Skye Perry and Lucas Lee each have their reasons for sneaking in through the back door of the Pinwheel Plant Shop to attend a macramé class.
Since her divorce, Skye goes nowhere without her dog, Rooster, and he’s technically not allowed in the shop. Lucas (aka Lee Stone), well, he’s a famous rock star lying low in Braverton until his stalker goes on trial in California.
When Lucas’ therapist suggests he enroll in a crafty class to take his mind off his trauma, he waits until the last minute and is stuck taking macramé (whatever that is) in the suburbs. Lucas expects his classmates to be women of a certain age. Instead, he’s pleasantly surprised to find himself tying knots with a cute dog trainer who has no idea who rocker Lee Stone is.
Skye would be perfectly fine hanging out in her studio apartment with Rooster or spending all her time at Girl’s Best Friend—her dog adoption center specifically geared toward female identifying clientele. But her mom thought it was time she met some new humans and gave her a gift card to the Pinwheel for Christmas, so Skye signed up for a class. After Rooster falls asleep under Lucas’ chair, Skye considers that maybe she was meant to meet just this one special human.
Falling hard and fast for one another, Lucas and Skye throw caution to the wind and go on a date in public even though they’re risking the wrong people discovering where Lucas is.
When the inevitable happens, can the dog trainer and the rock star untangle themselves from their pasts to be together, or will they leave each other hanging?
Roxie Clarke writes low-angst sweet and clean small town romance featuring hunky heroes and happily ever afters. She lives outside of Portland, OR with her husband and their five kids. It is loud at her house.
Skye and Lucas are stealthily sneaking into the Pinwheel Plan Shop for a macramé class through the back door. They really do both have a reason! Skye Perry goes nowhere without her dog, Rooster, to keep her safe, and he’s technically not allowed in the shop. Her mother insisted she get out and meet some humans and gave her the gift card for this class. Lucas Lee -- now known to the public as Lee Stone, lead singer of Harmonia’s Uncle – is a famous rock star trying to keep out of sight in Braverton for the next 6 months until his “stalker” goes on trial in California. As for the class, Lucas’ therapist had recommended he enroll in a craft class to take his mind off his trauma – and macramé was all that was left to sign up for.
To Lucas’ delight, however, Skye has no idea who rocker Lee Stone is! Since he can relax around her, and since her dog fell asleep under Lucas’ chair (a sign that they were destined for each other), they give in to their attraction and go on a date in public. This is probably not a well thought out plan, however, since they risk the wrong people discovering where Lucas is. But being with Skye is so relaxing for him. When he is “found out”, Skye broke up with him, feeling she was partly to blame somehow. But who leaked the information? Or did it really matter now since Lucas was leaving now that mobs of reporters were everywhere trying to get the scoop! Lucas had arranged for Erica Snyder of “Good Morning Northwest” to interview Skye. She would be fair to her and it may take pressure off Skye so the others would back off. Erica’s questions drew out the fact that Skye loved him before she ever know he was a rock star. Then Erica pulled out her cell phone and played back an interview with Lucas where he said he loved her too! Was it too late for Skye to get to the airport and tell him she didn’t want to lose him?
This was such a cute story. What a difference they made in each other’s life without even trying. Would Skye get to the airport in time? Or would they return to their former lives instead? Grab your copy and find out what Fate has waiting for them!
Skye and Lucas met at a macramé class. He was looking for something to calm him after a celebrity stalker had pointed a gun at him. Skye had a dog rescue and training facility and suggested that maybe a dog would help the PTSD a lot, too. They hit it off right away but then trouble in the form of paparazzi happened. The characters were open and very likeable. The situations were realistic. The banter and feelings made me smile a lot. A wonderful good natured story.... then again, dogs are involved. Go Moonbeam and Rooster!

This is the story of Skye and Lucas.. He is a rock star in Braverton to lay low until his stalker goes on trial. Skye has a dog adoption center and is happy spending time with her dog Rooster. Her mom wants her to meet other people and Lucas needs to do something to get his mind off the incident. They’ve both signed up for a craft class. The moment they meet they feel an instant attraction. Where will this go? I enjoyed this fun, sweet romance. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book five of the Old Town Braverton series and tells the story of an unusual pairing. Skye Perry runs a dog rescue kennel and training for people who identify as female. She also stocks her office area with everything you could possibly need for a new pet. She fundraises for the money to run the kennels and has a couple of other women who help her out with day to day jobs. She has a dog called Rooster, who suffers from a bit of anxiety, so when she signs up for a macramé class, she asks if her dog can come with her, as he doesn’t like to stay home alone. Lucas Lee aka Lee Stone a famous rock star, is staying at his mother’s home, suffering from anxiety attacks and possibly PTSD after a deranged and obsessive fan decided to break into his home and then force him to eat a Thanksgiving meal she had made for him! He hasn’t dealt with it well and the fact a lot of the press and people on social media making light of the situation and making fun of him instead of sympathising.
He starts to see a therapist and they suggests he starts a crafty class and leaving it to the last minute, he finds the only class available is a macramé one at the local Pinwheel Plant Shop. When he calls to enrol, he asks questions about their security and whether he can come in via the back entrance, and also who else might be there. He is trying to stay undetected by the media, while he is at his mother’s and doesn’t want to have his location revealed. Luckily it should only be the teacher and a couple of women, one who is elderly and wouldn’t know who he is. As it works out, it is only Lucas and Skye, who he nearly knocks out with his motorcycle helmet, when her dog brushes against his leg, while he waits outside the back door of the shop. Apologies are given and Layla lets them in. She knows exactly who he is, but Skye has no clue. Her own mother had bought her a gift card for the shop, in an effort to get her out of the flat and to interact with other humans rather than just dogs.
They all sit together at one end of the table for the lesson and Rooster actually curls up under his seat rather than Skye’s, which is a bit of a surprise for him. He insists on walking her across the road to her flat afterwards, since it is quite late. Their first attempts at making a plant holder were pretty bad, but the next week Layla has them making a dog lead, which is much simpler and enjoyable. Being treated as just another normal guy, is a nice change for Lucas and she seems to know what he needs, as she deals with women who may have been abused or escaping a dangerous situation, in her dog adoption center. They both fall quickly for each other and when her employee sees her happy face the next day and questions her, Skye describes her new ‘friend’, and he is instantly identified by her worker. Skye still doesn’t reveal that she knows who he is, when they next meet, leaving it to him to let her know when he is ready to. She even manages to get him to adopt an older dog called Moonbeam. They decide to go out for a simple meal in town, even though it risks him being discovered, but think they have got away with it, until the next morning!
Skye suddenly has the media on her doorstep and instead of being able to see Lucas to speak to him in person, the court case against his stalker has been brought forward and he needs to go back home straight away. One of the local press is a family friend of Lucas’ and persuades Skye to speak to her, after showing she is being truthful about knowing Lucas from childhood, and also having spoken to Lucas beforehand. She has an agreement with him to never let his presence at his mother’s home be revealed, unless he speaks to her first. Skye gets interviewed and gets to hear Lucas’ comments about her and she realises she needs to see him. Whether she can gets past all the press by her place and catch up to him, is another thing. She also needs to get past all of his protection. A quick conclusion to this tale and a nice surprise. This author is still relatively new to me, and I really enjoy her writing style. It's laidback, and I can visualize the characters and what's going on with them. In this story, we have a hero and heroine who both appear to be gentle lost souls, surprising as the hero is actually a rock star… but he’s in hiding. I am not typically one who enjoys rockstar romance, but the author has made him very sympathetic. He is suffering from PTSD after a crazed stalker fan held him at gunpoint. He's hiding out at his childhood home with his mother in Oregon. The heroine is a sensitive young woman who has a dog shelter and helps women train dogs. The hero and heroine meet in a macrame class! She has no idea who he is, and he certainly enjoys that for a while. I am an Oregonian myself, and I like the way the author depicts our state—a little zany and offbeat but lovable. I got immersed in this book right away and didn't put it down until it was done. There is no better testament to a book!
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
The fifth book in the Pinwheel Plant Shop books, this is a great addition to the series. Lucas is a rock star, trying to keep a low profile. Him and Skye meet at a macramé class and she has no idea who he is. With an immediate attraction, they click right away and end up going on a public date together. They were such a likable and endearing couple, you can't help but fall in love with them and cheer them on. This was such a fun and cute book with an entertaining storyline. The story is well-written and I found myself smiling all the way through. Such an enjoyable and fun book, I would definitely recommend the book as well as the whole series!

This is my 1st read and review for this author and this is a rockstar romance my absolute favourite genre and this is Skye’s and Lucas’s aka Lee’s story. Skye and Lucas go to the Pinwheel Plant shop for Macrame classes, Skye is given a gift card by her mother to go to a macrame class to get out and meet some humans she takes her dog Rooster who is always by her side and that’s where she meets Lucas. Lucas aka Lee Stone is a rockstar his therapist advises him to go to a craft class and he’s in hiding from his stalker who is going on trial soon, their attraction is instant and Lucas is happy that Skye doesn’t know who he is but what happens when Skye finds out who Lucas really is?. I loved this story and the characters and I highly recommend this book.
This one definitely follows the KISS rule--Keep It Simple, Stupid. Low burn romance, they meet in the central place for this series, the plant shop. Why is a big time rock star in a small town? Well, crazy story but it has some relevance don't worry too much. Macrame class?! I said don't worry! Look, DOGGIES!
The story flows well, the love story is funny and heartwarming, the characters have realistic and recognizable issues... This is just an easy, beautiful, short read that I enjoyed a lot.

Another great book to the series! This is Lucas and Skye's story. The author once again brings strong characters and weaves another entertaining story. She brings a bit of drama along with the sweet romance. She does a great job describing both her characters and scenes and paints a realistic story with a fun dialogue. The story moves quickly and smoothly and I enjoyed reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Interesting and entertaining characters in a wonderful story with some twists and turns. There is some drama that happens. This is a very good read. Small town settings are always interesting because of the characters that live there.
