“There’s no time. Remember Marcellus.”

Since the Null’s defeat, the land of Ferron had known peace under the guiding hands of the Conservatory of Mages.

After he earned his name in battle, Vian the Scarred set out on every mission the Conservatory put before him. Yet, no amount of hunting monsters or fugitive Nulls could quiet the fitful yearning of his heart.

Until Marcellus came and imbued Vian’s life with his golden glow...for a time.

Set on the path of an unknown monster, Vian hunts with a ferocity that feels misplaced while vivid flashes of golden hair catch at the edges of his dreams. Fulfilling the Conservatory’s orders has always been his life’s work, but this time the demands of his heart might win out if only he could remember.

Marcellus is the fourth book in the multi-author series, Beyond the Realm: Remember. Each book is set in its own world and can be read as a standalone novel. Join eight authors on eight very different, romantic, and magical stories as each one writes their own take on the same concept.

Now this is what I was referring to about "beyond the realm"! You have warriors, mages, werecreatures, and witches. I loved the lost love story and forgotten memories. Looking forward to the next book.

I would love to read this story as a full novel with the world-building and romance more fleshed out. I liked what I read, but I wanted more. There is a lot of untapped potential here. I don't know if we'll ever get more in this world, but I'll read it if we do. Since this is marked as the first of a series, I'll be hopeful.

The story in itself was good, but this one was the only book in the series that left me wanting more. And I mean not in a "this was so good I need more" kind of way but in a "this was good but there should be more yet there isn't " kind of way.
I wish it was longer, had more background and maybe more closure? It felt like a snippet of a bigger story, with a hint of what was and what would be, but no clue if we're ever going to see it.

This story had great potential but as is, it felt a bit flat. Marcellus has good characters, a good start to an interesting world and a good adventure but it definitely needed to be longer to give more depth to everything. This was another story where I felt like I was dropped into something already ongoing but I missed it all. There were a few things left hanging so I'm hopeful the author will pick this world up again and give me more. I could have really loved this one.

HEART'S FLAME was a very unique fantasy romance novella and I liked it, especially because it's rare to come across an enemies to lovers romance that goes as hard as the love interests slicing each other up with swords and nearly killing each other at the beginning of the book. With some fated mates and instalove thrown in, this was a quick read with an intriguing world and easy romance. I would love to read more about these characters.

This had an awesome set up and cool story line for a short story. I loved meeting Morovian and Marcellus, and their challenges were well written. I wish there was a part 2 or sequel to this book because I would love to see them battle Vian’s mom and win. Overall, great addition to the series.

I read this book back when it was called Marcellus and was part of the beyond the realm: remember series. I had rated it 3 stars, written no review. It was again in my kindle, renamed, and I couldn't remember reading it so I gave it a shot. I didn't like most of the books in the beyond the realm series, so maybe I was in a bad mood or something, why not? After all, I usually like Michelle's books.
I think I was on to something. Here, half the plot happens before the story starts, and our main character doesn't remember. What annoys me is the way the past events (those that happen before the book) were handled. It is kind of like:
"Oh, this happened, do you remember?". "No, I don't"
Or:
"Oh, I now remember this, I had forgotten!"
We are told things happened. We don't get many scenes that would be important for Vian or Marcellus, or their development as a couple. We get told they happened. It's a bit annoying, kind of like switching a channel and landing on the middle of a movie, where characters reference past events but you didn't get to see them. In this case, however, we don't get the first half of the book.
It could have benefitted from some flashbacks, to be honest.

Remembering Marcellus.. He is not the Enemy, but a perfect love.

This is the fourth book of Beyond the Realm, Remember serie.

Broke my heart when Vian didn't know who he was battling against was meant to be the love of his life due to memory block.
But thankfully, love always conquer all.

Two warriors on opposite side in different time with swords and magic was a great story for the Marcellus book of this serie.
Marcellus is a perfect man for Vian because of patience and strong soul to be around for Vian who struggled to know what are lies and what are truth.
Coren and his mate, Lacin should have a book of their own because I'd love to see how they came to be in the first place.
Would also like to find out more about Marcellus' sister who apparently wasn't where or what Marcellus thought she was.

Can't wait for the next book in the Beyond the Realm, Remember serie to see what the next author comes up with!

Great premise 3.5*

I love the storyline in this book, the fourth in the Beyond The Realm: Remember series. I think I could also love Marcellus and Morovian as MCs if they had a bit more depth. There's the beginning of some seriously good world building, too. My problem is that I find myself a bit disappointed that it's a little 2D for me...although I do appreciate it's so difficult to achieve perfectly well-rounded characters, detailed plots, etc, in a short story. I believe this would be a great read as a full length novel, so I guess what I'm feeling is short changed...unless this is a prequel and we're going to see more of Marcellus and Vian. 3.5*

Marcellus is set in a world of magic, wereshifters, and fantasy in Book 4 in the Beyond the Realm: Remember series. Each one can be read as a stand-alone and Michelle Frost did a wonderful job writing Marcellus. The world building, Marcellus, Vian, and secondary characters created a compelling world that I got lost in. The ending was a HFN and left the possibility for more in the series. I really hope she expands on this world because I would love to know what happened with Vian's mother and if they succeed in winning against the Conservatory! Great fantasy read that everyone will enjoy.

Hearts and flames

“We’ve been on a bumpy road you and I, but I have to believe that we’re still standing at the beginning of it.” Gah, I adore Marcellus and Vian. I really hope this is the start of something more as I want more of this world and them. The action, mystery, magic and characters sucked me in from the first page and although I wanted to scream at some witches *ahem* people, I couldn’t put it down. Marcellus and Vian are unforgettable.

Good but not great story. This was an interesting way to enter a story, but I'm not sure the style is for me. The story start after the main characters have met, been in a relationship and one of them has had his memory erased. Leading them to "meet" in a battle to the death. This threw me more than I would have liked. I never really felt their relationship was that stable/strong. I realize this is more a reaction based on my expectations than a real value judgement on the style.

Vian ❤ Marcellus

These guys and thier family really pulled at my heart strings. They all went through something awful but Marcellus lost his love not once but twice. The love green these two men was so easy to see. This was a very short story but super awesome. Michelle is amazing and I can't wait to see what she has us next!! ❤😀

Short but good

I liked how the series theme was incorporated. There’s enough world building to not be lost but I’d like to know more. There are a few questions I have about events and could see this being expanded into a series. We are missing seeing the feelings grow but I still bought the connection.

It was nice enough but it felt like so many of the cool stuff happened long ago and they were just described and the emotional impact of a lot of scenes were undermined because of that and it also felt like the story was almost boring or the intermission between bigger stories where not much happened or changed...

Hope this is the first of more

One of the things that I’ve enjoyed about reading thus collection of books is that they are all kind of set up to be the intro into a series. Crossed fingers that this is true for Marcellus.

Marcellus and Vian

I loved this book so much and am so sad it was so short. Marcellus and Vian had an unbreakable connection that no matter how many times someone tried to break it, they forged their way back to one another. I love a great paranormal book and this is one of them!

the world had intrigue, I liked the two main characters, tho overall I would have like to see more. of them and the actual enemies part, I don't know, a better conclusion, tho I guess that's more about if there will be a sequel or not, over anything else.

Good read

Don't get me wrong I did like this book but not my favourite in the series. I was a little disappointed as I usually love books written by this author.

I liked the story even if it was too short.
many parts could have been developed and lengthened, many actions are told in just a few pages and the character / emotions could be deepened

Okay

A lot of missing history that made it hard to keep up with the story. But it still was a okay read.

WOW!! So Good!!

Well written story and well developed characters! I love the thought of a soul mate or Heart's Flame! These two have a very rough journey but the hearts know!
