Destructively Alive

Rate this book
You would think that the justice system would be a safe place. You would think that when a crime is committed and reported, it would be handled, and justice would be served. It is naïve to have those thoughts. Just ask Calla Lily Enya, a Fire Investigator for the St. Louis Fire Department. Not only has she helped lock away arsonists, but she has dedicated her life to protecting her city from one of the worst types of criminals that always seems to slip through the cracks of the Police Department. Sexual Predators. Fed-up with the failing justice system, Calla Lily takes matters into her own hands executing justice the only way she knows how. Fire.

Wow! It was such a good story, I can't wait to read more from this series. Not a genre I normally get into but I liked the flow and direction of the story and think this will definitely be a successful series.

Can’t put it down intensity!

Elle C manages to create an atmosphere of constant “edge of your seat” intensity, that makes it very difficult to put down. An awesome beginning to this characters story. I don’t want to wait for the next one. I’m ready to read it now!!

What a read!

As someone who has studied fire science, went through the fire academy, and has dealt with some of the things written here, about the side no one sees; how women are treated in both Fire and police roles, it was nice to see it brought out into the light. This was a great read from the start, love the talk of smoke patterns and the twists and turns of the story! I definitely recommend this book!

Okay I just finished ... Read the entire book in one sitting. Couldn't put it down and now its 2am and I have work in the morning lol. The twists at the end were flawlessly executed and all the loose ends were tied up with a neat little bow. Love.

What an intense & thrilling debut novel from Elle C! You won't be able to put this down once you start reading! I'm not typically a fan of serial killer/murder genres, but this is so much more than that - fire, justice, and the complexities of our society. I can't wait for more!

And this is an author with a purpose. She's pledged to donate a portion of book sale proceeds to Safe Connections, a St. Louis organization that supports victims of domestic and sexual violence, and works to prevent and put an end to these crimes.

Truly, a great book from an author that understands and supports an important cause.
