worsening dementia. April is going to keep Pookie, rent his house, and visit him in the home. She writes letters to Noah when Grandpa can't, and begins to send care packages from home. This is a beautiful and heartwarming story. Neither April nor Noah is looking for love or a relationship. Love has another idea. They are good people, who begin to care for each other a great deal, despite the fact that they've never even gone on a date. Just like we learned in the last book, her family is incredible; they're loving, caring, full of surprises. This is a must read for the holiday season.

I thoroughly enjoyed April and Noah's story. This book is a sweet romance with lots of cute moments. The premise intrigued me and I enjoyed reading the development of April and Noah's relationship. The care packages sent by April to Noah were thoughtful and fun. Once Noah returned home, I really enjoyed all of April and Noah's interactions, from the card games to going skiing to breakfast, they built their relationship while dancing around their growing feelings for each other. The romantic tension was present throughout the book and you couldn't help but want to snap them out of their insecurities so they could get together already!
The supporting characters were hilarious and added a lot to this story.
If you are looking for a Christmas themed romance, you should give this well-written book a try. There's no sex scenes and no overly descriptive kissing scenes, but there are lots of laughs and sweet moments.

I love how this author writes small town romance. This book, the third in her Wilton Hills Christmas stories, is such a beautiful read. The letters and packages back and forth while the hero was deployed were such great snippets of what was to come. Wonderful families, fun banter, small children and dogs, and lots of love between all. That's what Marianne Rice does best.

I love books with characters in the military and books with pen pals, and this book has both! Plus, add a grandfather, a cute dog, and a welcoming family, all great additions to the story, and you can't go wrong!
I had never read a book by this author before, but I really enjoyed it and look forward to more.
A sweet romance novel. Really enjoyed this one because it did not go through the cliched some kind of horrible mishap/misunderstand happens that tears then apart before they get there HEA.
This was a great book about April and Noah, it seems that they both needed each other. Noah's in a bind and news someone to take this grandfather's dog. He is deployed but finds out that April is visiting his grandfather while he is good.
