Wyatt Tabor is feeling the pressure. His wealthy parents won’t support him unless he settles down and commits to the family business, while his ever-patient, loving grandmother longs to see him fall in love and be happy. After a broken engagement, he’s not sure he’s ready to trust someone else with his heart. With Gran’s 90th birthday party coming up, he cooks up a scheme that he hopes will appease his family and give her a drama-free celebration.
Serving up coffee was never Chrissy’s idea of a dream job, but she’ll do whatever it takes to help her sister afford the medication she needs. When a handsome, smooth-talking customer offers to pay her to pose as his girlfriend, she can’t help but say yes. After all, it’s only for one night. What could go wrong?
Wyatt and Chrissy soon realize their feelings for each other are anything but pretend. When family dramas and class differences pull them apart, they must decide whether to walk away, or take a leap of faith and risk everything for love.

I started out really liking the characters in this book and wanted to see what happened to them, but I was disappointed in the book.
Things I liked: Chrissy, even with her strange colored hair and nails, was so caring and worried about her sister. I really liked how she did all she could to help her family when times were hard. Wyatt was actually sweet even though he came from such a messed up family. I did appreciate how he finally did stand up and do the right thing even when he knew it was unpopular. I did like Emma. And two of Wyatt’s sisters. And Gran was sweet too.
Things I didn’t like: This is supposedly a Christian book, and there were a few references to God, a few half-prayers, a mention of going to church, but that’s about it. No praying over the situation, no seeking guidance about what to do. Nope, it was more of a nod to Christianity, but we can handle things on our own sort of book. Wyatt pays Chrissy to pose as his girlfriend for his grandma’s birthday so Gran will be able to enjoy the day without everyone getting on to Wyatt about needing to get married. While I may not approve of that, it wasn’t bad, and nothing happened between them. However, the charade goes on far too long. There are kisses that, while not too detailed, are more than I care to read. They’re the kind that “curl your toes” whatever that is supposed to mean. And they “deepen the kiss” which always makes me roll my eyes. And the couple are sure they are meant for each other because they “have chemistry.” HUH??? So, “chemistry” is all that is needed for a good marriage? Hardly! There is no considering the other’s character, or their walk with the Lord. It’s just “chemistry” and an “I-can’t-get-them-our-of-my-mind” sort of thing.
There is some talk about guys playing a game without their shirts on, an ex-girlfriend who comes into the picture and causes trouble, and a time where Chrissy and Wyatt need to communicate and talk about some things, but Chrissy won’t.
Not a favorite, and I probably won’t be rereading this book though I’ve enjoyed other books by this author.
Chrissy, Emma, and their mom had been taking care of each other pretty much Chrissy’s entire life. Because that is what family does. With Emma’s health issues, they had made choices to stick together and pool their limited resources. I loved seeing the closeness of their family and the relationship they had and the way they were so open and honest with each other. No secrets.
In this touching story, Chrissy and Wyatt had known of each other for several months as he came to her coffee shop but they didn’t know each other personally and had never really spoken beyond the placing of his order. So when he asked her out of the blue to be his date for his grandmother’s birthday, she was stunned and quickly declined. I’m so glad that accepting his offer was not something she did right away. Her hesitation made me appreciate and admire her all the more.
Chrissy was very protective of Emma, both her health and her heart. She had sacrificed so much for her sister over the years and didn’t even realize it. To my mind, that is the best kind of sacrifice – the kind that does it and doesn’t dwell on it. The way Jesus told us to not let the right hand know what the left is doing.
Wyatt had a noble dream but it involved going against what his parents expected of him. Despite growing up “privileged” and never experiencing the lack of anything money could buy, he didn’t really care about money.
This is the third book in the Brides of Clearwater series but can definitely be read as a stand-alone. I did not read the first two books but had no trouble diving into Chrissy’s story and thoroughly enjoying it. The book is well-written with a nicely paced plot and lovely endearing characters. If you enjoy sweet romance and happily-ever-afters, you will enjoy this book.
Chrissy is a sweet, kind, tender-hearted older sister trying to make ends meet so that her younger sister can have a healthy and meaningful life after surgery. Chrissy, her sister, and her mom are tightly knit though they struggle financially. Wyatt is from a rich entitled family and manages his father’s country club though he has his heart set on opening up a rehabilitation stable to help people who are hurting. Wyatt is thoughtful, generous, and loving and though his relationship with Chrissy starts in a non-traditional way, they both fall for each other pretty quickly. They are very different in their upbringing and how they “look” on the outside, but are clearly soulmates and I really enjoyed how the author brought them together despite obstacles in their way.
Such a fun book! Now to go back and read the other two books.....
I received a copy of the book from the author and was under no obligation to post a review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
This is a story of the haves and the have nots. Chrissy never went to college, works as a coffee barista, and lives with her mom and sister. She helps support the family due to her sister’s heart transplant and subsequent medication costs. Wyatt comes from a multi-million dollar family, and manages the country club that his parents own. Their only common thread…the coffee shop where Chrissy works. Frustrated with his parents’ nagging about finding a potential wife, Wyatt offers to pay Chrissy to go to his Gran’s birthday party. He thought that would get them off his back. Things don’t follow that plan and situations snowball into Wyatt and Chrissy having feelings for each other. Will they ever be able to bridge the social status gap to find common ground and happiness? This was an enjoyable light read and I recommend it for fans of clean Christian romance. I received an ARC of this book from the author, but that in no way influenced my review.
Wyatt's grandmother asked him to bring a date to her 90th birthday party and he's not dating anyone, so her offers barista Chrissy money to pretend to be his girlfriend. She accepts because of her sister Emma's medical expenses. But they are from two different worlds. Wyatt's father is a multi-millionaire and Chrissy, Emma, and their mother struggle to pay their day-to-day expenses. But Chrissy makes Wyatt believe in love again after he was burned by his ex-fiance. And Wyatt makes Chrissy dream of a family and home of her own. I loved that Wyatt wants to start a charity with horses. Emma and Wyatt's sister Bonnie were great and I'd love to read their romances.
Billionaire books are a dime a dozen with sex being highly over rated and detailed. Melanie's books are able to keep the readers attention w/o details of sex. In this day and age, I find an author that can accomplish this to be highly regarded as THE BEST AUTHOR OF ALL TIMES! The world needs this type of writing as each day the world seems to get too much exposure to the parts of unrealistic expectations of love and live. This author should be praised for writing books that can hold the readers attention and that can make readers visualize themselves being the main characters!!
This is a sweet inspirational story about two thirty-year-olds reluctant to give relationships a chance. Chrissy and Wyatt meet at the coffee shop that Wyatt frequents and strike up a casual friendship. This friendship soon leads to more when Wyatt asks Chrissy to pose as his fake girlfriend at a family reunion. I enjoyed this lighthearted clean read and I appreciated Wyatt's desire to choose God's best in his life and relationship.
I received an advanced copy from the author. This review is my honest opinion.
Marrying Chrissy (Brides of Clearwater #3) by Melanie D. Snitker – This series is on kindle unlimited. Chrissy is just working at the coffee shop when one of her regulars volunteers her to be his date to his grandmother’s 90th birthday party. Wyatt may have paid his barista to be his date to appease his grandmother, but as he spends more time with Chrissy he finds himself falling for his fake girlfriend! Violet should be grateful she isn’t my sister because I would not have been that nice! Happy Reading!
Chrissy has such a loving family and she will do anything for them. Wyatt not so much but, he loves them especially grandma. She was a hoot. A phone call while at the coffee shop turns into an opportunity for them both. Can this turn into more? Some angst but loved the relationship Chrissy and Wyatt build. Forgiveness and listening are two elements of this book. Love this series and this one is my favorite.
A woman who works in a coffee to make ends meet and help to pay for her sisters medical bills. A man who wants for nothing except a date for his grandmothers 90th birthday party. Cue a unique first date which costs Wyatt £500 and helps Chrissy pay some of the medical bills. However; life is never quite that simple. What happens next is the story of a woman who has nothing but love to offer and a man who may lose everything if he gives her that love.
I love how truly realistic and detailed this story was. The journey of the relationship was real—slow and hopeful—not one day meeting each other and the next day kissing like so many books write about. I loved Chrissy’s personality—her loving relationship with her sister and mother was so endearing. Wyatt was such a gentleman and a hard-working hero. His kind, easy-going way was so refreshing. This was a delightful story to read—excellent plot!
This was a fun fake dating romance. I enjoyed watching these two people bond and actually grow to care for each other. By the time the family reunion rolled around, Wyatt knows that he would actually like to see if a real relationship with Chrissy is possible. She is reluctant to trust her heart to Wyatt even though she definitely feels drawn to him, too. But, they have some hurdles to overcome before they can find happiness together.
Melanie Snitker has done it again! Book 3 in the Brides of Clearwater series is a great read. Nothing like pressure from your family to find "the one". And when you think you've found that person, part of the family does not approve. So the decision: marry for love or marry because Mama and Daddy have selected someone they like.
I love Marrying Chrissy. I love ALL of the Brides of Clearwater! And the stories are even better when you read the series a second time since you now know the OTHER characters and THEIR romances. It’s a bit like a family reunion! And I’d say that Chrissy and Wyatt are one of my favorite couples... But... Honestly ;o) they are ALL my favorite!
I loved this beautiful romance about working through differences to find true love. The story was well crafted with an intriguing cast of characters especially that of Gran. I recommend this book to those who love sweet romance.
This is a beautiful and uplifting romance with charming characters and surprisingly fun moments that will have you laughing and hopefully believing in true love again.
This book was amazing. I did not want to stop reading it. There are struggles and suspense and comedy in this story. Wyatt's parents can be snotty and condescending. Gran is a special lady. Emma is sick often and they are always worried about her.
