All worlds collide in this gripping series finale!
Russia stands on the brink of a new era–their President riding high in popularity, and this no longer merely in her own nation.
As political and economic worlds zone in on Rome, host of a significant conference, so do the Russian President’s enemies. Her first international trip makes her more vulnerable than ever.
Yet she’s ready for them. Even British MI6 have been tasked with keeping her alive, for now. Will they see this through? Can the President trust anyone?
From the International Bestselling author of The Tablet, comes the concluding instalment in his much loved Hunt series.
Tim has been married to his wife Rachel since 2001, and they have two daughters. He lives in Tallinn, Estonia, having moved there with his family in 2012 from St Petersburg, Russia, which they moved to in 2008. He is originally from Kent in England and lived for eight years in Cheshire, before moving abroad. As well as writing the novels that are already published (plus the one or two that are always in the process of being finished) Tim enjoys being outdoors, exploring Estonia, cooking and spending time with his family.
The Last Tsar - well, the name does suggest something different and interesting may be coming in this instalment. This is the last book in 'The Hunt' series, so quite a lot of questions will be wrapped up here. However, this is not a 'happily ever after' type novel, and there are plenty of things left up in the air as well. Just as well I don't like those fake-sounding 'everything ends all happy-as-roses' tales. Because nothing ever really turns out that way. So this was an enjoyable ending to an exciting and entertaining series. If you haven't read 'The Hunt' series yet I highly recommend it: spies, murder, intrigue, and Russian politics are thrown together in a way that will keep you hooked from the first page to the last. It is an epic thrill ride on a scale matched only by the pockets, and egos, of the oligarchs who are the architects of 'The Hunt'. A received an advanced review copy of this book, and this is my unbiased and honest opinion.
This year I couldn't wait for this last book of "The Hunt" Series, Number 9, "The Lost Char"!!!! It was like I knew how it will be! Captivating, full of last surprises and as the last book of the series just with the perfect ending! Tim Heath's books just just amaze me and they are also a good material for blockbuster movies. Anyone who loves twists, political thrillers, gut unputtable down stories then must give this series a try!
This is Tim's best novel yet. A great end to a gripping series. I was wondering how he'd bring all the sub plots of the different characters to a close but he did so with a clever twist which made for a satisfying and exciting end to this brilliant series. Well done Tim!
Greatly enjoyed this fictional prediction of life in post-Putin Russia. Imaginative and intriguing plot building on DNA-based consequences of the assassination of the Romanovs in 1918. A tense and gripping finale.
This has been a fantastic series, right the way through the 9 volumes. The conclusion completely delivers. The ends of the various intrigues finally get tied up, although not completely, and this is an aspect which makes it even better for me. I love being to able to imagine various possibilities myself . The exploration of the end of the Romanov was wonderfully exploited. This is a series that I konw I will read over and over, the subtleties of the plot ensuring that I am sure to see different aspects. Definitely a one click book.
Great finale to the series. Highly recommend reading the series in order to fully understand all of the subtleties of the story. Some great twists in the story and it became a book that was impossible to put down. Finding out what happens to Alex, Sasha, Anissa, and President Volkov override the need for sleep! Weaving in the history of the Romanov dynasty adds interest to the story and a plausible sub-plot.
So excited to finally have the last in the series out with my team of advanced readers as we approach publication! The book is available on pre-order, downloaded automatically to your device on the 4th December.
So why did I decide to call time on such a much-loved series? I think good things do need to come to an end, and it offers the chance of an epic end to things without the need to keep things open. Literally, anything can happen! It also gives me the chance to get back to stand-alone novel writing again for a season, something I'm known for and the means by which most of my readers discovered me.
So what's next? I've already written that novel, which releases early next year (and will also be on pre-order very soon, at a ridiculous price if you get it early) and it's called The 26th Protocol. I wrote it the first week of lockdown here in Estonia, back in March 2020. It's all my usual style set in a dystopian future.
